Wednesday Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Potential Plot & All You Need To Know Before Netflix Brings Back Spooky Fun!

Wednesday Season 2 Update (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Wednesday is officially crawling back to your screens — and this time, it’s splitting the chaos. Netflix has confirmed that Wednesday Season 2 will premiere in two parts, with Part 1 landing on August 6 and Part 2 following on September 3. That means fans will only get half the mystery first and then wait nearly a month for the rest. Sound familiar? Yup, this split-drop strategy is becoming a Netflix trend post-Stranger Things 4 and The Witcher.

Wednesday Season 2 Plot: What’s Brewing At Nevermore?

Jenna Ortega will return as the sharp-tongued, deadpan queen of the outcasts. This season, Wednesday will take on an even darker supernatural puzzle while juggling frayed friendships, new foes, and, of course, that wonderfully bizarre family.

The creators are teasing a more layered journey this time. As co-showrunner Alfred Gough put it (via Tudum): “Wednesday Season 1 was a table setter, but there...

The #1 Most-Watched Movie on Netflix Today Is an Action-Packed Highly Violent Thriller
Image
Netflix debuted the new action thriller Havoc last Friday. And the film has already established itself as the most-watched title on the platform in the days since. Judging from the marketing materials, Havoc looks like a gritty actioner that throws back to the exploitation output of yesteryear. Critics are already drawing comparisons to early John Woo, with many praising the fight choreography and dynamic action sequences.

Havoc writer/director Gareth Evans came onto our collective radar with the scrappy action picture The Raid: Redemption and from there he went on to write and co-direct the V/H/S/2 segment ‘Safe Haven.’

Evans is quickly making a name for himself in the genre space. On many of his projects, he takes a producing credit, a writing credit, and a directing credit. Having a role in multiple steps of the filmmaking process is a good way to maintain a higher level of creative control.

Tom Hardy's Havoc's Rotten Tomatoes Score Hinted the Audience Hated the Film (But It's a Hit on Streaming)
Image
Tom Hardy is having a great year. After wrapping up the Venom trilogy in 2024, the actor had two projects that headed straight to streaming and both experienced exciting success on different platforms.

The most recent release is Netflix's action thriller Havoc, which follows the successful Paramount+ series MobLand. Gareth Evans of The Raid fame wrote and directed Havoc, which starred Hardy, Timothy Olyphant, and Forest Whitaker in the main roles. Although the movie opened to mixed reviews from the critics and even worse ratings from the audience,Havoc undeniably became a major hit on Netflix, topping the charts in its first week, per Tudum.

Havoc premiered on Netflix on Apr. 25, and had only two days to make an impact before the streamer stopped the clocks. That makes its viewership even more impressive because, for the week between Apr. 21 and 27, Havoc received 29.8 million views, and 53.1 million hours viewed.

Havoc entered the top 10 in 93 countries,...

Havoc tops Netflix’s streaming charts with a better debut than The Electric State
Forest Whitaker, Tom Hardy, Timothy Olyphant, Sunny Pang, and Jessie Mei Li in Havoc (2025)
Gareth Evans’ Havoc has been a long time coming, but the wait has been well worth it. The hard-hitting action thriller has topped Netflix’s streaming charts with 29.8 million views. This makes the film the most-watched title of the week, but it has also beaten some of Netflix’s more high-profile recent releases, including The Electric State.

The Electric State was a highly anticipated sci-fi adventure movie from the Russo brothers starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt. With a budget of $320 million, it was also one of the most expensive movies ever made. However, although the film debuted at Netflix’s #1 spot, it did so with just 25.2 million views. As Havoc was produced for a fraction of the budget of The Electric State, it’s certainly a lot more bang for the buck. Other recent action flicks also performed better in their debuts, including Carry On with 42 million views...

“I Got a New Concept": 'Havoc' Director Reveals 'The Raid 3' Remains a Possibility
Image
Before titles like John Wick became the gold standard for sleek and stylish action choreography, action fiends were already getting their fix with Gareth Evans' The Raid – a film that would go on to inspire theKeanu Reeves-led franchise. Released in 2011 to both critical and commercial acclaim, The Raid was followed by The Raid 2 (also known as The Raid: Retaliation) in 2014, which met with similar success. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited a third installment to complete the trilogy. Though Evans developed a script several years ago, the project never materialized. Now, more than a decade after the last film, Evans continues to ruminate on new ideas he could take the film, recently teasing that a trilogy could still become a reality.

Since The Raid 2, Evans has continued to leave his mark on Hollywood. Renowned for putting Indonesia's pencak silat martial arts on the global map, the action maestro...

Tom Hardy’s 'Havoc' Accent Gets a Mixed Response From Netflix Viewers
Image
After waiting four, long years, action movie fans had reason to celebrate this weekend as the Tom Hardy-led Netflix thriller, Havoc, was released at last. However, while many have quickly found themselves wonderfully wrapped up in Hardy and The Raid director Gareth Evans’ bullet-ridden tale of a bruised detective forced to battle his way into the criminal underworld, there is one thing that stood out to many viewers. And it’s been met with a mixed response...

