The Classic Sci-Fi Western That Paved The Way For Westworld And Firefly
Image
As Hollywood acclimated to the talkie era in the early 1930s, studios leaned heavily on the aural majesty of musicals and the rat-a-tat bliss of screwball comedies to dazzle audiences. The future of motion picture entertainment had arrived almost overnight, and filmmakers were fairly certain they knew what moviegoers wanted to hear. When it came to non-spoken sound, people lined up to hear bullets bang and whiz in both gangster movies and Westerns; they were blown through the back of the theater by the ferocity of King Kong's roar and scared silly by the screams of Count Dracula's victims.

The still young science-fiction genre should've thrived in the early sound era, but the studios and the public generally viewed the dream-big tales of Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, and Edgar Rice Burroughs as kids' stuff. Though Fritz Lang's 1927 silent film "Metropolis" is viewed today as a medium-altering masterpiece,...

When Marvel started out making the first Iron Man movie, they might have never imagined they would turn into one of the biggest sensations of modern superhero movies. What started as a standalone superhero movie started to weave out and interconnect multiple universes and movies to captivate fans from all around the world, making it one of the highest-selling movies of all time.

From kids to adults, there is not a single person in the world who doesn’t know what “Love you 3000” means. Marvel and Stan Lee gave some of us the best childhood one can imagine. Be it comic book fans or cinephiles, all have tried to put their hands up and shoot a repulsor beam imitating Iron Man, with the MCU bringing new eyes to the world of comic book literature.

Genndy Tartakovsky’s Original Idea for Dexter’s Laboratory Was a Ballerina Dancer: “I was just doodling this girl”
Image
In the ‘90s golden era of animation, Dexter’s Laboratory surfaced as a far-reaching force: quirky, smart, and different from anything viewers had seen before. But behind the cartoon’ futuristic setting and sibling anarchy lies a much daintier, almost poetic origin story. Genndy Tartakovsky, the maker of the show, did not begin this journey with a boy genius and secrets devices.

In fact, the first spark for the show came from a completely different muse: a ballerina. Brainstorming ideas as a film student, Tartakovsky casually sketched up a lanky girl mid-dance. Little did he know that an unplanned doodle would one day evolve into Dee Dee, and eventually, one of Cartoon Network’s most legendary duos. What started as a mindless doodle of a whimsical ballerina ultimately redefined the direction of modern animation in the cartoon industry.

Ironically, Dee Dee paved the way for Dexter’s Laboratory

The creator of...

Will Poe Dameron's X-Wing Fly Again? Oscar Isaac Addresses Possible Star Wars Reunion With Daisy Ridley
Image
As Lucasfilm moves forward with a new Star Wars film centered on Daisy Ridley's Rey establishing a new Jedi Order 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, speculation is rife about returning characters.

When recently asked by fans if he would reprise his role as Poe Dameron in the "Rey Skywalker" movie, Oscar Isaac offered this response, as seen below.

I Asked Oscar Isaac If He Was Gonna Be In The New Rey Movie pic.twitter.com/euhnEfMhSg

— deadboy | Star Wars | Andor era (@deadboy28) May 8, 2025

As you can see, don't expect to see Poe's X-Wing taking out Tie fighters in the upcoming Rise of Skywalker sequel, although things could always change by the time cameras actually start rolling.

That's not exactly surprising, as Rey and Poe Dameron didn't really interact much. In terms of the new Star Wars trio, it was primarily John Boyega's Finn that acted as the...

True Blood & Star Wars Fan Favorites to Lead Werewolf-Zombie Horror Movie
Image
True Blood star Ryan Kwanten is returning to the world of zombies and werewolves, both of which were heavily featured in the HBO fantasy horror series. The actor is part of the ensemble cast for Dead Howling, which was recently acquired by Kaleidoscope Film Distribution.

Per Deadline, Kwanten — who played Jason Stackhouse in all seven seasons of True Blood — will star in Dead Howling opposite Star Wars fan favorite Temuera Morrison and The Man from Snowy River actor Tom Burlinson. Morrison is best known for playing Jango Fett and his many clones, including his clone son Boba Fett, in the Star Wars universe, as well as Aquaman's father in the DC Extended Universe. Burlinson is best known for his role in the '80s cult film Fresh and Blood, which was directed by Paul Verhoeven, best known as the filmmaker of RoboCop and Total Recall.

