Donald Trump has had payback on the brain since he was convicted on 34 felony charges of falsifying business records in New York last week. He told Sean Hannity on Wednesday that he would have “every right” to weaponize the Justice Department to prosecute his political enemies should he win in November. He told Dr. Phil a day later that “sometimes revenge can be justified,” with the interview airing hours after he called for members of the House Jan. 6 Committee to be indicted. This all comes amid months of the former...

Steve Bannon has been ordered to report to prison by July 1 to serve time over his refusal to turn over documents related to Congress’ investigation in the deadly riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
The right-wing podcast host and former adviser to Donald Trump will serve four months in prison after he was convicted of two misdemeanor counts of contempt of Congress in 2022. This means one of the Maga movement’s most prominent voices will be behind bars for a large portion of Trump’s presidential campaign.

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are likely to interrupt one another during CNN’s telecast of the first presidential debate in the run-up to the 2024 election. But they will also be cut off by something else.
CNN plans to run commercials during the event, according to two people familiar with the matter, which has run free of ads for many years under the management of the non-partisan Commission on Presidential Debates. The candidates have in this cycle opted to forego the Cpd’s traditional structure, which calls for a series of debates to be held closer to the November election. They have instead come to separate terms with CNN for a debate to be held on June 27 and with ABC News for a debate to be held on September 10.

In a new Joe Biden campaign advertisement, Robert De Niro declared that former president Donald Trump “snapped” after he lost the 2020 presidential election.
“From midnight tweets to drinking bleach to tear-gassing citizens and staging a photo-op,” De Niro recounted at the beginning of the advertisement. “We knew Trump was out of control when he was president, and then he lost the 2020 election and snapped.”
“Desperately trying to hold on to power,” he said while clips of the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack were shown in the ad. “Now he’s running again, this time threatening to be a dictator, to terminate the Constitution.”
De Niro’s “dictator” comment was in reference to his telling Fox News’s Sean Hannity during a town hall interview in December that he would only be a dictator on the first day of his presidency.
The campaign ad then showed a video of the former president saying at a rally in Dayton,...

“The gatekeepers are gone,” Colin Jost told a roomful of journalists at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 27, before pivoting to the punchline: “Did you know that 90 percent of people now get their news exclusively from social media? And that must be true because I saw it in a random guy’s TikTok.”
For those (ever fewer) media gatekeepers who have major reach, trust is currency. And there’s still a halo effect for those TV stars with broadest viewership — i.e., network TV hosts — particularly evening and morning show anchors for NBC and ABC, a new THR/Morning Consult poll shows. The survey, conducted May 4-5 among a sample of 2,239 U.S. adults, asked opinions about 40-plus major TV news stars, as well as surveyed trends about America’s fractured media diet during a presidential campaign year.

Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, has been slammed on social media for declaring that presidential debates have always been “rigged” in President Joe Biden’s favor.
Early on May 15, Biden and Trump agreed to participate in a presidential debate on CNN on June 27 and a second debate on ABC on September 10.
Lara said during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity that “the scales have always been tipped against Donald Trump.”
Hannity condemned the forthcoming debates. Trump had said that he was willing to debate Biden under any conditions. The host demanded “no notes” and “no teleprompters.”
Despite this, Lara hinted that Trump is ready to take on his opponent.
“And this year more than ever, with all the lawfare, with all we’ve seen against him — in some crazy way, Sean, they’ve actually prepared him for this moment because he’s not afraid...

Sean Hannity, a well-known Fox News personality, has decided to sell his expansive Long Island property for $13.75 million, just months after he revealed his plans to relocate from New York to Florida.
Hannity announced earlier this year that he would broadcast his popular radio show, The Sean Hannity Show, and his television program, Hannity, from studios in West Palm Beach.
“We are now beginning our first broadcast from my new home, which is in the free state of Florida,” Hannity announced on his iHeartRadio show. “I am out. I am done. I’m finished.”
A limited liability company associated with Hannity purchased the waterfront estate for $8.5 million in 2008.
Located on nearly six acres in Centre Island, approximately 40 miles east of Midtown Manhattan, the property enjoys a prime location. Centre Island has attracted celebrities, such as notable residents like Billy Joel, who listed his property for $49 million last year. Joel’s...

