Mighty Mouse is on his way to the big screen, and Ryan Reynolds is here to save the day. Mighty Mouse debuted in 1942 as Super Mouse, a superhero mouse that is a cross between Mickey Mouse and Superman. The character starred in 80 theatrical shorts from 1942 to 1961, and experienced a resurgence in popularity thanks to his 1955 Saturday morning cartoon. While the character has seemingly fallen out of popularity, Paramount Pictures is looking to relaunch the tiny hero with the help of a big superhero actor.

Will Smith is known to deliver blockbuster hits, but after a minor roadblock along the way (or should we say a ‘slap’), the actor fell from the good graces of fans and Hollywood. But he is back and as strong as ever, given the recent success of Bad Boys: Ride or Die. Taking one step further to reclaim his career, he could be potentially collaborating with Michael Bay, if all things go right.

A collaboration that will undeniably have a lot of action, it seems a bit similar to Henry Cavill’s $200 million disaster film, which left audiences underwhelmed. Blockbuster action director Michael Bay and Will Smith are set to reunite for Netflix film Fast And Loose. Here are the details.
Having previously collaborated fruitfully on the Bad Boys franchise in the 1990s and early 2000s, Will Smith and Michael Bay are finally reuniting for a new movie. It’s an action thriller called Fast And Loose, which is being made for Netflix.
It’s Smith and Bay’s first film together for two decades, and sounds an awful lot like 1990’s Total Recall but with the bits on Mars taken out.
The synopsis, via Deadline, reads as follows:
A man wakes up in Tijuana with no memories. As he pieces together his past, he learns he’s been living two lives: one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA agent.

Summit announced Red 3 in 2013 before Red 2 was even released, but it never materialized due to declining ratings and box office returns. Bruce Willis' retirement from acting marks the end of any possibility for Red 3, leading to no ongoing development for the film. With mediocre reviews, the Dave Bautista-led action-comedy was solid family entertainment when audiences sorely needed new things to watch. Four years later, Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman have reunited for a sequel that is bigger and better than the original but still nowhere near as good as it should be.

My Spy: The Eternal City lacks comedy and struggles to balance action, sentimentality, and humor effectively. The film features improved production values but falls flat in terms of comedy, despite a talented cast. My Spy: The Eternal City explores the evolving relationship between JJ and Sophie but fails to bring genuine laughs to the table.
My Spy was a theatrical release relegated to streaming with little fanfare because of Covid lockdowns. The generation that grew up with such gems like The Game Plan, The Pacifier, and The Spy Next Door may have been prone to share the Dave Bautista-led movie with their children or younger relatives, but the former athlete/action star meets precocious child actor formula wasnt enthusiastically welcomed in 2020. This was also the sentiment shared about My Spy, and yet it got a sequel with My Spy: The Eternal City, an unnecessary follow-up that struggles at every turn.

Decorated filmmaker Pete Segal is no stranger to comedies or sequels, but My Spy The Eternal City is far from his best of either. Writers Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber (alongside Segal) uphold the calcified pillars of Hollywood sequels, but their continuation hardly presents like an upgrade. What was once an undercover romantic comedy about a peewee spy in training and her hulking protector is now a generic espionage comedy filled with exhausting stereotypes. The cast welcomes tantalizing additions, the film relocates overseas, and theres a stronger sense of danger which would mean something with tighter execution. Yet My Spy The Eternal City deceptively lacks ambition despite European cityscapes and recognizable celebrity faces, failing to reassure that Prime Videos My Spy has franchise legs.

Peter Segal’s completely disposable 2020 action comedy My Spy was an entry into the microgenre featuring a strongman action star playing bodyguard to an irascible child. The film’s sequel, My Spy the Eternal City, embraces the equally hoary clichés of comedies revolving around stepparents, with Dave Bautista’s C.I.A. operative JJ adjusting to domesticity with the now-teenaged Sophie (Chloe Coleman) and her mother, Kate (Parisa Fitz-Henley), while struggling to relate to the girl as a parent and not merely a protector.
Naturally, JJ’s attempt to live a simpler life doesn’t last long, and when he elects to be a chaperone for Sophie’s choir on a trip to Italy, he finds himself embroiled in a convoluted scheme involving a terrorist plot after one of Sophie’s classmates, Collin (Taeho K)—who just so happens to be the son of JJ’s C.I.A. boss,...

