Sarah Silverman Reveals Her Absolutely Insane Bedtime Routine on ‘Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney’
Image
Zero out of 10 dentists recommend following Sarah Silverman’s bedtime routine.

Tonight’s installment of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney touched on a topic that roughly 12 percent of Americans will find to be all too relevant: “Why Can’t I Sleep?” The insomnia-focused episode featured a blindfolded Mulaney talking through the sleep habits of his guests, his fans and his sidekick alongside an unreasonably handsome neuroscientist, and the seemingly mundane subject brought out some batshit insane stories from the group, such as when Richard Kind revealed that he once took a nap in the bathroom during a date.

But of all the bizarre and unhealthy sleep routines featured on tonight’s Everybody’s Live, stand-up legend Sarah Silverman had by far the most inadvisable and inimitable strategy for falling asleep every night. As she explained to the panel, Silverman starts her wind-down by flossing her teeth, then she smokes weed,...

Richard Kind Reveals That He Once Took A Bathroom Nap in the Middle of A Date
Image
On tonight’s episode of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, Richard Kind revealed the secret of his sexual prowess: power naps.

With his Netflix talk show, John Mulaney wants to reimagine the late-night format through the lens of sheer insanity, an ambition he could only achieve with the help of the single most chaotic side-kick in show business. Kind, 68, has committed to the bit of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney so hard that he has often stolen the entire show, such as when he broke Pete Davidson by screaming “He’s in the Order of the Gash!,” or when he threw on his finest ripped T-shirt to perform a perfect Bill Belichick parody.

Then, during tonight's episode of Everybody's Live, the topic of sleep trouble perfectly segued into what Mulaney is calling “my favorite Richard Kind story of all time” as the veteran stage and screen actor revealed...

‘Poker Face’ Showrunner Tony Tost Talks Throwing Out the Rule Book for Season 2 in Big Episode 3 Twist
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “Poker Face” Season 2, Episode 3.

Any “Poker Face” fan would have expected the second installment of the Rian Johnson-created series to play out in a similar way to last season: Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie Cale travels across the country in her Plymouth Barracuda solving murders before the finale sees her come face-to-face with the current antagonist.

But, instead, “Poker Face” threw out the rule book and eliminated the threat looming over Charlie from mob boss Beatrix Hasp (Rhea Perlman) in just the third episode of the season with an FBI string gone wrong that puts Beatrix into witness protection and Charlie without a hit on her head.

“When we started talking about different options of a … through-line, I don’t think any of them really excited us creatively,” showrunner Tony Tost told TheWrap. “We’re under that assumption that you have this big bad...

Poker Face Season 2 Lands 100% Rotten Tomatoes Score After Premiere
Image
The first season of Rian Johnson and Natasha Lyonne's Poker Face drew praise that was universal, giving it a near-perfect score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. Season 2 has since debuted with its first three episodes, and the new season is off to an incredible start with a score that's even more impressive.

Currently, Season 2 of Poker Face has a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Like the first season, Lyonne has drawn a lot of praise in particular for her performance as Charlie Cale. The new season's guest stars are also getting some high marks. While the 100% score could potentially drop if future episodes are not as well-received, there's no doubt that the second season couldn't be off to a better start.

"Poker Face Season 2 doesn’t just match the first season, it confidently surpasses it," reads a review by Discussing Film critic Nicolas Celgadillo. "The Peacock series firmly solidifies its own unique rhythm,...

'Maybe He Shouldn't [Come Back]': Inside Out Star Addresses Bing Bong's Absence in the Sequel
Image
Richard Kind, the voice of Bing Bong in the Inside Out franchise, has explained why his character wasn't present in the recent sequel. He spoke about the character, playing the role, and why Bing Bong didn't need to come back for Inside Out 2.

Per Screen Rant, Kind revealed that he actually has connections with Pixar Cco and director Pete Docter, but he didn't feel the need to use them to reprise his role. "There's one thing I don't do is ask friends for work, or even intimate friends for work. So, when I wasn't in Inside Out 2, it was all fine, and I couldn't have been there, because it would have been a false reality," Kind said. "We all know what happened to Bing Bong."

The first Inside Out film, which starred Amy Poehler as Joy and Phyllis Smith as Sadness, saw the emotions teaming up with Bing Bong,...

