Sarah Wayne Callies is opening up about her experience filming Prison Break.
The actress appeared on Rachel Bilson’s podcast Broad Ideas and opened up about the “rampant misogyny” and the challenges she faced being “the only woman around.”
“I mean, like, I’ve had an actor on that show spit in my face. And I was like, ‘Holy s***,'” Callies said.
Callies surprised Bilson and her co-host Olivia Allen at the revelation, with the Prison Break alum saying she “will get there on the podcast” about the series she co-hosts with Paul Adelstein.
“We will talk about it someday, but there were… There were things. Like, I would go home some nights and have to spend an hour talking my husband out of going to hospitalize somebody,” she said.

From its opening landscape shot of a forest complete with moody voice on top, The Retaliators looks very good indeed. There is definitely an energy reminiscent of a heavy metal music video here, in both sound and visuals, but it works well with the theme and the tone of the movie. Directed by Samuel Gonzalez Jr. and Bridget Smith and penned by the team of Darren Geare and Jeff Allen Geare, this is a good old revenge flick and boy-oh-boy do I enjoy a revenge flick.
There is something very bitterly precise about this, something that looks you in the eye and doesn’t look away, a solid sledgehammer to the face in the guise of vengeance.

Paul Giamatti has always wanted to work with David Lynch, and he almost got his chance with the Twin Peaks revival series several years ago.
While speaking with The Wrap, Paul Giamatti revealed that he nearly played one of the Mitchum brothers on the Twin Peaks revival, but was forced to turn it down due to scheduling issues. “The person that I’ve always wanted to work with and had an opportunity to and it didn’t happen was David Lynch,” Giamatti said. “It just logistically couldn’t work out, which was heartbreaking to me. We just couldn’t fit it, schedule-wise. So that was a bummer.“

Who’s ready to go back behind bars? In a surprise announcement, Deadline reports that Mayans M.C. co-creator, executive producer, and showrunner Elgin James is developing a new Prison Break project for Hulu. Written and executive-produced by James through his Sierra Drive studio, the revised version marks a new chapter of the incarceration thriller.
Elgin is keeping details about the new Prison Break project in solitary. However, Deadline says, “it is not expected to involve the characters who were at the center of the original series and its followups on Fox.” The original Prison Break debuted in 2005, following Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) as two brothers hatching a plan to escape Fox River State Penitentiary. With Lincoln heading for Death Row, it’s only a matter of time before push comes to shove, and the brothers must enact their plan or face the consequences of their actions.

Tom Sizemore passed away on March 3, 2023, about two weeks after suffering an aneurysm. Once one of Hollywood's most ubiquitous supporting actors, he was always a reliable presence in any film he appeared in, with his trademark ice-cold stare and husky laugh. He also possessed a truly unique attribute: a brooding, taciturn toughness that has become increasingly rare these days, shared by the likes of Michael Madsen, Chris Penn, and Ray Liotta.
Sizemore was a cut above those guys, though, with an uncanny ability to turn his heavy-lidded, sparkling eyes from charming to chilling at the drop of a hat. Look at the actor's cameo in "Enemy Of The State." He essentially plays a comic role, a broad, larger-than-life mobster, and yet when he shifts gears to a more intimidating presence, it doesn't feel jarring, but genuinely menacing instead.

"Whatever help I provide is for you, and only for you." Lionsgate has unveiled an official trailer for a new serial killer thriller titled Mindcage, from a director you've definitely not heard of before. This seems like it's a mix between "Mindhunter" and Silence of the Lambs, with a woman going directly to a serial killer in prison for help solving a new case. Mindcage follows detectives Jake Doyle and Mary Kelly as they seek the help of an incarcerated serial killer named "The Artist" when a copycat killer strikes. While Mary searches for clues in The Artist's brilliant but horrifically twisted psyche, they're lured into a diabolical game of cat & mouse, racing against time to stay one step ahead of the killer(s). The film stars Martin Lawrence, Melissa Roxburgh, John Malkovich, Robert Knepper, Aiden Turner, & Jacob Grodnik. The coolest / freakiest part is the way the victims are turned into art,...

Movies about WWII and the Nazi's creating some sort of supernatural entity/soldier/curse to help them win the war have become quite common over the past few years and while the staying power and quality of these varies wildly, once in a while one comes along that surpasses expectation. WarHunt is definitely one of those.
Written and directed by Mauro Borrelli, WarHunt stars Robert Knepper as Sergeant Brewer, a seasoned veteran who leads a group of soldiers into Germany's Black forest to secure the top-secret cargo that was lost when a US military cargo plane crashed. Among his soldiers is Walsh (Jackson Rathbone), a soldier with specialized training that will prove helpful to this particular mission.

