‘The White Lotus’ Breakout Sabrina Impacciatore Signs With Gersh & Mgmt Entertainment
Image
Exclusive: The White Lotus breakout Sabrina Impacciatore has signed with Gersh and Mgmt Entertainment for representation.

Impacciatore is one of the Italian stars of the HBO smash’s second season, following the intertwining lives of employees and guests at a White Lotus luxury hotel in Sicily. The anthology created, written, directed and exec produced by Mike White had her playing Valentina, the tightly wound resort manager who falls for the concierge Isabella (Eleonora Romandini). While she’s annoyed for much of the season by the presence on the property of the sex worker Lucia (Simona Tabasco) and her aspiring singer friend Mia (Beatrice Grannò), she winds up sharing her vulnerability and a life-changing moment of physical intimacy with the latter. Mia is then able to realize a personal dream, as she’s granted the opportunity to perform for hotel guests.

The White Lotus has thus far nabbed 10 Emmys from 20 nominations for its two seasons,...

‘Diabolik’ Review
Image
Stars: Luca Marinelli, Miriam Leone, Valerio Mastandrea, Alessandro Roja, Serena Rossi, Luca Di Giovanni, Claudia Gerini, Vanessa Scalera, Roberto Citran, Guglielmo Favilla | Written by The Manetti Bros., Michelangelo Le Neve | Directed by Antonio and Marco Manetti

I’ve been a fan of the Manetti Brothers – Antonio and Marco – since the first time I saw their fantastic sci-fi horror The Arrival of Wang way back in 2012. Since then the pair have directed numerous films, including Paura 3D and the action ‘Mafia musical’ Love and Bullets. The pair also produced Daniele Misischia’s fantastic zombie film The End?, which screened at Frightfest in 2017… Why mention those films? Because all of those films have – unfortunately – faded into obscurity on these shores since debuting at films festivals here in the UK. Hopefully Diabolik, the duo’s latest film based on the classic Italian comic book anti-hero of the same name will not suffer the same fate,...

Manetti Brothers ‘Ammore E Malavita’ to screen at Cinema Made in Italy 2018
The eighth edition of Cinema Made in Italy will launch at the Ciné Lumière in South Kensington on Wednesday 7th March – and the big highlight, at least for me personally, is the UK debut of the Manetti Brothers (pictured above) latest film Ammore E Malavita, aka Love and Bullets.

For those unfamiliar with the Manetti Brothers – Antonio and Marco – the duo were the directors behind the amazing sci-fi horror The Arrival of Wang and produced Daniele Misischia’s fantastic zombie film The End?, which screened at Frightfest last year and I named as one of my Top 10 films of 2017.

Set against the backdrop of (organised) crime in the beguiling Bay of Naples, Love and Bullets has all the elements of a dramatic love story, accompanied by car chases, shoot-outs and spontaneous dance numbers. Defined by some as a ‘Mafia musical’, the latest film by the Manetti Brothers shakes up cinematic genres,...

Frightfest 2012 Review: Paura 3D
Paura 3D

Stars: Peppe Servillo, Francesca Cuttica, Lorenzo Pedrotti, Domenico Diele, Claudio Di Biagio | Written by Antonio Manetti, Marco Manetti | Directed by The Manetti Brothers

The second film from the Manetti Brothers’ whose The Arrival of Wang played Frightfest Glasgow and is scheduled as part of the Re-Discovery Screen at London Frightfest 2012, Paura 3D (literally translated as Fear 3D) is billed as a 3D thrill ride into terror and whilst the film has its moments (no matter how minor), it cannot compare to the sheer brilliance of the Manetti’s sci-fi opus Wang.

Paura 3D tells the story of mechanic Ale, who after overhearing a conversation between a wealthy customer and the garage owner, takes his best friends, Simone and Marco on a trip to the wealthy owners Rome villa intent on having a wild weekend in his luxury mansion. Bored after raiding the fridge, swimming in the pool and...

Do You Dare Watch the Paura Trailer?
One of the films coming to the UK's FrightFest next month is Paura 3D.  A red band trailer has arrived - pretty gnarly stuff.  In the film, directed by Antonio and Marco Manetti, three young musicians think they have luck on their side when they score the keys to a beautiful villa outside of Rome for the weekend. Unfortunately, they soon discover that they are not alone.

Film4 Frightfest announces guest line up for Glasgow Ff 2012
Audiences at this year’s Film 4 FrightFest event at the Glasgow film Festival are in for a treat as no less than six directors will be attending.

One of the most eagerly anticipated movies in the Film4 FrightFest Glasgow line-up is The Raid. This action film to end all action films is virtually guaranteed to blow the roof off the Glasgow Film Theatre with its ramped up sequences of super-exhilaration and has already been snapped up for a major Hollywood remake. So we are thrilled to welcome Welshman director Gareth Evans to Scotland, via his home in Indonesia, to discuss all things Glock and roll and star Iko Uwais.

Crawl director Paul China and his producer brother Ben China are travelling from Australia to share the excitement their superbly slow-burning thriller is currently generating across the globe.

Another set of brothers will be arriving from Rome to present L’Arrivo...
