The well-known ice cream brand, which has long posted up for high-profile activations during the festival, once again took over Palais Stephanie. This year, Magnum dedicated Thursday to a day of “unapologetic indulgence” as a way to celebrate the brand’s offerings and inspire “a new generation of pleasure seekers to ‘own the moment’ their way,” per official intel.

Brad Pitt was once kidnapped in public, and the police did not do anything despite getting several calls from concerned citizens. It happened in 2002 when he was simply lining up to buy at Pink’s Hot Dogs in Los Angeles. Everything went by so fast that the actor didn’t have time to run.
He was violently carried off and thrown inside a van. Some bystanders went to call the police while one guy tried to approach the vehicle to save Pitt. It was truly an intense encounter straight out of a movie scene, and that’s clearly what it was—a scripted skit.

It was the early 2000s, and prank shows were one of the most popular types of entertainment. What happened to Brad Pitt would be extremely controversial by today’s standards, but during those times, it was simply for fun.

Created by Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez, The Studio is set in Hollywood and revolves around a hapless film producer named Matt Remick, who becomes the newly appointed head of a major studio. Now Matt must make hard decisions and hurt some people’s feelings to secure the bottom line, but that doesn’t exactly fit with his flimsy personality.

Who’s ready for a sequel to the “Kool-Aid” movie? “The Studio,” Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s hit satire that has captured Hollywood’s attention for its scarily on-the-nose depiction of the film industry, has been renewed for a second season by Apple TV+, the streamer announced Tuesday.
The renewal for Season 2 of “The Studio” arrives just before the airing of Episode 8 this Wednesday evening on Apple TV+, and the first season has two more episodes after that. Gal Gadot and Matthias Schoenaerts are to star in Ruin, a stark thriller set in the aftermath of the Second World War.
Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot uniting with the director of Disney’s live-action Mulan, working from a script by the writers of Marvel’s Eternals. It might sound as though we’re in for something glossy and multiplex ready, but the forthcoming Ruin will almost certainly be the complete opposite.
Written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo and first appearing on the 2017 Blacklist of unproduced screenplays, Ruin is set in the aftermath of Word War II. Germany, like large sections of Europe, lies in tatters. Against a backdrop of shattered buildings, hunger and unrest, a former Nazi soldier embarks on a mission to wipe out his own SS death squad team. He’s joined by an unlikely ally: a Jewish concentration camp survivor named Elsa.

Unfortunately for pretty much everyone, Jack Black is not joining the cast of the upcoming Weezer movie.
Rumors began to swirl that the Tenacious D musician was attached to the movie after frontman Rivers Cuomo, shared an AI-generated film poster on band’s Discord server. The poster features photos of Cuomo and Black, as well as the band, and reads: “Weezer costarring Jack Black.” Cuomo added in a caption, “Nope, it’s real.”

Update: It appears Rivers Cuomo was trolling, as a representative says Jack Black has not been cast in the Weezer movie.
Weezer revealed that they’re making a new “mockumentary”-style movie about their band while playing Coachella this month, and now, frontman Rivers Cuomo has seemingly confirmed that Jack Black will star in the film.
According to a screenshot from Weezer’s Discord (via Reddit), Cuomo shared the news with an AI-generated film poster depicting Cuomo and Black together and featuring the full band underneath them: “Weezer, costarring Jack Black” it reads. Cuomo captioned the post itself “nope, it’s real,” assumedly confirming that Black will appear in the film. The connection between Black and the group goes back decades, as Weezer and Black’s band Tenacious D toured together in 2001, and Black’s wife Tanya Haden played cello on Weezer’s 2003 cover of Green Day’s “Worry Rock.

Back in February 2025, when The Studio released its trailer for the Super Bowl, the audience was bewildered and amused at the scene that features Josh Hutcherson and Johnny Knoxville dealing with explosive diarrhea and zombies!
The hilarious clip was used as a teaser for the movie ‘Duhpocalypse’, a fictional movie within the show, and it immediately caught the eye of the audience, for being bold and satirical in its approach. In Episode 6, the movie is revisited but in a way of more subtle commentary on the amalgamation of art, trade, and deep-rooted societal issues.

