Blade Trilogy Writer David S. Goyer On MCU Reboot Delay: "Why Is It Taking So Long?"
Image
Like the rest of us, David S. Goyer is wondering why Marvel Studios is having so much trouble cracking the long-awaited Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali, and has offered his services to Kevin Feige should he need any help getting the project back on track.

Goyer, who wrote the scripts for all three movies in the original Blade trilogy and directed 2004's Blade: Trinity, was asked if he would have any interest in writing the MCU reboot during an interview with Screen Rant.

“I would. I’ve always loved the character and I love him. I’ve been sitting on the sidelines wondering, ‘What in the world is going on? Why is it taking so long?’ Because I’m a huge Marvel fan myself, and I’ve just been totally puzzled.”

Though the reboot was removed from Marvel Studios' slate late last year, we had heard that the movie was...

Wesley Snipes’ ‘Blade’ Trilogy Writer Is Ready to Help Marvel’s Delayed Reboot Get Made: ‘What in the World Is Going On? Why Is it Taking So Long?’
Image
David S. Goyer recently told ScreenRant that he is more than ready to answer the call should Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios need him to write Mahershala Ali’s long-delayed “Blade” movie. Goyer is no stranger to the comic book vampire hunter, having written all three movies in Wesley Snipes’ original “Blade” trilogy. He even stepped in to direct 2004’s “Blade: Trinity.”

“I would. I’ve always loved the character and I love him,” Goyer said when asked if he would write Marvel’s “Blade” reboot for the MCU. “I’ve been sitting on the sidelines wondering, ‘What in the world is going on? Why is it taking so long?’ Because I’m a huge Marvel fan myself, and I’ve just been totally puzzled.”

Marvel originally announced its “Blade” movie with Ali in July 2019, but development has been rocky as several writers and directors have come and gone over the years.

Wesley Snipes in Blade (1998)
Blade trilogy writer David S. Goyer’s advice to Marvel: “Give me a call.”
Wesley Snipes in Blade (1998)
The fact that there was going to be a Blade reboot as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starring Mashershala Ali in the title role, came as a huge surprise when the announcement was made at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July of 2019… but we’re coming up on the six year anniversary of that announcement, and we still haven’t seen a new Blade movie. The closest we’ve gotten is Ali making a vocal cameo as the character at the end of Eternals back in 2021. Now, we don’t know if we’re going to get a Blade reboot at all – which is baffling to David S. Goyer, who wrote the trilogy of Blade films that were released between 1998 and 2004 and also created the short-lived Blade TV series that ran for 13 episodes in 2006. His advice to Marvel Studios: “Give me a call.”

'Blade' Trilogy Writer David S. Goyer Wants To Write Mahershala Ali MCU Film
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe may be riding on a high thanks to the critical and early financial success of Thunderbolts* (The New Avengers), but one title that seems to be giving them some stress is Blade. Mahershala Ali was announced to be taking on the titular role at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, and since the reveal of that big news, the film has been delayed indefinitely due to script rewrites and director changes. Given the fact that the film has continued to stall, fans aren't optimistic that the movie will come to fruition, but someone from Blade's past would like a crack at getting the project on track. David S. Goyer, who penned the original Blade trilogy, has entered the chat, and it sounds like he'd like a chance to get the daywalker back on the big screen.

During a chat with ScreenRant, Goyer chimed in on the Blade debacle...

"Give Me A Call": Original Blade Trilogy Writer Addresses How Marvel Can Finally Make Mahershala Ali's MCU Movie Happen
Image
Original Blade screenwriter David S. Goyer weighs in on the multiple delays and rewrites Marvel's Blade has been through since the MCU movie was announced. Since its announcement at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Marvel's Blade reboot has been delayed and rewritten multiple times. Blade has gone as far as casting at least three actors in supporting roles. Yet, six years after its original announcement, there have been few major Blade updates that suggest the project will release anytime soon.

