Oy with the poodles already—here we go again. Just when we thought we’d had our last cup of coffee at Luke’s, the Gilmore Girls fandom is buzzing louder than Kirk’s latest side hustle. It’s been almost a decade since A Year in the Life dropped like a surprise pop quiz, and ever since, fans have been dreaming of one more ride through Stars Hollow—with snow, sass, and a side of unresolved mother-daughter drama.
I started rewatching Gilmore Girls to escape the chaos of 2025. I wanted snow-covered streets, pop culture references at lightning speed, and people who talk faster than my Wi-Fi. But plot twist—it brought me right back, fast-talking and all. As we dream of snow in Connecticut and Luke’s diner coffee, Amy spilling tea about how the series finale drove a stake through its heart.

Grammy winner Lainey Wilson is set to make her feature film acting debut in Universal’s adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestseller “Reminders of Him.”
Wilson joins a cast that includes Maika Monroe, Tyriq Withers, Rudy Pankow, Lauren Graham, Bradley Whitford and Nicholas Duvernay.
The country superstar already has a relationship with Universal after she contributed the original song “Out of Oklahoma” to last year’s blockbuster “Twisters.” The track was nominated for multiple awards, including by the Guild of Music Supervisors and the Society of Composers and Lyricists. To note, this isn’t Wilson’s first time acting. She appeared in a recurring role on “Yellowstone,” playing Abby, a musician, beginning in Season 5. Taylor Sheridan created the role specifically for Wilson after the smash hit series first began featuring her music in Season 2. Wilson,...

Sundance didn’t have the plethora of late night bidding wars we used to see in the good old days of the festival, but a number of buzziest titles are actually closing deals late into the spring and into the early summer. Over 60 films came into this year’s Sundance looking for homes, and slowly but surely a number of those are finding homes. As we previously reported, the hope was that even more distributors could get creative.
Below we’ll update all the acquisitions following the festival as they arrive.

The mystery-drama comedy Desperate Housewives ran for eight seasons on ABC from 2004 until 2012, but it continued to have a loyal fandom even after its ending. That's why the series is now getting a spin-off.
The dramedy series was set on Wisteria Lane, a street in the fictional town of Fairview in the fictional Eagle State. Desperate Housewives followed the lives of four women, covering their lives across fifteen years. Deadline reveals that the new offshoot series will be titled Wisteria Lane, and will welcome new residents on the same street.
The new spin-off series is a reimagining of the ABC hit, and is in development at Onyx Collective. The upcoming Wisteria Lane comes from Scandal's Kerry Washington's Simpson Street, and 20th Television. Desperate Housewives creator/executive producer Marc Cherry is not involved in the pitch, but might be involved in the series in the future.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the WB series Gilmore Girls. The early aughts dramedy ran for seven seasons and launched the careers of many, including Melissa McCarthy, Lauren Graham, and Sean Gunn. The ensemble case of the Amy Sherman-Palladino show is memorable, even a quarter of a century later. Now, 25 years later, Sherman-Palladino has launched yet another new show with her husband Daniel Palladino, Étoile. The ballet-centered show features two companies swapping dancers internationally. Another ensemble show for the Palladinos also features some Gilmore Girls alums. This includes Yanic Truesdale, who played Michele Gerard on Gilmore Girls and plays Raphael inÉtoile. In an interview with People, Truesdale broke down what it was like working on an Asp show again.
"We're all older," Truesdale said. "We were kids! That's a big difference, because you're not the same person. I was 28. Amy was early 30s. So, we were still trying...

Colleen Hoover is one of the most popular contemporary romance authors, rising to fame thanks to novels like Ugly Love, Confess, and Slam. However, Hoover's popularity skyrocketed in 2024 with the release of It Ends With Us, the adaptation of her bestselling 2016 novel.
Although It Ends With Us ended up being a widely controversial project because of the legal battle between director, producer, and star Justin Baldoni and lead actress Blake Lively, the movie was a box office hit. The film received mixed reviews from the critics, but the audience enjoyed it and grossed $349.7 million at the worldwide box office against a modest $25 million budget. More adaptations are on the way, and Deadline revealed that Universal's adaptation of Reminders of Him has just added Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham to the cast.

There's a new Mighty Ducks movie just waiting to be made by the original star, too! Too bad Disney doesn't want to make it!
The Mighty Ducks may be one of the odder franchises in Disney history. It all started with 1992's movie of the same name starring Emilio Estevez as Gordon Bombay, a cocky hotshot lawyer. After a DUI arrest, Gordon is forced to do community service coaching a junior hockey league.
Gordon hates this as he's loathed hockey ever since he failed to score a winning goal in a championship game when he was a kid. It's not helped that the team (who he nicknames the Ducks) is the worst in the league.
Slowly but surely, Gordon builds these misfits (which included a young Joshua Jackson) into a team that ends up winning the championship. Released in October of 1992, the movie turned into a sleeper success with a...

