Spider-Man is one of the most popular Marvel superheroes ever created, which means he's had no shortage of adaptations over the course of the years. However, there will be no better time to be a fan of the web-slinger than 2026. Next year will see the release of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday (in which we hope Peter Parker appears), and, of course, the first-ever live-action Spider-Man Noir adaptation.
Nicholas Cage will portray a darker and more violent version of Peter Parker who isn't afraid to use guns in the MGM+ and Amazon Prime series. Expectation was already at an all-time high given that the beloved actor did a flawless job voicing Spider-Man Noir in the Spider-Verse saga. With the first Ironheart teaser expected to be released tomorrow and Superman's trailer confirmed for Wednesday, it's shaping up to be a busy week for news.
As for Monday, we're kicking things off with an official look at Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man in Amazon and MGM+'s Spider-Noir TV series.
The wall-crawling private investigator has already been spotted in set photos, but this spectacular black-and-white image is like seeing the comic books—and 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse—come to life in live-action.
Cage can be seen striking an iconic Spider-Man pose and will clearly be able to shoot webs in the show. Whether Spider-Noir can right the ship for Sony after disappointments like Madame Web, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter remains to be seen.
It's interesting that this still has been presented in black-and-white because Spider-Noir star Lukas Haas previously said, "We filmed it in - I...

Nicolas Cage’s new movie recently began playing in theaters everywhere, but that didn’t stop the Oscar-winner from delivering a new update on one of his most intriguing upcoming projects. Cage has been tapped to reprise his role as Spider-Man Noir in the upcoming Prime Video series, Spider-Noir, which began filming late last year. Cage first made his debut as the character in animated form with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse before returning only in the post-credit scene of the sequel, Across the Spider-Verse. Information about Spider-Noir is being kept under heavy wraps — a concept any Marvel-adjacent project knows all too well — and during a recent interview with Collider's own Steve Weintraub to promote his new movie, The Surfer, Cage spoke on the dreaded Marvel vow of silence, and how he “can't say one word" about the secretive series

In Five Days, ‘The Accountant 2’ Has Grossed Twice As Much as Ben Affleck’s Biggest Directorial Bomb

Part of the reason why The Accountant 2 exists is that the first film, The Accountant, has developed a major cult following in the nine years since its release. Not only was it enough to spawn a sequel, unlike the recent Another Simple Favor — a follow-up to A Simple Favor — The Accountant 2 received a theatrical release. The movie debuted at the third spot domestically in its first weekend, and has already passed the $40 million mark at the global box office. While it’s still a ways away from recovering its reported budget and potentially turning a profit, The Accountant 2 has already generated twice as much as star Ben Affleck’s big-budget directorial dud Live by Night.
The gangster drama grossed around $22 million worldwide, against a reported budget of $90 million. The Accountant 2 cost around the same amount, but has already grossed $42 million worldwide in less than a week.

28 Days Later has been deemed an ever-elusive cult classic for over two decades. One of the best and most iconic zombie features in cinema history has been sadly hard to find on digital and any physical media due to rights issues, prompting genre fans to resort to illegal options by either buying secondhand DVDs or digging around online. Fortunately, 28 Days Later is finally getting the long-overdue physical release treatment it certainly deserves, as Sony is set to release a 4K Uhd SteelBook edition of the acclaimed Danny Boyle-directed post-apocalyptic film. This coincides with the theatrical release of its highly-anticipated sequel, 28 Years Later, on June 20, 2025.
The trailer for 28 Years Later surely had fans on the edge of their seats, so much so that it garnered millions of views upon its release. However, with the third installment looming on the horizon, revisiting the original that started it all was — legally speaking — almost impossible.

Could ’28 Years Later’ contend for Oscars? Here’s the complete awards history of the ’28’ franchise.

The most frightening zombies to ever appear on the big screen are back, and faster than ever. But can they run all the way to the 2026 Oscars?
Set almost three decades after 28 Days Later (2003) and 28 Weeks Later (2007), the first two films in Alex Garland's horror franchise, 28 Years Later is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 20. Garland is back as the writer and Danny Boyle, who directed the first flick, returns to direct. (Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directed and cowrote the sequel.) The latest trailer (below) dropped this morning.

"There are many kinds of death... and some are better than others"
We get to witness plenty of death in this full trailer for Danny Boyle and Alex Garland's 28 Years Later, and it all seems pretty damn terrifying!
While this latest look at the first of three new sequels to 2002's 28 Days Later does give us a little more to go on story wise, it's primarily concerned with scaring the crap out of us with glimpses of brutal "zombie" (though technically the infected are still living people) attacks.
According to the official synopsis, "It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of...

