The future of The Studio on Apple TV+ has been revealed. It's now been revealed that the series will be continuing for a second season.

On Tuesday, it was announced by Apple TV+ that The Studio has officially been renewed for Season 2. The news comes about two weeks ahead of the show's freshman season finale, which is scheduled to drop on May 21. It also comes ahead of the premiere of the show's eighth episode on Wednesday, which will see Zoe Kravitz appearing with Seth Rogen's Matt Remick trying to talk her into thanking him during her award acceptance speech. The renewal for Season 2 of “The Studio” arrives just before the airing of Episode 8 this Wednesday evening on Apple TV+, and the first season has two more episodes after that. This week will see Rogen’s studio head Matt Remick try to get Zoë Kravitz to thank him in her Golden Globes awards acceptance speech.

“We’re thrilled to be making a second season of ‘The Studio.’ We’re looking forward to taking the lived experience of making Season 1 and immediately putting it into Season 2, then repeating that loop for ten more seasons,” said creators and executive producers Rogen and Goldberg.

Deadline reports Sam McCarthy (Dead to Me and Goosebumps: The Vanishing) will lead The Marshmallow Experiment as a sexually-frustrated teenager who unplugs from the internet after a disastrous sexual encounter with his dream girl. The teen is then guided on a journey of self-discovery by a talking gorilla, all while avoiding his influencer parents and rogue AI avatars.

Rumors began to swirl that the Tenacious D musician was attached to the movie after frontman Rivers Cuomo, shared an AI-generated film poster on band’s Discord server. The poster features photos of Cuomo and Black, as well as the band, and reads: “Weezer costarring Jack Black.” Cuomo added in a caption, “Nope, it’s real.”

The Studio has revealed its full guest cast for the Hollywood sendup series co-created by Seth Rogen.

Rogen — also the lead actor, writer, director and executive producer on the Apple series about moviemaking — has taken to his director’s chair to announce the many guest stars in the comedy, which had promised A-list cameos in every episode. In The Studio, Rogen stars as Matt Remick, a newly appointed (fictional) head of the embattled Continental Studios who finds himself forever fighting and debating with his fellow creatives and demanding actors over whether art and commerce can coexist in Hollywood.

Magnolia Pictures has acquired North American rights to “Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted,” a documentary about singer, songwriter and record producer Jerry Williams, aka Swamp Dogg, following the film’s world premiere at SXSW. Last fall, we got HBO’s The Franchise, a pessimistic look inside a contemporary fictional superhero property. And on March 26th, AppleTV+ will premiere The Studio, about a contemporary fictional film company. Though you might expect there to be a lot of crossover between the projects, the two are about as different as two prestige-y sitcoms set backstage in the movie business and released within six months of each other can actually be. And while The Studio is definitely taking a lot of big swings that a certain kind of viewer will like (I really did!), this is still a world in which The Franchise was canceled weeks after its season ended: The Studio’s swings might be too big.
