Have you ever wondered what it would be like if someone decided to make a Vietnam War movie that had dinosaurs in it? If you have, today is your lucky day. Even if you haven't, today is also your lucky day because this concept is being introduced to you in the form of the first teaser trailer for "Primitive War." This is a very real movie that is coming out this year that is based on a very real book. Check it out for yourself above and marvel at what's coming.
There's a lot to discuss here. There are lots of dinosaur movies that aren't "Jurassic Park." Everything from "The Land Before Time" to "The VelociPastor." But in the realm of blockbuster entertainment, the "Jurassic" franchise has had a stranglehold on the genre for decades. While "Primitive War" is probably closer to a mockbuster, it does look pretty darn good,...

The first trailer for Primitive War is here, and it’s a wild mix of military action and dinosaur horror. The movie stars Ryan Kwanten (True Blood) and Jeremy Piven (Entourage) as U.S. soldiers in the Vietnam War who discover something terrifying in the jungle—dinosaurs.
Directed by Australian filmmaker Luke Sparke, Primitive War is based on Ethan Pettus’ book series. The story follows an elite military team called Vulture Squad, sent into a remote jungle in 1968 to find a missing platoon of Green Berets. But instead of just enemy soldiers, they face prehistoric monsters.
“Three days ago, I lost my Green Berets. There was something going on in that battle,” Piven’s character says in the tense trailer. As the squad fights to survive, they realize they must become as savage as the creatures hunting them.
Sparke, who also co-wrote and produced the film, was excited by the crazy concept.

They call it “high concept.” In the upcoming Primitive War, soldiers in Vietnam do battle with prehistoric dinosaurs, and the teaser trailer for the action/horror/sci-fi movie has arrived.
Debuted by THR this morning, watch the teaser trailer for Primitive War below! “This ain’t no walk in the park,” the trailer promises, taking a shot at Jurassic Park in the process.
On that note, it’s awesome to see filmmakers outside the Jurassic franchise playing with dinosaurs, as that’s something we haven’t seen enough of over the years. The high concept approach to the material here reminds us a bit of the 2023 movie 65, which saw Adam Driver going up against dinosaurs. And it looks like Primitive War has enough of a budget behind it to make the dinosaur action look pretty damn good, which gives us hope for this one.

Hulu has added some great original series to the streaming service, including the sequel sitcom How I Met Your Father and chilling documentary series like Killing County. Between the streaming service's originals, and their partnership with networks like Fxx, they have amassed a broad collection of bingeworthy drama series that offer something different for every viewer. Of the genres they offer, romance is always a fan-favorite, with new hits and old classics for audiences to enjoy.
Among that collection are some of the steamiest romance series on TV, like Rivals and High Fidelity. Hulu also has a collection of complex dramas that mix their sexy themes with action, thrills, and comedy. The best steamy shows on Hulu are more than what they appear, blending different themes and genres to create something fresh and compelling.

While actors, writers, and directors often want to continue indefinitely when they’ve got a hit TV show on their hands, it’s always disappointing for audiences when a show continues past its prime. It can be tempting to continually renew a show when there’s a willing audience eagerly excited about a new season, but this often leads to series that continue well past their prime and are artificially extended with convoluted plotlines and a rotating cast of main characters. There were even some shows that peaked early and should have ended with season one, yet continued needlessly for years on end.
Some hit TV shows had the potential to be among the best shows ever made, yet too many seasons meant they lost their appeal, and viewers slowly lost interest and stopped watching. Other examples had an excellent premise in their earliest seasons, but they decided to introduce...

October and November are the perfect months to embrace the spooky nature of supernatural TV shows, abundant with vampires, werewolves, and romance. Autumnal and Halloween entertainment doesn't have to be restricted to bone-chilling horror and gore. Sometimes the spooky season's TV binging sessions can be filled with supernatural romance shows that are equally thrilling and heartwarming. The smash hit book and film series Twilight helped popularize the supernatural romance genre and the idea of the vampire boyfriend, bringing it to the forefront in other properties.
One of the ways the Twilight movies have actually aged well is in how they established this subgenre. Supernatural romance TV shows combine morbid thrills, suspense, and horror elements with the romantic drama of passionate love stories and overall autumnal tones. James Wan has been an accomplished director in the horror genre for just shy of two decades. While he's directed other films outside the horror genre, most of his horror creations have become successful franchises. He began his career by co-creating and directing the movie Saw with Leigh Whannell. Wan eventually worked up to building The Conjuring Universe, which has grossed over 2 billion dollars.
While Wan has had mega success within the horror film scene, some of his films have had mixed reviews. Not all are winners, but there are some phenomenal horror films and lore within the movies that he's made. With over nine horror films directed, some precede others in greatness.