28 Days Later director (Danny Boyle) and writer (Alex Garland) have re-teamed up for a series of sequels to the 2002 horror hit, and the full trailer for the first film in the planned trilogy, 28 Years Later, is set to release online at 12am Pt/8am BST/3am Est.
In the meantime, we have a new teaser featuring flashes of terrifying imagery of rage-infected "zombies."
Though the movie's logo and that unsettling rendition of Rudyard Kipling's "Boots" pervade the trailer, there are a few new shots of the infected on the attack as Aaron Taylor-Johnson's protagonist looks understandably scared sh*tless.

It is very rare to see a child actor successfully become a larger part of Hollywood once they grow up, which is rarely the case. But with Ron Howard, things looked a little different. He has been a part of the industry way before he even turned 5. He became a household name with his role in the series The Andy Griffith Show.
He was just 6 when he joined the series, and by the age of 14, he had completed his stint with the show. What started as a small start in front of the camera ended up with him behind the cameras, making him one of the best directors in the world. He is the legend behind blockbusters like A Beautiful Mind and Apollo 13.
Sure, he did not become one of the flashy directors of Hollywood, but his directorial range when it comes to trying out different genres is impressive.

Remember the "Mr. Mercedes" TV series? Few might.
"Mr. Mercedes" ran for 30 episodes over the course of three seasons from 2017 to 2019. It was a detective series starring Brendan Gleeson, Harry Treadaway, Justine Lupe, Kelly Lynch, and Mary-Louise Parker, and it was based on a trilogy of hard-boiled novels -- "Mr. Mercedes," "Finders Keepers," and "End of Watch" -- written by Stephen King in 2014 and 2015. The books began with the story of a retired homicide detective named Kermit "Bill" Hodges (Gleeson) who became involved in a serial killer case he was never able to close while still active. They got weirder from there.
The show was developed by TV superstar David E. Kelley, and was pretty well received by viewers and critics. The first season sports an 84% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on a scant 29 reviews. The second season got a full-on 100% approval rating, but only four reviews were published.

Those looking for homegrown talent and stories at the largest documentary film festival in Switzerland, Visions du Réel, will be spoiled for choice in 2025. This year’s edition, which runs April 4-13, features a whopping 31 Swiss productions or co-productions, including the festival’s opening film, Christian Frei’s “Blame.” Veteran Frei, the first-ever Swiss filmmaker to be nominated for an Oscar back in 2002 for “War Photography,” stands alongside a crop of new talent in feature debuts such as Agostina Di Luciano and Leon Schwitter’s “The World Upside Down.”
On the healthy crop of Swiss productions and co-productions this year, Charlotte Ducos, documentary and marketing strategies consultant at the country’s national agency Swiss Films, says it is “incredibly important to have Swiss films across the program and to have the opening film of the festival not only be Swiss but also a very expected title by a renowned filmmaker.

Any filmmaker who chooses to create something new is undoubtedly thinking about the legacy they will leave behind. Even films that may not seem to have huge ambitions want to make some kind of positive mark on their audience. This is even truer for films focused on characters who themselves are thinking of the legacy they'll leave in their fictional lives.
Enter "The Banshees of Inisherin." A period piece, this pitch-black comedy-drama set in Ireland in the mid-1920s we initially reviewed at Fantastic Fest 2022 has a distinctive legacy of its own, while also telling a story about how personal legacies can spin wildly out of control. A recent rumor that David Zaslav might be thinking about making a major change at Warner Bros. following a number of box office disappointments appears to have been confirmed.
According to Bloomberg, the Warner Bros. Discovery CEO is currently engaged in "early and informal" talks with potential successors to studio heads Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy. Joker: Folie à Deux's abysmal box office performance is believed to be a major reason for the change, but Todd Phillips' critically-panned sequel is not the only recent WB movie to underperform at the box office.
Bong Joon Ho's Mickey 17 will reportedly end up costing the studio between $75 million to $80 million over the course of its theatrical run, and the studio is also coming off another bomb in Alto Knights - although Zaslav is believed to have greenlit the movie himself despite others voicing concerns about it having limited prospects.