Dead Howling, per the official synopsis,...

Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom Needs Avengers’ Help to Fight X-Men: Avengers 5 Report Doesn’t Make a Lot of Sense to Me
Image
Throughout the years, the Avengers have faced countless threats, from alien warlords to cosmic tyrants. But in this, only a few enemies were as brilliant and unpredictable as Doctor Doom. He was a scientific genius who spent his life pursuing absolute power and clashed with heroes like the Fantastic Four and the Avengers time and again.

So, that’s what makes the currently trending theory a bit hard to digest for me. This suggests that for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, Doom is teaming up with the Fantastic Four and the Avengers to defeat the X-Men. Let’s dive deeper.

This Avengers: Doomsday theory about Doctor Doom just doesn’t add up

Fans were taken for a spin when they heard that Robert Downey Jr. was coming to the MCU. But surprisingly not in his Iron Man role, but as the villainous Doctor Doom. While this confused the longtime Tony Stark fans,...

10 Worst Cameos In Marvel Movies & TV Shows
Image
Marvel Studios ruled the cinematic landscape from 2008 until around 2019, thanks in no small part to the novelty of its shared universe, a concept every film studio tried and failed to mimic. Beginning with Jon Favreau's "Iron Man," the Marvel Cinematic Universe successfully propelled popular heroes and villains to the big screen, culminating with enormous blockbuster events in the form of "Avengers" movies, not to mention standout hits like Ryan Coogler's "Black Panther" and Jon Watts' "Spider-Man: No Way Home."

More impressively, the MCU made frequent use of the ultimate gimmick: cameos, often arising during mid-credit scenes, which usually introduced or teased new characters like Thanos (Josh Brolin) and the Collector (Benicio del Toro), who would often go on to play vital roles in later pictures. In fact, one could argue the MCU took off due to Samuel L. Jackson's surprising appearance as Nick Fury in "Iron Man.

Vince Vaughn Drops a Major ‘Bad Monkey’ Season 2 Update [Exclusive]

Vince Vaughn just dropped an update on the future of his new Apple TV+ series, Bad Monkey. Vaughn’s new comedy debuted near the end of last summer to strong reviews, earning a 93% from critics and an 80% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it took Apple TV+ two months after the Season 1 finale to renew the series for Season 2. The show comes from writer/creator Bill Lawrence, who’s also known for his work on Scrubs and, more recently, Ted Lasso. During a recent interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub to promote his new Netflix movie, Nonnas, Vaughn revealed when Bad Monkey Season 2 begins filming, and also how much of the second season has been outlined thus far:

"We will start filming this year. I think they have the outline for the first four episodes. I don't want to give away too much because we kind of left it in...

MCU Canonically Refers to ‘Star Wars,’ And Somehow Nobody Noticed This Galaxy-Sized Plot Hole
Image
There aren’t too many things binding the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Star Wars galaxy. Apart from the fact that the parent companies of both these IPs co-exist under the Walt Disney umbrella. But as anyone could tell, Lucasfilm and Marvel are far more connected than just through ownership.

Now, this isn’t as simple as a Death Star Easter egg in Spider-Man or a cheesy Obi-Wan Kenobi reference from Phil Coulson. Instead, we must look at something called the celebrity paradox.

When a character’s pop culture presence breaks through into other worlds because the actor exists in our minds as someone else from a different universe, that is a celebrity paradox. And no place is this paradox louder than two of Disney’s biggest franchises in the 21st century.

The MCU Spider-Man loves Star Wars, but that’s only the celebrity paradox Ned with the Lego Death...

Bring Toothless Home With This Cursed and Adorable ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ Popcorn Bucket
Image
How to Train Your Dragon is coming to theaters in a few weeks. To prepare for the live-action adaptation of the 2010 Dreamworks film, cinemas are showcasing the collectible popcorn buckets that will be sold on the day. Since this is a family movie, these buckets have to be appropriate for kids, and the first one that popped up did not disappoint.

