One cinematic medium that has continued far-reaching appeal spanning age groups and cultures is animated movies. Animation consistently performs well worldwide, often buoyed by its family-friendly sense of humor, universal messaging, and visually impressive art design. In addition to being a hit with critics, animated films regularly find themselves as the highest-earning movies of a given year, particularly when produced and marketed by larger studios. This has led to lucrative box office runs, sometimes breaking records set by their live-action counterparts.
Many of the highest-grossing films of all time are animated, and many of these major earners were released within the past decade, at least in nominal earnings. With that in mind, we've assembled over a dozen of the highest-earning animated films to date. To clarify, this list includes earners without adjusting for inflation and drawing from cumulative global box office grosses.

Once Upon a Time successfully reimagined many popular fairy tales over its run on ABC, earning a very devoted fan base over seven seasons. Fans have been interested in a reboot or revival of the show since it ended -- and one of the series' main cast members is ready and willing to go back.
While making an appearance at Disney Upfronts, Ginnifer Goodwin -- who played Snow White / Mary Margaret Blanchard for Ouat's first six seasons -- told The Hollywood Reporter that she'd be up for a reboot. "Absolutely," Goodwin replied when asked if she'd be interested in reprising her role again.

The fairest of them all has spoken! Ginnifer Goodwin who played the beloved Snow White on ABC series Once Upon a Time attended the 2025 Disney Upfronts recently, and was asked about whether she'd be interested in reprising her role for a reboot of the magical series. And she's definitely on board! Here's what she had to say to The Hollywood Reporter:
"My whole real life is because of Once Upon a Time. It was one of the jobs of my life and I met my husband and I had my children because of that. And Snow White's very close to my heart. I think I'm here because of that show. But I would kill to go back, to revisit that. Absolutely."

Peyton and Eli Manning really want to develop their acting careers, if Disney’s upfront show is to be believed.
The Mouse House highlighted its sports programming more than anything else during its annual presentation to ad buyers Tuesday in New York City, parading the Mannings and several other star athletes in front of ad buyers and even connecting scripted Disney content back to what happens on the court and field.
The presentation opened with a marching band performance that lasted for more than five minutes, made up of musicians from Jackson State and Delaware State plus a gameday-ready Mickey Mouse as drum major. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley were next to take the stage at New York’s Javits Center, with Mahomes praising the “boldly original, fiercely competitive, undoubtedly magical” storytelling that makes Disney “the ultimate M.V.P.” before introducing Iger.

Twelve months ago, Disney, fighting for space at the TV Upfronts against both Netflix and Amazon for the first time, flexed its muscles with over 150 stars including Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds.
The Mouse House also had CEO Bob Iger, appearing for the first time in 30 years, highlighting the “radical changes that have transformed the business over the last three decades”.
Iger evidently enjoyed himself last year as he was back on stage with an introduction from Super Bowl winners Patrick Mahomes and Saquon Barkley. “I’ve not seen you since you won the Super Bowl,” he said to the Eagles running back.
Iger kept things brief, pointing out that it had been a “whirlwind few days for our company” with the launch of a theme park in Abu Dhabi – its seventh theme park around the world, as well as news about the new ESPN streaming service.

Over the years, there have been several animated films made by Disney, but not all of them have ended up charming the audiences. While the original classics occupy a special place in fans’ hearts, there are a few modern ones that are almost just as good and Zootopia is one among them.
Released almost a decade ago, the animated classic captured hearts worldwide, delivering a fresh and imaginative world where anthropomorphic animals navigated a bustling metropolis. Filled with regular old Disney charm with the perfect addition of humor, adventure, and social commentary, the animated film even won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

Recently, Disney had the biggest flop of the year (so far) with their misbegotten take on Snow White. Many believe the reason the movie failed had more to do with the disastrous press run up to its release, particularly the outspokenness of star Rachel Zegler, who seemed to throw the classic story under the bus while promising the movie would be modernized. It wasn’t really – but over a decade ago, a truly modern, fresh redux of the Snow White legend actually was made. It was called Once Upon A Time and ran for six years.
The show starred Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, the long-lost daughter of Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas). In this new take on the classic fairy tale, Snow White, Prince Charming and other classic characters have had their memories erased by the evil queen (Lana Parrilla), who transports them all to a small town called Storybook,...