Oscar-nominee Tom Hardy has become known for his hardman persona and intensity on-screen. But there’s something else he’s become somewhat infamous for too: accents. Whether it be mumbling through Mad Max: Fury Road and The Revenant, delivering something highly unexpected vocally with Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, or providing two very different voices as Eddie Brock and Venom in the Marvel franchise, Hardy loves to do a voice. Havoc is no different,...

Image
Tom Hardy's new action movie, Havoc, has one of his co-stars raving about the actor's abilities. According to Luis Guzmán, Hardy is the perfect choice to play the next James Bond in Amazon's new film.

Havoc was released on Netflix on April 25, with Hardy starring as Patrick Walker, a jaded cop on a mission to save a politician's son in the high-octane thriller. During Guzmán's time on set with Hardy, he revealed to Screen Rant how he believes the Venom actor can succeed at anything he puts his mind to. "Tom Hardy can do anything he wants to. That’s how good he is," Guzmán gushed.

He went on to cite Bronson, Hardy's 20008 biographical drama, as proof of the actor's ability to nail any role. "Have you ever seen the movie Bronson? Check that movie out that he did. You want to see something intense? See that … and when you see that movie,...

'Wednesday' Creators Expect Fans to "Fall in Love" With Joanna Lumley as Hester Frump
Image
A new member of the Addams Family will be introduced during Wednesday's anticipated second season, and series creators can't wait for fans to meet her. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar recently spoke with Netflix's Tudum about the upcoming season of the hit dark comedy series and what audiences can expect. They also discussed Joanna Lumley's addition to the Tim Burton-directed series. Lumley will portray Morticia's mother, Hester Frump; you can catch a glimpse of her in the trailer below.

Speaking about Lumley, whose iconic portrayal of Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous is beloved and acclaimed, Millar told Tudum:

"The idea of bringing Hester, Morticia's mother, into the fold this season was something we were so excited about. The first day on set when Joanna walked on, she just was Hester, and she nailed every single line, and it's just so delicious. She's perfect and hilarious. That...

'Wednesday' Season 2 Creators Think Audiences Will "Fall in Love' With Joanna Lumley's Hester Frump
Image
We are heading in the right direction after it's been confirmed that Wednesday Season 2 will finally arrive this summer. The first season of the show, which starred Jenna Ortega as the titular character, Wednesday Addams, was a brilliant success for Netflix, and the hopes are that momentum will spread into the sophomore season. While solving a mystery in Season 1, Wednesday was also ingrained in a love triangle as well. So what does Season 2 hold? "Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore," the show’s creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, revealed to Good Housekeeping.

The show's latest trailer points in the direction of a "darker" season to come, but it also previews the arrival of Joanna Lumley, who plays Hester Frump, mother of Catherine Zeta-Jones's Morticia Addams and Wednesday's grandmother.

Tom Hardy's New Netflix Film With 66% Rt Score Fails to Improve the Audience (It Will Still Be a Streaming Hit)
Image
Following the culmination of his Venom trilogy, Tom Hardy entered a very eventful 2025: the release of his gangster series, MobLand, and the recently released Netflix action film, Havoc. The latter has been in development for a long time, with several reshoots, but it still wasn't enough to convince the audience.

Havoc premiered on Netflix on Apr. 25. The action film, with Gareth Evans at the helm, debuted with a disappointing score of 61% on Rotten Tomatoes from the critics, which was barely enough for a "fresh" score. However, as more reviews came in,Havoc's critics' score slightly improved to 66%, but as the audience started reviewing it, they were less and less impressed, as Hardy's new film has an unfortunate 49% approval from the audience.

While the critics praised Havoc's action and fight sequences and directorial style, the audience was less impressed. One review highlights that Havoc "tries to be too many things at once,...

Luis Guzman Hypes 'Wednesday' Season 2 While Promoting Action Movie Havoc
Image
Wednesday fans have been waiting patiently – or impatiently in many cases – for the second season of Tim Burton’s reworking of The Addams Family to bring Jenna Ortega’s take on the daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams back to Netflix. Now, the new season is only several months away – a lifetime, we know – but the hype around the new season has already started, and one person happy to buzz up Season 2 is star Luis Guzmán.

Guzmán follows Raul Julia and Tim Curry in taking on the role of The Addams Family patriarch Gomez, and in many ways his take on the character is much more in line with Charles Addams’ original comic strip character than any of his previous appearances. While speaking to MovieWeb’s George Edelman about his new movie, the Tom Hardy actioner Havoc, Guzmán shared a tease of Wednesday Season 2, noting that everyone is going to...