While playing at Coachella last weekend, frontman Rivers Cuomo let it slip that the band was working on a “Weezer movie back in L.A.” While he stopped short of divulging any other details, according to a report from film insider Jeff Sneider, the project is “mockumentary” described as a cross between Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. And none other than Keanu Reeves has reportedly been cast to play the villain in the film.
Reeves and Weezer actually go way back: the band’s first-ever public gig was opening for Reeves’ own group, Dogstar, in 1992. In 2024, the two bands reunited — this time with Dogstar opening for Weezer as they celebrated the 30th anniversary of The Blue Album. Apparently, Weezer and Reeves’ three-decade “rivalry” is a key part of the film’s plot.

The White Lotus finished season three on a grisly note on Sunday, but we all hope to check back in for a new season soon — no one more so than HBO executives. But first, creator and showrunner Mike White could probably use a vacation of his own. It’s unclear if he’d choose a (surely) comped Four Seasons stay or stay far away from the luxury hotel chain he’s called both “home” and “set” for the past few years.
Though scouting for a season four location has not even begun, that’s not stopping us from doing a little bit of our own research, reporting — and yes, our own guessing — on where the next five-star murder will be staged. We didn’t get much help from those involved in the show or the location partnership, but there are some bread crumbs that helped inform our predictions, like:

The pace is picking up with studio wide release A Minecraft Movie booming and plenty of indie fare to fill out behind from Neon’s Hell of a Summer and IFC Films’ The Luckiest Man in America to Fathom’s next installment of The Chosen and expansions of The Friend from Bleecker Street and Gkids’ re-release of Princess Mononoke.
CinemaCon, the biggest annual gathering of theater owners and studios, wrapped last night in Las Vegas. Exhibitors’ tempers were strained by a sour first quarter at the box office and there was an explosion of talk around longer theatrical windows which will for sure remain an ongoing conversation. That said, Q1 is behind us so here’s to hoping for a sustained period of more movies — many highlighted in Vegas — and higher-grossing movies to lift all boats.

There have been countless scandals involving game shows over the years. The most famous adaptation of such an event was Robert Redford’s acclaimed Quiz Show, starring Ralph Fiennes and John Turturro. Still, there have been more recent instances, including a bizarre one in 1984 involving a man who figured out how to beat one of the most popular game shows on American television, Press Your Luck. The Luckiest Man in America dramatizes that event with a fantastic cast led by Paul Walter Hauser.
The film tells the story of ice cream truck driver Michael Larson (Paul Walter Hauser), an unemployed ice cream truck driver from Ohio who cons his way onto Press Your Luck. As he begins to win record-breaking prizes, those behind the scenes figure out he may be doing more than just playing the game. As the truth becomes apparent, Michael’s true motivations become evident, revealing a...

Plot: Based on a true story, the film is set in May 1984, when an unemployed ice cream truck driver from Ohio steps onto the game show Press Your Luck, harboring a big secret: the key to endless amounts of money. His winning streak is threatened when the bewildered executives in the control room start to uncover his real motivations.
Review: As someone who has been trying to get on Jeopardy! for a while, I have always been fascinated with the contestants’ backstories who have made their way onto shows watched by millions. While few controversies have compared to the one chronicled in Robert Redford’s Quiz Show, the circumstances surrounding Michael Larson’s then-record-breaking appearance on Press Your Luck is a bizarre chapter in pop culture history. The Luckiest Man in America dramatizes the events of Larson’s run on the popular game show with the great Paul Walter Hauser in another fantastic performance.
Review: As someone who has been trying to get on Jeopardy! for a while, I have always been fascinated with the contestants’ backstories who have made their way onto shows watched by millions. Slumdog Millionaire. Quiz Show. There have been some great films made that center around some of the most stranger-than-fiction stories involving game show contestants. Thanks to a phenomenal cast and strong, tense filmmaking, The Luckiest Man in America manages to be an entertaining thriller despite its lack of depth.
The Luckiest Man in America Review
The Luckiest Man in America tells the story of Michael Larson, a man who set a record to become the then-winningest contestant in game show history by memorizing the patterns of the Press Your Luck “Big Board.” Samir Oliveros and Maggie Briggs’s script takes this story that has been told several times in documentary format before and makes a tense, near-real-time thriller out of it — creating an effective, if somewhat shallow genre exercise.
The most effective thing about The Luckiest Man in America is its nuanced approach to its protagonist. Larson is a unique individual,...