If you haven’t caught “The Trial of Hunter Biden” on Fox Nation since its 2022 release, it appears you’re out of luck. TVNewser has confirmed that the mock trial miniseries focused on the alleged crimes of the president’s son is no longer available on the streamer, having been pulled after threats of a lawsuit from Biden’s legal team.
Key Details: Biden’s team is reportedly planning a lawsuit against Fox over alleged defamation. Jimmy Failla isn’t taking over Fox News Chanel, but he has, at least for one short period in the late afternoon, seized control of a portion of its New York ground-floor facilities.
The space is typically devoted to a space for guests to hang out and a section for hair and makeup, but Failla uses it to get himself revved up to tape “Fox News Saturday Night,” a program the network says is devoted less to red-versus-blue rants and more to making people laugh. It’s been Donald Trump’s terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week.
The past and potentially future leader of the free world spent most of it in a dingy Manhattan courtroom, no longer the master of his domain. It’s a place where he dutifully sits down when the judge tells him to sit, where he’s unable to say whatever he wants, where he’s not allowed to use his phone. Greg Gutfeld isn’t your typical Fox News personality. But he is turning in to something that is more traditional at the Fox Corp.-backed cable outlet.
Fox News is expected to announce that it recently closed a deal with Gutfeld to extend his contract, a move that spotlights the host’s importance to the network’s operations even if he isn’t in the mold of a Sean Hannity or Laura Ingraham. Under the pact, Gutfeld will continue his co-hosting duties at the roundtable show “The Five” as well as his 10 p.m. program, “Gutfeld!,” a looser take on the issues of the day that marks a bid by Fox News to woo the younger TV viewers who might watch late-night programs such as “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on CBS or “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central. The third anniversary of the 10 p.m. program arrives Friday.

This week, Donald Trump publicly declared that New York Attorney General Letitia James should be “looked at” by the authorities, as the former president raged over her office’s sprawling civil fraud case against his family’s business empire.
Behind the scenes, various lawyers in the Maga upper crust — including several close to the former president — have been crafting specific, novel legal schemes that a Justice Department could use to go after the New York prosecutor, three people familiar with the matter tell Rolling Stone. Jon Stewart unpacked Trump’s $454 million appeal bond on Monday night, calling out so-called experts framing his New York civil fraud case as a “victimless” crime.
The Daily Show host played a reel of Fox News personalities and guests, from Sean Hannity to Stuart Varney, defending the former president after the multimillion dollar judgment was levied against Trump for conspiring to inflate his net worth in order to deceive banks and insurers. Lev Parnas, the former associate of Rudy Giuliani, testified to Congress that he participated in a coordinated effort to accuse President Joe Biden‘s family of corruption. Parnass stated that former President Donald Trump, Giuliani and many GOP politicians and conservative media members helped spread these lies.
Parnas was sentenced in June 2022 for fraud and campaign finance crimes.
On March 21, he gave his testimony at Biden’s impeachment hearing after Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland) asked him about when “the campaign to dig up dirt on Biden” turned into “a campaign to spread disinformation and lies about Biden.”
“Shortly after my arrest on October 9, 2019, to now, I have been trying to share the irrefutable truth with you,” Parnas stated. “The American people have been lied to by Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and various cohorts of individuals in government and media positions. The suspense this Super Tuesday may be in watching how all of the networks try to make the night suspenseful.
Some 16 states and one territory will vote: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Virginia. A Democratic caucus also is being held in American Samoa, and Iowa Democrats also will reveal their results.
But with Joe Biden and Donald Trump on their way to a rematch in the 2024 presidential election, coverage Tuesday will focus on margins of victory, when each candidate will clinch their nomination and what’s next from now until Election Day. There also will be attention to down-ballot races, including California’s Senate primary to fill the seat long held by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-ca).

In an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News Channel, Donald Trump once again highlighted his supposed success on a cognitive test and emphasized the difficulty of the questions. Trump’s remarks were accompanied by a post on his Truth Social platform which boasted about his test performance and called for mandatory testing.
With typical cognitive tests, Trump explained to Hannity, “They’re not that easy, you know. They, they show you the first ones are pretty easy. And then you get up, you get into the middle category, then you get to the end… very few people could answer those questions. They’re, they’re actually very tough.”
Trump said the questions included identification of animal shapes that progressively “got harder,” and complex math problems. The test was administered by former White House physician Ronny Jackson.

After it was reported that Trump intends to support a national abortion ban, the Republican primary frontrunner floated the idea of a 15-week ban during a Fox News interview at the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas on Thursday.
When discussing support for in vitro fertilization (which GOP lawmakers claimed to support, then blocked a bill this week to protect IVF access nationwide), Trump insisted “we’re on the side of women.” Shortly after his declaration, the former president told host Sean Hannity, “More and more I’m hearing about 15 weeks.

