Steven Spielberg has an impressive portfolio of works in Hollywood. If fans get a closer look at his films, they can notice a pattern in them. Spielberg’s films are either great science fiction films or they’re set in the World War II period. The Jaws director once revealed the reason behind the recurring theme of World War 2 in his films.

June 6, 2024, marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion of the beaches of Normandy, France. Code-named Operation Overlord, it marked the largest amphibious invasion in military history and resulted in the defeat of German Nazi forces at Reims.
Some films portray the soldiers who set foot on the shores of Normandy, portrayed by actors including John Wayne, Tom Hanks, Mark Hamill, Lee Marvin, Matt Damon, Vin Diesel, Tom Sizemore, Ted Danson, Paul Giamatti and more. Others focus on Winston Churchill, who made the call for Britain to join the invasion. Two Churchill biopics, starring Brian Cox and Gary Oldman, came out in 2017 and depict the strenuous decision the prime minister made.
For those looking for TV shows about the operation, Band of Brothers starring Scott Grimes, Damian Lewis, Ron Livingston is a must-watch. HBO’s miniseries about Easy Company also features Andrew Scott, James McAvoy, Colin Hanks, Simon Pegg,...

Right now, it feels like NCIS and a couple of its spin-offs are on everyone's mind. The show, which passed the two-decade milestone, not only hasn't tired its viewers out, it's found two new offshoots to expand its universe and continue its battle with NBC's Law & Order for the longest-running procedural.
Of course, viewers' attention is now divided between NCIS: Origins, which will tell the origin story of Agent Gibbs, previously played by Mark Harmon, and NCIS: Tony & Ziva, which will follow the lives of two former agents after they escape to Europe.
However, the most loyal fans still remember how the franchise lost what could have been its best spin-off 11 years ago.
Why Was NCIS: Red Canceled?
Originally, NCIS: Red was not supposed to be a spin-off of the original NCIS series, but of NCIS: Los Angeles. Since NCIS has always been keen on creating more location-based...

Steven Spielberg arranged a military boot camp for his Band of Brothers actors just like he did with Saving Private Ryan and his brutal ‘Method’ tactics paid off. By the end of their training under Vietnam veteran Captain Dale Dye, the small group of actors formed a close bond like their real-life counterparts, the Easy Company’s paratroopers. However, they went through a lot of misery before Spielberg achieved what he wanted.

Seth Macfarlane’s foul mouthed Ted will be back for a second series. Here’s what we know about Ted season 2:
TV spin-off Ted, based on the Seth Macfarlane films of the same name, has proved so successful that Peacock has commissioned a second series. The motion capture means that the show is labour intensive and expensive to make – according to some estimates, the budget is pushing $10m an episode – so it could be a while before it hits the screen.
Ted (the TV series) is a prequel set in 1993 which follows the adventures of the titular bear (voiced by Macfarlane) and his 16 year-old best friend John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham).

In the great debate of Bear or Man, Peacock chooses Bear! After giving a green light to Seth MacFarlane’s Ted as an event series, the wise-cracking, weed-smoking bear, and undeniably lovable bastard son of Snuggle is bringing more comedy to the streaming network. Peacock is bumping Ted up to an ongoing show with MacFarlane reprising his role as the aforementioned stuffed bear that comes to life.

Peacock may be struggling on the revenue front, but that's not keeping it from bringing back one of its most successful shows for a second season.
At the beginning of 2024, Seth MacFarlane's "Ted" TV series (watch the trailer) became Peacock's most watched original series ever. On top of that, the streaming adaptation of the big screen comedy from the "Family Guy" creator actually took the #1 spot on the Original Streaming Comedy charts in the United States for over two months. But "Ted" was a massive hit outside of the U.S. too, making waves in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. That's more than enough for a second season of "Ted."
If you missed "Ted," here's the synopsis for the first season:

The “Ted” prequel series has been renewed for Season 2 at Peacock, Variety has learned.
Originally presented as an event series, the seven-episode first season of “Ted” debuted on the streamer in January. It serves as a prequel to the two “Ted” feature films, which were released in 2012 and 2015.
Per Peacock, the show became its most-watched original title to date and was also the top streaming comedy in the U.S. for more than two consecutive months, according to Nielsen data.
The series takes place in the early 1990s in Framingham, Mass. It follows the lives of Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) and his 16 year old best friend, John (Max Burkholder). Ted’s fame has waned and he is now once again living with John and his family.
The series also stars Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach as John’s parents, Matty and Susan, along with Giorgia Whigham as John’s cousin Blaire.

