Justin Long has set his next horror movie and it's about something all of us have probably feared at least once in our lives: lice. Simply titled Lice, the upcoming horror film is about a particularly nasty parasitic invasion.
Variety reports that the film will be the first feature produced by Kevin Connolly's ActionPark Productions with his partner Patrick Marino. It is being touted "as a horror mashup of The Breakfast Club and Lord of the Flies."
Long will be joined by Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild) and Connolly, best known for starring in the HBO series Entourage, will also star in the movie. Lice goes into production this week and will film in Canada. Based on the early description for the movie, it will be a fun throwback with plenty of references to the "'80s high school classics," but with plenty of scares thrown into the mix.

Blake Lively broke records—but not the good kind. Yep, believe it or not, the queen of red carpets starred in one of the biggest box office bombs of 2020. Blake Lively—Hollywood’s golden girl with a dream career, a rock-solid marriage to Ryan Reynolds, and enough charm to light up any screen—hit a serious career speed bump.
While she’s recently been making headlines and raising eyebrows thanks to all the buzz around It Ends With Us, this isn’t the first time Blake’s name has been tied to drama. Back in 2020, she headlined a movie that didn’t just flop—it Plummeted. We’re talking record-breaking failure. The ongoing legal feud between the It Ends With Us stars Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively has expanded to several people around the two Hollywood stars, including Lively’s former co-star Justin Long, for the actor’s reaction when Lively admitted to doing blackface in a resurfaced interview.
The actress has constantly been under scrutiny for making controversial remarks in her previous interviews, including one with her 2006 comedy Accepted co-stars, where she admitted to doing black face to stalk boys.

While CBS has unfortunately cancelled the second spin-off of The Neighborhood, which was to center on Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney) and Marty (Marcel Spears), Cedric the Entertainer comes bearing amazing news for die-hard fans of the brotherly duo. The series star confirmed via an interview with TV Line that the scrapped follow-up will be worked into Season 8 of The Neighborhood, meaning that the events of the Season 7 finale will not be ignored since it also served as the backdoor pilot for the spin-off.
Cedric, who co-wrote the backdoor pilot, mentioned that the next season of the beloved sitcom will incorporate major parts of Malcolm’s new life in Venice. And even without a spin-off, The Neighborhood team, who “love the idea that Malcolm has moved there,” still “wanted to [make] this transition and show the growth of the Fuse Box, which is why we have Marty going back and forth [from Pasadena to Venice].”

Cedric The Entertainer on ‘The Neighborhood’ Season 8 Hopes, Canceled Spinoff & Possible Guest Stars

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Neighborhood Season 7 finale, “Welcome to Pomp and Circumstance” and “Welcome to Venice.”] Welcome to the block, welcome to a new neighborhood! The Neighborhood delivered a surprising two-part Season 7 finale, where Marty (Marcel Spears) and Malcolm Butler (Sheaun McKinney) moved from their house down the block to a new house in Venice Beach, California, so Malcolm could pursue his writing career. This storyline was supposed to set up the spinoff that would feature Marty and Malcolm as the main characters, but in April, it was sadly announced it would not be moving forward. The last three episodes of the season were filled with guest stars, including Garrett Morris, Justin Long, and Hunter King, heartfelt moments, and some unfigured-out feelings. With only one season left, The Neighborhood will wrap up everyone’s stories in a handful of episodes. TV Insider spoke with Cedric The Entertainer, who plays Calvin Butler on the sitcom,...

Nepo babies seem to be all the rage in Hollywood right now. You can't swing a stick in this town without hitting someone whose parent is a casting director able to pull some strings to get them a recurring role on a sitcom. Many actors are nepo babies that the general public may be completely unaware of, like Daisy Edgar-Jones having a mother who's a film editor and a father who's an executive for a multimedia company.
It's unclear how much pull the likes of editors, costumers, and set designers have when it comes to getting their family members work in the industry. However, when you're related to a famous director, things suddenly fall into place much more easily. Directors often collaborate closely with the casting department to ensure actors fulfill their visions, and if they feel like it, they can totally give a loved one a part. It may be a small cameo,...

