Frank M. Fleming
- Art Department
- Special Effects
- Casting Department
A graduate of the College of Charleston with a Major in Biology and a
Minor in Philosophy, Frank Fleming brings a unique breath of fresh air
to the projects in which he is involved. He is grounded by a deep sense
of logistics yet unbounded by his creativity to provide an unusual
balance for a Leadman. This combination proves to be key in the
creative problem solving needed on film projects.
Since the late 1980s he has held numerous positions on film sets, thus breaking the tunnel vision which often traps experienced crew members who have only an eye for their crafts. With the National and International Location projects completed, Frank has acquired the multi-faceted experience which is well suited with Set Decorators, Production Managers, and Set Dressers.
Location Projects often entail the accumulation of local crew members. Frank's sense of Fun and his background in team sports allows him to blend crew members' personalities into a cohesive unit. By recognizing the strengths and weaknesses of his crew he can fine tune it, in turn, giving way to increased productivity and striking efficiency.
Frank makes his home on James Island, South Carolina, which a short five minute drive from downtown Charleston where he works on Commercials and various other film projects as an Art Director/Props Master. He is also an avid sports fisherman, cook, and runner with a fondness for adventure travel. The destinations have included Borneo, Cuba, Chiapas, Europe, Costa Rica, and Las Vegas. In the summer of 2006, between projects, created 'Simply Bananas', a nursery focusing exclusively on cold hardy ornamental and fruiting banana plants for the Charleston area of South Carolina. This venture was recently featured in the April 2009 issue of "Charleston Magazine".
Frank and his artist wife, Kate, founded "Ocho Verde" a wildlife reserve and retreat near Golfito, Costa Rica. Ocho Verde is home to several troops of endangered red back squirrel monkeys.