Hollywood is a strange place right now. Studios seem to want the best of both worlds as they push director-driven films while still finding ways to make a profit. The newest Apple TV+ show, The Studio, tackles these ideas with comedic insight. Seth Rogen leads the show as the new studio executive of the fictional continental studios, and the series finds him talking to actors and directors, while finding new and creative voices, though he still tries to make his studio profitable.
The Studio starts at the end of March. It's certainly worth marking on your calendar, as the series is already certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with 97%. Apple TV+’s The Studio aims to give audiences a peek behind the Hollywood curtain. Funnily enough, it was reported years ago that Seth Rogen had pitched an idea at HBO that pre-dated Entourage, but would be very similar in navigating the glamour of showbiz and would also intend to show some inside baseball on the film industry in Hollywood. Rogen gets to do it in a different fashion with his new TV series and, just like Entourage, there are cameos aplenty by a large number of people playing a version of themselves.
The Hollywood Reporter has just revealed the extensive list of who will be appearing in The Studio. If you’d rather be surprised by who shows up, you can probably consider these spoilers.

Magnolia Pictures has acquired North American rights to “Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted,” a documentary about singer, songwriter and record producer Jerry Williams, aka Swamp Dogg, following the film’s world premiere at SXSW. The movie, which examines one of the major cult figures of 20th-century American music, was directed by Isaac Gale and Ryan Olson. It will be released in theaters on May 2.
Swamp Dogg’s voice and ideas had a profound influence on soul music, country, hip-hop and a dozen other genres. The film follows Swamp Dogg and his “bachelor pad of aging musicians”, a group that includes the disarming Guitar Shorty and the quirky Moogstar, as they navigate the music industry, transform their home into an artistic playground and invite fellow musicians like Jenny Lewis and John Prine and superfans Mike Judge, Johnny Knoxville and Tom Kenny to play in their unique musical sandbox. The group,...

Extortion. Careers unceremoniously ended. Organizations led by sociopathic megalomaniacs. It’s kind of shocking how much TV crime dramas have in common with TV sitcoms about the film industry. Last fall, we got HBO’s The Franchise, a pessimistic look inside a contemporary fictional superhero property. And on March 26th, AppleTV+ will premiere The Studio, about a contemporary fictional film company. Though you might expect there to be a lot of crossover between the projects, the two are about as different as two prestige-y sitcoms set backstage in the movie business and released within six months of each other can actually be. And while The Studio is definitely taking a lot of big swings that a certain kind of viewer will like (I really did!), this is still a world in which The Franchise was canceled weeks after its season ended: The Studio’s swings might be too big.

Tony Etz, a 30-year veteran of the Creative Artists Agency, passed away yesterday, March 10, in Los Angeles, after a long battle with Chordoma, a rare type of cancer. He was 64.
Agenting was a second career for Illinois native Etz, an English major from Knox College with a Mfa from University of Iowa’s Writers’ Workshop who was a contributor on the 1989 book Off-Hollywood Movies: A Film Lover’s Guide. He started in the made-for-television movie business, co-executive producing/executive producing two miniseries and five telefilms, including NBC’s successful Jack Reed MOWs, in the early 1990s before joining CAA in 1994 as an agent in the Television department.
During his three decades at the agency, Etz established himself as a top TV lit agent and served in various leadership roles, including co-head of packaging. Even as his health was deteriorating over the past couple of years, he continued to work and...

