Here's a pretty rote teaser trailer for Affliction: The Motion Picture... er, The Expendables 2, which puts Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham back at the forefront of an action extravaganza that also stars Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Liam Hemsworth, Bruce Willis, and [1] Arnold Schwarzenegger. Check it out below if you want to see all those faces for a second or two each. Simon West directs this time out, from a script written by Stallone, David Agosto, Ken Kaufman and Richard Wenk. Sylvester Stallone co-wrote and directed the first film, and it really didn't turn out to be a particularly good use of all the action names Stallone roped into the project. It is impossible to tell whether this sequel will do the trick, because this teaser trailer is just one long talent roster. But keep your hopes alive, I suppose. Apple [2] has the HD trailer.

Even when the first Expendables movie was coming together people were questioning why Chuck Norris wasn't involved. While Norris hasn't actually been in a movie since 2005, his career has been kept alive by the internet, with the "Chuck Norris Facts" meme becoming insanely popular and staying that way for years. Fortunately Sylvester Stallone has rectified his error from the first movie and has given a role to the action star in The Expendables 2. Now the first image of him has arrived online. Similar to the photo featuring Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis that popped up earlier this month, the photo is posed, but filled with just as much star power. In addition to Norris, the picture includes co-stars Dolph Lundgren and Terry Crews. Check it out below or full size over on Worst Previews. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sylvester Stallone confirmed the monstrous cast for The Expendables 2 and teased a few more recognizable names before shooting gets underway next month.
The macho sequel’s cast already boasts Stallone and returning stars Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, and Terry Crews. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis will expand their cameos in the original to more “substantial” parts in the ensemble (potentially on opposite sides of the battle). Stallone also confirmed rumors that they have added Jean-Claude Van Damme a.k.a. “The Muscles from Brussels” and Chuck Norris, a.k.a. “The Guy from All Those Old Internet Jokes.” There was no confirmation in EW’s report on Undisputed martial artist Scott Adkins.
“We’ll have a big showdown between me and Van Damme, which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one,” Stallone said.

There have been a lot of rumours about who's staying, who's leaving and who's joining the cast of The Expendables 2. Now according to Empire, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis have locked in deals and will have 'substantial roles' in the much discussed sequel. This is no doubt good news for fans of Arnie and Bruce, as they had little screen time in the first film and it sounds like they will be given a lot more opportunities to blow things up this time round. Directed by Simon West (Con Air, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider) with a screenplay by David Agosto (Big Canyon) and Ken Kaufman (Space Cowboy, The Missing), The Expendables is due to start shooting in October. Nobody’s saying just yet, but given that they showed up for a scant couple of minutes in the first movie, anything more than the length of your average ad break would probably be considered more “substantial.”This time around, Simon West will be in the director’s chair, working from a script by David Agosto and Ken Kaufman (with input from Sly Stallone of course) and wrangling the returning likes of Sly himself, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke,...

Deadline is reporting The Expendables 2 will pack a slightly larger action star-powered punch this time around as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis won't be resigned to a tiny cameo that lasts about two minutes, but instead "substantial" roles in the sequel.
Deadline's Mike Fleming calls the coming together of Sylvester Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Willis as an "Action Dream Trio." I'm not so sure the dream on that trio is still alive, but it should definitely sell tickets and I'm interested in seeing what they are able to put together.
This time around Stallone will not direct as he did the 2010 original which went on to gross over $275 million worldwide. Simon West (Con Air) will instead take the helm on the film which will begin filming in October for an already slated August 17, 2012. Previous cast members Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews and Jet Li are also expected to return.

The internet has been buzzing with casting rumours for The Expendables 2 for quite a while now, but despite the fact that the movie is aiming for an August 2012 release, we still have yet to hear any sort of official announcement on the matter. The film's producers have reportedly been pursuing just about every action star imaginable, with names like Jean-Claude Van Damme, John Travolta, Chuck Norris, Donnie Yen, Taylor Lautner, Christian Slater, Christopher Lambert, and even Nicolas Cage all mentioned as possibilities. Well, this week we may have confirmation on at least two of those names: according to the Millennium Films project listing, both Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris are now officially part of the cast. British action star Scott Adkins (Undisputed II and III) is also on the list, and what's more, we also have our first glimpse at a plot synopsis for the sequel. Read on for more details.