Republicans are trying to spin the Biden impeachment inquiry forward after an hours-long deposition with his son Hunter Biden on Wednesday. It’s proving difficult, as the closed-door hearing doesn’t seem to have yielded many revelatory details.
Some Republicans are even conceding that Biden performed well under questioning. “I think when the transcript comes out, it’s gonna read well for him, because they did a great job prepping,” Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) told Fox News host Harris Faulkner Thursday.

The Department of Justice has charged a former FBI informant — whose claims Republicans used to bolster allegations of a corrupt bribery scheme involving Hunter Biden and the Ukrainian energy company Burisma — with two counts of making false statements to federal authorities.
The indictment, announced Thursday by Special Counsel David Weiss, alleges that Alexander Smirnov “falsely claimed” that during two business meetings in 2015 and/or 2016 “executives associated with Burisma, admitted to him that they hired [Hunter Biden] to ‘protect us, through his dad, from all kinds of problems.’”

During The Daily Show segment “Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse” released Tuesday, correspondent Jordan Klepper headed to a Trump rally to ask supporters about presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s chances at the primary and the possibility of a Trump dictatorship, which the former president has alluded to and then later claimed he was kidding about it. To some Trump supporters, some of whom were dressed in American flag swim trunks and Maga caps, the answer rolled off their tongue.
One supporter suggested, “that’s what we need,” in reference to the dictatorship.

On Sunday, former President Donald Trump declared on his social media platform that if Taylor Swift endorsed President Joe Biden, it would be an act of disloyalty.
“I signed and was responsible for the Music Modernization Act (Mma) for Taylor Swift and all other Musical Artists,” Trump wrote on a Truth Social post. “Joe Biden didn’t do anything for Taylor, and never will. There’s no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the History of our Country, and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money. Besides that, I like her boyfriend, Travis [Kelce], even though he may be a Liberal, and probably can’t stand me.”

Former President Donald Trump reportedly bragged to aides that he is more popular than Taylor Swift after intense speculation by right-wing commentators that she is going to endorse President Joe Biden this year.
Swift has not issued an endorsement to any of the 2024 election candidates but endorsed Biden in 2020.
The singer made her endorsement by posting on social media a photo of a platter of homemade “Biden 2020” cookies.
Biden’s aides are hoping to sign her on as a campaign surrogate.
Some conservative commentators have floated conspiracy theories that the NFL season was rigged to offer a Super Bowl platform for the singer alongside her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, the tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Many other Republican candidates have suspending their campaigns this cycle, but Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ exit inspired some pretty biting and snarky reactions today, coming from other politicos and some celebrities.
The reaction may be due to the fact that DeSantis focused so much of his campaign on the culture wars, taking on The Walt Disney Co. even though it is one of the largest employers in the Sunshine State. Or it was due to the fact that DeSantis and a SuperPAC supporting campaign poured tens of millions of dollars into the race, only to finish a distant second in Iowa and not even make it to the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary. Or it was that his campaign was the source of fodder for late-night comics and commentators, including his glitchy Twitter campaign kickoff and attention to his foot attire.

Maher, returning for his first show of 2024, started off by asking Newsom why he didn’t do some “jawboning” to try to resolve the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes so they were resolved earlier. Maher asked why Newsom didn’t just go to both sides and tell them, “You knuckleheads are going to find a number that you agree on at some point. As former Un Ambassador Nikki Haley took the stage at CNN’s town hall in New Hampshire, her chief rival in the state’s primary took to another interview on Fox News.
It was yet another bit of counter-programming on the part of Trump, as well as Fox News, which billed Sean Hannity’s interview as the former president’s first since his victory in the Iowa caucuses. Last week, as Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis participated in CNN’s pre-Iowa debate, Fox News did a town hall with Trump.
Shortly after Haley took the stage, host Jake Tapper asked Haley about Trump’s dog whistle attacks on her, including advancing a conspiracy theory that questioned her eligibility to be president as the child of Indian immigrants. Trump also referred to her as “Nimrada,” misspelling her given first name, Nimarata, clearly reviving birtherism and the “otherness” of his opponents.

California Governor Gavin Newsom weighed in on the presidential prospects of his Florida counterpart and frequent foe, Ron DeSantis, while declaring the race for the Republican nomination all but over.

DeSantis placed a distant second in the Iowa caucuses to Donald Trump this week, but he is far behind in the polls in New Hampshire, which has its primary on Tuesday, and instead has been concentrating more on South Carolina, which has its primary on Feb. 24.