Renowned filmmaker Martin Scorsese wasn't in attendance despite having a cameo on the show, but Rogen did share some insight into what it was like to work with him.

Just when it seemed like Seth Rogen couldn't do better, early word of mouth about his upcoming AppleTV+ series The Studio makes it his best-reviewed project on Rotten Tomatoes. Rogen has been involved in some highly acclaimed film and television series projects as a writer, producer, and actor. Apple TV+ has dropped a star-studded new trailer for its upcoming satirical comedy series The Studio, which sees Seth Rogen lift the lid on Hollywood's "meat grinder" surrounded by Tinseltown's top talent, including, but not limited to, Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Olivia Wilde, Adam Scott, and even Martin Scorsese. After all, "this is cinema," but perhaps not in the way we're used to seeing it, as the ten-episode series taps into the inner workings of the movie industry, promising lights, cameras, and plenty of action.
According to the show's official synopsis, Rogen plays Matt Remick, "the newly appointed head of embattled Continental Studios," who finds himself wrangling with "narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords" in the pursuit of making a good movie... that will be good forever (and we're hedging our bets that it's not going to be Duhpocalyspe). Seth Rogen has revealed the uniquely chaotic approach to his new satirical Apple TV+ series, The Studio. Speaking recently with Esquire, Rogen revealed that every scene in the show will be filmed as one, long tracking shot, enabling audiences to fully immerse themselves in the "manic energy" of studio filmmaking.

We wanted the show to have an immersive, manic energy to it. Because that’s our experience, being in these rooms with people yelling at each other. We wanted to throw you into it and create this sort of unpredictable, uneasy energy.”

The actor, best known for his roles in the Twilight franchise and The Batman, confessed to Variety that one of the many accents he does in Mickey 17 may have accidentally been inspired by a Fargo character.

Yes, this is what we've been waiting for. Comedy legend Seth Rogen is coming to save streaming audiences with a fresh new comedy. Rogen is breaking new ground with his upcoming Apple TV+ series The Studio, in which he plays a beleaguered Hollywood producer. The new trailer for the meta comedy series about the pitfalls of the film industry introduces us to one of Rogen's many projects: Duhpocalyspe, an absolutely bonkers zombie movie starring Jackass daredevil Johnny Knoxville and Five Nights at Freddy's star Josh Hutcherson.
The premise of Duhpocalypse is that there's a zombie outbreak, only this one spreads through explosive diarrhea – as depicted in a majorly graphic moment (see below). If the title wasn't funny enough, seeing Hutcherson covered in bloody Zombie diarrhea will definitely either make you laugh, or get sick to your stomach. The hilariously gross fake movie adds so much to the already overt satirization...

No movie theaters want to run the trailer for Johnny Knoxville and Josh Hutcherson’s dark satire, Duhpocalypse. Their reluctance could have something to do with the undead opponents they battle in the clip when they encounter zombies with explosive diarrhea. That’s where Seth Rogen comes in, and the trailer inception begins: Duhpocalypse is the latest fake film being pushed by the fake movie studio at the center of The Studio, Rogen’s forthcoming Apple TV+ series premiering March 26.

In a surprising move during the Super Bowl broadcast, Seth Rogen introduced a new trailer for his upcoming Apple TV+ comedy series, The Studio. Set to premiere on March 26, the show focuses on a fictional movie studio led by Rogen’s character, Matt Remick, as he contends with creative pressures and corporate demands.
The trailer, titled Duhpocalypse, includes a notably provocative scene featuring a zombie and a graphic moment of flatulence. In a boardroom discussion, Remick declares, “No, it’s true, but I definitely want that diarrhea explosion in the trailer,” while his colleagues debate whether to keep the scene.
Presented as a movie within the series, the faux trailer stars Josh Hutcherson and Johnny Knoxville. In the clip, Hutcherson’s character faces off against a zombie amid frantic news updates. Knoxville’s remarks and Hutcherson’s alarm lend an unexpected twist to the depiction of a typical zombie thriller.