Emilio Estevez has revealed that he wanted to reprise his role as Coach Gordon Bombay for a fourth feature film in The Mighty Ducks series, but the franchise seemingly got benched after The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. The actor, who headlined the original 1992 sports movie and picked up his hockey sticks for two more film sequels, in addition to the first season of the aforementioned Disney+ series in 2021, has admitted that he was game for a return and even wrote a script for The Mighty Ducks 4, but Disney iced it out.
Estevez spoke candidly about the status of The Mighty Ducks franchise during a recent appearance on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast. He explained that he wrote a spec script for another feature film in the franchise to "make up" for the "disasters" of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, which he exited before the second season. "Never say never," Gilmore Girls fans. That's the advice from Warner Bros. exec Channing Dungeyin an interview with Deadline. The hit WB series celebrates 25 years this year, and as for plans for another revival, nothing has been announced. But, as Dungey says, "we’re excited to be commemorating the milestone." The series, ever beloved, already had a reunion of sorts in the form of a Walmart Holiday commercial late last year. Lauren Graham, Scott Patterson, and Sean Gunn all appeared in the commercial. This only fueled the fire ahead of the show's 25th anniversary. The series, which ran from 2000-2007 already has a four-part revival. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, debuted on Netflix in 2016 to mixed fan reaction, but could the "never say never" mean more could be on the horizon?

Amy Sherman-Palladino created Gilmore Girls and co-produced it with her husband Daniel Palladino, and now, they’re responding to some of the constant talk from fans that the show should be rebooted in some way!
The series starred Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as a mother-daughter duo as they navigated life in their small town of Star’s Hollow, Connecticut.

When asked about a possible revival, Amy told Variety, “It would be delightful [to do another revival]. We love the actors, we love the world, we love writing those characters. The time just has to be right. It’s alchemy.”

When you ask a Gilmore Girls fan what the show's biggest mistake was, or what the worst storyline was, you will hear some variation of the following: Lorelai getting married to Christopher, Rory leaving Yale and fighting with Lorelai, Rory sleeping with Dean when he was still married, the entire final season, or the reveal that Luke had a secret daughter he never knew existed.
Those are all valid complaints to lodge against the series, so much so that any time Lauren Graham is asked about Lorelai and Christopher getting married, she hardly remembers that happening. But I think if we polled the whole of the fandom, the consensus would be that the Gilmore Girls moment that drives us collectively crazy the most is the introduction of April Nardini.

“Twinless,” a twisted comedic drama about twinless twins, is in final negotiations to sell to Roadside Attractions, Lionsgate and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions. The film earned rave reviews after debuting at this year’s Sundance, where it won both the festival’s audience award and best performance award for Dylan O’Brien.
O’Brien, of “Maze Runner,” “Teen Wolf” and “Saturday Night” fame, stars in “Twinless” with James Sweeney, who also wrote, directed and produced the film. O’Brien plays identical brothers, one of whom meets Sweeney’s character in a support group for people who lost a twin. Aisling Franciosi, Lauren Graham, Tasha Smith, Chris Perfetti, François Arnaud, Susan Park and Cree Cicchino round out the cast.
If the deal closes, “Twinless” is expected to be released theatrically later this summer in the U.S. by Roadside Attractions, while Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions will distribute internationally.

When you think of Gilmore Girls, a few things come to mind: coffee, Lorelai and Rory, maybe Yale or Chilton, and Friday Night Dinners. The concept of Friday Night Dinners was introduced as part of the deal that Lorelai (Lauren Graham) made with her parents, Richard (Ed Herrmann) and Emily (Kelly Bishop), for them to help pay for Rory's (Alexis Bledel) private school tuition. Emily tells Lorelai in the pilot that, in addition to having a financial role in their lives, she wanted an active role. And thus, Friday Night Dinners were born. Throughout seven seasons, almost every episode featured one of these dinner scenes.

There are great pop culture debates that can divide a fandom. Unfortunately, it usually involves an iconic ship or two associated with television shows. When it comes to the 2000s WB show, Gilmore Girls, the big debate has always been who of the three main boyfriends that Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) has is best. Cast and fans alike have weighed in on the "boyfriend debate" over the years. The three boyfriends in question are Dean Forrester (Jared Padalecki), Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia), and Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry).
The three were vastly different from one another. Dean was the hometown good ole boy, tall and handsome, very much the archetype of a first boyfriend for Rory. Jess was the bad boy that made her question everything, but shared her taste in books and music and pushed her, sometimes too much. Logan was her college boyfriend and the pair had an unorthodox...

