A fourth season of The Righteous Gemstones is premiering in 2025!

The HBO series was created by Danny McBride and centers on the second generation of a grand televangelist tradition, the renowned Gemstone family is living proof that worship pays dividends in all sizes, including their megachurch. Season three picked up when the spoiled Gemstone children finally get their wish to take control of the Church, they discover leadership is harder than they imagined and that their extravagant lifestyle comes with a heavy price.

Streaming on Max, the comedy/drama series has been nominated for awards such as Best Musical or Comedy Series at the 2020 Satellite Awards and Best Cable Series, Comedy at the 2022 Hollywood Critics Association Awards.

Creator Danny McBride confirmed the news in an interview with GQ on Thursday morning, joking with the outlet: “God told me it was time. That we had achieved what we needed to do.”

In all seriousness, McBride said the move to end the series felt “natural,” given that his idea for Season 4 “was a story that was bringing all these themes and these ideas and these characters to a conclusion, to something that felt like completion.”

While many may scoff when I say this, let me just go ahead and admit right here that I unabashedly love the Underworld movies, a series I once referred to as the “Lord of the Rings of Werewolf Movies.” The first Underworld came along right at the perfect time for me. Back in April, Screen Gems released the first teaser poster for Underworld Blood Wars, although it didn't featuring returning star Kate Beckinsale or any of the other cast members. Since the release date had already been set for October 14, most assumed that the first trailer was just around the corner, but the studio still hasn't released any footage as of yet. Today we found out why, with Screen Gems officially pushing the movie from October 14, 2016 to January 6, 2017.

Variety reported on the release date shift, but there was no reason given for why the date was pushed into 2017. In its new date on January 6, 2017, Underworld 5 will be going up against The Weinstein Company's Amityville: The Awakening, starring Bella Thorne and Universal Pictures' Mena, starring Tom Cruise. I like dark, sci-fi actioners and I’m unafraid to admit it. I’ve seen every Underworld and Resident Evil in the theatre and anticipate continuing that trend until their respective series die. My interest in each comes from different motivations, though. No matter how cheesy and overly-stylish the vampire-versus-lycan war gets, it retains its intriguing mythology as a backbone to the carnage. On the flip side, Alice’s adventures against Umbrella ratchet up the aggression for non-stop fight choreography deflecting from the fact all four films have the same basic plot of surveying a post-apocalyptic zombie-infested wasteland. So, upon standing at the end credits of Kate Beckinsale‘s return as Selene in Underworld: Awakening, I scratched my head wondering when the two franchises swapped ambitions.

The list of credited screenwriters reveals Len Wiseman‘s consistent inclusion throughout the quartet as secondary to the glaring absence of Danny McBride here.

Human beings have finally gotten wise to the Underworld populations of vampires and lycans, and all-out war is being waged. Squads of soldiers with fully automatic assault rifles and silver-laced bullets make this war such a slaughter that it has come to be called "The Cleansing."

Selene (Kate Beckinsale) and her werewolf/vampire-hybrid lover Michael (a CGI cartoon) are caught up in this mess and are knocked unconscious by some special high-tech device and captured. Selene wakes up in a laboratory tank some twelve years later, still dressed in her same black leather outfit (ewww). Using her special vampire skill of "high-speed ass kicking," she breaks out of the guarded lab and hides in the city streets. Soon thereafter,...

Hot vampire chicks, leather-clad with guns blazing. That’s the appeal of Underworld, yes? It certainly doesn’t hurt, that’s for sure. And while the ever-expanding franchise blasts its way into theaters with a fourth entry this weekend, I’d argue there’s more to these things than sexy British chicks wielding all kinds of deadly weapons.

Taking a look back at the three films preceding Underworld Awakening, we find a flawed but ambitious series centering on an enduring war between vampires and werewolves. There have been missteps along the way: leaden direction, questionable writing and horrible performances, but the sheer scope of the franchise continues to impress. Underworld may not be a work of blazing originality, but it’s an ongoing R-rated action fantasy worth a bit more than its detractors might suggest.

The franchise has garnered die-hard fanatics over the last nine years with Kate Beckinsale – as the svelte, ass-kicking Selene - being not just the masturbatory fantasy of many a teenage boy, but a powerful female symbol as well. Each installment in the series is visually striking and unapologetically violent, reminiscent of a graphic novel come to life. Little Miss Sunshine became a rare indie to mainstream crossover hit, and directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris haven't made another feature film since. Now they're set to finally move forward on another picture, called He Loves Me. And the movie is shaping up to be a full-fledged Lms reunion. The La Times [1] reveals that He Loves Me is written by Zoe Kazan, the real-life girlfriend of Little Miss Sunshine actor Paul Dano. Both will appear in He Loves Me, which is being produced by Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa, who also produced (you guessed it) Little Miss Sunshine. The film is about "a young novelist who achieves success early in his career but begins to face struggles. In a bid to overcome writer's block, he is told to write the woman he thinks will love him. He winds up willing her into existence." The Lat says "think Adaptation meets Weird Science.

Chicago – “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” is easily one of the weirdest movies of 2009. It’s a werewolf movie that plays like a variation on “Gladiator” or “Spartacus” with the foundation of “Romeo & Juliet”. Solid work by the excellent Michael Sheen nearly redeems the film but an awful screenplay, dull design, and plodding direction sink this bizarre prequel.