Time travel stories have been prevalent in human culture since before science fiction was even a thing, so it stands to reason that these tales of temporal confusion are practically a genre in and of themselves. And out of all the time travel narratives that have inspired filmmakers over the years, my personal favorite has to be the Groundhog Day time loop – a formula that has only recently been coopted by other genres.
Of course, long before movies like Happy Death Day dared to explore the darker implications of repeating the same day ad nauseum, it was Doug Liman’s Edge of Tomorrow that first applied this kind of narrative to more serious subject matter. And with the film still finding new fans after over a decade later – not to mention an upcoming anime adaptation of the light novel which inspired its screenplay – today I’d like to look back...

Michael Fassbender’s critically panned video game movie has returned to streaming charts thanks to the release of the latest franchise installment, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Fassbender features alongside Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, and more in Assassin’s Creed, the 2016 adaptation following Callum Lynch, a man who explores the memories of his ancestor, Aguilar de Nerha, to gain the skills of a Master Assassin to take on the Templars. Assassin’s Creed is currently the #2 most popular movie on Max at the time of writing. Although the film earned over $240 million at the global box office, it was maligned by both critics and audiences upon release, earning scores of 19% from the former and 42% from the latter on Rotten Tomatoes. Assassin’s Creed also stars Brendan Gleeson, Charlotte Rampling, and the late Michael Kenneth Williams.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is known as people's least favorite film in the Harry Potter franchise, but the movie still features some of the most amazing moments in the series. Goblet of Fire particularly stands out for its outstanding acting, great character portrayals (with the big exception of Dumbledore), and several scenes that have become legendary — for good reason. With several new characters, excellent actors like Brendan Gleeson and Miranda Richardson take the franchise to the next level.
Of course, no one denies that Durmstrang and Beauxbatons adaptations are terrible, and the same goes for the direction Michael Gambon took during this film. However, sometimes fans are so blinded by the outrage that they miss out on some truly memorable moments in Goblet of Fire. For example, Moody turning Draco into a ferret is, without a doubt, a perfect moment in the Harry Potter franchise.

I’m really looking forward to Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir, and one actor on the series has teased that it could double down on the film noir aspect. While speaking with ComingSoon.net, Lukas Haas said Spider-Noir could be released in black-and-white. I’d be into that.
“We filmed it in — I think it may come out in both black and white and color, but when we filmed it, the monitors were all black and white, so you got this feeling and it looked very, very authentic,” Haas said. “To the point that I would actually go and look at the monitor and think I was looking at some older footage, but it was actually just a monitor of what was on the camera at the time. They did a beautiful job with the filters and all that stuff, making it look like genuine old 1930s, black and white film.

If one of your favorite versions of the famed webhead from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) was Spider-Man Noir — voiced to perfection by Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage — then fret not. That's not the last you've heard from the scene-stealing webslinger. In fact, Cage will be reprising his role in glorious live-action form with a highly anticipated new Spider-Man series for MGM+, Spider-Noir. It features a stellar cast alongside the celebrated star, including longtime performer Lukas Haas. MovieWeb recently caught up with Haas while he was promoting the release of his new caper film High Rollers, a quick follow-up to last year's release Cash Out. Haas also took time to reflect on his experience shooting Spider-Noir.
"It was a really, really cool project to be a part of. I had a great time working on that. Nic is so cool and awesome," Haas told us. "And Brendan Gleeson is amazing. He plays my boss.

Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming live-action Spider-Noir series is shaping up to be one of the most visually distinct Marvel adaptations to date.
Set in a gritty, crime-ridden version of 1930s New York, the show will introduce a unique take on the Spider-Man mythos, starring Con Air's Nicolas Cage as the hardened, noir-inspired hero. While Cage previously voiced the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), this will mark his first live-action portrayal of the fan-favorite alternate-universe Spider-Man.
While many details about Spider-Noir remain under wraps, the series is expected to fully embrace the classic film noir aesthetic. According to Spider-Noir co-star Lukas Haas in an interview with ComingSoon, Spider-Noir was shot in a way that captures the shadowy, dramatic visuals of classic noir cinema.

Spider-Noir remains in production and, if the set photos we've seen are any indication, the web-slinger's first TV series will put a unique new spin on Spider-Man.
Screen icon Nicolas Cage plays Ben Reilly, a private eye who moonlights as a superhero. We've seen him swinging into action on set, suggesting the series will be very much in line with the comics, even though those featured Peter Parker under the mask. Why Spider-Noir is named after his clone hasn't been made clear.
Lukas Haas has landed a mystery role in the show and, during a recent interview with Coming Soon, suggested the series could be released in black and white as well as colour.

