George Golden(1907-1994)

With a rich history in show business, it was only natural for George Golden to follow in his family's footsteps. His father was George Fuller Golden who was a well-known Vaudeville actor and his sisters were well known actors.

Unlike his sister Olive Carey, George's career consisted of countless appearances as an extra and he rarely was credited. His big strapping appearance made him a natural candidate to appear in countless films as police officers and military personnel throughout the 1940s.

With the coming of television, Golden faced a unique problem, his large size and stately appearance never really meet with Hollywood's portrayal of a western cowboy. This led him to him finding steadier work on dramas like Columbo, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., while still occasionally collecting a paycheck in various westerns.

Outliving many of his peers, Golden still managed to find work in the 1980s, appearing in various movies and shows. By the late, 1980s, Golden decided to retire capping off a career that spanned several decades and several different phases in filmmaking which included the popularity and decline of such genres as war movies and westerns.