Seth MacFarlane and Peacock aren’t done with Ted yet.
The NBCUniversal-owned streamer has ordered a second season of the comedy, a prequel to the two feature films that have the MacFarlane-voiced living teddy bear at their center. Peacock originally billed Ted as an “event series,” but it will now be an ongoing show.
The renewal comes about four months after Ted premiered on Peacock to solid ratings in January. It was the top streaming comedy in the United States for about two months after its debut, and Peacock says the series is its most-watched original to date. It also put up strong showings in other countries, notably on Sky in the U.K., FOX8 and streaming service Binge in Australia and Showcase in Canada.

Peacock has given a second-season pickup to Ted, the prequel TV series to Seth MacFarlane’s Ted film franchise.
The seven-episode initial installment of Ted, released January 11, was billed as an event series. Its overwhelming ratings success, becoming Peacock’s most-watched original series to date and the No. 1 original streaming comedy in the U.S. for more than two consecutive months in the Nielsen rankings, naturally triggered a conversation about a second season.
Despite Ted‘s excellent performance, the renewal decision was not straightforward, I hear, as the comedy’s hybrid live-action/CGI nature makes it expensive to produce, and it also takes a long time to make.
Still, keeping its biggest hit was important to Peacock, and four months after the Season 1 drop, the streamer has ordered a second season.
Set in 1993, Ted comes from writer, director, executive producer and showrunner MacFarlane.

Christmas and Halloween reign supreme in terms of holiday-themed horror to the point that every other holiday pales in comparison when it comes to horror offerings. Easter does have a few selections to offer, but many of them don’t lean into any familiar holiday motifs. Then there are the horror films that get lumped in simply because the villain bears likeness to the Easter bunny. It can be slim pickings. That’s okay, though, because we really only need one solid horror movie to celebrate Easter with. One that isn’t afraid to spill some Easter bunny blood.
Critters 2: The Main Course is that definitive Easter horror movie.
Co-written by David Twohy (Warlock, Pitch Black) and director Mick Garris (The Stand, Masters of Horror), Critters 2 makes clever use of the holiday as a means to implement those remaining Crite eggs stashed away in a barn from the end of Critters.

This article contains spoilers for The Orville, Star Trek: The Original Series, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Featuring broad comedy and characters who don’t seem to be taking their jobs very seriously, the first trailer for The Orville suggested that the Fox series would be a spoof of Star Trek.
In said trailer, Captain Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) tries to eat a marble and asks an alien to move over so he is framed better in the viewscreen. Lt. Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes) drinks beer while on duty, flying a shuttle, at 9:15 a.m. Commander Kelly Grayson’s (Adrianne Palicki) former marriage to Mercer is treated to rather stale “comic” arguments about going to therapy. Mercer’s reaction to Lt. Commander Bortus’s (Peter Macon) species being entirely male is to observe, with truly cutting and original wit, that they probably don’t have many arguments about leaving the toilet seat up.

Seth MacFarlane’s Ted, the prequel series for the filmmaker’s 2012 comedy, has broken a streaming record since its Peacock debut. Knocking the stuffing out of other titles in the streamer’s library, Ted is officially the most-watched original title in Peacock’s history. Signs point to the NFL’s Super Wild Card Weekend boosting visibility for the series, as many subscribers signed on to the app to watch the gridiron action.
Peacock’s Ted prequel series hails from Family Guy and The Orville creator Seth MacFarlane, with Max Burkholder playing John Bennett, the role played by Mark Wahlberg in MacFarlane’s 2012 comedy.

Seth Macfarlane’s animated series Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, and American Dad have become as culturally significant as The Simpsons. With edgy humor and non sequitur galore, MacFarlane segued to the big screen with the fantasy comedy Ted starring Mark Wahlberg about a man-child and his teddy bear who has come alive. Full of gross-out humor and equal amounts of heartfelt comedy, Ted was a smash hit and spawned a sequel. Since then, MacFarlane has made A Million Ways To Die In The West and the more serious science fiction series The Orville. Now, MacFarlane is returning to Ted with a Peacock prequel series that blends the sitcom format of his animated shows with that same blend of crass and feel-good comedy that has become his trademark.

