- Michiel Huisman boasts an extensive career on both the small and large screen. He is currently shooting a lead role in Zack Snyder's film Rebel Moon for Netflix. He will next be seen as "Prince" in the Apple TV series Echo 3 opposite Luke Evans and created by Mark Boal. Most recently, he was seen in Netflix's A Boy Called Christmas opposite Sally Hawkins and Dame Maggie Smith, and the Spectrum Originals limited series, Angela Black.

On television Michiel is best known as series regular Daario Naharis on HBO's Game of Thrones. He starred in season one of HBO Max's, The Flight Attendant opposite Kaley Cuoco, and in Netflix's The Haunting of Hill House. - Michiel is also a musician. He sings, plays the guitar and writes his own music. In 2005 he released his debut solo album in Dutch: Luchtige Verhalen (i.e. Lighthearted Stories).
- In September 2013, it was confirmed that Huisman would take over the role of Daario Naharis in the fourth season (2014) of Game of Thrones (2011). The role was previously played by actor Ed Skrein.
- Huisman first met his wife, Dutch actress Tara Elders, on the set of Phileine Says Sorry in 2003. Huisman and Elders both starred in two short films directed by Dirk Tuinder, Funny Dewdrop (2007) and Winterland (2009).
- He was a part of the Dutch band Fontane. The band consisted of Huisman, Roland van der Hoofd, Gilles Tuinder and Bas van Geldere. They made music for the Dutch films Costa! and Full Moon Party (in both of which Huisman played a starring role). The band later split up and Huisman decided to pursue music on his own.

- Growing up in Holland, I always thought my name was boring, but in the U.S., all of a sudden I have a very cool name.
- I learned English at school, or at least that's how it started. Also, in Holland - as opposed to some other European countries - we don't dub anything, so as a kid growing up, always watching English and American movies in their original language really helped.
- I guess I was a child actor. Acting was one of the things I did alongside going to school: I'd be playing guitar, I'd be playing soccer, and I would be acting in movies.
- The Dutch film industry is a pretty small community, so within Holland, I think most actors know each other and have worked with each other.
