Best-remembered on screen as the silent assassin Vargas in Thunderball (1965). Acclaimed on stage as Professor Moriarty in 'Sherlock Holmes' at the Aldwych Theatre in London (1974) and as Horatio in 'Hamlet' at the Old Vic (1975).