I was less than enthusiastic when I got the assignment to cover the prequel spin-off series of Ted instead of something avant-garde. Don’t get me wrong here; I do admire the original Ted film, which came out back in 2012. It was a pretty neat stoner-comedy (if you consider that a genre) about an adult man’s friendship with his talking teddy bear that was a decent entertainer. However, Ted 2 (2015), which had a wonky civil rights angle as its main plot, wasn’t quite able to yield the same magic for me. That was almost a decade ago. The idea of taking Ted and Johnny back to the nineties and making a seven-episode web series didn’t exactly look like a good prospect on paper, to be honest. Yeah, the adorable teddy bear talks like a man, and he has a fondness for profanity, but so what? That’s...

Seth MacFarlane’s Ted has made the leap to the small screen, and we’ve learned that the series will be broadcast on Sky Max in February.
Ted was Seth MacFarlane’s feature directorial debut, and it would be fair to say the film made quite an impact.
Released in 2012, it contained all the profane, puckish humour MacFarlane honed in his years showrunning Family Guy. The plot followed Mark Wahlberg as John, an ageing adolescent who spends his time drinking, getting high and pulling pranks with his best friend, the sentient stuffed toy Ted, while neglecting his relationship with Lori, played by Mila Kunis.
The sequel arrived in 2015 sans Kunis, and didn’t quite hit the same mark. But still: it made a good chunk of money, and that opened the door for a third Ted film. Nine years on, though, and there’s no sign of Ted 3. Instead, MacFarlane...

After two feature films, the hedonistic talking teddy bear voiced by Seth MacFarlane is back and hitting the books for a Peacock prequel series.
Currently streaming, Ted is a seven-episode series created by MacFarlane that sees the Family Guy honcho reprising his voice role as the title anthropomorphic stuffed animal who originated in Universal’s 2012 theatrical release of the same name and returned in a 2015 movie sequel. The show is a family-focused comedy set in 1993 that features John (Max Burkholder), the younger version of the character Mark Wahlberg plays in the films, teaming up with Ted as they attempt to make it through high school. Rounding out the show’s cast as John’s kin are Scott Grimes, Alanna Ubach and Giorgia Whigham.

Kids have always talked to their stuffed animals. In Ted, the bawdy teddy bear fantasy that has yielded two R-rated movies and now a new prequel series on Peacock, the furry beast talks back, often in a four-letter flourish, always with the delivery of some out-of-time Boston vaudevillian. He also hits the bong, throws back shots, drives drunk, watches porn, and generally behaves like a teenage troublemaker. Creator (and Ted voice) Seth MacFarlane clearly finds it all funny, having continually returned to this particular well. The thing is, in this case,...

It's been over 10 years since "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane made the jump to the big screen with his feature directorial and writing debut "Ted." In the 2012 comedy, Mark Wahlberg played John Bennett, a grown man stuck in a state of arrested development with his girlfriend Lori (Mila Kunis), because he can't stop smoking weed and screwing around with his best friend, a foul-mouthed teddy bear named Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) that he magically wished to life when he was just a boy.
Of course, by the end of the movie, John realizes that he needs to grow up and become a bit more responsible and salvages his relationship with Lori. However, in 2015, "Ted 2" undid their happy ending, revealing that John and Lori got divorced six months prior to the start of the sequel, and the follow-up focused on Ted's battle in court for the right to have...

“In 1985, Ted was an instant worldwide phenomenon,” Ian McKellen says, as voiceover for the opening moments of “Ted” the series. “But now it’s 1993 and, like every phenomenon, eventually nobody gives a shit.”
The button, flawlessly emphasized by the opening credits’ peppy melody, works better as a meta confession than a framing device (and I do believe it’s meant to be both). Peacock’s prequel series is not about Seth MacFarlane’s talking teddy bear on a quest for fame, purpose, or, well, much of anything really. Instead, McKellen — who replaces his “X-Men” bestie Patrick Stewart as “Ted’s” narrator — is merely acknowledging Ted’s fading relevancy (and thus “Ted’s” fading relevancy) while providing a mea culpa for what’s about to happen. Rather than attempt to revive a hugely profitable franchise, “Ted” the series is an apathetic regression — a functional yet wholly uninspired continuation that can...

