There’s something about Edward Norton that sets him apart. He doesn’t just play a character—he disappears into it. Every performance feels raw, lived-in, and totally believable, like he’s not acting at all. Whether he’s a troubled narrator, a reformed neo-Nazi, or a genius with a secret, Norton brings layers and intensity that few actors can match. He’s built a career on complexity, always choosing roles that leave a mark. Honestly, he’s not just part of modern cinema—he’s helped shape it.
Blowing up in the late 90s with a string of Oscar-worthy performances, Norton quickly became the guy directors had to work with. He’s teamed up with visionaries like David Fincher, Tony Kaye, and Wes Anderson, shared the screen with legends like Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins, and delivered some of the most iconic performances that created a shift in the world of filmmaking.

To many progressive rock fans, Yes, Genesis, and King Crimson represent the holy trinity of the genre. And the only person freakishly talented enough to log time in all three of them is drummer Bill Bruford, who pulled off the feat between 1972 and 1976. “I’m also the guy who left all three of those bands,” Bruford jokes with Rolling Stone via Zoom from his home in Surrey, England. “I’m famous for leaving bands.”
More recently, Bruford became famous for leaving music altogether. He stopped playing drums even for fun...

Hollywood Feuds, On-Set Clashes, Celeb Fights, Movie Drama, Behind-the-Scenes (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Hollywood lives and breathes drama — but well, folks, the literal action happens off-screen. Be it screaming matches or brawls, some of the biggest names in the industry have clashed behind the scenes, which left a trail of broken friendships, bruised egos, and unfathomable feuds.
Some fights ended with handshakes. Others? Not so much.
Bill Murray vs. Lucy Liu
The set of Charlie’s Angels had more than high kicks and undercover missions. Lucy Liu alluded in 2021 that Bill Murray stopped filming to unload on her. He hurled insults and claimed she “couldn’t act.” Drew Barrymore later backed her up, saying she witnessed the whole stuff. Liu didn’t just take it; she threw punches before crew members separated them.
Murray’s grudge ran deep. If Liu were in it, he refused to return for the 2003 sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

There are many factors that contribute to how strong of an impact a movie has on the audience. The originality of the idea; how profound, or occasionally disturbing, the themes touched upon are; the intensity of the actors' performances. Sometimes, however, some movies strike chords so deep, hit too close, or are so authentic that, regardless of their excellent execution, they should be enjoyed only once. The impact is too significant to ever recover from — and this is not limited to the most disturbing horror movies.
Usually, these movies are not the happiest stories you can find on screens, and not just because of a tragic ending. They are intense, challenging, and sometimes even shocking. In their daily life, people seek refuge in movies, but these sorts of titles provide everything but that. They offer something different: uncomfortable questions, doubts, and occasionally, unnerving truths. Although they are not common, there...

Did Edward Norton work to play a role in American History X? ( Photo Credit – Netflix )
Edward Norton gained 30 lbs of muscle, shaved his head, and ate seven times a day, focusing on chicken, turkey, and fish. No shortcuts.
Released in 1998, American History X became a powerful movie about race, redemption, and loyalty. Despite only making $23M on a $20M budget, Norton snagged an Oscar nomination for Best Leading Actor. His dedication brought Derek to life with raw, unflinching realism, making the character’s struggles hit harder and feel realer than ever.
Norton’s commitment went beyond physical changes. He took on the role after turning down Saving Private Ryan, showing how deeply invested he was in bringing authenticity to American History X. He shaved his head alongside co-star Edward Furlong and increased his caloric intake to build an intimidating physique. It was about embodying Derek’s raw power and unyielding energy.