During his 1980s and ’90s heyday as a frightfully prolific star of blood-and-thunder direct-to-video fare, Wings Hauser once aptly described his target audience as “the microwave-burrito guys at 2 a.m. with a beer in their hands” — and, presumably, a Vcr remote switch nearby. Nowadays, that audience can digitally stream their B-movies of choice. But while the favored cuisine of these undiscriminating customers might have changed, the cinematic product they consume remains pretty much the same, albeit enhanced by better production values and, with all due respect to Mr. Hauser, superior star power.
All of which brings us to “WarHunt,” a modestly diverting mashup of WWII actioner and horror thriller that would not have been out of place on a New Release shelf at Blockbuster not so terribly long ago. Wait, scratch that: It would have been a standout on the shelf, if only when compared to the many lesser titles stocked around it.

"I promise I'll get us all out of here!" Saban Films has debuted an official trailer for an action thriller horror feature titled WarHunt, from filmmaker Mauro Borrelli. This is arriving on VOD in January, taking that usual slot (earlier this year it was another WWII action thriller horror feature called Shadow in the Cloud). WarHunt has a similar vibe to Dog Soldiers or the more recent Overlord. A US military plane crash lands in the German forest during World War II. As the soldiers venture into the forest, they discover dead bodies with organs missing and mysterious signs. Soon they start to find some kind of demons out there. But what exactly is it?! The cast includes Mickey Rourke, Jackson Rathbone, Robert Knepper, Josh Burdett, Alex Mills, Fredrik Wagner, Matt Mella, Timo Willman, and Ben McKeown. Oh damn this actually looks pretty good! It leans into the supernatural a bit more than Overlord,...

A new two-hour documentary about Janet Jackson, simply titled “Janet,” will premiere in January 2022 on Lifetime and A&e in celebration of the star’s 40th anniversary of her debut album.
Jackson released a teaser for the documentary, in which fellow musicians such as Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul speak about their relationship with the singer. If “Redemption Day” were any more generic, the first thing you’d see on screen would be a bar code in place of the opening credits. It’s the handiwork of first-time feature filmmaker Hicham Hajji, making his directorial debut after years of assistant-directing gigs for Hollywood and homegrown productions in his native Morocco. And the best thing to say to say about it is, it’s certainly no worse than most other run-of-the-mill, run-and-gun action-adventures that used to proliferate on Blockbuster store shelves and which now feed the seemingly insatiable demand for VOD fare. Trouble is, it’s no better, either.

"What if he escape from a zoo, or something?" Lionsgate has released a trailer for Lena and Snowball, a charming lion cub drama based on a true story. This seems to be a cheesy American remake of the French film Mia and the White Lion, about a young woman who befriends a lion cub living in Africa. This one has a similar story. Lena tries to keep playful Snowball out of trouble, but the clumsy poachers who kidnapped the valuable cub, and the cruel trophy collector who paid for him, are desperate to get him back. That sounds like an entirely uninspired story. Melissa Collazo stars in this as Lena; she's joined by Robert Knepper, Wade Williams, Branscombe Richmond, Ansuman Bhagat, and Elliott Sancrant. This looks way too much like it's trying to capitalize on the "Tiger King" buzz, and retell a story in a more cheesy way than actually...

Though production around the world has shut down amid the ongoing global health crisis, one movie has, against all odds, wrapped shooting. Starring Mickey Rourke, the World War II fantasy film “Warhunt” has, according to Variety, finished production while filming in Riga, the capital of Latvia, where cast and crew were allowed to continue working under strict guidelines.
According to the report, the filmmakers and cast had to wear face masks and gloves, have their temperature taken twice a day, and abide by social-distancing and hygiene guidelines in Latvia, where the current number of confirmed Covid-19 cases is 812 as of Sunday. The country has seen only 12 deaths so far, along with more than 260 recoveries.

Mickey Rourke Fantasy Horror Movie ‘Warhunt’ Wraps After Shooting During Covid-19 Crisis (Exclusive)
World War II fantasy horror movie “Warhunt,” starring Mickey Rourke, has wrapped after it continued shooting during the Covid-19 crisis.
The crew on the project, which shot in Riga, capital of Latvia, were allowed to continue working by abiding by government guidelines. These included having to don facemasks and gloves, having their temperature taken twice a day, social distancing, and disinfecting equipment.
Rourke says: “I came to Riga to work and this thing (Covid-19) was so out of control, but everyone was so great.”
Yu-Fai Suen, one of the producers, says Rourke’s dates had to be adjusted. “We had to rearrange the schedule for Mickey Rourke as the country was closing its borders, and luckily he agreed to fly early to beat the closure, and we rescheduled his shoot days to accommodate this change.”
Speaking about the adjustments on set, Suen says: “There were additional procedures on set, but...