Beverly Hills Cop is one of the best and most iconic franchises in the action comedy genre, and most of the credit for that goes to its leading man, Eddie Murphy. Created by Danilo Bach and Daniel Petrie Jr., the first film in the franchise came out in 1984, and now, with the fourth film coming out nearly thirty years after the third and the worst film in the franchise came out, the hype for the franchise and its iconic theme song is back on the top. So, if you loved Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, here are some more great action comedy films you could watch next.

Battleship 2 never happened due to poor box office income and lackluster audience response to the original film. Critical reception also played a role in the cancellation, with negative reviews affecting interest in a sequel. Despite the flop, the cast of Battleship rebounded well, with some members finding success in other projects.
Even though Universal and Hasbro Studios' 2012 blockbuster Battleship was a huge investment for the company, plans for Battleship 2 and an extended franchise never came to fruition. Taking the simple board game and converting it into a blockbuster, the movie followed a fleet of Navy ships doing battle with an army of alien ships. The movie boasted a gargantuan budget of between $209-$220 million and stars including Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, and Rihanna. Yet despite having all the hallmarks of a franchise launchpad, the movie failed to kickstart a successful Battleship series.
Battleship 2012 was an unusual combination of unorthodox adaptation and sci-fi epic.

Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman are back in My Spy: The Eternal City, and here’s the trailer for the film.
My Spy was a fun family comedy that landed on Amazon Prime in 2020 after being delayed by the events of that year. It also made the cover of one of our junior magazines too. It was the third most watched streaming film of the year after Hamilton on Disney+ and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm on Prime Video.
Following in the footsteps of similar ‘tough guy action star does a family comedy’ – a surprisingly crowded subgenre with the likes of Vin Diesel in The Pacifier, Jackie Chan in The Spy Next Door and Hulk Hogan in Mr Nanny – My Spy followed Dave Bautista as CIA operative JJ, who is assigned to keep watch on a family and is soon discovered by their precocious nine year old daughter, Sophie, played by Chloe Coleman.

Bruce Willis became a major Hollywood action star and box office draw when his performance as John McClane in Die Hard led to huge success. Despite being synonymous with the hard-boiled NYPD cop, Willis' career certainly doesn't end there, and the action hero has taken on a variety of compelling and enjoyable roles. From playing a former assassin rounding up his old crew to an oil driller tasked with destroying a meteor, Willis has taken on some of cinema's best parts.
Bruce Willis has one of Hollywood's most entertaining careers and has tackled virtually every genre, from comedy and romance to war and science fiction. While John McClane is still his most recognized role, his performances in classic works of cinema show his impressive range beyond action stories. The anime world is buzzing with excitement as Tasha Huo, renowned for her work on ‘Red Sonja’ and the ‘Tomb Raider’ animated series, has been announced to take on the script for Lionsgate’s live-action ‘Naruto‘ movie. This revelation came from Variety’s ‘10 Screenwriters to Watch for 2023,’ highlighting Huo’s rising prominence in the industry.
Lionsgate’s journey to adapt ‘Naruto’ has been a long and evolving process. The Tracking Board Hollywood news website first broke the news in 2015 that Lionsgate had secured the rights for the manga’s live-action film adaptation. They were in talks with Michael Gracey, known for directing ‘The Greatest Showman,’ to helm the project. A year later, at the Jump Festa event, it was confirmed that Lionsgate and Gracey were working on the film with the involvement of Masashi Kishimoto, the original creator of ‘Naruto.’
The production has seen various key figures involved over the years.

There was a significant degree of excitement in horror circles when it was announced that British director Ben Wheatley was going to be directing the sequel to 2018’s Jason Statham vs Giant Shark blockbuster The Meg. The hope was that Wheatley’s horror sensibilities and eye for jet-black humour would add a bit of bite to what was otherwise a passably entertaining, but ultimately uninspired Jaws retread. Unfortunately, those hopes have not come to pass, as there’s very little trace of the acclaimed British director’s signature touch in this largely derivative sequel.