Regal showcased its limited popcorn bucket for the live-action movie - a Toothless-shaped bucket where popcorn is stored in his mouth. There have been a handful of popcorn buckets that feature grabbing the snack out of characters' mouths and heads. Still, this one manages not to make it look questionable but mostly innocent, which is good because we don't need more explicit viral popcorn buckets (looking at you Dune: Part II and Deadpool & Wolverine). As of writing, the price of this cute dragon bucket has yet to be revealed.

Pedro Pascal Makes a Bold Claim About 'The Mandalorian & Grogu' Ahead of 2026 Release
Image
Of the plethora of Star Wars projects that are in development at Disney, the only one that we know for sure that’s coming out next year is The Mandalorian & Grogu, which has a release date of May 22, 2026. Featuring Pedro Pascal reprising his role as the titular Mando from the beloved series, the film is set at some point between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, and will once again see him and Grogu go on what Pascal calls "one of the best adventures ever made."

Appearing on the red carpet at Star Wars Celebration Japan recently, Pascal was approached by the good folks at IMDb, and discussed a little of what's to come in The Mandalorian & Grogu. He had high praise for both the sets and creator/director Jon Favreau, noting that "the series alone had some of the most incredible sets that I've ever seen in my life,...

All 36 MCU Movies Ranked
Image
Most of Marvel Studios’s films are the cinematic equivalent of breadcrumbs, which have been dropped into theaters strategically so as to keep one looking for the next sequel or crossover, when the endless televisual exposition will eventually, theoretically yield an event of actual consequence. Occasionally, however, a Marvel film transcends this impersonality and justifies one’s patience. Weird, stylish, and surprisingly lyrical, Ant-Man, Iron Man 3, and Doctor Strange attest to the benefits of the old Hollywood-style studio system that Marvel has resurrected: Under the umbrella of structure and quota is security, which can bequeath qualified freedom. On the occasion of the release of Thunderbolts*, here’s a ranking of every film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to date. Chuck Bowen

Ahsoka Star Rosario Dawson Announces That Filming Is Officially Underway On Season 2 With First BTS Photo
Image
We got word that filming was set to get underway on the second season of Ahsoka last week during Star Wars Celebration Japan, and star Rosario Dawson has now announced that cameras are officially rolling with our first behind-the-scenes production photo.

The shot isn't especially revealing, but it's clear from the shadow that Dawson is in full Ahsoka mode here.

In many ways, Ahsoka served as a live-action fifth season of Star Wars Rebels, and season 2 looks set to introduce even more elements from the fan-favorite animated series, with Zeb Orrelios (presumably voiced by Steve Blum) set to join Ezra (Eman Esfandi), Hera (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Chopper the droid as the Og crew of The Ghost.

Ahmed Best Comments on Kelleran Beq's Star Wars Future as The Mandalorian Season 4 Remains in Limbo
Image
Fans recently saw Star Wars Celebration, which came with heaps of announcements for a galaxy far, far away. There were dozens of guests, from Hayden Christensen to Rosario Dawson and even Ahmed Best.

Best is most famously known for playing Jar Jar Binks, and whilst the hatred he received for the role was extreme, he does understand where it's coming from. Though Best is famous in Star Wars for playing Binks, he appeared in Season 3 of The Mandalorian as Jedi Kelleran Beq, a role he’d be more than happy to revisit.

Beq was a Jedi during the time of Order 66 and, as flashbacks show, he was the one who saved Grogu from the clone troopers. Best had previously appeared as Beq on the live contest show Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge. The Mandalorian redeemed Best, earning him much-deserved love from a fandom that spurned him nearly two decades ago.

The Star Wars Director Who Could Bring Samuel L. Jackson's Mace Windu Back
Image
Could Samuel L. Jackson return as his seemingly-dead-but-maybe-not-really-dead Jedi Master Mace Windu in a future "Star Wars" project? Well, anything could happen but will it happen? That's the better question. For years, Jackson has been absolutely insistent that Mace Windu survived "Revenge of the Sith," despite the fact that he was seemingly killed by Palpatine. What's more, Jackson has expressed a strong desire to reprise his role. Now it seems Bryce Dallas Howard has at least explored the idea of doing something with this long standing idea.

On a recent episode of the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, Howard touched on the idea of possibly directing a "Star Wars" movie. Howard has directed episodes of "The Mandalorian," "The Book of Boba Fett," and "Skeleton Crew," with her name often coming up online as someone who should helm an upcoming movie in a galaxy far, far away. "I would always say yes,...

When Daniel Craig Replaced Robert Downey Jr. In This Big-Budget Film—& It Wasn’t A James Bond Movie
Image
In Which Movie Did Daniel Craig Replace Robert Downey Jr.? ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )

Daniel Craig, well-known for playing the daredevil agent James Bond, had once replaced the Oscar-winning actor Robert Downey Jr. as the lead in a big-budget film. And that film was not Casino Royale, the first film in which Daniel Craig’s tryst with 007 began, or any Bond movie. Read on to know which film that was.

The Film In Which Daniel Craig Replaced Robert Downey Jr.

Coming straight to the point, the name of that movie was the sci-fi action thriller Cowboys and Aliens, which came out in 2011. The dashing Knives Out actor bagged the role after Robert Downey Jr. dropped out of the film (as per a report by Deadline).

Cowboys And Aliens Plot

The movie was based on the 2006 graphic novel of the same name, and directed by Jon Favreau. Set in a retro-futuristic setting in the 1870s,...

The Mandalorian Movie Will Make 1 Key Change to Grogu (Confirmed)

Director Jon Favreau teased a massive upgrade for Grogu in The Mandalorian Movie.

Pedro Pascal's chrome-domed bounty hunter and his adorable Force-wielding sidekick will return in 2026's The Mandalorian & Grogu; however, this time, the characters will make their comeback on the big screen for the first time.

The last time fans saw the pair of Star Wars characters, they were setting off on their own after helping Bo Katan reclaim the long-lost planet of Mandalore, and Grogu was coming into his own as a young Jedi learner who is now battle-ready fighting inside the body of a retired Ig-88 unit.

The 7 Best New Movies Streaming on Netflix Right Now
Image
Netflix‘s April film acquisitions include masterpieces from some of the most revered Hollywood directors of the past 50 years, including Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese and Michael Mann. Whether you are in the mood for Nolan’s best superhero film or Mann’s greatest crime thriller, Netflix has whatever its subscribers may be looking for in April. That is to say nothing, either, of the pair of timeless sports dramas that the streaming service also added to its platform this month.

Here are TheWrap’s picks for the seven best movies that have started streaming on Netflix in April.

“The Dark Knight” (Warner Bros. Pictures) “The Dark Knight” (2008)

Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” is still considered by many to be the peak of the superhero genre, and for good reason. Nolan’s 2008 sequel to 2005’s “Batman Begins” is a propulsive, gripping crime thriller that doubles as a battle of wills...

‘Sinners,’ ‘Starfighter,’ and the Night That Drove a Stake Through Hollywood’s Love Affair with Mediocrity
Image
Last Thursday night, moviegoers across this godforsaken land rabidly made their way to the nearest multiplex — or pilgrimaged across state lines to the closest theater capable of projecting 15-Perf IMAX 70mm film — in order to see early screenings of the first original blockbuster from a gifted filmmaker whose fame has been predicated upon his ability to put a strong personal stamp on increasingly generic Hollywood franchises.

At that very same time, halfway around the world, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni took the stage at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Chiba, Japan to announce that the next chapter of cinema’s most iconic saga would be directed by a filmmaker whose fame has been predicated upon his ability to be friends with Ryan Reynolds.

The movie business has always been held aloft by the tension between genuine pop artistry and mass-produced slop, two separate but hopelessly entwined...

‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ Takes Pride As No. 9 Most Valuable Blockbuster Of 2024
Image
Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament has returned, and as you’ll see from the most profitable films of 2024, a movie’s game doesn’t end at the box office. Rather, its downstream revenues and subsequent home windows must be taken into account. Streaming continues to be a wildcard: While traditional motion picture studios such as Disney, Warner Bros, Sony, Paramount and Universal rely on lucrative pay two and pay three streamer deals to catapult their slates into the black, those streamers who’ve embraced theatrical (specifically Amazon MGM Studios and Apple Original Films) have a clandestine metric as to how they evaluate a movie’s post-cinema success. By traditional studio P&l standards, some of those releases would be considered flops. Given that, Apple and Amazon are excluded from this year’s survey. The Most Valuable Blockbuster series runs later rather than sooner as we gather the best data possible...

Robert Downey Jr., Keanu Reeves and Brad Pitt, All Lost to 1 Actor in the Race for a $152 Million Action Movie
Image
Failure is the stepping stone to success, but we haven’t thought that even Hollywood’s juggernauts like Brad Pitt, Robert Downey Jr., and Keanu Reeves would occasionally stumble while climbing the ladder of stardom? Back in the early ‘90s, a $152 million action-packed ride called Backdraft beckoned these iconic actors with the lure of an adrenaline-fueled lead role.

Didn’t we all assume that the path to their success was a bed of roses? Alas, the auditions were a doozy, and the trio found themselves in the unusual position of watching William Baldwin snag the role instead. Makes us wonder if failure, in Tinseltown, is just another rite of passage, like bad haircuts in high school.

Back in the early ’90s, Backdraft wasn’t just another studio action flick—it was Ron Howard’s baby.

Will The Mandalorian Season 4 Follow The Mandalorian And Grogu Movie? Filmmaker Jon Favreau Weighs In
Image
The Mandalorian season 4 was supposed to go into production before 2023's Hollywood strikes. Scripts had been written, but the downtime saw Disney decide Din Djarin and Grogu's next adventure should be a feature instead.

Given their popularity and the way season 3 ended, it's not overly surprising that Disney is looking to cash in on The Mandalorian's success by shifting focus from streaming subscribers to box office revenue.

It's also been over six years since The Rise of Skywalker. So, getting Star Wars back into theaters, after Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy essentially turned it into a small screen property, has become a priority for Disney CEO Bob Iger.

Starting with two hugely popular characters is a smart move, but as of now, we don't know what the future holds in store for them both beyond The Mandalorian and Grogu movie coming to theaters next year. For example, is the...

Hayden Christensen Teases Darth Vader Stories After Revenge Of The Sith
Image
Hayden Christensen loves playing Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader. He famously played Anakin in the prequel Star Wars trilogy in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. He also reprised the role of Anakin and Darth Vader for season one of Ahsoka in which he appeared as a very realistic force ghost that dueled Ahsoka and showed some flashbacks of the Clone Wars.

After Christensen confirmed his appearance in Ahsoka season two at the Star Wars Celebration in Japan, fans were ecstatic for his return. Now, he's spoken with ComicBook to talk about more potential stories for Darth Vader.

“There’s a lot that we could still explore with Vader. I think from where we left off, after Episode III, and everything that he has to reconcile after he’s trapped in this new version of himself, there’s just a lot of very rich stories that we could still tell.

The Mandalorian: Where does Season 4 stand after Jon Favreau's latest update?
Image
The Mandalorian and Grogu panel was one of the highlights at Star Wars Celebration this week, thanks to appearances by Pedro Pascal and Grogu. However, creator Jon Favreau didn't offer any updates about where The Mandalorian stands after its main characters are a year away from their big screen debut.

During an interview by ComicBook.com at Star Wars Celebration, Favreau was asked if Din and Grogu would return to Disney+ for a Season 4 or would only be seen in theaters from now on. He said, "I can't really speak to that right now" because "Right now, I’m focused on the film, and that’s gonna be coming out Memorial Day of ’26."

The status of Mando Season 4 has been a question mark since the movie was announced last year. Some sources maintain that it's still in development, and others...

The Star Wars universe is expanding again, for better or worse
Image
The Star Wars franchise has been on an up-and-down ride since Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012. 2015's The Force Awakens was a huge success liked by just about everyone, but follow-up films The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker were far more divisive. Rogue One was a hit movie that led to a hit TV series in Andor, possibly the best thing to come out of the franchise in years. Solo was a disappointing movie that inspired a Lando Calrissian spinoff series that never happened, one of many Star Wars projects that were announced but fizzled out for one reason or another. The Mandalorian is a hit TV show, The Acolyte got canceled after one season. We still don't know if Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will be back for a second season. It's a bit of a madhouse.

