Scarlett Johansson Jokes About ‘Avengers’ Box Office In Please Don’t Destroy Newark Airport Skit With Bad Bunny
Image
In the final Please Don’t Destroy video for the season, the depressed trio were treated to a little vacation complete with first-class airline tickets courtesy of the finale’s host Scarlett Johansson. Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy were enjoying the perks of first class alongside glam track suit-wearing Johansson — breaking into a song and dance — until she mentioned that they would be landing at Newark, the New Jersey airport whose recent air traffic control woes have been making national headlines.

The guys’ concerns were soon validated as the pilots of their plane couldn’t make contact with Newark and their navigation screens went black. In the shaking first-class cabin, emergency signs came on, with playing hands flashing next to the “no smoking” light.

“Looks like this is it guys. Anything to get off your chest?,” Herlihy yelled.

“This might sound corny but the only thing I regret is...

‘SNL’: Mike Myers Returns For Kanye West Sketch
Image
Saturday Night Live alum Mike Myers made his fourth guest appearance on NBC’s late-night sketch comedy series this season in the finale hosted by Scarlett Johansson. After previously impersonating Elon Musk, Myers played himself this time in an elevator sketch.

First, he encounters two big fans, played by Johansson and SNL‘s Marcello Hernandez. Things turn awkward when Myers and Johansson’s Janet are joined by Kanye West, played by SNL veteran Kenan Thompson, who boards the elevator.

Janet quickly gets off, leaving Myers and West stuck on a long, uncomfortable ride, in which Thompson’s West references some of the many older and more recent controversies he has gotten involved in, from his comments that President George W. Bush does not care about Black people during a 2005 fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Katrina, to his KKK-inspired hooded outfit [“I’m in the KKK now,” Thompson’s West said], his antisemitic remarks to his shocking claims about a sexual relationship with his cousin.

‘SNL’ Weekend Update: Michael Che Apologizes to Scarlett Johansson for That One Joke
Image
Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update had their traditional joke swap in the season 50 season finale, with co-anchor Michael Che making amends with SNL host Scarlett Johansson for delivering a certain line about her during last December’s joke swap.

“I want to take this opportunity to apologize to someone I hurt. Scarlett, can you come out here?” Che said midway through the joke swap, meaning his words were Colin Jost’s.

After explaining the context– “I made Colin do some tasteless jokes comparing your vagina to Costco roast beef...

SNL Finale: Scarlett Johansson Gets Cut Off During Goodnights — Watch Them in Full Here
Image
Saturday Night Live’s milestone 50th season came to a rather abrupt end.

At the conclusion of Saturday’s SNL season finale, Scarlett Johansson and the cast came out for the traditional “goodnights,” where the host says their thanks ahead of the closing credits. This week, Johansson got a bouquet of roses and a kiss from her SNL husband Colin Jost — awww! — and sported a Wayne’s World T-shirt as she thanked musical guest Bad Bunny and guest star Mike Myers.

Weekend Update Joke Swap Sees Michael Che Atone For Scarlett Johansson Joke As Colin Jost Comes For Lorne Michaels’ Throne: “Retire B*tch”
Image
Co-anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che were in for a treat tonight with Saturday Night Live Season 50’s final joke swap, which saw the latter atone for his midseason finale joke at the expense of host Scarlett Johansson and the former coming for creator/executive producer Lorne Michaels’ throne.

The long-held Weekend Update tradition kicked off with a bang, as Che’s first (previously unseen) quip for Jost included a jab at Michaels: “But before we start, it’s SNL‘s 50th season, so I want to take a moment to say something to our boss, Lorne Michaels. Lorne, retire bitch! Let me run the show.”

Per tradition, a majority of Jost’s jokes penned by Che get him to say exceedingly racist things, while Che’s prewritten material paints him as a misogynist and/or pervert.

Jost kicked things off with more jabs at CBS’ Beyond the Gates, the first all-Black daytime soap opera,...

SNL Video: Scarlett Johansson Gets an On-Air Apology From Michael Che for Obscene Jokes
Image
Scarlett Johansson was owed an apology — and she got one.

