Welcome to this week's edition of The Vampire Diaries Round Table!
Our staff has gathered on this Friday afternoon for the important task of analyzing the latest episode of this CW hit, "Memory Lane." Can we really trust Mason? Should we be surprised Damon likes Guitar Hero? Let's dive right in to these pressing topics...
What was your favorite quote or scene from the episode?
M.L. House: "I tried to kill a werewolf, I failed. Now I feel like I'm not living up to the version of my best self." While this quote by Damon made me laugh, his sheer terror in the face of his failed murder attempt just made me love Ian Somerhalder all the more.
Lj Gibbs: Katherine's response to why she is back in town: Stefan, Stefan, Stefan. Could she really be telling the truth?!?
Elena: Loved the banter between Mason and Damon.
Do you...

There is not much action in tonight's episode, but we get a lot of intrigue. First, Katherine is back for Stefan. He surprises her with a silver spike in the back, which slows her down enough that he can chain her up in the cellar and interrogate her. She teamed up with George Lockwood to help fake her own...

This is a review of “Memory Lane” for Mark O. Estes in-depth recap Click Here.
The Vampire Diaries showed in season one that flashbacks aid the story and this season is no different. These scenes flesh out issues of mythology as well as revealing motivations and events that play out differently to how we have been told previously.
This was highlighted in the opening sequence when the flashback we are seeing is not a memory but a dream of Stefan’s implanted by Katherine to place doubt regarding his relationship with Elena and to further show his insecurities about Damon’s intentions towards Elena. So begins the dance of “Memory Lane” both literally (in the dream) and metaphorically between Stefan and Katherine. They are not the only characters playing games with each other as Damon and Mason are effectively dancing around their supernatural status for much of the episode.

Good television makes you think, and tonight's (Sept. 30) episode of "The Vampire Diaries," aptly titled "Memory Lane," left me with as many questions as answers.
And we got a lot of answers. It's no secret that flashback episodes are my favorite. Every time we go back to 1864, we see "The Vampire Diaries" at its most ambitious. Tonight, we saw the fateful events from Katherine's (Nina Dobrev) perspective, which put a whole new twist on things.
Of course, as Ian Somerhalder warned me, Katherine isn't the most reliable narrator. Still, the rare glimpse at her humanity was more than welcome. It makes her even more unnerving to know that she carries both the capacity to love and the capacity to just slaughter people.
Are your DVRs ready? You know this is one you just have to see twice.

The Vampire Diaries filled in some blanks in the increasingly fleshed out back story that intrigued viewers from Season One, while intertwining new slivers of information to complete the canvas for now. Plus, it was a flashback episode!!! All in all, tonight was a doozy.
Lockwood Mansion 1864
Stefan dances with Katherine, but spots Damon sadly looking at them from afar. When Stefan looks toward his brother again, he notices that Damon is now talking to Elena. Wait. What the hell is Elena doing in 1864?! Stefan runs to stop Damon from taking Elena away, but Katherine pleads for him to stay. Stefan does otherwise and runs after Damon and Elena, leading him to present day where he watches as Elena and Damon share a passionate kiss in the Mystic Grill. Katherine shows up, still in her 1864 garb and says that now Stefan knows how she feels about him and Elena. She...

I love you, Stefan. We will be together again. I promise. - Katherine
Forget vampires and werewolves. This episode depicted one thing: season two is a game of cat-and-mouse. On "Memory Lane," Stefan and Elena pulled one over on Katherine, as they tried to stay one step ahead of the blood sucker who seems intent on killing the latter.
Only, for the second time this season, Katherine spared Elena's life. And if her feelings are to be believed, it's not hard to see why.
Whether or not Katherine came back solely for Stefan (my vote: Not!), the final flashback to 1864 proved that she really did love him. She promised him they'd be together, and it's a promise she intends to keep - but only if her love is truly reciprocated.
If she actually murders Elena, the odds of Stefan actually falling for her are lower than Mason Lockwood Facebook friending Damon.

Ancestry is key on "The Vampire Diaries," and the Lockwood family is no exception. We're about to learn a lot more about the Lockwood family curse -- in case you've been living under a rock, they're werewolves. Now, Simon Miller has been cast as the patriarch of the Lockwood pack, George Lockwood.
Miller, a professional photographer, is a relative newcomer to acting, though you might recognize him from short roles on "Gossip Girl" and "CSI" or his indie movie "Between Love & Goodbye."
With those good looks, I completely believe that this guy could've spawned Michael Trevino and Taylor Kinney.
Miller's first episode is "Memory Lane," the fourth episode of Season 2. Ladies and gentlemen, we have flashbacks! The episode, which is currently shooting in Atlanta, will introduce the Lockwood ancestors for the first time.
Though the Mystic Falls werewolves aren't exactly BFFs with the vampires, it seems that George will find...