Speaking to ScreenRant's Liam Crowley at the Murderbot world premiere, David S. Goyer reveals he's just as puzzled about Blade's delays as Marvel fans. Goyer wonders "What in the world is going on?" and jokes Marvel should give him a call to push the project forward. Created by Chris and Paul Weitz as a live-action adaptation of Martha Wells' The Murderbot Diaries and executive-produced by David S. Goyer, Murderbot premieres on...

The First Foundation Season 3 Trailer Teases The Villain Sci-Fi Fans Have Been Waiting For
Image
The future is now, old man ... but things are still looking a little hairy in the universe of "Foundation." Season 2 of the Apple TV+ sci-fi series left fans on one heck of a cliffhanger, shaking up the hierarchy of the Empire for good in the present but inadvertently causing ripple effects over a century down the line with the looming threat of the sinister Mule. It was only a matter of time (literally!) before that futuristic chicken came home to roost, and his arrival in season 3 represents a villain that viewers have been waiting quite a while to see formally unleashed on our main characters.

Apple has released a new teaser for "Foundation" season 3, and it looks as thrilling, sweeping, and wildly expensive as ever. Set over 150 years after the events of the second season, war has once again descended upon the Cleonic Dynasty ... but not in the way we may have expected.

The Animated Batman Movie You Didn't Know Was A Prequel To The Dark Knight
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

If you're a Batman fan (or even if you aren't), you must've heard of Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" Trilogy. Led by Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, these three movies — "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight," and "The Dark Knight Rises" — have raised the bar for every Batman movie made since. But are there truly only three Dark Knight movies?

The 2008 animated feature "Batman: Gotham Knight" was released as a tie-in to "The Dark Knight." Warner Bros. sold the film as a prequel to their new blockbuster, set between "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight."

"Gotham Knight" is not a single-feature, but an anthology of six shorts, each one with a different director and writer. The six shorts lead into each other, forming a narrative thread but still an episodic one. The shorts, which offer treats for both Batman and anime fans,...

Along with the premiere date announcement, Netflix unveiled the first teaser trailer for “The Sandman” final season, which teases a big reunion for Dream (Tom Sturridge) and his family of Endless siblings. The teaser can be seen below.

As Variety previously reported, Netflix and “The Sandman” showrunner Allan Heinberg had plotted the second season to be the final since before it was filmed in the summer of 2023. However, the streamer did not confirm the end of the show until January of this year, which coincided with the timing of sexual misconduct accusations leveled against “The Sandman” graphic...

5 Movies Sabotaged By the People Who Made Them
Image
We all make mistakes. For most of us, they’re not much more consequential than buying the wrong kind of milk, but in Hollywood, it might be signing onto a seven- or eight-figure project only to realize it’s garbage. Those who can’t just write it off on their taxes sometimes take extreme measures to make sure it never gets seen or at least make the experience as unpleasant as possible. Sometimes, they design it that way from the get-go.

5 Blade: Trinity

Wesley Snipes had some potentially legitimate beef with the producers of Blade: Trinity. He believed other Black actors were the subject of discrimination on the set, suspected the movie’s only purpose was to set up spin-offs for its white stars, and also, it was Blade: Trinity. His reaction, however, might have been a little overboard. He refused to communicate with director David S. Goyer outside of...

The wait is almost over for fans of Martha Wells' Hugo and Nebula Award-winning Murderbot novels.

Nearly two years after Apple TV+ secured the adaptation rights, the first poster and trailer for the highly anticipated sci-fi series have arrived, showcasing Emmy Award winner Alexander Skarsgård as the intriguing titular character.

In a previously released interview with Empire,Skarsgard revealed, "Ironically, I found Murderbot more relatable than most characters I’ve ever played. There’s a social awkwardness, or just trying to figure out how to fit into a group."

"But then it ends up on this weird planet with this weird group of humans that are outside the corporate system,...