Sadly the most exciting aspect of The Expendables franchise, well at least we can say it was with the first movie anyway, is the casting process. We ate up every minute of Sylvester Stallone’s original recruitment for his homage to 80′s Canon Home video fare but alas the movie we had in our heads for what a Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Eric Roberts, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bruce Willis film might look like, well he couldn’t match it. Maybe it was just something he would never be able to live-up too.
With a new director in place for The Expendables 2 in the form of Con Air and The Mechanic hack Simon West, a hiring that considerably lowers our expectation levels for the sequel (not that they were high in the first place), we would expect this new round of...

Announced earlier this week, the follow up to Sly Stallone's action epic, The Expendables, has nabbed a director. Simon West, director of Con Air, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and The Mechanic, will be directing the sequel which will presumably carry the same cast as the first. Stallone won't be writing the sequel, instead Lionsgate have hired David Agosto and Ken Kaufman, whose previous credits include Space Cowboys. Are you excited for The Expendables 2? While the original was fairly hit or miss, I really think with the right script and right energy, it could be pretty kick-ass. ...

Lionsgate has hired Simon West to direct The Expendables 2, the sequel to Sylvester Stallone’s action hero ensemble movie that grossed $274.5 million worldwide last year. The second is already set for August 17, 2012.
64-year-old Stallone, who directed, co-wrote, produced, and starred in the original, announced his decision in March to limit his involvement for the sequel while he focuses on other projects (e.g. Walter Hill’s Headshot). Sly will still produce and star in the movie, but writing duties have been passed to David Agosto and Ken Kaufman (Space Cowboys) and now the director’s chair to West.
Aside from Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews and Jet Li are expected to return, as is Bruce Willis in an expanded role (a villain?), according to Deadline. Arnold Schwarzenegger was widely considered to wind up a part of the cast after his return to acting, but his illegitimate child...

Lionsgate has finally found a director for its upcoming The Expendables 2 in Simon West (Con Air), Deadline reports. West recently directed the remake of The Mechanic with Expendables star Jason Statham.
Sylvester Stallone co-wrote and directed the action star-filled, first Expendables, which was released last year and grossed $274 million worldwide. Stallone opted against directing the sequel and instead worked on the script with screenwriters Ken Kaufman (Space Cowboys) and David Agosto. What the sequel is about is unknown. A plot synopsis was released in May via the sequel's production company — which had the Expendables avenging the death of an old friend — but Stallone refuted the synopsis, announcing that the "real storyline will be forthcoming."
Those details could come to light soon now that West has been hired. Lionsgate has already set an August 17, 2012 release date for Expendables 2, and production is set to start this summer, meaning that plot details can't be far behind.

Well, guess what, it looks that Sylvester Stallone will not be the director of The Expendables 2 after all. So relax!
We’ve just learned that Simon West will have an honor to direct the whole thing.
I’m sure you’ll all agree that he’s not a bad choice at all, especially when it comes to action genre. I mean, he’s the man behind titles like Con Air, The Mechanic and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
As you probably already know, the sequel is expected to have back an original cast that includes Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews, Jet Li and possibly Bruce Willis.
Unfortunately, at this moment still no words on The Expendables 2 possible plot. Actually, we posted synopsis released by NuImage but Stallone says that it’s wrong, and that a real, updated storyline will soon be released.

The hiring of Simon West to direct The Expendables 2 makes a lot of sense, I suppose. He’s an undeniable hack director, whose films like Con Air and The Mechanic make a lot of noise, are incredibly stupid, cynical, throw way too many dollars on mindless explosions and apart from a knowing B-movie energy, there’s few things to really recommend about them.
Which is pretty much how we summed up the 2010 disappointment – The Expendables, so fitting he will helm the sequel.
Deadline say Stallone has chosen West to direct, with filming to shoot this summer – though I’m can’t help but feel that will be pushed back with Stallone and director Walter Hill (who should have made the Expendables 2 really) readying on a new actioner which films later this month.
With an astonishing and legendary cast, we had expected The Expendables to be one of 2010′s most...

