“Euphoria” and “The White Lotus” star Sydney Sweeney communicated with the real-life Reality Winner to portray her in Tina Satter’s “Reality,” which world premieres at the Berlin Film Festival.

The film, which contains verbatim dialogue from the unedited transcript of an FBI audio recording, follows a tense 90 minutes in the life of whistleblower Winner as the FBI interrogate at her home in 2017. Winner, a former U.S. Air Force member and National Security Agency translator, was sentenced to five years in prison after she leaked an intelligence report to the media.

Ilana Glazer’s “False Positive” is popping up at Hulu. The A24 film, co-written and produced by Glazer and John Lee is set to debut as a Hulu original in 2021.

“False Positive” marks Glazer and Lee’s feature film co-writing debut, after working together on “Broad City.” Glazer stars in the film as Lucy, who after several attempts at trying to get pregnant with her partner Adrian (played by Justin Theroux), find their “dream fertility doctor” in Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan).

“But after becoming pregnant with a healthy baby girl,” the film’s logline reads, “Lucy begins to notice something sinister through Hindle’s gleaming charm, and she sets out to uncover the unsettling truth about him, and her own ‘birth story.’ As if getting pregnant weren’t complicated enough…”

Tesla eschews a straightforward narrative with an abstract telling of the iconic inventor's story. The action takes place primarily on sets against artistic backdrops. Different lighting schemes wash the actors in vivid colors with a nearly constant voice over from Eve Hewson. IFC Films has released a new trailer for Tesla. The biopic is set to chronicle the life of famed scientist Nikola Tesla, who is responsible for alternating-current, which paved the way for the modern age in many ways. Ethan Hawke is playing the iconic figure in the drama which, per the studio, "like it's subject, defies convention." As we can see from the trailer, that statement seems to be rather accurate.

The trailer kicks off by presenting Ethan Hawke as Nikola Tesla, "the greatest inventor of the age." We then get a feel for the unique way the biopic is being presented. Which is, to say the least, not a straightforward approach. The footage touches on the murky history surrounding the important figure, as well as his relationship to Thomas Edison, which is complicated and contentious. Ethan Hawke headlines the biopic, Tesla, having transformed himself—mustache and all—into the once-overlooked, retroactively-revered early 20th century inventor, Nikola Tesla. The indie offering, directed and written by Michael Almereyda, premiered this past January at the Sundance Film Festival, and will make its general release via IFC Films.

Tesla might initially seem like a historical biopic that’s quickly revisiting a topical well, focused on the electrical engineering achievements of Tesla in his famous involvement in the electricity rivalry between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse. After all, an impressively-cast movie covering that very rivalry, The Current War, just saw its belated wide release this past October. However, viewers get a meta-minded slap about 25 seconds into the film’s just-dropped trailer, proving that there’s more to it than we thought.

In case you haven’t noticed, Netflix has this little feature which allows you to see which shows and films are most popular with audiences. Updated every day, these top ten lists give subscribers an overview of what various countries are watching. Of course, Netflix knew this information from the very beginning and it was precisely this informational edge that helped the streamer triumph over its competitors.

Usually, the lists are comprised of some pretty unsurprising entries. Recent toppers, for instance, include the Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, whose arrival on Netflix took the world by storm, as well as hit shows like Money Heist and 13 Reasons Why and popular films like Despicable Me and 365 Dni. Today, however, these standard entries are joined by a pretty unusual one, as rounding off the Top 10 movies list at the bottom spot in #10 is a little-known horror pic from 2013 titled Dark Skies.

Netflix has had a great few months of content, which has worked out well for everyone stuck inside throughout the ongoing pandemic. Huge hits like Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extraterrestrial, horror classic The Silence of the Lambs, Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods and season 4 of 13 Reasons Why have kept viewers consistently occupied this month. Dark Skies is a sci-fi horror pic directed by Scott Stewart and starring Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton, J.K. Simmons and Dakota Goyo. This fairly generic “family being terrorized by a supernatural force” movie earned itself mixed reviews and currently sits at only 41% on Rotten Tomatoes. 13 Reasons Why Season 4 arrives on Netflix in one week, and the streamer has dropped a new sneak peak.

The clip involves Winston (Deaken Bluman) trying to get answers from Ani (Grace Saif) following Monty's death.

"Tell me what really happened and I swear to you I'll never mention it again, to anyone," he sais to a clearly shocked Ani.

"Just tell me what really happened."

Unfortunately for Winston, Ani has the best poker face out there, and gives him the following response:

"I don't know."

It's an awkward scene, for sure, and Winston leaves with the following:

"Why lie to me? What good does that do?"

Indeed, there would be no show if these teenagers told the truth.

Through three seasons, we've had a suicide, an almost school shooting, sexual assault, and murder.

It's been an exhausting series, and with us heading into the final season, there has to be some consequences for the characters.

Netflix is out with the trailer for the fourth and final season of “13 Reasons Why,” and it finds Clay Jensen suffocating under the weight of all of his secrets.

Will Clay Jensen be the first character to crack following the cover-up of Bryce's murder?