Bing Bong Inside Out Prequel Pitched By Star After $1.7B Sequel Absence: "That Would Be A Good TV Series"
Image
Richard Kind’s beloved Inside Out character may have missed out on 2024’s sequel, but the veteran Pixar voice actor has his own ideas for a prequel TV series. Having previously lent his vocal talents to A Bug’s Life, Cars, Cars 2, and Toy Story 3, Kind played the forgotten imaginary friend Bing Bong in 2015’s Inside Out. In a touching sequence, Bing Bong valiantly sacrifices himself to allow Amy Poehler’s Joy to escape the Memory Dump and save Riley (Kaitlyn Dias). Having been erased from Riley’s memory, Bing Bong sadly did not return for 2024’s Inside Out 2.

Speaking with ScreenRant about his appearance in Poker Face season 2, Kind spoke about his desire to reprise his Inside Out character in what he envisions as a prequel television series. Suggesting the show could follow Bing Bong and Riley when she is around three or four years of age, the...

Bing Bong's Inside Out 2 Absence Gets Honest Explanation From Pixar Star: "It Would Have Been A False Reality"
Image
Exclusive: Richard Kind addresses his absence from Inside Out 2, explaining why he feels Bing Bong not returning for the sequel ultimately benefited the franchise's journey so far. Kind's imaginary friend was a key character of the 2015 Pixar animated feature, being the long-forgotten companion of Riley whom Joy (Amy Poehler) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) stumble across on their journey back to Headquarters. The 2024 sequel focuses its attention on Riley's existing Emotions as they grapple with some new Emotions joining their ranks.

While Kind sat down to discuss his appearance in Poker Face season 2 with Screen Rant, the actor revealed why he found himself omitted from Inside Out 2. Though the actor is on good terms with Pixar Cco and director Peter Docter, Kind not only had no desire to use his connections to join the cast but felt it could lessen the character's impact. Check out Kind's full response below:

‘Poker Face’: Simon Helberg on Singing Sondheim With John Mulaney and ‘Getting Into the S—‘ During Big Shootout Scene
Image
Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from “Poker Face” Season 2, Episode 3, now streaming on Peacock.

FBI agent Luca Clark (Simon Helberg) returned for more action in Episode 3 of “Poker Face,” which is in the midst of a second season boasting more murders, more Charlie (Natasha Lyonne) investigations and more guest stars — including stand-up comedian John Mulaney.

Rian Johnson’s charming murder-of-the-week show features different marquee guest stars in every episode. But since Helberg plays one of the show’s few recurring characters, he’s had a chance to grow the trajectory of Luca since Season 1.

“It’s exciting to see how he fumbles up the ladder, starting from driving around geriatric retired ex-cons in witness protection, all the way to cracking these really significant cases for the FBI and getting into the shit,” Helberg tells Variety. “As an actor, it’s a real dream because I haven’t gotten to...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Poker Face Season 2, Episode 3, “Whack-a-Mole.”] Poker Face seemingly wrapped up Season 1’s big mobster arc in Season 2’s third installment, “Whack-a-Mole,” as Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne) was kidnapped by boss Beatrix Hasp (Rhea Perlman). Used by Beatrix to try and sniff out a mole with her human lie detector skills, Charlie tried to uncover who was responsible for leaking details about Beatrix’s attempt to evade capture from authorities. Ultimately, the man responsible was her own loving husband, Jeffrey (Richard Kind), who wanted out of a life on the run. He served as an informant to Luca Clark (Simon Helberg), who promised to help Jeffrey get out of trouble if he turned on Beatrix and her crew. Meanwhile, Luca’s colleague, Daniel Clyde Otis (John Mulaney), was working with Beatrix to supply her with information, unaware that Jeffrey had flipped. 'Night Court's Future Has Been Judged by NBC
Image
The NBC jury has reached a verdict, your honor, and it is bad news for Night Court fans. The reboot of the classic Reinhold Weege sitcom was firmly on the bubble for the network after drawing a more modest audience than its first two seasons under Dan Rubin. In the end, Melissa Rauch will not be returning to the bench as Judge Abby Stone for Season 4, as the series has been cancelled per Deadline. The news comes just days after Season 3 served out the final two episodes of its 18-episode sentence with a bombshell reveal that changed everything for Judge Stone.

Night Court kicked off on a white-hot note when it debuted in 2023. According to Nielsen ratings at the time, the reboot had been NBC's biggest comedy premiere since 2017, only being surpassed by the reboot of Will & Grace. Since then, the series settled into a groove, bringing zany courtroom...

Natasha Lyonne, Rian Johnson Reveal Where ‘Poker Face’ Season 2 Goes Now
Image
[This story contains spoilers from the three-episode premiere of Poker Face season two.]