Christopher Nolan Had To Follow One Condition To Direct Batman Begins
Image
It is hard to believe that "Batman Begins" will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. That one fact alone immediately evokes the first chord of Hans Zimmer's "Time" from his "Inception" score in your head, as you are taken aback at how stupid fast the years fly by these days. No one can doubt how much impact Christopher Nolan's first entry in his "Batman" trilogy left on the comic book genre as we know it. And while the sequel, "The Dark Knight," was arguably more influential, that film would not exist without the origin story that set it up.

Before Christopher Nolan took over the reins on Gotham City, he was notable among cinephiles for his masterpiece, "Memento." The film's nonlinear storytelling and neo-noir thriller elements gave viewers a glimpse into Nolan's creative mind, giving him his first Academy Award nomination for his original screenplay. His next film,...

“Officially, there is no word”: 2021 Series That Is Apple TV’s Answer to Dune Gets Depressing Season 3 Update
Image
Foundation is Apple TV’s visually stunning show, with a futuristic story about intergalactic conflict, much like Dune. Fans have been eagerly waiting for season 3, but the series has faced too many hurdles to count.

A still from Foundation | Apple TV+

Based on Isaac Asimov’s legendary novels, the sci-fi epic gained a niche audience. But the updates so far are quite depressing, and it’s hard to put a timeline on the project’s release. So, what’s really going on with the show?

Behind-the-scenes turmoil that threatened Foundation season 3 A still from Foundation | Apple TV+

Foundation is not a cheap show to produce, and as per Forbes, season 1 cost $45 million. So it’s clear that Apple TV+ was hoping to bank on the series, making it their sci-fi spectacle, but grandeur comes at a price, and rolling out season 3 has been anything but smooth for the creators.

'Foundation' Season 3 Finally Gets a Release Window (Sort of)
Image
There’s finally promising news for the premiere of Apple TV+’s Foundation Season 3 after years of keeping fans in suspense. The latest scoop from TVLine’s Matt’s Inside Line reveals a “plausible” release date for the long-awaited season that was announced in December 2023. Foundation is loosely based on Isaac Asimov’s series of stories of the same name and was created for the streamer by David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman, who left as co-writer and co-showrunner in April 2019. Goyer also exited the series amid production issues in the past two years, with a new showrunner taking over.

Although there has been no official talk of when exactly Foundation will return to small screens, it may happen later this year. The precise report about its release window reads:

After being paused by the SAG-AFTRA strike and again by budget issues, filming on Season 3 wrapped last summer. Given...

Dolph Lundgren Teases Secret Project but Is It as King Grayskull in 'Masters of the Universe'?
Image
Masters of the Universe fans are already hyped up about the return of He-Man to the big screen next summer after several images gave a sneak peek at Nicholas Galitzine’s iteration of Eternia’s muscleman, but has Dolph Lundgren cranked the hype up a little further by teasing an appearance in the movie? Some fans certainly seem to think so as the actor posted several images of himself in London for a “secret project,” which is coincidentally – or not – where Masters of the Universe is currently filming.

Lundgren played He-Man back in 1987, in the only live-action entry in the action fantasy franchise. While the movie was deemed a disaster at the time, mainly thanks to it bearing very little resemblance to the popular 80s cartoon series and toy line, the film has stood the test of time as a cult classic and Lundgren is still part of its legacy.

The Masters of the Universe franchise has been going strong for over forty years now, consisting of multiple lines of action figures, several animated TV shows, a bunch of comic book series, and much more including a live-action film adaptation that was released in 1987 and starred Dolph Lundgren as the iconic character He-Man. Although that ’87 film has a strong fan following, it wasn’t received very well in general… but now, Mattel (the toy company behind the franchise) is ready to give the idea of a live-action Masters of the Universe film another try. Set up at Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios, the new Masters of the Universe is aiming for a theatrical release date of June 5, 2026 – and here’s everything we know about it:
