After dropping a first look photo earlier today, the first official teaser trailer for Spider-Noir has found its way online, offering a sensational sneak peek at the upcoming Nicolas Cage-fronted series that is set to arrive on our small screens in 2026.

The synopsis reads, "Spider-Noir is a live-action series based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir. Spider-Noir tells the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero."

As per the official press release, the series will be available to watch in black and white and in color. It will debut domestically on MGM+, then launch globally on Prime Video the following day in over 240 countries and territories.

Spider-Man is one of the most popular Marvel superheroes ever created, which means he's had no shortage of adaptations over the course of the years. However, there will be no better time to be a fan of the web-slinger than 2026. At its annual upfront presentation Monday, Amazon gave a first look at Spider-Noir, the upcoming Spider-Man installment coming to MGM+ and Prime Video in 2026.

Nicolas Cage stars in the series, which is his first regular TV role. The Oscar winner voiced a version of the character in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, but the series is live-action. According the official description, "Spider-Noir tells the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero." The upcoming live-action Spider-Noir series starring Academy Award winner and Hollywood icon Nicolas Cage has finally been given a release window. Now, a possible release date for Spider-Noir has been revealed. We get to witness plenty of death in this full trailer for Danny Boyle and Alex Garland's 28 Years Later, and it all seems pretty damn terrifying!

While this latest look at the first of three new sequels to 2002's 28 Days Later does give us a little more to go on story wise, it's primarily concerned with scaring the crap out of us with glimpses of brutal "zombie" (though technically the infected are still living people) attacks.

Though the movie's logo and that unsettling rendition of Rudyard Kipling's "Boots" pervade the trailer, there are a few new shots of the infected on the attack as Aaron Taylor-Johnson's protagonist looks understandably scared sh*tless.

It is very rare to see a child actor successfully become a larger part of Hollywood once they grow up, which is rarely the case. But with Ron Howard, things looked a little different. Sure, he did not become one of the flashy directors of Hollywood, but his directorial range when it comes to trying out different genres is impressive.

Remember the "Mr. Mercedes" TV series? Few might.

"Mr. Mercedes" ran for 30 episodes over the course of three seasons from 2017 to 2019. It was a detective series starring Brendan Gleeson, Harry Treadaway, Justine Lupe, Kelly Lynch, and Mary-Louise Parker, and it was based on a trilogy of hard-boiled novels -- "Mr. Mercedes," "Finders Keepers," and "End of Watch" -- written by Stephen King in 2014 and 2015. The books began with the story of a retired homicide detective named Kermit "Bill" Hodges (Gleeson) who became involved in a serial killer case he was never able to close while still active. They got weirder from there. 

The show was developed by TV superstar David E. Kelley, and was pretty well received by viewers and critics. The first season sports an 84% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on a scant 29 reviews. The second season got a full-on 100% approval rating, but only four reviews were published.

Those looking for homegrown talent and stories at the largest documentary film festival in Switzerland, Visions du Réel, will be spoiled for choice in 2025. This year’s edition, which runs April 4-13, features a whopping 31 Swiss productions or co-productions, including the festival’s opening film, Christian Frei’s “Blame.” Veteran Frei, the first-ever Swiss filmmaker to be nominated for an Oscar back in 2002 for “War Photography,” stands alongside a crop of new talent in feature debuts such as Agostina Di Luciano and Leon Schwitter’s “The World Upside Down.”

On the healthy crop of Swiss productions and co-productions this year, Charlotte Ducos, documentary and marketing strategies consultant at the country’s national agency Swiss Films, says it is “incredibly important to have Swiss films across the program and to have the opening film of the festival not only be Swiss but also a very expected title by a renowned filmmaker.

Any filmmaker who chooses to create something new is undoubtedly thinking about the legacy they will leave behind. Even films that may not seem to have huge ambitions want to make some kind of positive mark on their audience. This is even truer for films focused on characters who themselves are thinking of the legacy they'll leave in their fictional lives.

A period piece, this pitch-black comedy-drama set in Ireland in the mid-1920s we initially reviewed at Fantastic Fest 2022 has a distinctive legacy of its own, while also telling a story about how personal legacies can spin wildly out of control. The tragicomedy is a proud member of the Nominated Only club, getting eight Oscar nominations and winning none. A recent rumor that David Zaslav might be thinking about making a major change at Warner Bros. following a number of box office disappointments appears to have been confirmed.

According to Bloomberg, the Warner Bros. Discovery CEO is currently engaged in "early and informal" talks with potential successors to studio heads Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy. Joker: Folie à Deux's abysmal box office performance is believed to be a major reason for the change, but Todd Phillips' critically-panned sequel is not the only recent WB movie to underperform at the box office.

Bong Joon Ho's Mickey 17 will reportedly end up costing the studio between $75 million to $80 million over the course of its theatrical run, and the studio is also coming off another bomb in Alto Knights - although Zaslav is believed to have greenlit the movie himself despite others voicing concerns about it having limited prospects.

Time travel stories have been prevalent in human culture since before science fiction was even a thing, so it stands to reason that these tales of temporal confusion are practically a genre in and of themselves. And out of all the time travel narratives that have inspired filmmakers over the years, my personal favorite has to be the Groundhog Day time loop – a formula that has only recently been coopted by other genres.

Of course, long before movies like Happy Death Day dared to explore the darker implications of repeating the same day ad nauseum, it was Doug Liman’s Edge of Tomorrow that first applied this kind of narrative to more serious subject matter. And with the film still finding new fans after over a decade later – not to mention an upcoming anime adaptation of the light novel which inspired its screenplay – today I’d like to look back...

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is known as people's least favorite film in the Harry Potter franchise, but the movie still features some of the most amazing moments in the series. Goblet of Fire particularly stands out for its outstanding acting, great character portrayals (with the big exception of Dumbledore), and several scenes that have become legendary — for good reason. “The Good Daughter” limited series adaptation at Peacock has added four new series regulars, Variety has learned.

Olivia Williams, Michael Dorman, Audrey Grace Marshall, and Drew Cheek have all joined the series, which is based on the Karin Slaughter novel of the same name.

They will star alongside previously announced cast members Rose Byrne, Meghann Fahy, Brendan Gleeson, and Harper Steele. Paula Malcomson and Jake McDorman are also set to appear in the series.

I’m really looking forward to Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir, and one actor on the series has teased that it could double down on the film noir aspect. While speaking with ComingSoon.net, Lukas Haas said Spider-Noir could be released in black-and-white. I’d be into that.

“We filmed it in — I think it may come out in both black and white and color, but when we filmed it, the monitors were all black and white, so you got this feeling and it looked very, very authentic,” Haas said. “To the point that I would actually go and look at the monitor and think I was looking at some older footage, but it was actually just a monitor of what was on the camera at the time. They did a beautiful job with the filters and all that stuff, making it look like genuine old 1930s, black and white film.