Poker Face is back and after watching the first three episodes of season two, you may be wondering if creator-writer-director Rian Johnson just resolved the show’s over-arching hook.

The first season of the murder-mystery-of-the-week show starring writer-director Natasha Lyonne introduced Lyonne’s detective protagonist, Charlie Cale, as a fugitive with an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying, which helps her solve murders that she stumbles upon. As she hit the road in her Plymouth Barracuda trying to outrun the mob boss trying to kill her (played by Ron Perlman) and his henchman (Benjamin Bratt), she solved a new murder mystery each episode. The season functioned in a standalone format, but had an over-arching big bad tying it all together, and the cliffhanger season one finale put new mob boss Beatrix Hasp (Rhea Perlman) on Charlie’s trail.

That finale set up a second...

Rian Johnson on the Future of ‘Poker Face’
Image
This post contains spoilers for the first three episodes of Poker Face Season Two, now streaming on Peacock.

And then, because she was on the run from vengeful mobster Sterling Frost (Ron Perlman), she had to quickly move onto a new town.

Poker Face Season 2 Fixes The Biggest Problem With Season 1
Image
Spoilers for "Poker Face" season 2 follow.

"Poker Face" is back for season 2 (read our review here), and I couldn't be more delighted. Rian Johnson's wonderful little streaming series is what's called a "howcatchem" rather than a "whodunit": while there's a murder at the center of every episode, these aren't murder mysteries, at least not to the audience. Borrowing a page out of the "Columbo" playbook, each episode tells us who the killer is upfront. From there, it's up to the show's main sleuth, Charlie Cale, to crack the case. Unlike Columbo, Charlie, as played by Natasha Lyonne, isn't a professional detective. However, she does have the uncanny ability to know when someone is lying; she's basically a human lie detector. Because of this gift, Charlie is always able to tell when a killer is bending the truth, and she usually takes it upon herself to save the day...

Image
Now that she has been caught by the mob, how will Charlie (Natasha Lyonne) get out of this one? A star-studded ensemble delivers one of the funniest episodes of Poker Face yet. Yet “Whack-a-Mole” also makes a Rhea Perlman/Natasha Lyonne scene pairing possible for a half dozen sequences. That alone makes “Whack-a-Mole” worth your time. With John Mulaney, Simon Helberg, and Richard Kind on the edge of the episode, there are plenty of laughs and strange bits to elevate this to one of our favorite comedy episodes of the year.

‘Poker Face’ Season 2 Episode 3 Recap & Ending Explained: Did Beatrix Kill Charlie?
Image
In the second episode of Poker Face Season 2, Charlie’s search for a somewhat steady source of income took her to a funeral home where a film was being shot. There, she became pretty friendly with Greta, the wife of the owner of the funeral home, Fred. ‘Big Mouth’: Nick Goes Through Puberty and the Kids Start High School in Final Season Trailer
Image
To quote Nick Kroll’s Maury, “It’s the end of a very gross era.” “Big Mouth” dropped the trailer for its eighth and final season on Wednesday, and it’s just as upsetting and surprisingly sweet as this raunchy animated comedy has always been. The longest-running scripted Netflix original will premiere on May 23.

“Do you schmucks even know why you go through puberty?” Natasha Lyonne asks as a sassy new teacher. The video then cuts to a series of embarrassing scenes, from Missy (Ayo Edebiri) accidentally farting on another student’s lunch to Jessi (Jessi Klein) panicking about her Pms. But it’s not all humiliating bodily functions. The trailer also shows Lola (Kroll) introducing Matthew (Andrew Rannells) to something called the gay pornscape, a colorful land filled with men happily exploring their various kinks. And this season has a special surprise in store for one of its main...

Poker Face Season 2 TV Review: Natasha Lyonne and Rian Johnson reunite for more mystery-of-the-week shenanigans
Image
Plot: Poker Face is a mystery-of-the-week series following Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie, who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve.

Review: While Rian Johnson revived the whodunit on the big screen with Knives Out and the Netflix sequel Glass Onion, his charmingly retro small-screen series Poker Face has truly proven its worth in the tried-and-true genre. Echoing classic shows like Columbo and The Rockford Files, Poker Face‘s first season centered on Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne), who solved mysteries while on the run from gangsters looking to kill her. The overarching narrative of the first season was engaging, but the standalone mysteries boasting famous guest stars turned Poker Face into must-watch programming. After a two-year wait, Poker Face is back with another ten mysteries,...