Plot: In this comedic prequel event series to the Ted films, it’s 1993, and Ted the bear’s moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett, along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan and cousin Blaire. Review: Seth MacFarlane is an acquired taste. Family Guy is the type of series that you either love or hate. Your favorite foul-mouthed bear is back — this time in a TV series. A Peacock prequel series to the hit movie franchise of a similar, yet differently capitalized, name premieres on Thursday, Jan. 11. This new show from the mind of Seth MacFarlane, simply called “ted,” takes place in 1993, where Ted the Bear — his 15 minutes of fame now behind him — is living at home with his best-friend, 16-year-old John Bennett. You can guess what kind of hijinks they’ll get up to, but at the end of the day, Ted is still the loyal (and hilariously vulgar) friend that we’ve always known him to be. You can watch ted with a subscription to Peacock.

The bad news about Peacock’s Ted prequel, also called Ted, is that all of its worst instincts are apparent from the jump. For one thing, its premiere clocks in at 50 minutes — not inherently an unreasonable run time, but a baffling one for a TV outing that otherwise unfolds like a half-hour sitcom. For another, that near-hour is front-loaded with the show’s most self-consciously “offensive” material: hoary jokes about derogatory terms and racist stereotypes, all delivered with a smirk that’s daring you, just daring you, to get outraged by any of it.
But if you can push past the initial tedium, the good (or at least less bad) news about Ted is that the episodes that follow represent a marked improvement. Sometimes, as when it leans on absurdity over abrasiveness or goofiness over saltiness, it’s possible to make out a decent comedy buried in there somewhere. If...

It’s been well over a year since the third season of Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville concluded, but fans have been left in limbo regarding the fate of the series. Will The Orville return or has it been canceled? We still don’t know, but according to MacFarlane, the series isn’t dead yet.
“I’m trying to remember what the exact, well-worded politic statement was that Hulu put out…,” MacFarlane told TVLine. “All I can say is the same thing that Hulu said, which is the show is not dead. Nobody has told me that it’s dead from the network, so we’re proceeding under those auspices.“
For the record, Craig Erwich, President of ABC Entertainment and Hulu & Disney Branded Television Streaming Originals, said this about the possibility of The Orville season 4 last January: “We don’t have anything to share right now. It’s a great...

Max Burkholder, star of the new Ted streaming series on Peacock, admitted he was not able to talk with Mark Wahlberg ahead of filming the series.
In 2021, Peacock announced a straight-to-series order for Ted. While based on the original Mark Wahlberg 2012 movie (and its 2015 sequel), none of the original cast would be returning—aside from Seth MacFarlane as the voice of the crude living titular Teddy Bear.
Instead of Wahlberg, Burkholder was brought aboard to embody a younger, high school-aged 1993 version of John Bennett. He is joined by a cast including Scott Grimes, Giorgia Whigham, Alanna Ubach, and more.

It’s a brand new year, and Deep Cuts Rising is back to spotlight less talked about horror movies. The first installment of 2024 features selections reflecting the month of January.
Regardless of how they came to be here, or what they’re about, these past movies can generally be considered overlooked, forgotten or unknown.
This month’s offerings feature zombies, a killer New Year’s party and more.
Knife of Ice (1972)
Image: All but too late, Ida Galli (as Evelyn Stewart) spots the knife-wielding killer behind her in Knife of Ice.
Directed by Umberto Lenzi.
Giallo fans have designated both January and July as months for celebrating the genre. So it’s a great time to get acquainted with these stylish mysteries. Novices will naturally be drawn to the more popular and acclaimed filmmakers that gialli have to offer — Dario Argento, Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci — but others like Umberto Lenzi shouldn’t be disregarded.

The official trailer confirms Ted’s behavior and language haven’t been cleaned up for the streaming service’s series. No, this is the same trash-talking stuffed bear audiences loved in the 2012 and 2015 movies.