Even if an actor stays with a show from the pilot to the finale, there's bound to be episodes or even entire plotlines that they don't agree with. When Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham appeared on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, the Lorelai Gilmore actress revealed the one plotline she struggled to get behind. "There’s a year when Alexis [Bledel] and I — Rory and Lorelai — are in a fight for a long time and we would talk about it, and Amy [Sherman-Palladino] was like, 'You know you can’t do a show for this long and not have conflict.'" The plotline in question took place at the end of Season 5 and lasted through part of Season 6 but for fans who had watched the "freakishly close" mother-daughter duo, the moments leading up to their eventual reconciliation felt like an eternity. Graham goes on to say:

Lauren Graham has revealed which Gilmore Girls storyline she wasn’t the biggest fan of during her time on the dramedy.
The actress who played the beloved Lorelai Gilmore on the hit show, which ran for seven seasons from 2000-07, was the latest guest on the Call Her Daddy podcast. At one point, host Alex Cooper asked which storyline from the series “was a little hard for you to get behind.”

We all have one show that, if given the chance, we'd ask for it not to be cancelled. For longtime fans of Gilmore Girls and Amy Sherman-Palladino, that show tends to be Bunheads. The show ran for a singular season from 2012-2013 when everyone was still reeling from the conclusion of Gilmore Girls five years prior. While many fans knew that it would be unlikely to have the same spirit as Gilmore Girls, with star Lauren Graham on Parenthood and her being such a huge part of Gilmore Girls' success, fans were hungry for Asp's next project. She'd left Gilmore Girls at the end of Season 6, resulting in a mixed bag of fan feelings for Season 7.

Juggling character development in an ensemble cast is a major undertaking. When it came to the hit WB show Gilmore Girls, the focus was of course, on Lauren Graham's Lorelai Gilmore and Alexis Bledel's Rory Gilmore. The mother-daughter dynamic was the main driving force of the Amy Sherman Palladino-created show, but there were also moments with Lorelai and Rory's extended family that fans got to see grow and develop over the course of seven seasons. Lorelai had a complicated relationship with her parents after running away with a newborn Rory when she was just a teenager. Played by Kelly Bishop and Ed Herrmann, Emily and Richard Gilmore re-entered Lorelai's life when she needed money for Rory's private school tuition.
Initially flat, stuck-up characters, Emily and Richard also grew tremendously across seven seasons, along with their relationships with both Lorelai and Rory. When speaking with Collider's Taylor Gates at PaleyFest,...

The worlds of Gilmore Girls, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Étoile collided on Saturday night as PaleyFest LA hosted a celebration of creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.
The event, dubbed a toast to “The Amy Sherman-Palladino Multiverse,” welcomed Lauren Graham and Kelly Bishop from Gilmore Girls; Rachel Brosnahan, Alex Borstein and Luke Kirby from Maisel; and Charlotte Gainsbourg and Lou de Laâge from new series Étoile, in which Kirby also stars. Sherman-Palladino and her husband/writing partner Daniel Palladino joined the actors at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre for a 90-minute reflection on the writer-producer’s stacked resumé.
The conversation began with Sherman-Palladino’s past as a dancer, the start of her writing career on Roseanne — as she deadpanned, “Roseanne was an extraordinarily special show at the time. First of all [Roseanne Barr] was only her first version of crazy; it’s very different now” — and the origin story of both her personal and professional relationship with Palladino.

The hit WB series has been on the streamer for more than 10 years, ready for fans both old and new to head to Stars Hollow, Connecticut and watch Lorelail Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) live out the tagline "Life's short. Talk fast." Fans would be surprised however, to find out that such even with such a long time on the streamer, the cast does not rake in the dough from the countless binge-watches. Graham, who played the lead role, says that she receives "no residuals" from the hit series. She tells Jimmy Kimmel on the talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live that's in spite of the fact that "We have definitely reached more people than we were reaching on The WB." Graham goes on to say "There really are no residuals on Netflix. But I’ve been paid in love.

Gilmore Girls premiered in 2000 and ran for seven seasons on The WB and later The CW. The comedy-drama series' popularity has continued long after its series finale, as longtime fans see it as a comfort show, as well as new people discover it on streaming.
Gilmore Girls later received a limited series revival in 2016 on Netflix with the four-part Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Netflix has had the original series on the platform since 2014. However, in a new appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, lead star Lauren Graham revealed she doesn't get any residuals from Netflix for the show.
Asked if she gets tired of talking about it, the actress shared, "I'm not sick of talking about it at all." As Kimmel pointed out that this year marks Gilmore Girls' 25th anniversary, he also highlighted that the show is even more popular now than it was in the past.

“Gilmore Girls” has proven to be one of the prime broadcast network series to have achieved extended life on streaming, even receiving a Netflix revival season “A Year in the Life” in 2016. However, that digital popularity hasn’t necessarily seen extensive compensation for the series cast, as star Lauren Graham explained on a “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” appearance Wednesday evening.
“There really are no residuals on Netflix. Sorry! But I’ve been paid in love,” Graham explained when asked about the matter by Kimmel. “We have definitely reached more people than we were reaching on The WB. … Now it’s trickled into younger people, older people, men whose kids or wives probably have forced them to watch it. I get stopped a lot. It surprises me every time though. I don’t know why.”
