Solid ground doesn’t exist in the cinema of Jaume Collet-Serra and Liam Neeson. Theirs is an action cinema of distress where the mental instability of each protagonist blurs the boundaries of seemingly tight spatial parameters. Conflict unfolds violently and manipulatively within manmade (and psychological) bubbles, as vast as the multiple boroughs of New York City or as small as the cramped fuselage of a passenger jet. There is no escape, only the desperate and unflinching pursuit of truth, moral direction, and family safety. The bad guys often win, but the good guys always gain closure.Angular compositions and desperate tracking shots populate 2011’s Unknown, 2014’s Non-Stop, and 2015’s Run All Night. Images overlap, tip, ascend and dive to visualize the world as one big box of quick sand. The camera propels through space like a boomerang, challenging logic and defying gravity with reckless abandon. Every step forward brings us...

Imagine if high school student Scott Howard from Teen Wolf grew up, became a functioning alcoholic, and got a job as a cop in a small town. Sound interesting? If so, then you might like writer/director Lowell Dean’s film, WolfCop, which premiered earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival and has just been acquired by Image Entertainment.
Image Entertainment has gained all Us rights to WolfCop, which was presented by CineCoup upon its release. After a positive reception at Cannes, CineCoup in May announced a sequel, revealing that production on WolfCop 2 would begin in the fall with Lowell Dean returning to direct.
“It’s not unusual for alcoholic cop Lou Garou to black out and wake up in unfamiliar surroundings, but lately things have taken a strange turn.
Crime scenes seem oddly familiar. Lou’s senses are heightened, and when the full moon is out, he’s a rage-fueled werewolf.

★★☆☆☆Competing for the record number of red herrings in a single motion picture, Non-Stop (2013) initially teases ninety minutes of high-concept fun, but quickly gets bogged down in a mire of tired clichés, laboured characters and distracting plot-holes. A huge waste of star Liam Neeson, Jaume Collet-Serra's airborne whodunit is reminiscent of the kind of disposable cinematic fodder so often churned out during the late-nineties. Neeson plays Bill Marks, an ex-cop turned ostracised Us Federal Air Marshal who is first introduced sat in his car, sloshing whisky into a coffee cup and delicately stroking the photo of his late daughter (he may as well be holding up a placard inscribed with 'tortured hero').

From levelFILM, Sneak Peek writer/director Damien Lee's boxing drama "A Fighting Man", available on Blu-ray and DVD, June 24, 2014, starring Dominic Purcell ("Prison Break"), Famke Janssen ("X-Men"), James Caan ("Rollerball"), Kim Coates ("Sons Of Anarchy"), Oscar winner Louis Gosset Jr. and Izaak Smith:
"...'A Fighting Man' is a brutal, disquieting look at two men who meet head to head in the ring for a fight that will change their lives. As one man (Purcell) fights for redemption and forgiveness, the other (Smith) fights for change and hope. Intense, fierce and highly dramatic, it's as much of a character story as it is a boxing movie, and by the end, they realize, whether win or lose, they'll need each other to make it through..."

Liam Neeson may have launched his career with serious fare like Schindler’s List, but the moment Taken ignited at the box office, it became obvious that the actor had found his niche. Since that modern action classic, he’s led The A-Team, unraveled an assassination plot in Unknown, faced down wolves in The Grey and once again combatted human traffickers in Taken 2. The actor’s formula for these action flicks is pretty clear-cut. Neeson plays a gruff but likable badass, who’s hurtled into an impossible situation and forced to fight his way out, all the while maintaining his intrinsic dignity. The actor’s latest, Non-Stop, never tries to break away from that formula, though director Jaume Collet-Serra (who previously helmed Unknown with Neeson) does make a cliché-riddled ride enjoyable.

Chicago – “Non-Stop” gave audiences more than just “‘Taken’ on a plane” when it opened last February, and showed that the inflight experience is efficiently vulnerable action thriller territory. With audiences having taken a break from commercial airline chaos after 9/11, “Non-Stop” brought viewers back into the peril of an unsafe flight, but with a leading hero by Liam Neeson at the helm. Nevertheless, even when knowing how the flight ends, “Non-Stop” is a refined thriller that still has a grip on one’s attention in a second viewing as well.