The following article contains major spoilers for the novels Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror and The Trench, as well as the feature films The Meg and Meg 2: The Trench.
One year before Steven Spielberg made us all afraid to go into the water, Peter Benchley’s 1974 novel Jaws took the literary world by storm. Nearly fifty years after publication it remains one of the most popular examples of shark fiction with few titles entering the waters of its elite circle. One such novel is Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror by Steve Alten.
Published in 1997, this sci-fi horror brings to life Otodus megalodon, a prehistoric relative of the great white shark estimated to stretch up to 65 feet in length. The novel pits retired rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham in the movies) against this mammoth beast after it escapes from a warmer pocket of water near the Mariana Trench.

Director Louis Leterrier expresses his desire for more sequels in The Transporter franchise, with Jason Statham reprising his role. The Transporter franchise originally launched Statham's action star career, with the first film showcasing his skills as an ex-soldier turned mercenary driver. The reboot released in 2015, The Transporter Refueled, recast Statham with Ed Skrein and was poorly received by critics.
Director Louis Leterrier may have found a new fast and furious family helming the likes of Fast X, but things for the filmmaker were plenty fast and furious back in 2002, when he teamed up with Jason Statham for The Transporter. Now, speaking with Comicbook.com, Leterrier has called for more sequels in The Transporter franchise with The Stath back in the lead.
"I mean, that would be a dream. No, I mean we've shot commercials together, we've seen each other socially, but we hadn't worked together for a long, long time and...

Meg 2: The Trench debuted at number two at the box office on its opening weekend, despite poor reviews.
The latest film in the Meg franchise had several popular films to compete with on its opening weekend, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Oppenheimer, both of which have garnered excellent reviews from fans and critics alike. The Meg 2, however, was fighting both rivals at the box office and poor reviews, some of which criticized the film for being boring, cheesy, and predictable. Per Box Office Mojo, The Meg 2 rose above the less-than-stellar reviews to claim the coveted second-place spot, coming in just below Barbie at $30 million; Barbie earned $53 million to retain its top spot.

Back in 2018, The Meg was a big time success at the box office, debuting to $45 million here in the United States and going on to gobble up $530 million worldwide. It’s no surprise that Warner Bros. is back at it with Meg 2: The Trench, now playing in theaters worldwide.
How is the shark attack sequel performing at the box office? Meg 2: The Trench debuted to $30 million here in the United States over the weekend, $15 million less than the previous movie opened to back in 2018. But Warner Bros. is no doubt counting on Meg 2 making the bulk of its money internationally; worldwide, the film has already scared up $142 million.
A good chunk of that worldwide total so far is coming out of China.

How is the shark attack sequel performing at the box office? Meg 2: The Trench debuted to $30 million here in the United States over the weekend, $15 million less than the previous movie opened to back in 2018.

The summer shark movie should be silly. It should know exactly what it is: a B-movie with a bigger-than-expected budget, a bankable star, and unlimited scenes of sharks eating people in absurd ways. Meg 2: The Trench, a follow-up to 2018’s hit The Meg, oscillates between its B-movie sensibilities and a self-seriousness unnecessary for this subgenre. Again starring Jason Statham as the megalodon-fighting, submarine-diving Jonas Taylor, the film, this time helmed by Ben Wheatley, struggles to replicate the same joy of the first.
Meg 2 has fast-forwarded the plot, leaving Taylor’s supposed wife, Suyin Zhang, in the past and now caring for her child, Meiying (Sophia Cai). Taylor re-teams with his friends to dive deep into the Mariana Trench, exploring unseen depths of the ocean. The plan quickly devolves and the squad must traverse the ocean floor to an underwater lab for safety, circled by megalodons and other prehistoric creatures.

"The Meg," the movie that dared ask, "What if a shark ... was really big?", now has a sequel that asks, "What if there were even more really big sharks? And also, what if we made that boring?" A film destined for the August dumping pile, "Meg 2: The Trench" is notable because it comes from filmmaker Ben Wheatley, a director responsible for the disturbing masterpiece "Kill List," the J.G. Ballard adaptation "High Rise," and more. Wheatley is an excellent filmmaker, and the idea of giving him a blockbuster budget to make a giant shark movie is enticing, at least on paper. Sadly, Wheatley can't work his magic here, as he's saddled with a clunky, dull, low-energy script by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, and Dean Georgaris. Just how do you make a movie about gigantic prehistoric sharks chomping on modern-day humans so dull? It's kind of impressive.