“Eccentric” is a word we throw around a lot in Hollywood. We use it for financiers from faraway places with deep pockets and no real connection to show business. Or for actors that exist on different planes of consciousness and, perhaps, speak of cow birthing in their Oscar speeches. It’s a polite way of saying one is nutty.
But there are times when the word applies with a sort of affection, and holds appreciation for the fruits that eccentricity bears. Such is the case with Tony Kaye, the long-lost director of the cinephile favorite 1999 film “American History X.” Upon my rescheduling our original interview earlier this week, Kaye responded that he now had time to “drink my vegetable soup in peace.” When we do connect on Zoom, he spends a period muting his microphone and strumming a guitar before spitting out lyrical answers to questions. The Far Side has a lot of recurring themes, with pirates starring in some of its best strips. Larson imagines pirates getting specialized manicures, offering scores on walking the plank and being replaced by snakes. The common imagery of piracy creates a playground for Larson, who loves subverting common narratives and archetypes.
Gary Larson's The Far Side has a lot of recurring themes, from cowboys to clowns, but pirates are some of the most underrated. Larson's comics spend a lot of time out on the water, following luxury yachts, sinking lifeboats and ravenous sharks, however the best gags come from buccaneers and freebooters. From wooden legs to "yo ho ho," Larson mines pirate lore for both visual jokes and his characteristic surrealism.

Although recent years have witnessed fewer performances from Edward Norton, it is safe to say that fans do miss him. Norton has a reputation for being particularly intense on film sets, however, when he does, people are sure something great is going to come out on the other side. American History X was one such movie! His co-star in the movie, Edward Furlong, recently revealed what it was like working with such an actor.

Edward Norton’s Acting Process on the Set of American History X
Edward Norton‘s reputation for maintaining a no-nonsense attitude on set is well-known, yet it’s fascinating how his seriousness seamlessly aligned with the demands of American History X. The film required a gritty and intense portrayal, which Norton undoubtedly delivered flawlessly.

“Genres are a funny little concept, aren’t they?” says Linda Martell, a country music pioneer, in the intro to Beyoncé’s “Spaghettii.” “In theory, they have a simple definition that’s easy to understand, but in practice, well, some may feel confined.” Those two sentences perfectly sum up how Beyoncé has subverted expectations in recent years by spreading her wings beyond pop, hip-hop, and R&b to infuse rock, house, and now country music into her own unique style that ultimately really is just “Beyoncé.”

Julia Fox didn’t have much to say during the post-premiere Q&a of Steven Soderbergh’s ghost story Presence on Friday night, but the brief comments that came out of her mouth got a ton of laughs inside the Library Center Theatre — and maybe a few raised eyebrows.
After the credits rolled well past 11 p.m., moderator and Sundance director Eugene Hernandez asked the cast for their reactions to seeing the film for the first time. Standing in front of the big screen and joined by cast mates Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, Callina Liang, Eddy Maday and West Mulholland, Fox took the microphone as it was passed down the line.
“Traumatized,” she said in offering a one-word reaction while wearing a black sequined dress, leather gloves and a black hoodie with the word “Mom” on the chest. “I hadn’t even read the script, to be honest. But when Steven calls,...

"The Incredible Hulk" was an early stumbling block for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Released in June 2008, a mere month after "Iron Man," lightning did not strike twice for Marvel Studios' burgeoning movie enterprise; "Incredible Hulk" got a shrug from critics and underperformed at the box office.
Even so, Marvel Studios steamrolled ahead. Star Edward Norton didn't return for any future MCU films and Bruce Banner was recast with Mark Ruffalo for "The Avengers." The behind-the-scenes book "MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios" by Dave Gonzales, Gavin Edwards, and Joanna Robinson features a chapter about "The Incredible Hulk" and its gamma radiation-flavored fallout. The book ultimately puts the production's unpleasant memories on the shoulders of Edward Norton, suggesting his actor-as-auteur approach solidified Marvel's top-down filmmaking tactics.
An unnamed "Marvel performer" tells the authors, "We have a no-a**hole policy on our movies," and the book traces this policy back to Norton's behavior.