Natasha Lyonne clarifies that her AI directing debut ‘Uncanny Valley’ is ‘not really an AI film’
Image
The second season of Poker Face was celebrated Thursday at the Hollywood Legion Theater where Natasha Lyonne, the star, executive producer, writer, and director, took a time-out from the premiere party to talk to Gold Derby about her upcoming movie, which has received plenty of attention this week.

Lyonne announced just days earlier that she was embarking on her feature film directorial debut, called Uncanny Valley, that would employ generative AI. Although Lyonne said she and her team would use the technology "ethically and creatively," the news was met with ambivalence due to industry-wide fear of artificial intelligence not only replacing artists but incorporating their work without permission.

Seemingly wary after some reports got it wrong, Lyonne on Thursday was cautious to note that Uncanny Valley “is not really an AI film.” Very aware of the reputation and threat the term AI carries in Hollywood, she clarified “ultimately, what this...

Phish Fans Were Way Too High for John Mulaney’s ‘Seinfeld’ Parody
Image
Had John Mulaney not wrapped up Wednesday’s show by outlining his plan to fight three 14-year-old boys, the weirdest part of the most recent episode of Everybody’s Live likely would have been the Phish-Seinfeld mash-up that nobody saw coming.

This week’s Body Double-inspired telescope bit revealed an oddly dilapidated replica of the Seinfeld apartment, which, to everyone’s surprise, was occupied by members of the band Phish, all wearing costumes and janky makeup that made them resemble the disfigured corpses of the sitcom’s four lead characters. Although, as Mulaney randomly pointed out, guitarist Trey Anastasio was not wearing a wig. “Phish is acting like Seinfeld, that’s fascinating!” sidekick Richard Kind exclaimed.

Things got even creepier when the the show began incoherently jump cutting between various takes of the Seinfeld parody, and dubbing in inexplicable existential musings like “I’m not ever going to heaven,...

Offering another set of clever, funny, and exciting mysteries, season two of Poker Face sees the show and its crew take some exciting, ambitious swings that establish it as one of the best shows right now.

Poker Face Season 2 Review

Season two of Poker Face picks up with Charlie (Natasha Lyonne) still on the run from the mob, travelling across the country doing odd jobs and finding herself in trouble. Each episode, she encounters a new set of larger-than-life characters who propel her into a shocking new mystery for her to solve with her uncanny “human lie detector” abilities.

Phish Cosplay Seinfeld in the Latest Brilliant Sketch from Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney
Image
If you haven’t yet tuned into an episode of John Mulaney’s weekly Netflix variety series Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, a sketch featuring the members of Phish dressed as the cast of Seinfeld might seem like a hallucination straight out of a jam band-inspired acid trip. But it’s actually par for the course on Mulaney’s talk show, which has quickly become one of television’s most captivating weekly watches—largely due to the wacky, absurd sketches dreamed up by Mulaney, with Netflix picking up the tab.

Get Phish Tickets Here

In the case of this week’s episode, Phish’s Trey Anastasio dressed as Jerry, Mike Gordon as George, Jon Fishman as Elaine, and Page McConnell as Kramer attempted to act out a Seinfeld scene. The bit started with Mulaney observing the band through his telescope, while sidekick Richard Kind wondered aloud if it was...

‘Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney’ Massively Roasts Bill Belichick and His Girlfriend
Image
Everybody is talking about Bill Belichick’s girlfriend and the strange timeline of their relationship. John Mulaney knows what that’s like — and he has notes.

When the host of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney divorced his first wife, multimedia artist Anna Marie Tendler, in January of 2022, he discovered that a huge portion of his fandom had very strong feelings about his personal life that bordered on hysteria, especially in regards to his new relationship with his current wife Olivia Munn. Widespread and unfounded speculation about the origins of the Mulaney-Munn connection dominated discussion about Mulaney both on social media and in the tabloids, and for a time, gossip about Mulaney’s personal life overshadowed his actual body of work in all online forums.

So, when the legendary, 73-year-old football coach found himself on the front page of every gossip magazine following a bizarre CBS interview that his 24-year-old...

Finding Nowhere Man — and Why TV’s Past Is Full of Hidden Gems
Image
I’ve been thirsty for TV to make me think. Something fresh. Who knew I’d have to turn to the past to get what I wanted?

And when you do find a hidden gem, sometimes you fall down a rabbit hole, and there’s no getting back out.