Johansson, who hosted this week’s Saturday Night Live season finale, dropped by Weekend Update to confront Michael Che about the hilariously obscene jokes he wrote about her for her husband Colin Jost to deliver. (For a reminder, click here.) Well, Jost and Che engaged in another “joke swap” this week, where they write each other jokes to read live on air, sight unseen. And in between jokes, Johansson took a seat beside Che so he could read her a Jost-penned apology to her face.

Michael Che Apologizes to Scarlett Johansson for Infamous Roast Beef Joke: “I Was Jealous”
Image
Michael Che brought Scarlett Johansson out during “Weekend Update” to jokingly apologize for his infamous roast beef joke during the final episode of Saturday Night Live‘s 50th season.

“Before I tell another joke, I wanna take this opportunity to apologize to someone I hurt, Scarlett, can you come out here?” Che said at the top of the bit, with a humorous tone, which took place during yet another joke-swap with his “Weekend Update” co-host and Johansson’s husband Colin Jost. “Y’know, last time we did joke-swap, I made Colin do some tasteless jokes comparing your vagina to Costco roast beef.”

The joke in question saw Johansson’s husband warn of Costco removing “the roast beef sandwich from its menu” during a “Weekend Update” segment last December. “But I ain’t trippin’, I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid,” Jost said in...

Michael Che Gives Humiliating Apology to Scarlett Johansson for Lewd ‘SNL’ Jokes: ‘I Was Just Lashing Out Because I’m Jealous … I’ve Never Seen a Human Vagina’
Image
Scarlett Johansson is finally firing back at Michael Che for all those “Weekend Update” jokes. Johansson hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the seventh time this weekend with musical guest Bad Bunny.

Che, who co-anchors the recurring “Weekend Update” segment of “Saturday Night Live,” writes gags for Colin Jost (Johansson’s husband) to read during “joke swaps” each season — and sometimes they’re at her expense.

“Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from its menu,” Jost said in a “Weekend Update” bit during a December SNL episode. “But I ain’t trippin’. I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid.”

Che and Jost opened the season finale “Weekend Update” segment by acknowledging the long-standing tradition of swapping jokes, and calling Johansson out to join them at the “Update” desk so Che could formally apologize for “comparing your vagina to Costco roast beef.”

‘SNL’: Scarlett Johansson Puts a Real Dark Spin On Newscasters’ Tame Puns
Image
Saturday Night Live seven-time host Scarlett Johansson portrayed a newscaster bringing an edgy approach to how she presented stories of the day–much to her pun-loving colleagues’ disapproval.

Whereas those behind the morning anchors desk at Channel 4 New York deployed tame wordplay about lighthearted stories, fill-in nightly news host Denise (Johansson) applied the same technique to reports about gruesome crimes.

Co-host Tommy (Kenan Thompson) began with a story about astroturf being installed at a dog park, calling it a “doggone miracle.”

Susan (Ashley Padilla) followed that up with: “Later,...

Twitter Seems to Think Sarah Sherman Is Really Leaving ‘SNL’
Image
Scarlett Johansson combined two tried-and-true SNL monologue traditions Saturday night, performing a song (a laugh-starved parody of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man”) and taking questions from the audience.

The song did have one interesting curveball when Johansson belted out this lyric:

It’s been a great season

And Sarah is leaving

We’re all going to miss you next year

“Wait, what?” Sherman protested. “Did you guys hear something? What Do You Mean, Leaving?”

The announcement is almost certainly a joke — after her fake cries of protest, Sherman flashed a big goofy grin and joined back in for the sing-along. But SNL fans on Twitter weren’t so sure it was a gag.

Why even make the joke? It’s likely Johansson’s wink to all of the online rumors about other cast members on the way out, most prominently her husband, Colin Jost, and his Weekend Update co-anchor, Michael Che.

‘SNL’: Kanye West Parodied, Says ‘I’m in the KKK Now’ in Wild Sketch With Mike Myers
Image
Is there anything scarier than being stuck alone in an elevator with Kanye West? In the season finale of “Saturday Night Live,” Mike Myers steps into an elevator alongside host Scarlett Johansson, only for them to be joined by a sunglass-wearing Kanye West (played by Kenan Thompson). Terrified, Johansson quickly exits the elevator, leaving Myers stuck with ‘Ye.