American History X portrays the dark reality of racism and the consequences of generational hatred. The use of black-and-white footage in the movie highlights Derek's black-and-white perspective of the world as a neo-Nazi leader. Danny's death, though not explicitly racially motivated, is a significant part of the larger conflict in the movie, emphasizing the generational baggage of racial tension.
Warning: Contains Spoilers for American History X.The ending of American History X shows the dark reality of racism and the consequences of generational hatred. American History X is the 1998 feature film debut of director Tony Kaye (who also served as his own director of photography) with a script by David McKenna, and features performances from Edward Norton, Edward Furlong, Ethan Suplee, Avery Brooks, and more. Batman has always had some of the strangest villains in comic book history, with his home of Gotham City populated by an above-average number of weird, unhinged rogues. Some have risen to be cultural icons in their own right – the Joker, of course, and the Riddler. At the same time, there are dozens upon dozens of Batman villains even dedicated fans have forgotten about for one reason or another.
The 11 extremely strange villains below represent some of the most out-there, bizarre, and in some cases, truly unsettling enemies Bruce Wayne has faced in his tenure as the Caped Crusader. While these characters did not have staying power as Batman antagonists, like Scarecrow, or Harley Quinn, examined together they provide insight into what Bruce – and the people of Gotham – deal with on a day-to-day basis.

Not bad for a story of a bored but determined girl who followed a nervous rabbit, moaning that he was getting late, into a bizarre underground world, and then, climbed through a mirror into a parallel world, set out like a chess board.
And in her peregrinations through these strange illogical worlds, she meets the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, the King and Queen of Hearts, the Gryphon, the Jabberwock, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Humpty Dumpty, the White Knight, and a host of many more.

Julia Fox is channeling her “Spring Breakers” energy this summer.
The “Uncut Gems” actress told Page Six she is currently in pre-production on film “Lipstick Palm,” which she co-wrote with Sara Apple. Fox described the feature as “‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ meets ‘Spring Breakers,'” citing the dark comedy aspect of the drama.
“It’s about these two girls and they are in L.A.,” Fox said. “They are classic. One is an aspiring actress, and the other is a nepotism baby — but her dad had like seven kids, so the pool has been diluted. They’re drug addicts, so they are in recovery, but they are always in and out. One has a sugar daddy. There is a dead body involved somewhere.”
While Fox penned the script, she is not directing “Lipstick Palm” but may helm a feature in the future.

There are plenty of cinematic attempts that fall short, but then there are movies directors hated as much as the critics. Not all movie directors have a perfect batting average, and even the best have some films in their catalog that they are not proud of. As seen with the Snyder Cut drama of Justice League, a lot of bad blood can boil up behind the scenes of a troubled production. In most cases, the directors feel that the movie was taken out of their hands. Sometimes, the studio has someone come in and re-edit a movie without the director there,...

1996 was, generally speaking, not a stellar year for film. The year's blockbusters were limp, containing Roland Emmerich's gloriously silly "Independence Day," Michael Bay's insufferable "The Rock," the undeniably thin "Twister," and the weirdly cold "Mission: Impossible." 1996 was also the year we had to squint and pretend that Cameron Crowe hadn't lost his mojo with "Jerry Maguire," as well as the year MTV convinced us that the terrible "Romeo + Juliet" was a good movie. On top of all that, 1996 saw the execrable "Space Jam" inflict its unholy existence upon the world.

But there were a few high points, too. Kenneth Branagh's "Hamlet" may be one of the best Shakespeare-to-film adaptations ever made, while Tim Burton's "Mars Attacks!" was a breath of fresh, zany air. Olivier Assayas' "Irma Vep" is a strange film experiment,...

Puss In Boots 2 was met with critical acclaim and an Oscar nomination, making its 12-year delay worth it. Fans first fell in love with the Spanish-speaking cat in Shrek 2 when he was hired to capture the titular ogre, but instead befriends him and his sidekick, Donkey. Due to his popularity, Puss appeared in the rest of the Shrek franchise and got his own spinoff film in 2011. Puss In Boots tells the orange cat's origin story, following him on an adventure with his friends Kitty and Humpty Dumpty to capture a goose that lays golden eggs. The film was a success, and its sequel was announced three years later.
The sequel, titled Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, brings Puss back to the big screen as he fights to stay alive after losing eight of his nine lives. Puss reunites with Kitty, who he is on bad terms with after...