CBS has released first-look images of their scrapped Malcolm and Marty spinoff in The Neighborhood season 7 finale, which would've been a backdoor pilot. The Neighborhood season 7 will be the second-to-last batch of episodes for the sitcom, which recently saw confirmation that season 8 will be the last for the show. In addition, a spinoff focusing on Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney) and Marty (Marcel Spears) is not moving forward, despite the latter half of the upcoming two-part season 7 finale acting as a backdoor pilot.
Now, TVLine has released images from CBS from The Neighborhood's season 7 finale, with the network confirming the backdoor pilot for Malcolm and Marty's spinoff will air as planned. The images reveal the episode's focus on Malcolm moving across town, seemingly getting into conflict with their tech millionaire neighbor, Bruce (Justin Long). Fans of The Neighborhood were left disappointed when CBS confirmed that the popular sitcom would end with Season 8. Unfortunately, the proposed spinoff will not be moving forward either.
However, Cedric the Entertainer, who stars as Calvin Butler in the series, told TV Line that he wasn't too surprised by the news. "I do recognize that we're in a very difficult time as far as television goes," he said. "We were excited about doing this. We created the idea, and we intentionally tried to use an episode of The Neighborhood that we had in order to shoot it."
The actor went on to explain the state of television in 2025, saying that despite having an interesting premise, broadcast networks are simply "not doing a lot of pilots [anymore]. Barbarian director Zach Cregger's follow-up project, Weapons, is set to be one of his most ambitious to date when it hits theaters this August. The director recently talked about creating the film alongside new photos that tease the film's unsettling mystery.
"I want to watch the movie as I'm writing it," Cregger told Entertainment Weekly about his creative process. "I didn't have an outline. I didn't know what it was about. The result was Weapons, a mystery horror film starring Josh Brolin and The Fantastic Four: First Steps star Julia Garner that unravels multiple plots all tied together by the disappearance of school children at exactly 2:17 a.m.

CBS has pumped the brakes on its Neighborhood universe expansion: TVLine can confirm that the Eye network will not be moving forward with a spinoff centered on Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney) and Marty Butler (Marcel Spears).
Must Read: How the Cancelled Spinoff Will Impact Season 8
The untitled offshoot, which was being eyed for the 2025-26 TV season, would have seen Calvin and Tina’s adult sons “embark on new adventures, finally leaving their parents’ nest to start the next chapter of their lives, finding themselves the newcomers in a neighborhood that’s both close but yet world apart: Venice Beach,” according to a previously released logline.

The teaser trailer for Weapons shows a number of children fleeing their homes in writer-director Zach Cregger’s horror feature.
Warner Bros. releases the film in theaters Aug. 8. The cast includes Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong and Amy Madigan.
The multi-story narrative for Weapons centers on a small town where children have been disappearing late at night. “Those kids walked out of the homes,” a character says somberly via voiceover in the trailer. “No one pulled them out. No one forced them.”
Cregger, Roy Lee, J.D. Lifshitz, Raphael Margules and Miri Yoon serve as producers.
In early 2023, The Hollywood Reporter reported that New Line won a fierce bidding war for Cregger’s spec script for Weapons, with the filmmaker landing eight figures to write and direct. Led by Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard and Justin Long, Barbarian hit theaters in 2022 and became a cult hit,...

Three years ago, actor and comedian, Zach Cregger, pulled a complete 180 and handed audiences one of the best horror movies in recent years with the release of Barbarian. Serving as his feature-length directorial and writing debut, the film pulled Cregger from his comedic roots and revealed the darker (yet still at times comical) side of his mind in an unnerving horror flick that starred Georgina Campbell, Justin Long, and Bill Skarsgård. In the time since, audiences have been eager for more to come from Cregger’s darkside, and now the wait is finally starting to wind down. Today Warner Bros. has finally shared the first official teaser to come from the director's latest production, Weapons.
Short, spooky, and largely silent, our first real look at Weapons showcases the film's primary plot when a group of children disappears into the night. The ticking of a clock can be heard in the background,...

