Peter Howitt was born on 5 May 1957 in Manchester, England, UK. He is an actor and director, known for Sliding Doors (1998), Dangerous Parking (2007) and Johnny English (2003). He has been married to Lorraine since 5 August 2001. They have two children.

In 2003 he was the only British director to have two films in the UK all-time top ten at the same time.

Lives in Vancouver, BC, Canada, with his wife and kids. (March 2008)

He has a son named Luke (born 8 April 1990) and a daughter named Amy (born 1 February 2008).
