The Walking Dead comic book series created by Robert Kirkman, captured the imaginations of readers with its post-apocalyptic narrative. However, the characters of Daryl and Merle Dixon, who would later gain popularity in the TV adaptation, were not part of the original comic's storyline. Norman Reedus's portrayal of Daryl became a fan-favorite, leading to the character's solo spin-off series titled The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, where he embarks on a new chapter in France, searching for his former allies, Rick and Michonne, amidst human and undead threats.
Robert Kirkman, in reflecting on the creative process, acknowledged the collaborative effort that brought the Dixon brothers to life. He shared in The Walking Dead Deluxe #67 (via ComicBook) how various writers, including Jack LoGiudice and Charles H. Eglee, played a role in developing these characters. According to Kirkman, what makes the TV adaptation unique is the dynamic relationship between the actors and their characters.

Fear The Walking Dead is pacing itself nicely and threatening a headlong sprint into chaos at any moment...
This review contains spoilers.

Fear The Walking Dead has been good, but not great, for its first two episodes. After a week off, the show returns to a cooler climate. Summer is becoming autumn, and as the sun and warmth begin to fade, so too begins to fade any hope of a positive resolution for the dysfunctional family at the center of AMC’s La-based zombie drama. The escalation of the situation hasn’t been slow, per se, but they’ve been taking their time and attempting to roll the carnage out in natural waves. Civilization doesn’t collapse immediately, it starts fraying at the edges and then spreads. The spreading has started.

As soon as we thought we could predict the outcome of the Oscars, here comes another surprise! This one's brought to you by the Writers Guild of America. Picked for Best Original Screenplay was Christopher Nolan's "Inception." The director, famously dissed for not getting a Best Director Oscar nomination, may just win the Best Original Screenplay come Oscar night. Oscar front-runner, "The King's Speech" was not nominated because it didn't quality under union rules which prompted Nolan to say during his WGA acceptance award that he looked forward to a time when he could accept the award "without qualification."
That could be the beginning of a great script Mr. Nolan, go write it :happy
For adapted screenplay, I'm happy to report that Aaron Sorkin's fantastic script won! Based on "The Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich, "The Social Network" was the only film last year that I predicted to win this very category.

The most nerve-shredding thing about AMC’s new hit zombie show The Walking Dead is that you never know when somebody is going to get killed by a zombie. That being said, in the first three episodes no one actually did get killed by a zombie (well, if we don’t count the billions who were presumably felled by undead fiends while Andrew Lincoln’s hero-cop Rick Grimes was in a coma. And we don’t!).
All that changed in last night’s show, “Vatos,” as a campfire fish dinner suddenly turned into chow time for the undead, who feasted...

Has your sweet tooth for "The Walking Dead" been satisfied? If not, an inside look at Episode 3 is now available. In this five minute clip, Frank Darabont talks about the developing love triangle between Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies), Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Shane (Jon Bernthal). Also discussed is the primitiveness of human behaviour in a zombie infested world, where base instincts now rule. Finally, have a listen to producer Gale Ann Hurd talk about how man is more threatening to man than zombie to man. Humanity basically breaks down under stress. The full clip is below and the video can be watch across territories (worldwide).
The synopsis for Episode 3 "Tell it to the Frogs" is here:
"Rick makes a decision to go back to Atlanta to retrieve the bag of guns and save a man's life. Lori and Shane must deal with the surprising return of someone they thought was...

The Walking Dead Episode 1.3 "Tell it to the Frogs" Written By: Charles H. Eglee & Jack LoGiudice Directed By: Gwyneth Horder-Payton Original Airdate: 14 November 2010 In This Episode... We open on the roof. Merle is still cuffed there, delirious, and a handful of zombies have made it to the door. They can open it enough to get their green faces through the crack. The group from Atlanta makes it back to the camp. Rick, Lori, and Carl have a wonderful reunion, full of shock and joy. Similarly joyous reunions come by way of sisters Amy and Andrea, and Morales with his wife and kids. Less joyous is Daryl Dixon, who returns from a hunt to discover...

*Here be some spoilers.
Director: Gwyneth Horder-Payton.
Writer: Frank Darabont, Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, Charlie Adlard, Charles H. Eglee, and Jack LoGiudice.
AMC's Episode 3 of "The Walking Dead" had some notable developments and the series seems to be focusing on several key characters. Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is again forefront, but characters like Shane (Jon Bernthal), Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and a new character Daryl (Norman Reedus) are given some well deserved attention. Brotherly loyalties threaten to split the group, but the natural leadership of Grimes and a unified goal of returning to Atlanta bring some brief unity in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.
This episode's plotline returns several survivors from Atlanta to a remote, wooded outpost. Here, the undead have only started to probe for meals and also here, Grimes is reunited with his wife Lori and son Carl (Chandler Riggs). A sub-plot develops with wife beater Ed...

Story: At long last, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is free and clear of Atlanta and in the loving arms of his wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and son Carl (Chandler Riggs). But not everyone is happy to see Rick home safe and sound, as his former police officer partner Shane (Jon Bernthal) takes out some aggression on one of his fellow survivors.

In our set visit preview we emphasized the gooey gory goodness of AMC’s forthcoming zombie series "The Walking Dead". And while there certainly promises to be plenty of red splattering gloriously at the camera lens, don’t forget AMC is all about character. What we mean is there will also be some stories and pretty cool characters to go along with all the bloodshed.
"Dead" is based on the long-running comic series by Robert Kirkman about a cop named Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) who wakes up from a coma in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. He discovers some not-so-friendly undead hospital staff and ultimately makes his way home to find his town and house completely deserted. Grimes hopes his wife, Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies), and son, Carl (Chandler Riggs), have made their way to Atlanta. Also joining the cast are Laurie Holden as Andrea, Emma Bell as Amy and Jon Bernthal as Shane.

USA announced today at their Comic-Con panel in Ballroom 20 that a Burn Notice prequel movie centered around Bruce Campbell is in the works. According to Variety, the telepic will follow “the last assignment of [Campbell's] character, Sam Axe, as a Navy Seal before his retirement.” Filming is set to begin after season four (currently airing) wraps and before the start of season five on location in Latin America. Campbell has long been a geek icon due to his role as Ash in the Evil Dead series, so Comic-Con is truly the perfect venue for such an announcement.