Non-Stop tells the story of Bill Marks (Liam Neeson), a troubled air marshal who is on a trans-Atlantic flight when he gets a text message on a secure phone requesting the transfer of $150 million in order to prevent a series of deaths from happening on the plane. Most of the film takes place within the confines of the plane, a setup that posed a unique set of challenges for the filmmakers. However, director Jaume Collet-Serra was not intimidated by the idea of creating action scenes on such a small set. He envisioned that the contained environment would actually make … Continue reading →

Check out the brand new poster for Universal Pictures’ A Walk Among The Tombstones.
Based on Lawrence Block’s bestselling series of mystery novels, A Walk Among The Tombstones stars Liam Neeson as Matt Scudder, an ex-nypd cop who now works as an unlicensed private investigator operating just outside the law.
Audiences last saw the Oscar-nominated actor earlier this year as U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks in Universal’s suspense thriller Non-stop.
In A Walk Among The Tombstones, when Scudder (Neeson) reluctantly agrees to help a heroin trafficker (Dan Stevens) hunt down the men who kidnapped and then brutally murdered his wife, the Pi learns that this is not the first time these men have committed this sort of twisted crime…nor will it be the last.
Blurring the lines between right and wrong, Scudder races to track the deviants through the backstreets of New York City before they kill again.

Non-stop, the Liam Neeson hit from earlier this year, was less an action film than an old-fashioned locked-in-the-box whodunnit. During a transatlantic flight from New York City to London (on the fictional Aqualantic airlines) grizzled, hard-drinking U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks (Neeson) receives a series of cryptic text messages demanding that he instruct the government to transfer $150 million into an off-shore account. Until he secures the money, a passenger on his flight will be killed every 20 minutes. As Bill struggles to find who the murderer is, the ground crew is convinced that he himself has hijacked the aircraft.
On balance, Non-stop was a lot of fun. It took its absurd premise, which is basically “How do you kill someone on a crowded plane and get away with” and kept it focused, never wasting a moment while pushing its growling hero through obstacle after obstacle. There were a few too...

Non-Stop
Composed by John Ottman
Varese Sarabande Records
The latest entry in Liam Neeson’s Career Resurgence Extravaganza, Non-Stop has Neeson’s alcoholic air marshal Bill Marks unravel a mysterious bomb threat aboard a flight from New York to London. (Said flight is, in fact, non-stop.) When it’s not withholding key pieces of its mystery, Jaume Collet-Serra’s thriller is both tense and supremely silly — imagine Flightplan’s laser focus on its central character with Speed’s one-upsmanship.
Having previously scored Collet-Serra’s Unknown (also starring Neeson), John Ottman’s no stranger to genre. From Eight-Legged Freaks to Gothika, he’s also scored nearly all of Bryan Singer’s films since the early days of Public Access. His work in Singer’s ill-fated Superman Returns is a standout highlight, showing a deep reverence for John Williams’ importance to the original’s iconography. In short, Ottman has a flexible toolkit,...

Liam Neeson's Non-Stop has knocked The Lego Movie from the top of the Us box office.
The thriller opened to an estimated $30m this weekend, bringing the computer-animated movie's three-week run at number one to an end.
Liam Neeson's 5 best movie roles: Schindler's List, Batman Begins
Non-Stop also stars Julianne Moore, Michelle Dockery and Lupita Nyong'o and was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.
Neeson stars as Us federal air marshal Bill Marks, who is faced with a potential hostage situation during a flight from New York to London.
At number two, Son of God also opened strongly with $26.5m, giving it a far more lucrative debut weekend than similar films like Courageous ($9.1m) and The Nativity Story ($7.8m).
However, the biblical movie's performance falls short of The Passion of the Christ, which earned over $26m on its first day.

New Non-Stop movie delivered great action, drama, suspense & more. Universal Pictures released their new action/drama flick, "Non-Stop," into theaters this weekend. I just watched it, and thought it was absolutely terrific. It served up nonstop suspense, action, drama, and a great plotline. It stars: Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Nate Parker, Michelle Dockery, and Scoot McNairy. In the new flick, U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks (Liam Neeson), hopped on a transatlantic flight from New York City to London. However, shortly after he boards his flight, he starts receiving disturbing text messages from a passenger who is onboard the 150 person flight. The messages demanded that he instruct the government to transfer $150 million into an off-shore account. Until he secures the money, a passenger on his flight would be killed every 20 minutes. This caused Bill to eventually get the whole passenger crew involved in the action in an effort to locate the culprit as people did,...

In the opening scene of Non-stop, federal air marshal Bill Marks is sitting in his car in the parking lot of the New York airport before he enters the building to take his flight. As he fidgets with his phone, making one last call before departing, he turns the radio on. The radio voices just happen to be discussing the issue of airport security in the post 9/11 world. Fast forward to ninety minutes later when the mystery of the film is solved and the dead and alive are separated and the television is on. The newscaster, mic in hand, looks us straight in the eyes and, under the guise of national news, explains what we have just witnessed. She clarifies the twists of the film with sincerity and merrily wraps up by tying everything with a bow. As the title suggests,...

As career paths go, Liam Neeson's one as an aging action star is one we couldn't have really seen coming. Taken initially felt like a one off, but with the likes of Unknown and Taken 2 (with Taken 3 looming on the horizon like a threatening Kaiju), it's obvious this is a trajectory the actor is sticking with, even if each subsequent film has been a serious step down in quality from the first time he stepped into the action ring. Which brings us nicely to Non-Stop. Is it another misstep for Neeson, or will it salvage his current career path? The plot of Non-Stop is wonderfully high concept. Neeson plays Bill Marks, a tortured (of course) Air Marshall, with alcohol being his vice of choice. A routine flight turns into anything but when he starts receiving mysterious text messages saying a passenger will die every twenty minutes unless...

You’ve got to hand it to Liam Neeson. The guy knows precisely on which side his bread is buttered. Since rising to Stallone-level status in the action world, Neeson has been on a tear, dropping into plenty of action films, only worried about the punching and kicking. The same goes for Jaume Collet-Serra, the director of Neeson’s latest actioner, Non-Stop. Despite a resolution that makes the mystery that came before it that much dumber, the film delivers top-notch action, giving us exactly what we’ve come to expect from the collaboration that gave us Unknown last year. At the very least, Non-Stop’s premise and the fury from some solid moments of suspense keep it from being just another forgettable entry on Neeson's action resumé. This time around, Neeson - who seems to have graduated from the same Scowl and Grumble Academy Harrison Ford apparently attended - plays Bill Marks,...

He will kill you all. Glue his parents into place? He will ki-well he won’t be happy about it anyway. But no, the bad guys refuse to catch a clue, and now the fools are at it again. Bill Marks (Neeson) is an Irish-born U.S. Air Marshal having a really bad day. He’s drinking heavily, arguing with his boss, and heading out on a trans-Atlantic flight to London. Oh, and he hates to fly. Things worsen when an anonymous text hits his phone threatening to kill someone on-board the plane unless $150 million is wired into a specified account. Ever the professional, Marks sets out to find the culprit by any means necessary. Non-Stop is closer to Taken than it is...

Murder on the Familiar Express: Collett-Serra’s Airborne Caper a Watchable Throwback
Director Jaume Collet-Serra has jumped aboard the Liam Neeson renaissance train, reuniting with star for Non-Stop after their 2011 effort, Unknown (and, they’ve recently wrapped a third feature due out next year). With Neeson’s insistent return to the action fold, his latest outing fares well in comparison, a glossy whodunit that feels like a familiar (and fun) Agatha Christie narrative thrust onto a plane, filled with moments you’ll question later but offering a generous amount of engagement generally lacking in many recent big budget offerings. A host of recognizable faces admirably (though not entirely successfully) warps the process of elimination via casting choices, and while it doesn’t quite manage a smooth landing in a rather truncated finale, it offers enough mainstream enjoyment to at least avoid making you angry with it.

Liam Neeson is back on the big screen this week with Non-Stop, the action-packed, whodunnit thriller that will have audiences on the edge of their seat throughout.

January and February are traditionally regarded as dumping grounds for Hollywood’s lesser movies — the time when studios release the films not good enough for Oscar season and not promising enough for the summer box office. But with a surprising string of winter action hits, beginning with 2009′s Taken, that window might also be termed Neeson Season. “Neeson’s imposing 6’4” frame, haunted eyes, and knack for snapping limbs like celery stalks have elevated throwaways such as Unknown, The Grey, and Taken 2 into something more than the sum of their parts,” writes EW’s Chris Nashawaty. “They may not all be memorable films,...

From Non-Stop to Ernest & Celestine, here's what to see and what to skip in theaters this weekend. See ThisNon-StopIt was Col. Mustard on the airplane with the candlestick. Yes, the fun of Non-Stop is that it's like a hijack version of Clue, with a whole gang of suspects threatening to take out passengers on an international flight. The movie is so twisty, even its ostensible hero, played by Liam Neeson, is a person of interest. Non-Stop reunites Neeson with his Unknown director, Jaume Collet-Serra, and it's clear the two learned something from that half-hearted effort, since this latest outing is far more engaging.

Director Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan, House of Wax) has worked with Liam Neeson previously on the movie Unknown, but there is another clear reason Neeson was cast for the role of alcoholic air marshal Bill Marks. The actor has the talent and star power to elevate an otherwise unremarkable, movie-of-the-week script like Non-Stop into a moneymaker with wings.
The story, penned by a team whose credits include TV's Big Brother and WWE/WrestleMania, lands Neeson in the role of Bill Marks, an air marshal on a transatlantic flight.
