The Pitt may have only just wrapped its excellent first season, but we already know that it’s a show we want to last for years and years. After all, as we’ve seen, medical dramas can easily last for double-digit seasons. With that in mind, TV Insider had to ask star, executive producer, and writer Noah Wyle and executive producer R. Scott Gemmill (who wrote the outstanding Season 1 finale) how long they imagine the show going. Wyle, who played Carter on ER for over 11 seasons, Tom Mason on Falling Skies for five, and Flynn Carsen for a few Librarian movies and across the show, and is in his third season as Harry Wilson on Leverage: Redemption, said he’ll play Robby “as long as you’ll have me.” Gemmill added, “That’s up to you guys. It’s not up to me. ...

A Max original, The Pitt is a medical drama that chronicles one 15-hour shift in the emergency room of the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. Gritty and authentic, each episode in the show covers a single hour of the shift beginning at seven in the morning. With medical students and interns in tow on their very first day, Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle), the show’s senior attending, navigates the organized chaos that’s become synonymous with working in the ER.
A realistic representation of medical personnel on the frontlines, the series isn’t made for those with a queasy stomach. At any given moment, viewers could witness a simple flesh wound or the inside of someone’s chest cavity. It is an ER after all. Given the scope of the series, The Pitt has an extensive cast, which audiences might recognize from other television shows and movies. Below are the...

Max's new series The Pitt thrives on the strength of its strong cast of characters, who deliver great performances throughout the fast-paced series. Medical drama The Pitt follows the doctors and medical professionals of the emergency department of the fictional Pittsburgh trauma hospital Ptmc. In a unique twist, each episode of the series, which was originally conceived as an ER revival, but failed, unfolds during one hour of a single ER shift, the semi-real-time pace of the series making it feel even more immersive.
The Pitt, which got a solid Rotten Tomatoes score ahead of its debut, is also different from other medical dramas in that if focuses less on the intertwined lives and romances of the doctors, but on the hectic and stressful nature of being a modern-day healthcare worker. The intensity of the trauma center emergency room is put front and center in the medical drama, rather than the personal drama.

A new episode of the Black Sheep video series has just been released, and in this one we’re paying tribute to the late, great Donald Sutherland by taking a look back at the 1994 sci-fi horror film The Puppet Masters (watch it Here)! You can hear all about it by checking out the video embedded above.
Directed by Stuart Orme, who is quite a prolific TV and music video director (best known for his collaborations with Phil Collins), from a screenplay by Hollywood heavy hitters Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio (The Pirates of the Caribbean) and David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight), The Puppet Masters was based on a novel by Robert A. Heinlein and has the following synopsis: An alien spacecraft sets down in rural Iowa, and top-secret government agents Andrew Nivens and his son, Sam, are sent to investigate. Coming along is NASA biologist Mary Sefton, and together they...

Falling Skies was a groundbreaking sci-fi series that delved into a post-apocalyptic world after an alien invasion. The show hit its stride in Season 2 with improved storytelling and character development, attracting mainstream audiences. Despite its initial popularity, Falling Skies began to fade as post-apocalyptic themes fell out of favor in the era of streaming platforms.
Science fiction programming has become dime-a-dozen in the era of prestige television, but this was far from always the case. In previous decades, network television channels largely shied away from this sometimes more esoteric genre. Nevertheless, one network that knows drama took the plunge with a series that lasted from 2011 to 2015.

Each Bridgerton actor had a handful of other roles before landing their spot on the sensational Netflix period drama. But many viewers hadn’t quite realized that Jonathan Bailey once had a starring role on Disney Channel.
The series didn’t last for long. But now, Bailey’s fans are having a lot of fun looking up clips of his days with Disney.

Movie character recasts are often necessary when actors die during production, but they can be complicated and costly due to scheduling conflicts. In some cases, stand-ins, CGI, old footage, and scene changes are used instead of recasting to honor the deceased actors. Despite the challenges, movies find ways to complete filming and pay tribute to the actors, using various techniques such as recasting, reshooting, and incorporating existing footage.
There have been instances throughout productions where an actor has died during production, which has led to multiple movie character recasts to ensure filming is complete. Unfortunately, there have been many cases of actors dying while they are in the middle of filming a movie. There has been a mixture of cases, with the majority happening off of set but some tragically happening on set. The circumstances bring productions to a halt as they deal with their loss, but the pressure of filming to deadlines always looms.

Writer, director, and filmmaker Christopher Nolan has been reassured by researchers working in the development of artificial intelligence (A.I.) that they recognize parallels between their work and when J. Robert Oppenheimer “fathered” the atomic bomb in Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1945. The filmmaker takes this modicum of self-awareness as a hopeful sign, but it is not necessarily a comforting one for those who know the Oppenheimer story—including Christopher Nolan.
The director seemed to suggest as much during a panel in New York City that commemorated the 78th anniversary of the Trinity test in New Mexico—the first time a nuclear bomb was successfully detonated. After the test, Oppenheimer famously quoted the Bhagavad Gita when he reflected, “Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.”
That legacy and so much more was carefully discussed, and perhaps lightly debated, during the Trinity anniversary panel, where Den of Geek was in attendance.

UFOs are often visible, but not always. Sometimes they make noise, sometimes they are silent. If you’ve never seen a flying saucer, that is proof they are everywhere. This is one of the many amazing things we learn in TCM’s upcoming table read of Ed Wood’s masterwork, Plan 9 from Outer Space.
We once laughed at the horseless carriage, the aero-plane, the telephone, the electric light, vitamins, radio, and even television. But it took a while to get the joke about Plan 9 from Outer Space. Written and directed by Edward D. Wood Jr. in 1959, it was a little-known independent film with a direct line through directors who carried on the DIY-filmmaking spirit like John Cassavetes, Melvin Van Peebles and John Waters. The Cult of Plan 9 began when Ed Wood was posthumously awarded a Golden Turkey Award for Worst Director of All Time in 1980. Though this has been disputed.

"You won't believe what's going on now." Hp has unveiled an official trailer for a short documentary series titled Dear Future Me, from filmmakers Sarah Klein & Tom Mason. Dear Future Me, a new documentary short film in two parts, features both high school seniors opening their prophetic letters and 6th graders writing to their future selves. The results are surprising, engaging, emotional and most of all, heartwarming. But even more than reminiscing about their middle school selves, the letters prompt reflections on identity, race, sexuality and just how much growing and changing kids do in six short years. Of course! This is one of those things we all do in school, or at least we've heard about, and it's a fun exercise in recognizing how fast time passes and how we change as time passes. And it goes without saying, but it's even more poignant to watch this now considering...

Then again, that could be said by any movie directed by Ed Wood, who not only told stories with his films, but also celebrated the genres they called home and the people that helped make them possible. “The fight isn’t over ’til it’s over,” Colonel Weaver reassured members of the 2nd Mass on more than one occasion. Now it really is over: “Falling Skies” aired the finale of its fifth and final season tonight on TNT. Warning: Spoilers Ahead for “Reborn,” the series finale of “Falling Skies.” Tonight’s finale concluded the tale that began with a ragtag team of alien invasion survivors and ended with that same group of survivors becoming heroes, leading the fight to claim back their home, Planet Earth. Tom Mason and co. have battled all manner of extraterrestrial creatures, gruesome weapons that manipulated once-loyal members of the 2nd Mass to turn on their own, and fellow humans (non-alien-manipulated ones) who were plenty troublesome in their own selfish or fearful agendas, as if a powerful alien threat weren’t trouble enough. After the final push brings the 2nd Mass to Washington,...

Falling Skies commences its ten-episode final season with an entertaining uptick in violence...
This review contains spoilers.
5.1 Find Your Warrior
In season four of Falling Skies, Battlestar Galactica veteran David Eick took over as showrunner and producer, and the show shifted subtly from a Revolutionary War parallel to a more traditional war story. Now, with the final season locked in for ten episodes, Eick is promsing even more chaos and carnage, transitioning from the Revolution to Vietnam. He's even gone as far as to call the last season of Falling Skies 'Apocalypse Now on crystal meth'. The family drama is getting put by the wayside for some good, old-fashioned alien murder, or so we're promised.
That remains to be seen, but after watching the first episode of the season, I can say that there is a very high body count and for once, Falling Skies doesn't trade bloodshed for speeches—you get both,...

“Falling Skies” began as a loose allegory for the American Revolutionary War when the alien invasion TV show first aired in 2011. Humans are fighting on their own turf for independence from extraterrestrials. That analogy evolved, as the finale of season 2 gave viewers their first look at the Volm, a species of alien who act rather like the French do for the Patriots, coming to the aid of the Earthlings. Say good morning, Vietnam, season 5. Showrunner David Eick describes the final season as “‘‘Apocalypse Now’ on crystal meth.” It’s a season of more moral ambiguity. It’s a season when characters push themselves to their absolute limits. The entire series has blended elements of sci-fi, war show, horror and family drama, but for season 5 there will be more focus on “war tales” and “combat stories,” said Eick, the “Battlestar Galactica” alum who came aboard “Falling Skies” as showrunner for season...

From the reveal of a third creepy alien species that may be running everything, to the fact that the Skitters may have once been humans just like us, the first season of Falling Skies has been a fantastic ride.
Initially, the series began merely as a story about a small group of survivors who were in the midst of retreating and regrouping — while they tried to find the supplies and weaponry they needed to escape complete annihilation. But it quickly turned into a tale of how these few men and woman decided to return and enact their revenge on the aliens relentlessly pursuing them.
While the mantra: ‘retreat, regroup, return, revenge’ sounded good in theory, when it was first spoken, it seemed that Tom Mason’s words were an illusory...

When former ER star Noah Wyle got wind of Matthew Fox’s comeback with the cult adventure-drama, Lost, he pulled up his bootstraps and decided he, too, would try to board the 90’s heartthrob comeback train. The result is his new TV series Falling Skies on TNT which debuted Sunday night.
Wyle’s thinking makes sense, and he was he even shrewd enough to jump aboard a train conducted by Steven Spielberg, the closest thing to a sure shot in Hollywood. Meanwhile, Fox was only able to muster Spielberg acolye J.J. Abrams to guide his comeback. But as you'll see, landing Spielberg seems to be Wyle's only advantage in the comeback game.
Let’s compare and contrast the two former idols and see who comes out on top in this battle of 90s Heartthrobs.

We've seen the first seven hours of Steven Spielberg's new alien-occupation show Falling Skies, airing this summer. And the good news is, this could be one of the most thought-provoking and intense stories about alien invasion you've ever seen.
The bad news is, Falling Skies gets off to kind of a rocky start in its first couple of episodes, but then it does pick up dramatically later on. Here's our spoiler-free preview.
Very few creators have attempted to tell the story of life after an alien invasion . not immediately after, but six months after, in the case of Falling Skies. And it's a brilliant conceit, allowing the show to explore a lot of post-apocalyptic themes about survival after a disaster, and how desperate circumstances bring out the best and worst in people. It's sort of similar to Day of the Triffids, in all its various incarnations,...

In the Fox series Party of Five, an irresponsible older brother (Matthew Fox) must take care of his siblings after their parents are killed by a drunk driver. The other siblings are played by Scott Wolf, Neve Campbell, Lacey Chabert, and Jacob Smith. Others in the cast include Jennifer Love Hewitt, Paula Devicq, Scott Grimes, Michael Goorjian, Jeremy London, Tom Mason, and Mitchell Anderson.
The Party of Five series was never a big success but was very important to the growth of the fledgling Fox network. It started out at #125 in the ratings and, over the course of four seasons, made it to #57. The ratings then started to tumble after and it was cancelled after six years on the air, in 2000.