‘Havoc’ Director Has Heard Your Complaints Against Tom Hardy Shooting but Has a Genius Explanation for It
Image
The director of The Raid movies has come up with another action thriller, this time on Netflix. Tom Hardy’s Havoc is an out-and-out action thriller from Gareth Evans, with bullets flying all over the place. For the fans of such high-octane thrillers, Havoc is super exciting to watch. However, if you’re someone who’ll nit-pick every detail in a movie, you might be disappointed at some of the scenes.

While Evans knew that he would disappoint such moviegoers, he still proceeded to exaggerate the number of bullets flying. However, if you really need an explanation, Evans has a logic behind those scenes. The director couldn’t help but include those gunfight scenes, which are a clear influence of Hong Kong films and filmmakers like Johnnie To, John Woo, and Ringo Lam.

Gareth Evan knew fans would complain about Havoc’s gunfight scenes Tom Hardy as Patrick Walker in...

“They Went Into a Different Galaxy”: Luis Guzmán Promises a Bigger, Bolder 'Wednesday' Season 2
Image
The second season of Netflix's beloved horror series, Wednesday, is drawing ever closer to a premiere. In a recently released trailer, the world was introduced to some of Wednesday Addams' favorite things, and let's just say, it's good to have her back. The Netflix series will see the return of Jenna Ortega as the titular character, Wednesday, the daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams. The Tim Burton-created series was an instant success upon its debut in fall 2022, and now one of its returning stars is teasing what lies ahead in Season 2.

Luis Guzmán plays Wednesday's father, Gomez Addams, on the show and, since the story didn't unfurl in the Addams Family residence, it meant we saw less of the titular family. While Season 2 will return Wednesday to Nevermore Academy, Guzmán says there will be more Addams family in the coming season. Discussing what comes next when Season 2 arrives in the summer,...

Tom Hardy in Netflix’s ‘Havoc’: A Brutal Action Film by Gareth Evans
Image
Tom Hardy stars in “Havoc,” a highly anticipated, hyper-violent thriller from Netflix. The film bears the unmistakable mark of Gareth Evans, a filmmaker known for his visceral style and violent storytelling. “Havoc” certainly delivers on this front, offering an almost over-the-top choreography of violence in a story that moves relentlessly from one violent sequence to an even more violent one.

“Havoc” is all about atmosphere, pacing, noir aesthetics, and street violence. Its setting and style evoke memories of Sin City (2005), featuring characters seemingly driven by the film’s own aesthetic. Written and directed by Gareth Evans, the movie fully embraces his signature style: violence, atmosphere, and characters who exist primarily to fulfill their roles within the narrative.

That said, if you enjoy violent thrillers, it’s quite a spectacle.

‘Havoc’ Review: Gareth Evans’s Plodding Neo-Noir Is Nearly Redeemed by Its Killer Finish
Image
Gareth Evans’s Havoc has a setup as elementally simple as the filmmaker’s 2011 breakout The Raid: Redemption and its 2014 sequel: A grizzled detective, Walker (Tom Hardy), fights his way through a gang war in a city plagued by urban rot, along the way uncovering that the highest echelons of society have ties to the drug-peddling underworld. Along the way, he puts down one gangster after another in violent fashion.

It’s established immediately that Walker is a capable but crooked detective whose history of taking dirty money puts him at the mercy of higher-ups. One such figure, Lawrence Beaumont (Forest Whitaker), comes to Walker when word gets out that the politician’s son, Charlie (Justin Cornwell), is the chief suspect in a drug robbery gone bad and on the run from both police and cartel soldiers. “Don’t forget,” Beaumont growls, “I know what you did,” threatening to expose...

The thing that should have people most excited, however, is that season 2 looks to focus a little more on the Addams Family itself and not just its teen daughter.

Season 1 saw Wednesday spending...

'Havoc' Early Reactions Heap Praise on the Combined Action Forces of Tom Hardy & Gareth Evans
Image
After waiting patiently for four years, Tom Hardy is all set to wreak Havoc on Netflix this Friday. While we await the arrival of the highly anticipated action thriller, which sees Hardy join forces with The Raid director Gareth Evans, the first reactions to Havoc have now emerged. And, mercifully, it sounds like the wait will have been well worth it.

We begin with critic Zachary Lee, who heaps praise on the combined efforts of Hardy and Evans, declaring Havoc “muscular filmmaking at its finest” and highlighting one action scene in particular.

#Havoc: Gareth Evans & Tom Hardy show that we’ve only nicked the surface when it comes to depicting on-screen death. Muscular filmmaking at its finest, it’s relentlessly bleak but there’s a twisted catharsis in seeing how it crescendos in brutality. Best night club fight in ages.

The praise continues courtesy of The Globe and Mail's Barry Hertz,...

Rama’s Screen had a very positive reaction, saying, “Havoc was one of the craziest films I’ve seen this year. A relentless chaotic firepowered thrill ride. And Tom Hardy’s action endurance impressed the hell out of me. The shootouts & the ultra violence had no qualms about reaching the point of overkill. Absolutely insane! #Havoc”
