There have been numerous medical dramas on television, and 10 years ago, on May 27, 2014, The Night Shift joined that list. The NBC drama, with a cast including Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Ken Leung, Brendan Fehr, Robert Bailey, Jr., Jeananne Goossen, and Scott Wolf, ran four seasons and for three of them was a welcome addition to the summer lineup (the second aired in the spring). Created by Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, the drama followed the lives of the staff who work the late night shift in the emergency room at San Antonio Memorial Hospital, and according to Macken, who was last seen on La Brea (which ended after three seasons on NBC), that’s not the only thing that made it stand out. “What Gabe and Jeff did was everyone that came onto that show in any capacity in every episode they knew or worked with usually, or if there...

It’s always a good time to revisit the “Final Destination” movies, one of the goriest, most (re)watchable horror franchises of all time.
The cast of characters trying to dodge Death in each film changes (for the most part), but the enigmatic and menacing coroner William Bludworth (“Candyman” star Tony Todd) is in every installment except the fourth movie.
Here’s where you can stream all five movies, where people who survived catastrophic disasters are killed off in inventively gruesome ways.
Tony Todd in “Final Destination” (New Line Cinema)
“Final Destination” (2000)
In the first film, student Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) has a terrifying vision that the plane his French class is taking to Paris will explode, killing everyone. He freaks out and leaves the plane, as do several other students and one teacher. The flight does, in fact, go up in flames … and then people begin dying in the...

There’s another Amityville movie to watch! And this one actually has some connection to the early days of the franchise. These days it seems like every indie filmmaker in the world has made something with Amityville in the title, but the new film The Amityville Curse is based on the novel of the same title, which was written by Hans Holzer. Holzer was a parapsychologist who invested the supposedly haunted house in Amityville in the ’70s and went on to write the books Murder in Amityville (which served as a source of inspiration for Amityville II: The Possession), The Secret of Amityville, and yes, The Amityville Curse. The new adaptation of Holzer’s work has been released through the Tubi streaming service as a Tubi Original – and you can check out the trailer for it in the embed above.
This is actually the second movie to be called The Amityville Curse.

The Amityville Curse seemed to bear a couple of its own curses. It’s an Amityville knockoff and after Amityville Cult, Amityville Thanksgiving, Amityville in the Hood, and so many more, it’s pretty much a guarantee of mediocrity. Secondly, it’s a Tubi Original, which usually carries a very similar guarantee.
But there were a couple of reasons to be hopeful as well. Director Éric Tessier may not be well known outside of Quebec but his adaptions of two of Patrick Senécal’s novels, 5150 Elm’s Way and more importantly, Sur le Seuil aka Evil Words, are both excellent. Dennis Heaton wrote the film, based on the novel by the late Hans Holzer. Heaton you may recall wrote the Billy Connolly zom-com Fido.

The Best Man is a film directed by Shane Dax Taylor starring Brendan Fehr, Dolph Lundgren and Luke Wilson.
The Best Man: an 80s style action movie that brings back some nostalgia, piety and the best feelings.
80s action returns to rescue one of its lesser-known myths, Dolph Lundgren.
One of those action movies in which, mysteriously, we all agree there’s something missing.

The Best Man is one of those bad action movies, a B-series video store film from which, deep down, we still try to get something good, especially due to the nostalgia that Dolph Lundgren brings us and the Die Hard-style eighties classicism that the whole set exhales, from its borrowed script to its protagonists, who also seem taken from another era in which cinema, at least, seemed different.

"What are your daughter's lives worth to you?" Saban Films has launched an official trailer for an action thriller titled The Best Man, which is a bit of a goofy name for an intense action flick this. But maybe that will help make it stand out? Or not... In this gun-filled thriller, mercenaries seize control of a remote resort hotel during a wedding. It's now up to the best man, the groom and their drunken best friend to stop the terrorists and save the hostages. That pitch sounds like it's Die Hard meets The Hangover, but this trailer doesn't look like either of those at all. The Best Man stars Brendan Fehr, Nicky Whelan, Scout Taylor-Compton, Scott Martin, with Dolph Lundgren and Luke Wilson. What a strange cast. This film looks remarkably generic and bland, same as most action films do these days. It seems like they just took over...

For audiences, television is entertainment, but for the companies behind the scenes, TV is big business. From the late '20s through the early '80s, American Broadcasting Company (ABC), National Broadcasting Company (NBC), and Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) had no lasting competition and they ruled the television landscape. In their heyday, the big three produced loads of classics like "The Three Stooges," "The Lone Ranger," "Gunsmoke," "Howdy Doody," "The Ed Sullivan Show," and "Bonanza," just to name a few. I've never seen an entire episode of any of those shows, but I recognize their names and know, generally, what they are about, which proves they have a firm foothold in popular culture. Cementing such a place in entertainment history is something every television show hopes to do, but doing so got a lot harder in the '90s.

