Trivia

  • In November 2002, he confessed to the murder of his accountant and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He confessed to the deed even though he was not guilty because he wanted to protect his cancer-stricken wife, who had instigated three accomplices to this act. He wanted to spare her a cancer death in prison. Once the actual perpetrators were convicted, he was released and again recanted his confession. He reached a retrial and was acquitted in January 2005. Because of his false testimony two alleged accomplices were innocent of three weeks in custody. Therefore, he was convicted in March of 2006, a probation and a fine.

  • Has two children: Dave Kaufmann (b. 1969) and Eva (b. 1970).