West begins the nightmarish ride by asking how Myers has been since the last time they saw each other, which was at “that Hurricane Katrina Benefit where I said George Bush doesn’t care about Black people and you just had to stand there looking stupid,” referencing West’s infamous 2005 rant during NBC’s Concert for Hurricane Relief.

Myers asks West what he’s been up to in the meantime, to which Kanye replies, “I’m in the KKK now,” before asking after Myers’ children. “My kids?” Myers responded nervously. “My kids are safe.

SNL: Mike Myers Has an Awkward Reunion With ‘Kanye West’ — Watch
Image
Saturday Night Live has been giving us plenty of big-name reunions in its landmark 50th season… but we weren’t expecting this one.

Former cast member Mike Myers appeared as himself in a sketch on Saturday’s season finale, entering an elevator and getting greeted by fans. When the elevator stopped, though, he was confronted by a figure from his past: rapper Kanye West, played by Kenan Thompson in a black sweatshirt and sunglasses. (Quick history lesson: Myers and West appeared together at a benefit for Hurricane Katrina victims in 2005, with Myers forced to stand by awkwardly as Kanye ranted...

SNL Video: Scarlett Johansson Raps With Please Don’t Destroy About Flying First Class (and Landing at Newark)
Image
Scarlett Johansson showed the Please Don’t Destroy boys the pleasures of flying first class this week on Saturday Night Live — and showed them she’s got bars, too.

Johannson, who hosted Saturday’s SNL season finale, popped up in a Please Don’t Destroy digital short to offer the trio a way to ease their worried minds: a vacation on her dime where they’ll all fly first class. Once they got on the plane, it transformed into a rap video, with the guys enjoying every bit of their newfound baller status… fully reclining seats and all. Johansson got in on the act,...

Scarlett Johansson Ushers In ‘SNL’ Season 50 Finale With Musical Tribute Set To Billy Joel’s ‘Piano Man’ — And Joke That Sarah Sherman Is Leaving
Image
In a pitch-perfect sendup of Saturday Night Live‘s historic Season 50, Scarlett Johansson ushered in the finale episode surrounded by the late-night show’s cast, singing a rendition of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” dedicated to opening monologues themselves.

The Jurassic World Rebirth star, in her seventh time hosting (the most of any woman; Alec Baldwin holds the record overall), began by reflecting on her first-time stint at the age of 21. “It’s crazy to be back here, what, like three years later? Man, time really flies,” she joked.

Transitioning swiftly, Johansson launched into the opening track lines: “It’s 11:30 on a Saturday / finale of Season 50 / it’s chaotic and crazy, the whole week is hazy / but there’s no place that I’d rather be.” She was soon upstaged by Bowen Yang, who stole a verse with: “Sometimes we play likable characters / other times we play Jd Vance / it’s not always funny,...

‘Saturday Night Live’: Scarlett Johansson claims Sarah Sherman is ‘leaving,’ Mike Myers meets ‘Kanye,’ and more best moments
Image
As Saturday Night Live closes out its 50th season, who better to host the finale than Scarlett Johansson? The two-time Oscar nominee (Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit) is no stranger to Studio 8H: in addition to hosting six previous times, she's also married to Weekend Update host Colin Jost, making it easier for her to pop up for some surprise cameos here and there.

This year on the film circuit, Johansson is reuniting with Asteroid City director Wes Anderson for The Phoenician Scheme, and she's also starring in the upcoming Jurassic World: Rebirth. Here are the best moments from Johansson's latest SNL hosting gig, from the opening monologue to the best sketches.

Scarlett Johansson Sings “Piano Man” Parody With Heartfelt ‘SNL’ Twist to Close Out Season 50
Image
Scarlett Johansson and the cast of Saturday Night Live paid tribute to the show’s 50th season with a musical opening monologue that riffed on Billy Joel’s classic hit “Piano Man.”

Back for her seventh time hosting, the Jurassic World Rebirth star kicked off the night by proclaiming how “excited” she was “to be hosting the finale of season 50.”