Briefly: I know there are people who really like the films of Simon West (Con Air, Tomb Raider, The Mechanic) and I expect that audience will be thrilled that he is directing the sequel to The Expendables. Will he do a better job than Sylvester Stallone did with the original? Hard to say; two out of Sly's last three films have been either genuinely good (Rocky Balboa) or a lot of fun (Rambo) so he's probably got another good one in him. But The Expendables, a purely by the numbers exercise, sure wasn't it. So let Simon West have a crack at the sequel that will reunite Sly, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews and possibly Bruce Willis, with new participants very likely. (There will probably [1] be a new female lead, playing the daughter of Mickey Rourke's character.) David Agosto and Ken Kaufman are writing this one,...

Director Simon West may not have the greatest track record in the world, but he did make one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies ever: Con Air. Stacked with an awesome ensemble cast, the movie is absolutely ridiculous but it's also made of pure energy and fun. Whenever I turn on the TV and Con Air is playing, I can't help but sit my ass on the sofa for two hours and marvel at it. Because of that, I'm quite excited by this news. Deadline is reporting that Simon West has officially been tapped to direct The Expendables 2. While star Sylvester Stallone wrote and directed the first one, it was reported back in March that a hunt was on for a new director and that David Agosto and Ken Kaufman had been hired to take care of the script. The filmmaker released the remake of The Mechanic, which featured...

Simon West has been signed on to helm the upcoming action movie sequel which is set for a Summer 2012 release. Simon West will helm the next Expendables film; taking over for Sylvester Stallone who directed the first film. West previously directed CBS Films remake of The Mechanic with Jason Statham and Ben Foster. He also directed action films Con Air and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, as well as The General's Daughter. Planning for Expendables 2 began before the first film even arrived in theaters. While plot details remain a mystery for fans, the studio is nonetheless hard at work preparing the next film in what Stallone hopes to be a trilogy. Writing team David Agosto and Ken Kaufman have recently completed a draft for the sequel script, and Stallone has stated he would like to see Arnold...

Whilst Cannes is seen as a one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, it’s also home to one of the biggest film markets where film after film is bought, sold and teased – and that’s the part of Cannes that holds My interest! One of the films that was announced at Cannes was The Expendables 2, the eagerly awaited sequel to Nu Image / Millennium Films and Lionsgate’s action-packed monster success of 2010…
Plenty of sites have already run the teaser poster (above) that was on display at Cannes, but now – thanks to the folks at Gordon and the Whale – we also have the official synopsis for the movie which sees Stallone, Statham, Rourke, Lundgren, Couture and Crews returning for the film which, this time, doesn’t come from the pen of Sly Stallone, but rather scribes David Agosto and Ken Kaufman.

I can't help to be a little excited to to a sequel to Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables. As terrible as the the script was for the first film I still had a lot of fun watching all these action stars kicking ass and blowing shit up.

Lionsgate set a August 17, 2012, release date for The Expendables 2 last month, despite the sequel lacking a director, and with Sylvester Stallone still working on a script with screenwriters Ken Kaufman (Space Cowboys) and David Agosto. Progress has been made, however, as a early teaser poster was discovered at the Canned Film Festival by First Showing.
The report offered no details on the sequel, however, production company Nu Image already has a plot synopsis (via ComingSoon) for Expendables 2. [Update: Stallone has contacted fansite StalloneZone to say that the following synopsis is not correct and that the "real storyline will be forthcoming" despite this coming from the production company's website.]
The Expendables are back and this time it's personal! After Tool (Mickey Rourke), the heart and soul of the Expendables, is brutally murdered on a mission, his comrades swear to avenge him. They're not the only ones who want blood. Tool’s beautiful young and wild daughter Fiona embarks on her own revenge mission, complicating matters when she is captured and ransomed by a ruthless dictator plotting to destroy a resistance movement.

Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables 2 is currently in development, but it won't be released until August 17, 2012. Nu Image / Millennium Films and Lionsgate are producing the film and they have unleashed this little promo poster for the film up at The Cannes Film Festival.
Stallone will not write or direct this sequel but he will be back to reprise his role as Barney. The screenplay is being written by David Agosto and Ken Kaufman, a director for the film has yet to be announced. Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Terry Crews and Randy Couture will all most likely return for the sequel, with the addition of Jean Claude Van Damme as the possible villain.
As silly as it was I enjoyed watching the first film, and was entertained. The script was very weak, but since Stallone isn't writting it this time around maybe that will be a little better.

Scheduled for theatrical release on August 17th, 2012, action-packed sequel to The Expendables will star Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Jean Claude Van Damme, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Terry Crews and Randy Couture. The 2010 action-adventure movie The Expendables, written by David Callaham and Sylvester Stallone (who also directed), followed a team of mercenaries who head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator. It garnered over $270 million at the box office. Stallone will not be returning to direct the sequel, but he will reprise his role in the film. Screenwriters David Agosto and Ken Kaufman are developing the script based on story ideas from Stallone. NuImage.net has posted this synopsis for the film; though there is no confirmation of it'...

While there were some recent reports that Sylvester Stallone would be helming the sequel to the balls-two-wall action flick The Exependables, it looks like the actor/director will not return to the director's chair after all. The good news? Stallone is currently putting together a list of directors who he'd like to see helm the highly anticipated sequel. In March, a story surfaced that Stallone would not be directing The Expendables 2, however, earlier this month a report claimed that he actually would be back to helm the picture. The thought was that since his new project Headshot had lost director Wayne Kramer, the project would be put on hold freeing up Stallone to direct The Expendables 2. Now, however, the news is that Walter Hill is now attached to direct Headshot and the project is once again moving forward with Sylvester Stallone and Thomas Jane attached to star. The...

I'm going to lead things off with big news from the Bourne universe. We've reported on the supposed "shortlist" of actors being considered to replace Matt Damon in The Bourne Legacy, and Latino Review exclusively revealed that the offer is about to go out to Jeremy Renner (who wasn't even on the the list). This would be just one more notch in the belt of Jeremy Renner, who has secured his current "that guy" status. Already with roles in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, The Avengers and Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (set pics of that one here), we'll be seeing plenty of Renner over the next couple of years. I do think Renner is a good choice, but can he really be considered the "future" of two huge spy franchises at the same time?
It should be noted that shortlist contender Oscar Isaac (Robin Hood, Sucker Punch) was writer/director Tony Gilroy's first choice,...

At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Lionsgate announced the release date for The Expendables 2, the inevitable follow-up to Sylvester Stallone’s brawny, aged ensemble actioner.
According to ComingSoon, the sequel will hit theaters on August 17, 2012 nearly two years to the date since the original in 2010. The movie made $274.5 million worldwide on a budget of $80 million.
As the outlet points out, Stallone and friends have the end of August all to themselves a week after Paramount puts out another G.I. Joe adventure. A nostalgia-packed month, to be sure, since Sony’s Total Recall reboot hits the first weekend of the month, along with a fourth Bourne installment.
Stallone announced in March he was not writing or directing Expendables 2 as script duties went to relative newcomer David Agosto and Ken Kaufman, who co-wrote Space Cowboys.

The Expendables 2 may not have a director or a confirmed cast, but it does have a release date.
ComingSoon reports that Lionsgate has given the sequel to last year's $274 million hit a August 17, 2012, release date, obviously confident that Sylvester Stallone will deliver again. The actor co-wrote and directed The Expendables, but a report revealed last month that Stallone was developing with screenwriters Ken Kaufman (Space Cowboys) and David Agosto, while meeting with directors.
Last August, Stallone hinted that his idea for The Expendables 2 was "quite radical" and that he wanted Bruce Willis to play a "supervillain," an idea that Willis is apparently not against since he admitted in July that he would love to be a part" of the sequel. Jason Statham has also admitted that he would like to return.
With the release date set, the sequel has a year and a half to figure everything out.