That’s precisely what happened when I stumbled onto Nowhere Man, a forgotten 1995 TV series starring Bruce Greenwood.

(Upn/Screenshot)

Diving into this show that was previously unknown to me made me realize just how many incredible shows are still buried in television’s past, waiting to be uncovered.

Most people know the famous one-season wonders — My So-Called Life, Firefly, Freaks and Geeks.

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony Reunite All Five Members for New Song ‘Aww Shit’
Image
Three weeks after John Mulaney tried and failed to reunite Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, the rap group’s core members have come back together for “Aww Shit,” their first new song in nearly 15 years.

The track features all the principal Bones — Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, and Flesh-n-Bone — for the first time since 2010’s Uni5: The World’s Enemy; while the Cleveland rap group has released albums over the past 15 years since, Krayzie and Wish Bone were absent from 2013’s The Art of War: World War III, while...

George Clooney Receives Sardi’s Portrait for Broadway Debut in ‘Good Night, and Good Luck’
Image
George Clooney received his Sardi’s caricature Thursday after making his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck this spring.

When asked to sign his portrait, Clooney quipped: “You got it. Brad Pitt.”

Clooney also joked about the difference in hair color between the portrait, which features his natural gray hair, and his current hair, which is dyed black for his role as Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, and Good Luck.

In addition to making his Broadway acting debut, Clooney co-wrote Good Night, and Good Luck with Grant Heslov after the two had penned the 2005 film version. The play, which opened at the Winter Garden Theatre on April 3, follows Murrow and the staff of CBS as he takes aim at Senator Joseph McCarthy.

Sardi’s, a well-known restaurant in the theater district, typically honors select Broadway stars by presenting them with caricatures that are then featured in the restaurant for decades to come.

Ayo Edebiri Calls John Mulaney ‘Maybe Probably Insane’ in Wild ‘Everybody’s Live’ Letterboxd Review
Image
On Wednesday evening, shortly after Ayo Edebiri made her entrance through the remarkably heavy doors of Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney (a feat even fellow guest Conan O’Brien struggled with on the same episode), she got comfortable and opened an envelope containing a review of the show she wrote for Letterboxd. Since 2018, the Bear star has reviewed movies on the movie-journaling social network, many of which have gone viral.

Fortuitously for Mulaney, she seemed to like his freewheeling talk show, comparing watching it to crack, y’know, in a good way.

Film stars might seem to be making some inroads with this year’s New York Drama League Awards nominations – George Clooney, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Mescal, Mia Farrow and Jake Gyllenhaal, among others, are all accounted for – but stage stalwarts like Amber Gray, David Greenspan, André De Shields, Beth Leavel, and Idina Menzel are certainly well represented.

Disney Pixar's Most Upsetting Death Scene Was Almost Way Worse
Image
"Inside Out" is an emotional movie. Disney Pixar's internal gut-check of a film hit audiences of all ages in all the feels, leaving them wet-eyed as they processed through pre-teen Riley Anderson's internal struggles — a journey that is relatable on some level to anyone who calls themselves human. While the movie doesn't leave a dry eye in the room, it turns out that it could have cranked the waterworks up even higher if one death scene had been allowed to play out as originally planned.

We're talking about the tragic ending of one Bing Bong, the fantastical made-up friend from Riley's childhood, voiced by Richard Kind. In the final version of the movie, Bing Bong realizes that his weight (despite being mostly made of cotton candy) is preventing Joy (Amy Poehler) from escaping the gloomy Memory Dump on his rainbow-powered rocket-wagon. He encourages her to try one more time...

Richard Kind Seems Miffed That John Mulaney Didn’t Ask Him to Return to Their Show Before Announcing It
Image
As John Mulaney’s weekly Netflix talk show Everybody’s Live continues its deliberately chaotic 12-episode run, one of the few stabilizing factors has been sidekick and announcer Richard Kind.

Thankfully, Kind hasn’t been relegated to the sidelines, he’s participated in some of the show’s funniest bits, including when he behaved like Gene Simmons for an entire episode allegedly due to an oddly specific Kiss-related head injury.

Kind held the same role in last year’s iteration of the series, Everybody’s in L.A. But when it was confirmed that Mulaney’s unhinged show would be returning for a longer run in 2025, Kind’s name wasn’t included in the announcement, prompting some fans to threaten to “riot” if he wasn’t involved.

Well, it seems that the reason why Kind wasn’t name-checked in that press release is that nobody involved with Everybody’s Live...