“I’m so proud to be a part of it.” she said. “You know, I first hosted the show when I was 21 years old, so it’s crazy to be back here, what, like 3 years later. Man, time really flies.” After that, she launched into song.

“It’s 11:30 on a Saturday, finale of season 50,” she sang. “It’s chaotic and crazy, the whole week is hazy, but there’s no place I’d rather be.”

Johansson started the monologue solo before she was slowly joined by more of the show’s cast members,...

Black Widow Won’t Return for Avengers: Doomsday, Says Scarlett Johansson
Image
Scarlett Johansson confirms she’s stepping away from the MCU, citing narrative closure for Natasha Romanoff and past tensions with Disney—here’s everything we know, from Endgame to her explosive Vanity Fair profile.

Natasha’s Sacrifice in Endgame: A Hero’s Farewell

Black Widow’s death in Avengers: Endgame (2019) remains one of the MCU’s most gut-wrenching moments—a sacrifice still debated by fans on Reddit. Natasha and Clint Barton travel to Vormir to retrieve the Soul Stone, learning it requires a soul to be sacrificed—”a soul for a soul,” as Red Skull ominously puts it.

“I miss my buddies and really would love to be with them forever, but what works about the character is that her story is complete.”

Johansson’s Natasha, determined to save the universe and her “chosen family,” makes the ultimate sacrifice, plummeting to her death so Hawkeye can return to his kids.

“She had every right… And she didn’t”: Scarlett Johansson Reportedly Went Out of Her Way to Scorn Blake Lively in Justin Baldoni Feud

Scarlett Johansson is no stranger to navigating the complex web of Hollywood’s ups and downs. In the latest scenarios of Hollywood’s legal battle, Johansson has reportedly chosen to stand by Justin Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios. The actress amid the public feud involving Baldoni, Blake Lively, and Ryan Reynolds refused to shy away from the controversy.

Johansson reportedly praised Baldoni’s company in a recent interview. The Avengers star, who has deep ties to both sides of this drama, could easily distance herself from the situation, but instead, she chose professionalism over personal drama amid her directorial debut, Eleanor the Great.

Scarlett Johansson Recalls Being Typecast After Career-Defining 2003 Role: "The Girlfriend, The Other Woman, A Sex Object..."
Image
Scarlett Johansson opens up about her early experiences in Hollywood after her breakout role in Lost in Translation. Johansson was just 17-years-old when she starred opposite Bill Murray in Sofia Coppola's poignant comedy-drama. Over 20 years later, it remains one of Johansson's best movies, and her performance seems even more precocious and impressive in retrospect. Although Lost in Translation introduced Johansson to a bigger audience than ever before, she soon found herself fighting against an industry that wanted to typecast her.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Johansson states that she was disappointed in the roles that she was offered in the years following Lost in Translation. Although she had proven her acting chops, she only received offers for bland roles that aimed to cash in on her looks.

After Lost in Translation, every role that I was offered for years was ‘the girlfriend,’ ‘the other woman,’ a sex object...

‘The Chronology of Water’: Will Kristen Stewart’s Directorial Debut and Jim Belushi and Thora Birch’s Supporting Performances Generate Awards Heat?
Image
Okay, now Kristen Stewart is just showing off.

The Oscar nominated “Spencer” star steps behind the camera, writing and directing “The Chronology of Water,” which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. A portrait of pain, rebirth and reclamation, the film’s heartbeat comes from Stewart’s skillful and natural filmmaking. It is bolstered by two veteran actors we haven’t seen do something like this in years, Jim Belushi and Thora Birch.

Adapted from Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir, it recounts her story of going from a champion swimmer, to an addict, and later a writer. Stewart’s directorial debut has an avant-garde sensibility that’s part “The Basketball Diaries,” part Terrence Malick reverie, with a dash of Jim Jarmusch’s cool restraint and an undercurrent of rebellion that flows through it. The film benefits by being made from a female perspective that never shies...

Cannes: Falling Palm Tree Injures Pedestrian, Closing Down Section of Croisette
Image
A pedestrian was reportedly seriously injured near the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday after strong winds blew down a palm tree.

