Disney Xd has ordered a third season of the Emmy-nominated animated series Marvel’s Spider-Man with a Spring 2020 premiere, according to Marc Buhaj, senior vice president, programming and general manager, Disney Xd. In the third season, titled Marvel’s Spider-Man: Maximum Venom, Peter Parker’s alter ego is pushed to his breaking point when the always-volatile Venom summons a global threat from its alien home world.

Insomniac had to convince Marvel to let them keep one of Spider-Man's biggest plot points.

It turns out that Marvel tried to stop one of Spider-Man's PS4's biggest plot points while the game was still in development. In other words, don't read ahead if you haven't had the chance to experience Insomniac's Spider-Man and still wish to do so.

Now that we got that out of the way, Yuri Lowenthal (who voices Spider-Man in the PS4 game) recently appeared on the GameZone podcast and spoke about Marvel's influence on the development of the hit title. While it sounds like the Insomniac/Marvel relationship was mostly smooth, the two sides did hit a bit of a snag when Marvel found out that Insomniac intended to kill Aunt May.

Here's the clip, followed by all the previous promo vids....

The new series, titled simply Spider-Man, "will follow the adventures of Peter Parker from the very beginning. It’s filled with humor and heart and we have an amazing creative team coming.” It's easy to see this as some sort of companion piece to Spider-Man: Homecoming, even if the continuities arent' officially linked.
