Mila Kunis Faced This Series’ Awkward Sabotage Before She Became Jackie
Image
Before she stole hearts as Jackie Burkhart on That ’70s Show, Mila Kunis had a rough brush with early TV fame, and mind you, it wasn’t pretty. She apparently landed a role in a short-lived series that seemed promising on paper but crashed hard behind the scenes.

Kunis faced some sneaky sabotage that could’ve easily crushed a young actor’s confidence. However, instead of folding, she powered through, and the rest, as we know, is iconic sitcom history. Here’s how that weird detour nearly threw off her rise.

Mila Kunis froze in her 90210 audition, and that flop led straight to That ’70s Show Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher in That ’70s Show | Credits: Fox

Mila Kunis had a totally awkward crash course in Hollywood rejection before That ‘70s Show, and it came courtesy of Beverly Hills, 90210.

Here’s what happened: Kunis got the callback. She showed up.

Demi Moore at an event for Another Happy Day (2011)
Demi Moore and Colman Domingo are set to star in Strange Arrivals, an alien abduction-themed romance inspired by the true story of Betty and Barney Hill and based on the podcast by Toby Ball.

Tina Fey reimagines Alan Alda's The Four Seasons (but is it good?)
Image
There’s a sequence in Alan Alda’s 1981 movie The Four Seasons in which all of the main characters converge on a classic Connecticut college for a parents' weekend and end up playing a friendly game of soccer.

Alda uses the game to highlight the competitiveness of the two primary players. The set piece is the same in Tina Fey’s new interpretation – now playing on Netflix – but the sport has changed. Now they are all playing ultimate frisbee.

This is just one of the many ways Fey and her co-creators – Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield – have managed to remain faithful to Alda’s original while expanding the scope.

With a writer like Tina Fey in charge, how could Four Seasons go wrong?

For instance, whereas the soccer scene in the original film primarily results in a showdown between the two alpha males in the group – Jack (Alda) and Nick (Len Cariou) – Fey,...

Top 10 Movies and Shows on Netflix: Week of May 5, 2025

This Mother’s Day weekend, Netflix audiences skipped the prix fixe brunch and went straight to the Sunday ragù, making the Vince Vaughn–led Nonnas— a love letter to grief, cooking, and second chances — the most-watched English film of the week with 15.3 million views.

Based on a true story, the film simmers with sauce and sentiment as a mourning son sets out to rebuild his life and community by opening a Staten Island trattoria with a kitchen staffed entirely by grandmother chefs, each with a story — and signature dish — of her own.

The celebrations extended beyond the heartwarming grandmothers of Staten Island. Mothers also kept the cinematic hits coming, with viewing numbers for The Mother and Bird Box increasing more than 20 percent the week of Mother's Day.

And TV audiences continued cycling through the seasons with Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Marco...

Netflix’s Critically Panned Indian ‘Bridgerton’ Dupe Dethrones ‘The Four Seasons’ Despite 33% Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
It's no secret that Netflix decides its content strategy based on data. The success of certain kinds of shows and films inspires the streamer to produce more of the same, but with a twist. The Royals, a new eight-episode romantic comedy series, takes the Bridgerton model and applies it to a modern-day Indian setting. The show features a royal family staring bankruptcy and obsolescence in the face, forced to join hands with a brash young CEO of a hospitality company. The family rents out their palace for "commoners" to live in, and love blossoms between the CEO and a young prince. The Royalsopened to terrible reviews last week, but has been making a splash on the streaming charts.

According to FlixPatrol, The Royals has been topping Netflix's rankings for the last two days, having dethroned the star-studded comedy series The Four Seasons. Co-created by and starring Tina Fey, The Four Seasons also features Will Forte,...

Here’s the Will Forte Audition Sketch That Was Too Raunchy for ‘SNL’
Image
“Mike Schur, who wrote for SNL and The Office before creating Parks and Rec and many other TV shows, told me something eye-opening,” Pablo Torre said this week on his Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast. “Mike told me that out of all of the SNL auditions he has ever seen — all of which happen to occur in front of the show’s creator Lorne Michaels — nobody has ever made him laugh harder than Will Forte.”

Forte almost avoided the audition altogether, the comic revealed this week on Torre’s show. He was a writer on That ‘70s Show, which had just been picked up for two more seasons. Forte had never enjoyed that kind of job security — plus, he was terrified to try out for SNL. But Michaels talked him into auditioning, with the support of his sitcom bosses.

Much of the material in Forte’s try-out eventually made it into SNL sketches.

While there is no official Season 2 renewal as yet, Fey and her fellow co-creators Tracey Wigfield and Lang Fisher are hopeful about getting a chance to cycle through the seasons — as in Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter — with the cast for a second time.

The Four Seasonsadapts the 1981 film of the same name, which was written and directed by Alan Alda. The series follows three sets of couples: Kate (Fey) and Jack (Will Forte), Danny (Colman Domingo) and Claude (Marco Calvani), and Nick (Carell) and Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver...

‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Heading to Cannes Market With Kinology
Image
The ongoing drama involving “Coyote vs. Acme” is taking another turn.

The live-action animated film — which was initially shelved by Warner Bros. as a tax write-off in late 2023 — is now set to hit the Cannes market.

Ketchup Entertainment, which acquired the rights in March for a reported $50 million, has tapped Kinology to serve as the international sales agent, with Grégoire Melin’s Paris-based company introducing to the film to buyers.

Starring Will Forte, John Cena and Lana Condor, Coyote vs. Acme is directed by Dave Green and produced by Chris DeFaria (“The Lego Movie”) and James Gunn (“Guardians of the Galaxy”).

“We’re not just bringing a family film to Cannes — we’re bringing a global event,” commented Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment. “Coyote vs. Acme is a true four-quadrant crowd pleaser. The performances are sublime, the world-building is extraordinary, and Dave Green has delivered something visually inventive and...

Steve Carell and Tina Fey's Netflix Comedy Dethrones 'You' Season 5
Image
The series finale of Netflix's You may have been one of the most anticipated in recent memory, but it was no match for the comedic genius of Steve Carell and Tina Fey. After just one week, You Season 5 has been dethroned from the top of the Netflix charts by The Four Seasons, the comedic drama created by Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield that adapts the 1981 film that starred Alan Alda and Carol Burnett.

Per Variety, The Four Seasons racked up 11.9 million views in its first four days, which was enough to dethrone You Season 5 and take the top spot at #1, where it's remained ever since. By contrast, the Penn Badgley thriller amassed 10.1 million views in its first four days, and just 10.9 million views in its first full week of availability.

Starring not only Carell and Fey, The Four Seasons also features Colman Domingo and Will Forte, and tells...

Beep Beep: ‘Coyote Vs. Acme’ Heads To The Cannes Market With Kinology Aboard For International Sales — Hot Project
Image
Exclusive: One of the year’s most intrigue-filled movies is heading to the Cannes market for sale: the former Warner Bros live-action/animation hybrid Coyote vs. Acme.

We can reveal that Grégoire Melin’s Paris-based Kinology will serve as international sales agent for Ketchup Entertainment, which bought worldwide rights to the film from Warner Bros in a big deal earlier this year and is releasing in North America at a date tbc.

We understand there will be footage for buyers to see and potentially a market screening but the latter isn’t set yet.

Will Forte, John Cena and Lana Condor star in the movie, which follows Wile E. Coyote, who, after Acme products fail him one too many times in his dogged pursuit of the Roadrunner, decides to hire a billboard lawyer to sue the Acme Corporation. The case pits Wile E. and his lawyer (Forte) against the latter...

‘The Four Seasons’ debuts at No. 1 on Netflix
Image
The Four Seasons is No. 1.

Netflix’s new comedy series from cocreator Tina Fey topped the streaming platform’s viewing charts between April 28 and May 4, taking down the buzzy final season of thriller series You. That The Four Seasons only premiered on May 1, while You was available in full for the entire week, further buttresses its bona fides as a budding hit for Netflix.

“We are beyond thrilled at how many people have watched and loved The Four Seasons,’” cocreator Lang Fisher said in a statement to Gold Derby. “Thank you to everyone who wrapped themselves up in a blanket, got cozy, and binge-watched the whole thing in one sitting. We love you!”

The Four Seasons has long been expected to factor heavily into the Emmy Awards race, although some pundits have expressed slight concern over its May release date. In recent years, shows that arrived during the final month...

How Comedy & Drama Pushed Tina Fey’s ‘The Four Seasons’ Into Netflix’s Top Spot
Image
Cue up Pachelbel’s Canon in D, because The Four Seasons is a hit indeed! The series, which stars Tina Fey, Will Forte, Colman Domingo, Marco Calvani, Steve Carell, and Kerri Kenney-Silver as three emotionally messy couples who regularly vacation together, is currently number one globally on Netflix with 11.9 million views and counting. Not too shabby for a project based on a 44-year-old feature — Alan Alda’s 1981 big-screen rom-com of the same name — that doesn’t rely on heavy special effects, reality-show screaming, overheated teens, or serial killer Joe Goldberg, whose final season of You was bumped from the top spot. Instead, Tfs manages to mine eight instantly bingeable episodes out of razor-sharp dialogue, off-the-charts chemistry among the entire ensemble, and universally relatable situations. Whether it’s how the group reformulates after Carell’s Nick divorces Kenney-Silver’s Anne and takes up with a younger woman (played by Hazbin Hotel...