A section of the walkway along the Croisette, the main boulevard that runs through the seaside resort, was closed as emergency workers cleared debris. The accident occurred near the Mademoiselle Gray Plage Barriere beach, a venue where many parties and events are held during the festival.

A spokesperson for Cannes confirmed that a pedestrian had been injured, but referred other inquiries to City Hall. A spokesperson for City Hall did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

It was not immediately clear what injuries the person had suffered, but according to Screen International, “A man was…seen lying on the ground with blood coming from his head, being attended to by fellow pedestrians, and emergency services were called.”

Another witness told the Afp: “There was a terrible...

Cleveland Has Become A Go-To City For Making Superhero Epics, And It Makes Total Sense
Image
Even if you've never visited New York City, Hollywood, or even Chicago, the average person could probably identify each skyline based solely on the countless establishing shots provided throughout cinema history. The same is not as true for a city like Cleveland, Ohio, the so-called "Mistake by the Lake" that I called home throughout my 20s. Cleveland, as a city, gets a bad rap from the rest of the world — as evident by how often the city is used as a punchline.

Ohio, in general, is often used as a shorthand to mean "Anywhere, USA," even if a movie or TV show isn't filmed there. And yet, Marvel's "The Avengers" used Cleveland to double as Germany, while "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" reused the locations to be on the other side of the globe. The building where Loki (Tom Hiddleston) commands everyone to kneel? Yeah, that's the same building where...

Scarlett Johansson Is Really Brave for What She Said About Justin Baldoni Amid His Fight With Blake Lively
Image
“Sometimes silence is betrayal,” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, but silence wasn’t on Scarlett Johansson’s script…not this time. Amid the thicket of lawsuits, celebrity entanglements, and reputational tightropes, she chose voice over vacillation.

When asked about Justin Baldoni—who’s currently embroiled in legal drama with Blake Lively, wife of her ex-husband Ryan Reynolds—Johansson could’ve pirouetted around the question with the practiced grace of Hollywood evasion. But no. She laughed and offered not a retreat, but a reverent nod to Baldoni’s support of her directorial debut, Eleanor the Great, produced by his Wayfarer Studios.

Black Widow Star Scarlett Johansson Explains Why Shooting 2012's The Avengers Felt Like "A Big Mess"
Image
Before The Avengers was released in 2012, no one thought it would work. After all, how could you take superheroes from such vastly different franchises and bring them together for a team-up movie? It seemed impossible and was a huge gamble for Marvel Studios.

With Joss Whedon, a largely untested blockbuster filmmaker, at the helm, The Avengers—titled Avengers Assemble in the UK—could have killed the MCU as we know it. Instead, it received glowing reviews and grossed $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office, putting Marvel Studios on an unforgettable streak of success.

Talking in a new career retrospective, Scarlett Johansson admitted that she and the rest of the cast also had their doubts about assembling Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

"When we made the first ‘Avengers’ none of us knew what the potential would be," the actor said. "'Iron Man' was massively successful. It was huge. It built the studio of Marvel.

Kristen Stewart Gets Emotional After Directorial Debut ‘The Chronology of Water’ Receives Warm Reception in Cannes
Image
Kristen Stewart’s long-awaited directorial debut The Chronology of Water received a warm reception at its world premiere in Cannes Friday night, with the crowd inside the Palais des Festivals greeting the film with a four-and-a-half-minute standing ovation.

An emotional Stewart embraced her actors with hugs and high-fives as the ovation carried on. She later bounded across the auditorium to give Cannes head Thierry Frémaux a long hug.

“I don’t have anything else to say; I left it all on the screen,” Stewart said in part. “Just thank you all for being here. Seriously, we finished the movie five minutes ago — it’s not even done. We got so lucky, and I’m so grateful to be here.”

She then gestured to her star, Imogen Poots, to take the mic, saying, “Truly, your body is the movie, I’m giving it to you.”

An emotional Poots obliged, saying only,...

Kristen Stewart’s Directorial Debut ‘The Chronology of Water,’ An Unflinching Portrait of Abuse and Addiction, Earns 4-Minute Cannes Ovation
Image
Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut “The Chronology of Water” premiered at Cannes Film Festival to a just over four-minute standing ovation on Friday night — and left many in the crowd wiping their eyes.

