    • Dario Fo was born on March 24, 1926 in Sangiano, Lombardy, Italy. He was a writer and actor, known for It Happened in Rome (1957), Lo svitato (1956) and The Betrothed (1989). He was married to Franca Rame. He died on October 13, 2016 in Milan, Italy.

  • Winner of the 1997 Nobel prize for literature.
  • He drives a bio-diesel car, fueled by a vegetal mixture that doesn't pollute but smells of french fries.
  • Joined the army of the Italian Social Republic of Salò. After the end of the war, he spent a few months in prison for collaborating with the fascist regime.
  • Supported the Italian Communist Party.
  • He wrote more than 80 plays, many of them in collaboration with his wife, Franca. Their satirical work was based on the tradition of the medieval jester and the improvisation of commedia dell'arte. They staged thousands of performances in conventional theaters, factories, university sit-ins, city parks, and prisons.