The Tina Fey Miniseries Taking Over Netflix Is Perfect For The White Lotus Fans
Image
If you're expecting the fast-paced outright absurdity of "30 Rock" or "Girls5Eva" when you queue up Tina Fey's new Netflix series "The Four Seasons," you might be caught off guard. But while this project is a bit different from a lot of Fey's small-screen work, it's still yet another worthy effort from the multi-talented "Saturday Night Live" veteran. Based on Alan Alda's 1981 movie "The Four Seasons," which was written, directed, and led by Alda alongside Carol Burnett, Rita Moreno, and Len Cariou, this Netflix miniseries of the same name reimagines the story for modern times. Fey, who created the show with her longtime collaborators Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield, stars as Kate, who's married to Jack (Will Forte), and every "season," they vacation with their friends Danny (Colman Domingo), Danny's husband Claude (Marco Calvani), Nick (Steve Carell), and his wife Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver). According to FlixPatrol, the...

Tina Fey and Steve Carell's New Miniseries With 78% Rt Score Dethrones You Season 5 on Netflix
Image
You didn't become an immediate success after its release in 2018, but it found success once Netflix acquired the series and released it on the platform. However, the fifth and final season opened to lukewarm receptions, and the show failed to hold on to the No. 1 spot following its debut week.

You Season 5 brought Joe Goldberg's story to an end after multiple seasons of getting away with murder and enchanting the audience. However, the show didn't manage to charm the critics or the audience the way it used to in earlier seasons. In its second week,You Season 5 fell to the second spot and was dethroned by Tina Fey and Steve Carell's new showThe Four Seasons, per Tudum.

In its second week on Netflix, You Season 5 added 10.9 million views and 92.4 million hours viewed. This is slightly above its initial numbers during its debut weekend, where You's Joe Goldberg attracted...

4 reasons Conan O'Brien’s Mark Twain Prize Night is a must-watch comedy event
Image
Conan O'Brien has had quite a career. Even though he has hosted a late-night show on one of the original three big networks, he always seemed like one of us. He was seemingly lucky to have what he got, and he knew it.

But he was also always more talented than he let on, and others knew it. Adam Sandler confessed at March's Mark Twain Prize ceremony (the 2025 prize went to O'Brien) that when O'Brien was writing for Saturday Night Live, he was always "quicker" and "funnier" than everyone else. The thread running from Conan's days working on The Simpsons to his current podcast is humor, and lots of it.

One of the best parts about the Mark Twain Prize this year is that Netflix viewers can now watch it on their favorite streamer. There are moments of oddness, but several of pure hilarious entertainment. Here are four of the best.

“We’re both very shy”: Steve Carell and Tina Fey Starred in 15 Year Old Rom-Com But Didn’t Become Friends Till ‘The Four Seasons’
Image
What happens when two comedy legends finally team up? Turns out, it’s not always fireworks and improv gold. Tina Fey and Steve Carell—our favorite chaotic TV bosses—lit up screens as Liz Lemon and Michael Scott, but their off-screen chemistry never quite sparked the same way. Their first collab, 2010’s Date Night, had all the makings of a comedy classic…except their relationship stayed strictly “co-star zone” for over a decade.

Now, they’re back—this time in a star-packed series with Colman Domingo, Will Forte, Marco Calvani, and Kerri Kenney-Silver. The story? Three longtime couple-friends hit a breaking point when one pair calls it quits. Think The Office meets 30 Rock, but with the emotional chaos of Marriage Story.

Sounds like the making of Carell and Tina Fey’s Date Night was, well, like an awkward date, perhaps a first one.

Inside Tina Fey and Steve Carell...

The Four Seasons Creators Address Possible Season 2 for Tina Fey & Steve Carell's New Netflix Hit
Image
The Four Seasons creators opened up about the possibility of doing another season of Netflix’s newest comedy drama series, which is being led by Golden Globe winners Tina Fey and Steve Carell. This marks the comedic duo’s latest collaboration, after previously starring in 2010’s Date Night movie and 2013’s Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues movie.

During a recent interview with TV Insider, Fey and Tracey Wigfield shared their potential plans for The Four Seasons’ future should they be given the chance to make a second season. They confirmed that the next installment would definitely bring back the main cast. “If we did another season, we would want the same group of friends, and we’d want Ginny to really be tied in there because she and Anne are going to have children who are siblings. And it just gives us a lot to play with in their relationship,...

The 7 Best New Shows on Netflix in May
Image
In a rare feat for a streamer as beloved for its onslaught of acquisitions as its original productions, the best new shows on Netflix’s May release calendar are all exclusive to the service. While I balk at calling Conan O’Brien’s Mark Twain Prize ceremony a full-on Netflix original, the most powerful streaming service in the world was smart enough to snag the rights — and schedule the premiere during yet another period of peak appreciation for our favorite late-night Irishman — so they deserve ample credit.

Plus, it’s the only entry of the lot that’s not an established Netflix franchise or an anticipated Netflix original. May will welcome new seasons of “Love, Death & Robots”, “Untold” (the sports documentary series that’s proving to be a worthy addition to any “30 for 30” fan’s queue), and the final season of “Big Mouth.” (A well-reviewed Netflix original series that spans eight seasons plus a spinoff?...