As fans await news about a beloved Tom Cruise sci-fi film's potential sequel, the critically acclaimed original gets some welcome streaming news. The Cruise-led blockbuster, Edge of Tomorrow, lands on the free streaming service Tubi this spring.
Tubi confirmed that Edge of Tomorrow, which sees Cruise star alongside Oscar-nominated actor Emily Blunt, will become available on its platform on Apr. 1. This is good news for movie lovers looking to watch the film free of charge, adding to Tubi's growing popularity. Edge of Tomorrow landed on Paramount+ earlier this month as streaming services look to capitalize on the film's long-lasting popularity.
Directed by Doug Liman, Edge of Tomorrow is set in a future where an alien race occupies most of Europe. Cruise portrays Major William Cage, a public relations officer with no combat experience who is forced by his superiors to board a landing operation to take out the aliens.

Alex Garland is a fan of The Last of Us. The filmmaker recently revealed that he believes the HBO drama series to be better than his 2002 post-apocalyptic zombie movie 28 Days Later.
Garland shared his opinion during a discussion with The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann for Sony's Creator to Creator series. "Let me say this: The Last of Us is better than 28 Days [Later]," Garland said (via GamesRadar+). "The Last of Us is better than 28 Days, or at least the writing is. I'm not going to talk about directing, that would be a silly thing. So not that. I know what 28 Days is, I know what I did. I know what that process was. The thing about The Last of Us, I was like, 'Oh, this is so much more sophisticated and moving. It was moving. I'm not dissing 28 Days, I'm very proud of it. It's a nice part of my life.
Todd Phillips' Joker: Folie à Deux will likely go down as one of the most notorious flops in comic book movie history, as the sequel's box office underperformance and negative critical reception were made all the more surprising by the first film's huge level of success.
Though the downbeat musical does have its defenders, Phillips' creative choices just didn't click with the majority of cinema goers. The lead performances from Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga did come in for a lot of praise, but it didn't stop the pair from being nominated for - and winning - several Razzie awards.
Gaga was the guest host for this week's episode of Saturday Night Live, and used the opportunity to take a few playful jabs at the movie, and her own Razzie win.
“Anyway, I’m an actor now,” the Oscar and Grammy winner said during her opening monologue. “I select films...

Martin Scorsese is a director of some of modern Hollywood's most classic films. His command over showing characters through wonderfully executed camerawork and production design has introduced audiences to heroes, villains, and stories that revived genres and enticed people to be in the shoes of the characters. However, Scorsese has often made films about conflict, but not directly about a war. When one thinks of a war film, thoughts of green wool uniforms and old bomber planes come to mind. Scorsese has some brutal fights in many of his films but has kept the war genre at large at arm's length.
Despite this, there is one film that did allow Scorsese to...

Edge of Tomorrow was one of those box office disappointments that should have been an instant hit. Its fumble was largely credited to the production budget, but it was also a missed opportunity that it wasn't called Live Die Repeat.
Paramount+ is now streaming Edge of Tomorrow, Tom Cruise's sleeper hit. Inspired by the Japanese light novel All You Need Is Kill, Edge of Tomorrow plays out like an Fps video game based on the plot of Groundhog Day; Edge of Tomorrow has a growing following clamoring for a sequel, and with the video game movie adaptation currently at its peak, that followup has a better chance at the box office. The film bombed despite positive reception from audiences and critics, earning $370 million against its $178 million budget.

Joker: Folie à Deux continues to be the butt of jokes in the film industry following its much-publicized flop. Even the Academy Awards couldn't resist taking shots at the derided DC sequel as the event made one brutal joke at its expense, with the help of Los Angeles' finest.
Host Conan O'Brien led a segment during the 97th Academy Awards where he introduced members of the Los Angeles Fire Department and had them read some jokes off the teleprompter, saying “Now, I know you’re going to find this hard to believe, but there are some jokes even I’m not brave enough to tell,” before adding, “On behalf of myself, would you please read what’s in the prompter? Remember — everyone in this audience has to laugh; these are heroes!” LA Fire Department captain Erik Scott started the segment with a fiery joke about Folie à Deux, referencing the...

March is home to Saint Patrick's Day, of course, so it's kind of a big deal. While one can certainly go out and have fun on March 17, the date should also be an important reminder of the island their families came from if they have Irish ancestry. Things were not always easy, and the films below reflect that to various degrees.
The only issue with the group below is that there are no films on Netflix currently that feature luminaries Cillian Murphy, Brendan Gleeson, or Colin Farrell. Should the streamer have added some flicks with these stars during March? Yes, but maybe they could not.
The great part is that good Irish films do not stop with just those actors. There is plenty of talent (both in front of and behind the camera) to go around. You will not be disappointed by these four films.
