John Longenecker grew up in southern California. He attended the University of
California (UCLA) Film School and the University of Southern
California's USC Cinema Department. In 1970, he won an Academy Award
for producing The Resurrection of Broncho Billy (1970), Best Live Action Short Film. The film starred
Johnny Crawford and Kristin Harmon and was released by Universal Studios. As a
cinematographer, he has filmed music videos for director Dwight Yoakam. His
parents also work in the motion picture industry. His father is talent
agent C. Robert Longenecker and his mother is MGM film star
Ruth Hussey.