Streaming has allowed many movies to discover a new audience years after their initial release, even those that would usually have dropped out of existence thanks to their dismal performance in cinemas, or terrible reviews. Viewers looking for something to pass the time at home dont seem to really care about such things when a movie is in front of them to watch for free, and that is probably why The Hurricane Heist has found renewed success despite Rotten Tomatoes audiences scoring it a lowly 28%.

While the True Blood reboot is currently off the table, the show still has a devoted fanbase and may be considered for revival in the future.

True Blood's Joe Manganiello believes the cast, due to its high caliber, was "really overqualified" to feature in the show. The actor played the werewolf Alcide Herveaux on the hit HBO vampire series.
Per Variety, Manganiello, in a recent episode of Podcrushed, reflected that although True Blood was an intelligent show that still had cultural resonance, the quality of actors it attracted was enviable given their talent, training, experience, and extensive rsums. "What's funny about True Blood was, you know, we were all really, really overqualified," he said. "Well, I should say the material was deceptively tricky because it was kind of written in like Tennessee Williams. It was very operatic at times."

Haunted paintings have a long history in horror cinema and literature, but this Gothic tale sees début director Simon Ross, working from a script by David Griffiths (who wrote William Friedkin’s The Hunted), take the idea in a different direction. Here the painting is both a force in itself and a metaphor for what is left behind when a person’s body remains but the mind which once inhabited it is gone.
Alex Debose (Ryan Kwanten) is such a man. A little way into the film, through which he drifts on autopilot, guided by wife Sofia (Natalia Cordova-Buckley), we learn that he has suffered an accident, leaving him with brain damage which doctors believe to be permanent. The accident occurred when the couple were arguing, adding to Sofia’s burden of guilt. Friends and strangers alike advise her that she needs to let go and allow him to be cared for in.

Despite the odd cliche, a thriller with an unnerving picture at its core is coated with unsettling energy and a standout performance from Mexican actor Natalia Córdova-Buckley
Simon Ross’s capable debut can be hung in a gallery of films featuring unnerving paintings, from The Picture of Dorian Gray to Ghostbusters 2 and In the Mouth of Madness. Wife turned carer Sofia (Natalia Córdova-Buckley) stumbles across an uncanny canvas in the attic of the mansion to which she has brought her catatonic husband Alex (Ryan Kwanten); it is supposedly a self-portrait of his great-grandfather, but she is startled to find that it is a spitting image of Alex. While this gothic chestnut, and the psychodrama that follows – with Sofia unsure how much is the product of her own under-siege mind – feel familiar, Ross injects them with a troubling inner turbulence that bodes well for him.

Rewatching beloved shows can reveal the unflattering behaviors and toxic traits of once-admired main characters. Cultural norms and evolving social standards can make certain dynamics and character traits cringe-worthy in retrospect. Protagonists that were initially crafted to be likable and relatable can turn into flawed and alienating characters upon a second viewing.
The main character of a TV show is crafted to be engaging and able to endear themselves to audiences, but the passage of time hasn't been kind to certain characters. As time passes and the show is revisited, certain aspects of the character are brought to light, making it evident that the character isn't who they initially appeared to be. Typically, a show’s protagonist serves as an empathetic anchor that viewers want to see succeed despite the flaws that humanize them. However, rewatching a series reveals unflattering behaviors and toxicity beneath the superficial charm of certain beloved main characters.

Pathological grief and a mysterious painting consume Sofia's mind and life in Saban Films' The Portrait, a hallucinatory horror movie. Sofia becomes convinced that her husband Alex is identical to the subject of a self-portrait, known as Calvin, who was an abusive monster. Mags (played by Virginia Madsen) believes that Calvin's lingering presence explains the series of haunting events that plague Sofia, blurring the lines between reality and fiction.
Saban Films' upcoming psychological horror movie The Portrait considers the concept of pathological grief and ties it to a strange painting. Directed by Simon Ross and written by David Griffiths, the film follows Sofia (Agents of Shield's Natalia Cordova-Buckley) and her husband Alex (True Blood star Ryan Kwanten). From slashers set in the middle of the woods to bone-chilling haunted houses, the horror genre's versatility never ceases to terrify the different types of horror fan. That said, there are plenty of movies in the genre that aren't for the faint of heart, and watching these creepy films with the lights on can be advised.

Halloween is an especially great time to watch these terrifying movies, and there's always something for everyone. Horror is at its best when it can scare viewers enough to look over their shoulders and switch the lights on for some extra piece of mind, and some movies are a testament to that.