The second and final season of Star Wars: Andor premieres tonight on Disney+.

Disney+ Once Avoided Traditional Showrunners — Hiring ‘Lost’ Vet Carlton Cuse for a New ‘Star Wars’ Show Just Ended That Era
Image
One bit of hiring for Disney+ seems to all but signal the end of the platform’s initial ethos when it came to staffing its shows.

Longtime TV veteran Carlton Cuse, best known for his years showrunning “Lost” alongside Damon Lindelof, will be showrunning a new “Star Wars” series alongside his son Nick Cuse, according to The InSneider. The elder Cuse has been creating shows since “The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.” in 1993, going on to create “Nash Bridges,” “Martial Law,” and “Bates Motel” in addition to his acclaimed work on “Lost.”

Disney+ has not returned IndieWire’s request for comment.

It seems likely that this new “Star Wars” series, like every “Star Wars” series to date, would stream on Disney+. At its launch in 2019, and for several years thereafter there seemed to be a desire to avoid traditional TV showrunners at the streamer.

“The Mandalorian,” the platform’s launch series,...

New Star Wars TV Show in the Works With Lost Showrunner
Image
Ahead of the premiere of the second season of Andor, it's been revealed that another Star Wars TV series is entering development. The series will include the involvement of Carlton Cuse, known in part for his work as a co-showrunner on the hit series Lost.

Per Variety, a Star Wars series is in the works with Cuse and his son, Nick Cuse. Beyond the news that the father-son duo will be developing the project, not much else is yet known about the Star Wars show. No plot details have been revealed, nor has there been any information shared about which characters might appear. It's not even known where in the Star Wars timeline the series will be set.

This is also not the first time a Lost alum has spearheaded a Star Wars project. J.J. Abrams, a Lost co-creator, previously directed 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Kathleen Kennedy Addresses the Hard Task of Making 'Star Wars' Movies
Image
Kathleen Kennedy has been at the forefront of Lucasfilm for 13 years, and she has had some huge successes and some devastating failures during that time. The Star Wars franchise has soared to new heights and crashed and burned time and time again thanks to unplanned changes, disjointed storytelling, and some errors of judgment when it comes to what fans actually want to see compared to what creatives think they want to see.

Reflecting on her career at Lucasfilm with ScreenRant during Star Wars Celebration, Kennedy explained how taking over the reins at Lucasfilm was an eye-opening experience for someone who, until that point, had been a filmmaker but not a studio executive. She said:

“I stepped into this never having really been an executive before. I've always been a filmmaker, and I was very intrigued to have a peek behind the curtain. And I've learned a tremendous amount … I've been...

'Mandalorian & Grogu' Creators Tease Popcorn Bucket for 'Star Wars' Film
Image
Fans found themselves inundated with plenty of juicy updates and breaking news over the weekend coming out of the 2025 edition of Star WarsCelebration, which was held this year in Tokyo. Creator George Lucas’ galaxy far, far away continues to expand exponentially with content, and one of the high points of the three-day event came when The Mandalorian and Grogutook center stage in Japan. However, while creator Jon Favreau revealed plenty of exciting details, particularly within the new footage shown to those in attendance, the movie’s writer and director admits that his team has yet to address what kind of popcorn bucket(s) will accompany the streaming series’ move to the big screen. Favreau said in an interview with Collider:

"That's a great question that has not been reached yet [...] The subject has not been broached yet. I mean, Star Wars, as you could see from walking the floor,...

Hayden Christensen and Rebels fan-favorites to return for Ahsoka season 2
Image
We got a glimpse of what to expect from Ahsoka season 2 at the Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. Rosario Dawson, who plays the titular character, joined showrunners Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau on the Live! Stage and discussed, among other things, the stories and characters of the second season.

Filoni announced that they will start filming season 2 in a week. Before Filoni delved into more details, Dawson confirmed that Hayden Christensen was returning as Anakin Skywalker. She reminisced about being in acting school with Christensen (which was also attended by Scarlett Johansson) and how naturally their real-life longtime friendship translated on the screen as everyone's beloved Skyguy and Snips.

However, Filoni made it very clear that he was not trying to tell more stories about Anakin. His inclusion in Ahsoka stems entirely from him being her former master.