"Don't worry, I'm built for this." Saban Films has unveiled the official trailer for action crime thriller The Commando, another forgettable formulaic action feature to ignore because all of these films are the same nowadays. A DEA agent with Ptsd returns home after a botched mission and must now protect his family from a home invasion after a recently freed convict and his henchmen come back for their stash of millions hidden inside the agent's home. "Stakes are high and lives are at risk in this head-to-head battle as the agent stops at nothing to protect his family against the money-hungry criminals." Why do they always recycle the same "protect your home because they want the money" plot over and over? The Commando stars Mickey Rourke and Michael Jai White, with Jeff Fahey, Brendan Fehr, John Enos III, Donald Cerrone, and Gianni Capaldi. At least the action doesn't look so bad in this film.

If you're the kind of person who races to Rotten Tomatoes before you give a movie the time of day, then you probably think Wander isn't worth your time.
After reading this review of April Mullen's interpretation of Tim Doiron's script, you might be persuaded to give the film another chance.
Not only is the story unique, but it's brought to life by an all-star cast. When a group of actors like this assembles for a low-budget film, it's worth considering that they saw something special in the material.
Although it will be tough, I will do my best not to spoil too much of the movie here in the review.
The more you know about the story's particulars, the less likely you will be surprised by what unfolds before you. This isn't the kind of movie that you'll enjoy if you know too much.

A “Jacob’s Ladder”-ish paranoid thriller arriving just in time to find conspiracy theories plunked right in the middle of post-election American politics, “Wander” only muddies the water further. This latest collaboration between director April Mullen and writer Tim Doiron offers yet another unpredictable shift, but pushes its idiosyncrasies off a cliff before establishing any narrative terra firma.
There is some pleasure to be had in watching an atypically frenetic Aaron Eckhart as a Ptsd-afflicted loner wading deep into possibly-imagined evildoings in the Southwest, with Tommy Lee Jones and Heather Graham also welcome as two allies. Still, the film’s hyperbolic style and convoluted storytelling tend to exhaust patience rather than build intrigue, making for a muddle whose too-many twists and turns ultimately seem meaningless as well as implausible. Saban Films is releasing the Canadian co-production to American audiences via digital, on demand and available theaters Dec. 4.

"We're pinning down the truth." Saban Films has unveiled a trailer for a small town mystery thriller titled Wander, from filmmaker April Mullen. This just premiered at the Deauville Film Festival in France, but that's the only place it has screened. Aaron Eckhart stars as a mentally unstable private detective hired to investigate a suspicious death in the small town of Wander. He soon believes the murder may be linked to the death of his daughter and a "conspiracy cover up". From the looks of it, there may be some truth to this but not everything is what it seems. The film also stars Raymond Cruz, Katheryn Winnick, Heather Graham, Brendan Fehr, Nicole Steinwedell, with Tommy Lee Jones. This looks like so many other dusty small town crime thrillers, but at least Eckhart has a grizzled, unhinged character to dig into this time. "I can't remember a time when I wasn't driven by rage." Vertical Entertainment has debuted a trailer for an action thriller titled Daughter of the Wolf, a new film made by production designer / filmmaker David Hackl (director of Saw V and Life on the Line). The film stars Gina Carano, who we haven't seen much of in cinema recently, but she's back as a badass in another action roll. Carano plays Clair Hamilton, a "military specialist" who returns home to claim her inheritance only to find that her son has been kidnapped. She must hunt down the mysterious leader of the gang holding him for ransom. Simple as that. The film's full cast includes Richard Dreyfuss, Brendan Fehr, Sydelle Noel, Brock Morgan, and Stew McLean. This looks as bland and derivative as they come, but it still somehow might entice a few interested viewers. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster...

Once a Roswell resident always a Roswell resident. Brendan Fehr, the original Michael Guerin, posted a pic on Twitter of a small reunion with some Roswell castmates including Jason Behr, Nick Wechsler, and Majandra Delfino on Tuesday, writing, "Turns out we still kinda like each other." Behr played Max Evans, Wechsler played Kyle Valenti, and Delfino played Maria DeLuca in the 1999 series, which ran on both The WB and Upn for three seasons. Shiri Appleby, Katherine Heigl, and Colin Hanks all also starred, but were apparently not present for this little reunion. The CW recently debuted a new version of Roswell, based on the same book series but set 10 years after high school...

Roswell, New Mexico is largely a carbon copy of the original, and full of faces you'll recognize.
This Roswell, New Mexico review contains spoilers.
Roswell, New Mexico Episode 1 Review
Roswell, New Mexico. It’s one of those places so iconic, so singularly famous for one specific thing that it doesn’t even warrant an explanation. Back in 1999, it was the show that launched the careers of Shiri Applebee, Katherine Heigl, Colin Hanks (not that he needed launching), and several other faces you know, even if their names are less familiar, like Nick Wechsler, Brendan Fehr, and Emilie de Ravin (Lost). And now, 20 years and a few changes later, it’s back.
Notably, Roswell, New Mexico isn’t a sequel to 1999’s Roswell. Even though everyone is roughly 10 years older, and the original show took place 10 years ago, these events--namely the inciting incidents of Liz’s death and revival and the...