Disney’s Smartest Animated Film In Years(Photo Credit –Hotstar)
When Zootopia hit theaters in 2016, it wasn’t just another talking animal movie, it was a surprise hit that made everyone wonder, “Wait, this movie’s that good?” Disney, usually known for its princesses and talking toys, threw us a curveball with a clever, fast-paced crime story set in a city full of anthropomorphic animals. Suddenly, the world was obsessed with Judy Hopps’ determination and Nick Wilde’s charm.
But what really made Zootopia stand out wasn’t just the quirky characters or the slick animation, it was the surprising depth. From social commentary on prejudice to a subtle wink at political correctness, this movie wasn’t just for kids. It was smart, sharp, and somehow managed to be both hilarious and thought-provoking. While it didn’t have the iconic status of other Disney giants, Zootopia quietly became a cultural phenomenon.

Walt Disney Studios thrilled attendees at CinemaCon 2025 with exclusive looks at its upcoming slate of releases, including one of the company's most sought-after sequels: Zootopia 2. Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan took to the stage to unveil two clips and some first-look images from the long-awaited sequel to Disney's hit 2016 movie. He voices a character named Gary De'Snake in the animated feature, who is described as "a venomous-but-lovable pit viper" and one that is sure to slither away from any scuffles that Detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde find themselves in.
The footage, shown during the Walt Disney Studios presentation on Thursday, which was attended by Variety, revealed that Judy and Nick might have more problems on their paws than usual, as the dynamic duo are now attending group therapy for seemingly mismatched police partners. Among them are "an elephant who keeps getting terrified of the mouse who shares a...

Plucky bunny cop Judy Hopps and her erstwhile foil, now partner, fox Nick Wilde got some prime screen time during Disney’s CinemaCon presentation today as a pair of clips were shown from Zootopia 2. The sequel to 2016’s Oscar-winning $1B+ grosser is due for release in the Thanksgiving corridor this year.
The first movie followed Judy (Ginnifer Goodwin) as a rookie cop who teams up with con artist Nick (Jason Bateman) to uncover a conspiracy in a titular metropolis of anthropomorphic animals.
New cast member Ke Huy Quan was on hand to introduce the fresh Zootopia 2 footage. He joins the follow-up as a snake named Gary, the impetus for Judy and Nick’s next case.
This portion of the show was introduced in voice-over by Bateman as Nick, who referred to CinemaCon as “ZinemaCon, Celebrating the Animal Experience” before Quan took the stage.

Things are about to get pretty hairy…or should we say furry?
During The Walt Disney Studios presentation at CinemaCon 2025, further details were revealed about the highly anticipated upcoming sequel “Zootopia 2.” Narrating an animated video shown to the crowd, the film’s main voice lead, Jason Bateman had some fun with Disney’s offerings, renaming their entire slate with animal puns like “Thundercolts” (“Thunderbolts”), “Sealio,” (“Elio”), and “Fantastic Fur” (“Fantastic Four: First Steps”).
Taking the stage, Academy Award-winner Ke Huy Quan was present to unveil the first footage for the sequel, having previously been announced as joining the cast during the D23 Expo in August 2024. “Zootopia 2” will introduce the world of reptiles, in which Quan plays a snake named Gary who Bateman’s Nick and Ginnifer Goodwin’s Judy are after. He’s the first of his species to enter Zootopia and his presence sets the sequel’s plot in motion.

Detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are feeling the strain of cracking one too many cases together.
And, in new footage that Disney premiered for “Zootopia 2” at CinemaCon, that’s sent them to partners therapy. It’s overseen by a quokka named Dr. Fuzzbee and filled with mismatched cops, such as an elephant who keeps getting terrified of the mouse who shares a squad car, or the deer who keeps fighting with a skunk. Hopps, for those who may have forgotten, is a rabbit and Wilde is a fox.
Disney also shared a scene where Hopps and Wilde go on holiday to a marsh resort, filled with hippos going down waterslides and a juggling seal — whoops, make that sea lion!

Tangled is one of the most popular and beloved recent Disney movies. Which naturally led to a need for a live-action version.
Disney is known for its beloved animated Disney Princesses, which include both classic characters like Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, and Ariel, but also newcomers like Merida, Tiana, Moana, Raya, and Rapunzel. The latter got her own movie with the beloved 2010 animation Tangled. Disney was already working on developing a live-action version, but, per The Hollywood Reporter, the plans for the live-action Tangled are now paused amid its Snow White headaches.
There were conversations about the adaptation, but Disney confirmed the Tangled live-action remake in December 2024. Michael Gracey, who helmed critically acclaimed productions like The Greatest Showman and the Robbie Williams biopic Better Man, was in talks to direct. Jennifer Kayton Robinson, who helms the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel, wrote the draft for the script.

2025 sees two Disney live-action remakes hit theaters, Snow White and Lilo & Stitch. It also means it has been 15 years since Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland kicked off this trend that has dominated the box office despite audiences and critics deriving it. For a decade now, audiences have seen films from Disney's classic era(Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio) and Renaissance get the live-action treatment to mixed results. However, right at the cusp of this Disney remake era, an ABC series put its own unique spin on many of Disney's classic canon and did it better than most of the live-action films that had triple the budget. We are, of course, talking about Once Upon a Time.
Once Upon a Time debuted on ABC in October 2011, a little over a year after Alice in Wonderland, and concluded in May 2018, between the $1 billion releases of Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. Since then,...

Animated movies can effectively be used to tell heartwarming stories through relatable characters, and Disney’s Zootopia did it in 2016 when it created a rich and detailed world of anthropomorphic animals in relatable roles. Now, after almost a decade, fans are excited about Zootopia 2.

Disney Cancels the Sequel to 1 of the Best Animated Movies of the 2000s After 5 Years of Development

The Princess and the Frog sequel series has been scrapped at Disney+. Titled Tiana, the streaming exclusive would have brought back Anika Noni Rose as the voice of Disney's first Black princess, Tiana.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney Animation Studios has officially pulled the plug on Tiana as it abandons making original long-form content for Disney+. Sources close to the project revealed that despite best efforts, including several changes to the creative team, the animation studio couldn't get Tiana where it needed to be given its budget. The decision to scrap Tiana in its entirety comes as a bit of a surprise, given that Disney recently found success at the box office with Moana 2, which was announced alongside Tiana back in 2020 as a Disney+ series before ultimately being reworked into a feature-length animated sequel.

It's no secret that Disney had a lot to be thankful for in 2024. Not only were Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine the two highest-grossing films of last year, but Moana 2 was a close third. Premiering on Nov. 27, 2024, the hit sequel managed to take in over $1 billion dollars at the box office, and now, after nearly three months, it's finally been announced that the animated smash featuring the voice talents of Dwayne Johnson and Auliʻi Cravalho will make its streaming premiere on Disney+ on March 12, 2025.
The news of Moana 2's streaming release comes via The Wrap, which astutely points out that the date of March 12 is just in time for spring break in many school districts, meaning families who don't already own a digital copy of the film will be able to turn on Disney+ and sing such songs as "Can I Get a Chee Hoo" over and over again.

The Stay in LA campaign, a call to keep more production in the city, has hit 20,000 signatures with high-profile stars including Andy Garcia and Marisa Tomei joining the call alongside filmmakers including Jonathan Nolan and Paul Feig.
This comes after a week of awards season events where the likes of Hacks co-creator Paul W. Downs and DGA President Lesli Linka Glatter stumped for the campaign at high-profile shindigs.
As Hacks, which shoots in locations including Altadena, won best comedy series at the Critics Choice Awards, Downs said that “we need to ask to shoot our shows in LA” and the “people in the room have the power to make it happen”, while Linka Glatter, who lost her home in the wildfires, urged directors to “insist that your projects are shot where they are set”.

Since opening in 1998, the Animal Kingdom, like any Disney park, has changed a lot. We’ve seen scores of additions like the Asia and Pandora expansions, new rides, and a big shift being planned, transforming Dinoland USA into an Encanto/Indiana Jones land.
Now, Disney has confirmed the final dates for one of the last Opening Day Dak attractions. Per Wdw’s own site, March 17 will be the final day to catch It’s Tough to Be a Bug at the park.

Released in 2011, Something Borrowed was a rom-com adaptation of the bestselling 2004 novel of the same name written by author Emily Giffin. Directed by Luke Greenfield and starring Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin, Colin Egglesfield, and John Krasinski, Something Borrowed tells the story of a woman named Rachel (Goodwin) who ends up sleeping with her best friend's fiancé on her 30th birthday, which starts an affair. It's an enchanting film covering the messiness of friendship and love, and it ends with the words, "To Be Continued...", leading many to believe Something Borrowed 2 would soon follow.
It's always nerve-wracking when a film ends on a cliffhanger with plans for a sequel, given that there is no guarantee that a follow-up will ever be made. For Something Borrowed, it felt like a sequel would actually happen, especially since there is a second book to pull from, titled Something Blue (2005). Emily Giffin even wrote the screenplay for Something Borrowed,...

Once Upon a Time was a host for many classic stories and characters over its seven-season run, but some of these characters were repeated and re-used throughout the series, such as Rapunzel, Jack, and Hansel and Gretel. During its run, the show also introduced two different variations of Cinderella. The first variation is played by Jessy Schram and appears in four episodes across the first six seasons of the show. She was a more stereotypical version of the princess, with the blue dress, the blonde hair, the big ball and the glass slippers.
The second variation of Cinderella (Dania Ramirez) was written as the new main princess for Once Upon A Time's final season, which was a soft reboot. She is a lot more hardcore, demonstrating strong skills in fighting and self-defense. In her first scene, she punches Henry (Andrew J. West) in the face and steals his motorcycle. She...

Once Upon a Time star Colin O’Donoghue addresses the possibility and whether he'd reprise the role of Hook. The popular ABC fantasy drama that ran from October 2011 to May 2018, expanding into comic books, novels, and even a short-lived spinoff. The show's longevity stems from its ability to blend the real world with something a little more mystical and magical, leading to questions about whether that approach could be applied to another revival or follow-up project.
In an interview on the I've Never Said This Before with Tommy Didario podcast, O’Donoghue talked about the chances of a Once Upon a Time spinoff. The actor acknowledged that the fantasy drama still had a devoted audience, though he noted that the ultimate decision about a revival would come down to Disney — which owns ABC. In the quote below, O’Donoghue also touches on whether he'd return as Hook:

“Dead to Me” creator Liz Feldman is back with another addictive dark comedy on Netflix, “No Good Deed.” Starring comedy TV greats Lisa Kudrow (“Friends”) and Ray Romano (“Everybody Loves Raymond”) as a married couple seeking to sell their gorgeous LA home after the death of their son. But as strangers flood through their home, they open the door to more than prospective buyers, dredging up scandal and secrets in the process.
It’s a quick binge-watch, which means you might wind up craving more suburban thrills before you know it. Not to worry, here’s a curated list of shows like “No Good Deed” to watch next.
Netflix ‘Dead to Me’
Naturally, Liz Feldman’s first Netflix series is a must-watch for fans of her new one. You’ll find a lot of tonal similarities between the two, though “Dead to Me” is more about friendship, less about marriage.

2023 had several great movies to offer audiences in a diverse range of genres, but fans would always remember the year for an iconic clash. Greta Gerwig’s Barbie competed with Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece Oppenheimer, making movie-goers go wild with the Barbenheimer phenomenon.
Something similar could have happened the following year when two popular IPs’ sequels were supposed to be released on the same day. Ariana Grande’s Wicked stirred both musical and non-musical lovers and a similar response is expected of its sequel, Wicked Part Two, to be released in November 2025. But its previous release date clashed with Disney’s Zootopia 2 which might have prompted the former’s early release.

Agatha All Along is one of the biggest shows of the fall. In terms of hype and excitement, it feels like one of the biggest of Marvel's Disney+ shows since the streaming service launched in 2019.
After fans watched all nine episodes of Agatha All Along, there's going to be a long wait until Agatha All Along season 2 (or whatever iteration that continues this story) hits Disney+. That's the bad news. The good news is two-fold. It sure sounds like Agatha All Along season 2 is going to happen. Disney and Marvel haven't officially confirmed the series will be back, but showrunner Jac Schaeffer sure made it sound like more Agatha is on the way after that incredible season 1 ending and finale, via Marvel.
And, on top of that, we have a lot of good and witchy shows like Agatha All Along while we wait for season 2.

The two stars of Zootopia have been depicted as human beings in new artwork, and they look shocking good. The original movie was released in 2016 and followed the rabbit Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and the fox Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) on a classic buddy cop adventure. It was incredibly popular, earning over $1 billion on a budget of just $150 million. Zootopia also earned rave reviews, which praised its characters, its world, and its excellent sense of humor. A sequel is currently in development.
While Judy and Nick are supposed to be animals, a new piece of artwork depicts the pair as humans. In art created by ylanast on Instagram, both characters are completely transformed to a surprisingly realistic degree. Check it out below:

Joey King and Selena Gomez each have notable careers, especially recently, with Gomez nominated for an Emmy for Only Murders in the Building and King starring as Tally in Uglies. However, 14 years ago, these two led a very different film: Ramona and Beezus. With King as the imaginative and adventurous third-grader, Ramona Quimby, and Gomez playing her older sister, Beatrice, affectionately called Beezus, the film follows a loving, if messy, family through financial trouble and the kinds of drama that only a kid as precocious as Ramona could bring. While they are surrounded by other talented actors, including John Corbett, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Sandra Oh, the two young women carry the film.

Disneys live-action Snow White remake has been confirmed to have made a big but necessary change to the title characters name, which copies a decision Disney had already made in a TV show with a 78% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. Since the 2010s, Disney has been riding the wave of live-action remakes of some of its animated movies, and though not all of them have succeeded, the studio continues to make the most out of it. Disney still has a long list of live-action remakes coming up, and next in line is Snow White, directed by Marc Webb.
The Snow White live-action remake will keep the same premise as the animated classic, but like every other remake of this kind, its expected to have various changes. Starring in Snow White are Rachel Zegler as the title character, Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, and Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman. Snow White...

For seven whole seasons, Once Upon a Time gripped fans with its intriguing twists of classical fairytales. What would happen if The Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) got her happy ending? What would it look like if these magical characters lived in the real world? What if Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming's (Josh Dallas) daughter were the only ones who could save them all? Every single time, the storylines were plentiful and complex.

Ginnifer Goodwin has made a huge effort to hone her acting craft. Not only does she have a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts in Acting with honors from Boston University, but she also studied with the Shakespeare Institute and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Shes done everything from work on stage to the silver screen and voiced animated characters. Goodwin has even sung for a few roles.
She is best known for her role as Snow White in Once Upon A Time, but Goodwin has a pretty varied acting resume behind her. Shes appeared in family-friendly roles (and is set to reprise one of them in Zootopia 2 for Disney), thrillers, dramas, and more soapy TV series. Many of her best roles are actually on television, perhaps because these are projects that allow her to spend a little bit more time with the characters she plays.

Why Pro-Israel Hollywood Stars Like Debra Messing and Ginnifer Goodwin Turn to Hen Mazzig for Advice

Amid the cacophony of debate surrounding the Israel-Hamas War, it’s grown virtually impossible to avoid the thoughts of Hen Mazzig.
As the face of the Israeli cause, one might argue that he’s an unlikely candidate: The 34-year-old influencer is gay (he was out throughout his tour of service in the Idf) and spends his time between Tel Aviv and London. It’s in the latter city, where anti-Israel sentiment has swelled to all-time highs — alongside incidents of antisemitism — that Mazzig is regularly targeted in the streets for his views.
Still, his consistency, stridency and level-headedness in advocating for his country have turned him into one of the most recognizable pro-Israel activists on the planet. Mazzig was already a thought-leader in the space before the Oct. 7 massacre by Hamas and Israel’s brutal retaliatory war in Gaza. Since then, his profile has only skyrocketed, with his content being shared...

Once Upon a Time premiered in 2011 and ended in 2018. The show was about all the fairytale characters we know and love, but there's a twist. Every fairytale character is connected, and the stories are completely different from the stories we all knew growing up. The series began with Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) giving Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) true love's kiss and waking her up from a sleeping curse. They lived happily ever after, until The Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) crashed their wedding and threatened to cast a curse to take away the happiness of everyone in the kingdom.
The dark curse wasn't the only evil act committed by The Evil Queen (also known as Regina) throughout the duration of the series. She committed serial murder, sexual assault, burned villages, kidnapped children and poisoned countless people. Despite all of this, Regina was still rewarded with her redemption by the end of the series.