"A very clear line I draw for myself is that Anakin's story was already told.

The Mandalorian Season 4 Gets Discouraging Update From Jon Favreau
Image
Jon Favreau is one of the minds behind the hit TV series, The Mandalorian, which has been one of the most successful Star Wars projects in the past several years. Recently, the series creator discussed the future of the show, especially considering the upcoming release of a spin-off feature film in 2026.

In an interview with Collider, Favreau discussed The Mandalorian's jump to the big screen with The Mandalorian & Grogu. During Star WarsCelebration in Japan, Favreau said, "Right now, I'm focusing on the feature because we still have another year of the story. You discover so much as you edit a film and put it together with visual effects. Right now we're really locked in on the big screen story that's coming." Clearly, Favreau's attention is on the film project at the moment, which means there will be no Season 4 in the near future – if at all. However, it could...

‘Star Wars’ Celebration 2025: All the biggest announcements you might have missed
Image
Andor will end with its already-acclaimed second season, but there are still plenty of Star Wars stories on the horizon. This year’s iteration of the semi-annual Star Wars Celebration convention, which took place in Tokyo, Japan over the weekend, gave plenty of star-studded updates on both fan-favorite Star Wars projects and new, previously unannounced installments. Here’s a roundup of what you may have missed.

What did we learn about existing Star Wars shows and movies at Celebration 2025?

Disney+ shows abound, but the last theatrically-released Star Wars movie remains 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. That will change next year with The Mandalorian and Grogu, a cinematic conclusion to Disney+’s first original series directed by series creator Jon Favreau, who was on hand at Celebration to promote the movie alongside his creative collaborator Dave Filoni and stars Pedro Pascal (reprising his role as the titular Mandalorian bounty hunter Djin...

The Mandalorian & Grogu's Jon Favreau Explains Why Jeremy Allen White's Rotta the Hutt Looks So Different From Jabba
Image
The Mandalorian & Grogu director Jon Favreau has explained why Jeremy Allen White's Rotta the Hutt looks different from his more illustrious Star Wars counterpart, Jabba. White's character, who first appeared in 2008's Star Wars: The Clone Wars as Rotta the Huttlet, is the spawn of the infamous intergalactic crime lord.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Favreau discussed the evolution of the Hutts through the Star Wars Extended Universe and how they landed on Rotta's more muscle-bound design. "I think it was important for us to have an image because everybody...We definitely draw inspiration from Extended Universe, and the Hutts are just an interesting group," he began. "And they were explored slightly in the, you know, through Jabba and what we saw when we were growing up. But then, with Filoni and animation, they really delved into it. And then, of course, all the accompanying materials, like the comics,...

Dave Filoni Says "All Out" War Is Coming In Ahsoka Season Two
Image
The Star Wars Celebration event in Japan dropped tons of big news for fans of the sci-fi franchise. A Darth Maul animated series was announced along with other animated series, Star Wars: Starfighter, Shawn Levy's movie starring Ryan Gosling was announced, and more.

On top of that, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau spent a significant amount of time talking about the second season of Ahsoka. Exciting news included the returns of several characters, including the return of Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker.

However, the most exciting revelations regarding Ahsoka season two come in the form of story details from Dave Filoni. It sounds like this season will feature even more action than the first season. Filoni said the first half of the season will feature an “all out” war.

“I'll just say what it is ‘cause they came all this way, and I know what they really want to...

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni don't want to let fans down with Mandalorian movie popcorn bucket
Image
In May 2026, the highly anticipated Star Wars film, The Mandalorian & Grogu, hits theaters. While this is certain to dominate the summer box office next year, there is already an internal debate brewing.

It's not about casting or the director's vision. The debate isn't about Grogu's Force powers or how Din Djarin will caretake for the growing Force-sensitive explorer. This discussion between director Jon Favreau and his co-writer for the screenplay Dave Filoni is much more sensitive.

"What popcorn bucket should this movie market to fans?"

Primarily among novelty audiences, movie-themed popcorn buckets have become remarkably popular. They are now collectors' items or an attuned souvenir that helps fans reflect on the latest superhero, science-fiction, or fantasy film. Of course, the purpose of these unique popcorn buckets is an economic driver for the movie chain, but now the inspiration for these feast barrels has become the stuff of legend.