Barbarian was one of the best films of 2022, and director Zach Cregger is now ready to release his next project: Weapons. The star-studded horror is filled with familiar names.
Following the success of Barbarian, Cregger has written, produced, and directed the upcoming Weapons. The horror is set for release on Aug. 8, and Warner Bros. has just released a chilling teaser. Weapons follows a small community in a fictional town after a group of kids from the same class mysteriously vanish in one night at the same time.
The 40-second teaser starts at 2:17 am. While the residents of the fictional Maybrook town are asleep, several security cameras show a group of children running away with their hands wide by their side at exactly the same time.
"Mr. Graff, I understand your passion. And I don't mind having these conversations with you because, God forbid, if it was my child, I'd be demanding answers,...

It's no secret that nostalgia paints everything in rosy colors, making it harder to recognize when something we once loved no longer holds up. This happens frequently in the world of film, where childhood emotions blind us to the flaws of a genuinely crappy picture. We don't want to admit that something that once stirred us to our core has lost its luster -- and honestly, there's no shame in that. We've all been there.
Still, part of growing up is accepting some hard truths. Steven Spielberg's "Hook" isn't all that great. Michael Bay probably never had it. "Pulp Fiction" and "The Shawshank Redemption" are leagues better than "Forrest Gump." And "Back to the Future Part II and III" never should have happened. There -- don't you feel a little better?
No? Well, buckle up. Here's an even tougher exercise: a list of 10 hit horror movies that aren't as good as you remember.

As Hollywood continues to greenlight stories about iconic musicians — minus any unsavory details that could jeopardize acquiring the music rights — one high-profile musical biopic has proven to be surprisingly controversial, despite the fact that filming hasn’t even started yet.
It was recently announced that director Sam Mendes will be helming a film project about The Beatles. But in order to fully honor the legendary group (and boost ticket sales), he’s making four full-length movies, each focusing on one of the four band members: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. And presumably Asylum will throw together a straight-to-dvd movie about Pete Best.
Mendes talked about the project at CinemaCon this week revealing that the four movies will be released at the same time, in what studio executives are calling the “first binge-able theatrical experience.” Hopefully the inevitable collectible Beatles popcorn buckets will come with free caffeine pills.

Intro: Is man indeed a walrus at heart? That’s the question Kevin Smith sought to answer with his 2014 horror film Tusk, a wild and weird movie that was inspired by a hoax classified ad and workshopped on a podcast. It features an insane Michael Parks, a scenery-chewing Johnny Depp, a walrus-human hybrid, and it’s the Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.
Creators / Cast: Filmmakers are often asked how they get their ideas. Tusk is a rare case where a filmmaker’s fans were able to hear the exact moment when inspiration struck. On June 25th, 2013, Kevin Smith sat down with his longtime friend and producer Scott Mosier to record an episode of their podcast, episode 259 of Smodcast, to be exact, and one of the things Smith decided to talk about on the show was a classified ad that had been brought to his attention. The 2010s was a pivotal time for animated movies. Disney ushered in the new decade with its action-adventure film Tangled while DreamWorks started a successful fantasy franchise with How to Train Your Dragon. Recently retired animation studio Blue Sky made fan-favorite Rio and the next installment of the Ice Age franchise, Ice Age: Continental Drift. As the decade continued, so did the expansive catalog of films, including Kubo and the Two Strings, Zootopia, and Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.
These films made a lasting impact that projected the path ahead for many of these studios. Some animated films, however, failed to grab the audience's attention the way these titles did. Whether due to lackluster marketing or mixed critical reviews, these films still deserve to be discussed for their originality and broadening of the animation field.