Netflix on Wednesday dropped the official trailer for 13 Reasons Why Season 4, and we have our mystery for the final season. 

During the show's third season, fans witnessed most of the characters save Alex from the law to pin the murder of Bryce on Monty. 

Unfortunately for Monty, he did not get to plead his innocence because he was brutally murdered while in jail. 

But fear not, it looks like justice could be served. 

Winston, who slept with Monty on multiple occasions, knows the truth, and the trailer confirms that he is not going to let the teenagers get away with what they did.

Indeed, the teenagers are greeted with writing on the wall that seems to allude that Bryce was not murdered by Monty.

Those are the damning words spray painted onto doors at Liberty High in the final season of “13 Reasons Why” that set the final season’s drama in action, as revealed in the official trailer Netflix released Wednesday.

Monty, or Montgomery de la Cruz (Timothy Granaderos) was the violent teenager who raped Tyler (Devin Druid) and constantly bullied a number of other classmates, as well. He died in the third season of the show, which kept him unable from being able to to deny the accusations that he killed Bryce Walker (Justin Prentice).

IFC Films has picked up Us rights from Cinetic Media and Millennium Media to Sundance 2020 premiere Tesla starring Ethan Hawke.

Michael Almereyda wrote and directed the film about the efforts of Nikola Tesla, the pioneering electrical engineer and contemporary of Thomas Edison, to create an alternative current motor.

Starring alongside Hawke are Eve Hewson, Kyle MacLachlan, Jim Gaffigan, Donnie Keshawarz, Rebecca Dayan, Josh Hamilton, and Lucy Walters.

IFC Films said it has scheduled the film for release on August 7, 2020.

Tesla was awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize in Park City, which Almereyda previously won in 2017 for Marjorie Prime.

A new set of 24 “Viral Monologues” from The 24 Hour Plays will be available on Instagram tonight, with actors Daveed Diggs, Michael Shannon, Clark Gregg, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Dylan Baker, Danny Pudi and Josh Hamilton, among others, performing monologues written by playwrights including Jonathan Marc Sherman, Eric Bogosian and Stephen Adly Guirgis.

See the complete list of performers and writers below. The new round of monologues will begin at 6 pm/Et, with a new one posted every 15 minutes until midnight on Instagram and The 24 Hour Plays website (see links below).

Amazon Studios has signed on to finance and distribute “The Map of Tiny Perfect Things,” a Ya adaptation from Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman and FilmNation.

The streamer comes on board a package that included director Ian Samuels (“Sierra Burgess Is a Loser”), and Variety can exclusively report the film’s just-appointed leads: Kathryn Newton and Kyle Allen.

Shooting is currently underway with FilmNation, run by Glen Basner, and Goldsman’s Weed Road Pictures. The feature film is based off the short story by Lev Grossman, who also adapted the screenplay. Additional cast members include Jermaine Harris (“Ballers”), Anna Mikami, Josh Hamilton and Cleo Fraser.

Working mostly in television with the only exception being Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, John Lee grabbed the director’s chair for the March New Orleans shoot — an A24 horror film toplined by actress Ilana Glazer. Plot details are unknown but the supporting cast includes Justin Theroux, Pierce Brosnan, Zainab Jah, Gretchen Mol, Sophia Bush, and Josh Hamilton.

The fall slate of new and returning fiction podcasts has been released by Gimlet, led by cyber-thriller Motherhacker, in which a single mother (Carrie Coon) journeys through the dark web.

Starting in October, Gimlet will be releasing one fiction series a month through the end of the year, including its first scripted renewals since Homecoming season 2. Streamer Spotify bought Gimlet Media and fellow podcasting company Anchor earlier this year for a reported $340 million. The newly announced slate reflects a ramping up of the production pace.

Besides Motherhacker, Gimlet will also unveil The Horror of Dolores Roach for a second season, wherein listeners can hear the latest from Roach (Daphne Rubin-Vega) and her life underground. Also back is The Two Princes, with an update on Prince Rupert and Prince Amir’s love story and the adventures they find along the way.

Gimlet’s executive producer for scripted fiction is Mimi O’Donnell.

I could watch 100 episodes of “Mrs. Fletcher,” even though the complete set of seven developed by creator and writer Tom Perrotta minutely cover the topic at hand. So sweet in its devotion to blemished characters, so charming in developing their experimental dalliances, the new HBO limited series tells two stories of a mother and son’s parallel awakenings — the latter as he learns to be a man, and the former as she (finally) prioritizes her own identity over that of a wife and mother.

Eve (played with indomitable compassion by Kathryn Hahn) and Brendan Fletcher are a fascinating pair — her a bashful, kind-hearted dreamer and him an ignorant, insensitive buffoon. Perrotta’s suburban tale gently pokes at their misplaced shame and lack of awareness (respectively), creating an easygoing yet potent satire of suburban malaise, confused sexuality, and gender politics. Josh Hamilton (13 Reasons Why) Kerry Condon (Better Call Saul) and Louisa Krause (The Girlfriend Experience) are joining the Liev Schreiber-fronted ensemble in recurring roles, TVLine has learned exclusively.

John Lee co-wrote and is directing the project, which is set up at A24.
