  • Works frequently with Stephen King in developing the bestselling author's books into television versions. Garris sits in the director's chair while King delivers the script of his choice.
  • After leaving Avco Embassy, Garris became much in demand to shoot behind-the-scenes footage on various films, and was hired for, among others, Videodrome (1983), Gremlins (1984) and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984).
  • Worked as a secretary for The Star Wars Corporation in 1977.
  • Was a production assistant on various films for Avco Embassy. While working there he shot behind-the-scenes footage on such films as The Howling (1981) and The Fog (1980).
  • Works frequently with composer Nicholas Pike, who has scored 11 projects for Garris, from Critters 2: The Main Course (1988) to Bag of Bones (2011). They have done several feature films, TV movies and TV series together.
  • Interviewed Scatman Crothers in 1980 to promote Stanley Kubrick's The Shining (1980). He later directed the television miniseries The Shining (1997).
  • Has been connected at various stages to the film version of The Talisman for about ten years now.
  • Mick Garris wrote a screenplay for Eddie Murphy in the late 80's titled "Black Sheep" but was never made.