Steven Spielberg Was Offered The Chance To Launch Superhero Cinema As We Know It
Image
Steven Spielberg is a man who needs no introduction. With his career spanning six decades, his films' impact on the industry and in modern popular culture cannot be overstated. From the biggest blockbusters such as "Jaws" and "Jurassic Park" to the smaller character-driven films such as "The Color Purple" and most recently, "The Fabelmans," fewer filmmakers have accomplished his level of influence in so many genres of cinema. With 23 Oscar nominations and 3 wins, and a filmography that has grossed $10.7 billion at the global box office making him the highest-grossing film director of all-time, there is almost nothing he cannot accomplish.

In his decorated career, Steven Spielberg has also had his share of unrealized projects. One of those projects includes an adaptation of the sci-fi novel "Robopocalypse," which was to be written by "Cabin in the Woods" co-writer/director Drew Goddard and had Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway attached to star.

Jon Favreau 'disappointed' The Mandalorian was not initially on the big screen
Jon Favreau "felt disappointed" that 'The Mandalorian' could not initially be shared on the big screen. The 58-year-old filmmaker is directing, and co-writing with Dave Filoni, 'The Mandalorian and Grogu’, a feature-length film of the Disney+ series that he created and said making a movie has given him more opportunities than he had on TV.Although he is "very proud" of what the show has become, Jon always thought it "felt cinematic".He explained to Collider.com: "The big difference is the amount of construction you can do. "The process is so long compared to television that you can plan, look at it, discuss, use multiple stages, indoor and outdoor sets, do construction, you can do stop-motion. "There are a lot of things that you have an opportunity to do because of the timeframe that you would never be able to do to the same extent on a small screen.

Jon Favreau Discusses Whether 'The Mandalorian' TV Series Is Over [Exclusive]
Image
As The Mandalorian prepares to make the leap from Disney+ to the big screen, series creator Jon Favreau has opened up about what lies ahead for Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu — and whether their journey will continue in episodic form. Speaking to Collider’s Steve Weintraub on the red carpet at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Japan, Favreau revealed that the priority right now is The Mandalorian and Grogu, the upcoming feature film arriving in theaters on May 22, 2026.

"Right now, I'm focusing on the feature because we still have another year of the story. You discover so much as you edit a film and put it together with visual effects. Right now we're really locked in on the big screen story that's coming."

That means fans shouldn’t expect a Season 4 anytime soon — or possibly, at all. While Favreau didn’t explicitly say the series was finished, he confirmed that...

Why Shawn Levy Is the Right Person to Direct a 'Star Wars' Movie
Image
Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy has opened up about the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter, the movie being worked on by Stranger Things director Shawn Levy that will star Ryan Gosling and arrive in cinemas in 2027. During this year’s Star Wars Celebration, Kennedy shared some insight into why Levy was the right person to make a Star Wars movie in this new era of the near-50-year-old franchise.

As far as many fans are concerned, the Star Wars franchise has mostly been failing for years if not decades. There are some that even believe everything other than the original sacred trilogy should be wiped from existence. However, for Kennedy, the future now has several big risky projects in the pipeline to bring about a new vision of what Star Wars could be. One of the first parts of that vision is Levy’s movie, and the Lucasfilm president believes that the...

The Force Is Strong With This Writer! Kathleen Kennedy Reveals The Pen Behind Taika Waititi’s Star Wars Film
Image
The Star Wars Celebration event in Japan may have concluded, but exciting news concerning that infamous galaxy far, far away continues to trickle in.

Screen Rant had the opportunity to speak with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy at the event, and she offered a promising update on the long-awaited Star Wars film being helmed by the award-winning Taika Waititi.

While fans eagerly anticipate Waititi's unique vision for the franchise, Kennedy clarified that the primary factor delaying the start of production is the director's own busy schedule.

"Taika is on Taika time," Kennedy playfully admitted to to the site. "I’ve just continually said to him, look, when you feel that you’re ready and you can really devote the time, we’re going to do it. We’ll be waiting. I’m just hoping we get there. That will be a great Star Wars movie."

Adding an intriguing layer to the project,...