Imogen Poots’ knockout performance was certainly a highlight of Stewart’s adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s 2011 memoir of the same name, but just as notable was her directing style — raw, artsy and unflinching. Poots stars as Yuknavitch in Stewart’s non-linear take on the bestselling writer’s life, which includes shocking scenes of sexual abuse by her father and her spiral into drug use juxtaposed with the poetic salvation she found from being in water.

As the house lights went up, Stewart — dressed in a chic white short suit and matching baseball cap — hugged everyone in her cast and crew and directed the attention toward them. After kissing her wife Dylan Meyer, she allowed the spotlight to shine on her,...

Selecting the best characters in such a vast cinematic universe is no easy task. That’s why we turned to Ranker, where over 50,000 fans cast their votes for their personal favorite MCU character. I must say, the number 1 choice surprised me. Let’s dive into the rankings!

10. Scarlet Witch (17980 Votes)

Despite having one of the shortest character arcs in the MCU, Scarlet Witch’s story deeply resonated with fans. She endured loss, gained powers, and found love – a significant anchor in a chaotic world. Losing her love to Thanos and facing countless challenges along the way, she eventually experienced a profound breakdown during ‘WandaVision.’

As real life and The Handmaid’s Tale have taught us, the patriarchy isn’t going to smash itself. And we don’t begrudge an oppressed faction any advantage in winning its fight. But when we watched the Hulu drama’s most recent episode, something leapt out at us: Isn’t cake a really iffy hook on which to hang handmaid liberation?

Confused? We’ll back up a moment. This week’s Handmaid’s Tale found Elisabeth Moss’ June and Samira Wiley’s Moira back in Gilead and undercover as handmaids in order to lead their enslaved sisters in mass murder.

Scarlett Johansson On Filming ‘The Avengers’: “It Just Felt Like A Big Mess”
Image
Scarlett Johansson is looking back on filming The Avengers and said it initially “felt like a big mess.”

The Black Widow star remembered the lead-up to the 2012 film team-up connecting the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“When we made the first Avengers none of us knew what the potential would be,” Johansson said in an interview with Vanity Fair. “Iron Man was massively successful. It was huge. It built the studio of Marvel. Iron Man 2 was also successful.”

Johansson made her MCU debut as Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) in 2010’s Iron Man 2 before starring in 2012’s The Avengers.

“There was Thor, but that character felt like it was from a completely different universe. It was such a different tone from the Iron Man movies,” she added. “The Captain America movie had its own identity as well. When you added the characters all together, plus Hulk and Hawkeye, it just felt...

Say It Ain’t So, Jo: Grey’s Anatomy Wouldn’t Really Make Link’s Bride a Widow… Would It?

Grey’s Anatomy can’t, right? It can’t kill off Link the episode after he tied the knot with his Bff and true love, Jo. He’d just found out that the twins that they’re expecting are girls. They’d just “honeymooned” in a Grey Sloan supply closet. They’d finally begun their happy ending.

Oh my God, the long-running ABC drama is going to send Link to the morgue, isn’t it? What could be more Grey’s Anatomy than that! This is, after all, the show that wrecked us with George’s demise, then smacked us with Mark...

Leos Carax, Albert Serra, David Lowery, Alexander Payne & More Plan Next Features
Image
Kicking things off with a small but enticing update, following last year’s incredible cine-memoir It’s Not Me, Leos Carax is finally prepping a 2026 shoot for his first narrative feature since Annette. While not much is known about the project, a casting call confirms Léa Seydoux and Adam Driver will star in the Paris-set feature. Speaking of Driver: he’s also set to soon shoot James Gray’s Paper Tigers, in which Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller stepped in for Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong, respectively.

Last year, when we spoke to Albert Serra about his planned collaboration with Kristen Stewart for Out of This World, he seemed hesitant if the casting may come together and, indeed, it proved too good to be true. Variety now reports Riley Keough will lead the film alongside F. Murray Abraham and Liza Yankovskaia. The film follows “an American delegation traveling to...