Welcome to the West, long after the frontier has closed. Allison Anders’ marvelous drama of a three-girl family is a big step for indie cinema, a highly entertaining examination of women’s aspirations and frustrations out on the non-glamorous working class fringe. Writer-director Anders wastes no time with a terrific cast — Brooke Adams, Ione Skye and Fairuza Balk’s family lacks a father, and ‘men who walk’ becomes the central issue in their lives. Filmed in a gloriously believable New Mexico desert.

Mandy Patinkin has this year earned his fourth Best Drama Supporting Actor Emmy nomination for portraying CIA operative Saul Berenson on Showtime’s “Homeland.” This marks the actor’s seventh career nomination, having previously been recognized for “Chicago Hope” (1995 and 1999), winning on the first occasion, and “The Larry Sanders Show” (1992). Patinkin, also a Tony Award winner (Best Musical Featured Actor for “Evita” in 1980), has submitted for voters’ consideration the sixth episode of the season, “Species Jump.”
In the episode, Saul gathers a team, including ex-cia Russian expert Sandy (Catherine Curtin) and tech specialist Clint (Peter Vack), to investigate how Russian national Yevgeny Gromov (Costa Ronin) was involved in the Lucasville Massacre, a violent standoff between the FBI and followers of right-wing radio personality Brett O’Keefe (Jake Weber) that resulted in several casualties.

Exclusive: As the advancement of technology continues to replace the need for human labor, American History X director Tony Kaye is undertaking a new — and maybe controversial — step in filmmaking by employing an Artificial Intelligent (A.I.) actor as the lead in his next film, 2nd Born.
Unlike Robin Williams’ 1999 film Bicentennial Man or the Steven Spielberg-directed A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Kaye is aiming to cast a real robot, who will be trained in different acting methods and techniques. The idea, which originated from Kaye and producer Sam Khoze, is to forgo the use of computer-generated effects in favor of a physical A.I. robot as an actor, who they are hoping will get SAG recognition.
2nd Born is the sequel to 1st Born, an indie comedy directed by Ali Atshani and starring Val Kilmer, Tom Berenger, Greg Grunberg, Jay Abdo, Taylor Cole, Reza Sixo Safai, William Baldwin, Denise Richards and Robert Knepper.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday.
This week’s question: What’s a show that has become problematic for you to watch because of allegations that have come out about a star, producer, etc.? Do you still watch or have you dropped it altogether?
Daniel Fienberg (@TheFienPrint), The Hollywood Reporter
I could talk about how I gave the “Roseanne” reboot a reasonably positive review and then it became unwatchable basically immediately, but I don’t want to talk about “Roseanne” or Roseanne anymore. It was definitely awful and distracting timing that “iZombie” gave a big arc to Robert Knepper’s character just as multiple accusations of sexual misconduct were alleged against him. I think we’re about to head into a real wave of shows where I can’t say with certainty how they’re going to play.

Five episodes were provided prior to broadcast.
From the get-go, the various elements iZombie boasts that made me a fan were its clever writing, amazing performances put forth by lead actress Rose McIver, and the fact that it can’t be pinned down to a single genre. But what assured that I’d keep coming back for more was that each successive season was better than the last. And after viewing the first handful of episodes from the current run, it may be too early for me to say that proud tradition will continue, though it’s more than apparent the series is still going very, very strong.
Actually, it’s quite understandable if even some of the most devout viewers went into this season with some trepidation, despite all that was listed above. After all, season 3’s finale completely turned the series on its head by turning 10,000 Seattle residents...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Homeland” Season 7, Episode 1, “Enemy of the State.”]
Did the President of the United States just have an American general murdered?
By the end of the “Homeland” Season 7 premiere, that certainly appears to be the case. But no matter how soapy such a twist may sound, it’s a fantastic move for all fans of “Homeland” — provided the series follows through.
Wrapping up an hour that established President Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) as a “fascist,” the first episode’s final seconds pushed her iron fist even further: General McClendon (Robert Knepper), who committed treason by plotting to kill President Keane at the end of Season 6, is dishonorably discharged and sentenced to life in prison. But the president thinks he’s getting off too easy and tells her chief of staff David Wellington (Linus Roache) to “fix it” — implying from earlier conversations that she wants her original wishes carried out: She wants McClendon dead,...
