Benedict Cumberbatch will executive produce a new six-part limited series, based on true events, called The Annecy Murders.

Inspired by the infamous Chevaline killings, the show will follow the cold case that captivated the world when on Sep. 5, 2012, a British-Iraqi engineer, his wife, her mother, and a French cyclist were shot dead on a scenic road near Lake Annecy in France. Two young girls, aged 4 and 7, survived, unnoticed by first responders for hours.

The event sparked a vast investigation spanning multiple countries, including France, the U.K., Spain, Israel, Switzerland, and Iraq, involving hundreds of investigators and nearly a thousand witnesses. But the unresolved mystery returned to the spotlight last summer when French authorities reopened the investigation, further fueling public and media speculation.

Carrousel, the production and financing company founded by Louis Leterrier, Omar Sy, and Thomas Benski, joins Cumberbatch’s SunnyMarch and Bob Cooper’s Landscape in bringing the drama to the screen.

Carrousel Studios, SunnyMarch and Landscape are joining forces on six-part psychological thriller The Annecy Murders, inspired by the infamous Chevaline killings in the French Alps, a cold case that continues to draw international attention more than a decade after the crime.

The Horsemen reunite to take down two generations of criminals in Now You See Me Now You Don’t, the third film of the Nysm franchise. The official trailer introduces the third film’s big bad – Rosamund Pike – as well as newbies helping out the original horsemen.

The first film premiered in theaters on May 31, 2013, followed by the sequel, Now You See Me 2, on June 10, 2016. Now You See Me Now You Don’t, originally titled Now You See Me 3, is set to open in theaters on November 14, 2025.

Who would have thought that the “Now You See Me” franchise would spur some of the biggest names in indie film? Oscar-nominated filmmaker Jesse Eisenberg and Sundance darling Dave Franco both return for third film “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” along with their fellow Four Horsemen magicians Woody Harrelson and Isla Fisher.

And there’s a new generation of indie stars joining the big Lionsgate franchise: Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt, who were also all in person to stage a visual “heist” in the heart of Times Square to promote the trailer. Lionsgate gave away $250,000 in digital payments to fans that texted or called a mysterious phone number that was on a billboard.

“Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” also stars Rosamund Pike and Morgan Freeman. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer with a script by Seth Grahame-Smith, Michael Lesslie, Paul Wernick, and Rhett Reese.

However, fans aren't the only ones waiting for Universal to officially announce Part 2's release date, as franchise lead Vin Diesel wants answers from the studio about its debut.

Humanity has been sharing stories about horrific monsters since time immemorial, and some of these tales have become so ingrained in culture that they end up outlasting the societies that created them. That’s why we still see movies based on mythic figures like Hercules and the Minotaur over two thousand years after the end of the Hellenistic period.

And with even Christopher Nolan borrowing from Greek Mythology in his upcoming Odyssey adaptation, we’ve decided to compile a list celebrating six of the scariest depictions of ancient Greek monsters in film. After all, an epic quest is only as thrilling as the strange beasts that our heroes encounter along the way.

Jon Favreau's 2008 film "Iron Man" kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a multimedia superhero property that would remain dominant in the pop consciousness for over a decade. Initially, "Iron Man" and Louis Leterrier's own 2008 MCU movie "The Incredible Hulk" (which finally got a sequel of sorts in 2025) were meant to be mere stand-alone superhero sories, only including references to the Avengers as a cute wink to fans. But when Disney purchased the Marvel library in 2009, a grander plan was put in motion, laying out multiple films at once, each one introducing a new character. Eventually, all the superhero characters teamed up in 2012's "The Avengers," which was essentially the cinematic version of a TV season finale. That structure held fast through to "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019, the 22nd film in the franchise, and one that featured many, many superheroes.

While the McU's movies were dominating theaters, Netflix got in on the action as well.

The Transporter series introduced everyone’s favorite action hero, Jason Statham, and one of the sequels in the fan-favorite series is all set to stream for free. Released back in 2008, Transporter 3 was panned upon release (earning just 40% from critics and 48% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes) but nonetheless boasts the flair for fist-fighting that The Stath fans have come to know and love.

Directed by Olivier Megaton and written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, Transporter 3 finds Statham’s expert driver and courier paired with Valentina (Natalya Rudakova), the cynical daughter of a Ukrainian official. Now, Frank must use his particular set of skills to both guard his new charge, and himself, because if they wander too far from his beloved car...they’ll explode. Transporter 3 is now due to land on free streaming platform Tubi from March 1, 2025.

Fans have been waiting two years for the cliffhanger ending of Fast X to be resolved in Fast & Furious 11. Unfortunately, they could be waiting another two years, as franchise star Alan Ritchson recently explained what is holding up filming from beginning on the sequel.

Speaking with Screen Rant to promote Reacher Season 3, which premiered on Prime Video on Feb. 20, Ritchson explained that scheduling complications are largely to blame for Fast & Furious 11's filming delay. "That is one of the biggest challenges that franchise faces is that you've got a lot of guys like Dwayne [Johnson] and Vin [Diesel] and [Jason] Momoa and myself and everybody's super busy. So trying to get the stars to align so we can make that happen is a feat of nature," he said. While Vin Diesel remains synonymous with his Fast and Furious film series, some of his other action-packed efforts continue to fly under the radar. One such effort is his 2015 fantasy film, The Last Witch Hunter, which is set to call Peacock home very soon.

However, Vin Diesel has previously suggested that he really wants to bring the franchise back down to the ground with the same kind of gritty street racing that made the original movies a success. Now another star of the franchise has echoed the sentiment, which is also something that many fans would like to see as the saga comes to a close.

Original Fast star Jordana Brewster recently shared her thoughts on how she would like to see the franchise go “back to the roots” of the saga. In an interview with Collider to promote her new movie Heart Eyes with Final Destination star Devon Sawa, Brewster said:

Vin Diesel announced that “Fast X: Part 2” will finish shooting in Los Angeles, the city that provided the setting for the first film in the long-running franchise, as a way to bolster a local economy that’s been hit hard by devastating wildfires.

Two former A24 stars have been cast in Louis Leterrier's new thriller 11817. Leterrier is a French-born director known for his work in the action film sector. He made his directorial feature debut in 2002 with the action film The Transporter. He would go on to direct the sequel to that Jason Statham-led franchse. In 2023, Leterrier made his foray into a major existing IP, the Fast and Furious franchise, when he directed Fast X, an installment that saw him re-team with Statham and work with other major stars such as Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Vin Diesel, and Charlize Theron.
