Ender's Game Plummets on Second Weekend in North America: Sequel Chances?
‘Ender’s Game’ movie to go the way of ‘John Carter,’ ‘The Golden Compass’? (Photo: Ben Kingsley and Asa Butterfield in ‘Ender’s Game’) Directed by Gavin Hood and starring Asa Butterfield and Harrison Ford, Ender’s Game is going the way of Andrew Stanton’s John Carter and Chris Weitz’s The Golden Compass at the domestic box office. After opening with a disappointing $27.01 million last weekend (including Thursday evening shows), the $110 million-budgeted was down a whopping 62% this past weekend, November 8-10, 2013, collecting a paltry $10.25 million from 3,407 theaters (no reduction in number of venues) according to box office actuals found at Box Office Mojo. One can blame Alan Taylor’s Thor: The Dark World, but the action fantasy starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston wasn’t the sole culprit. After all, Ender’s Game was already trailing both Last Vegas and Bad Grandpa last Thursday. After two weekends,...

Despite Controversy Surrounding Anti-Gay Author Card, Ender's Game to Top Domestic Box Office - But Are Sequels Likely?
‘Ender’s Game’ movie box office: Adaptation of sci-fi novel by controversial anti-gay author Orson Scott Card tops (modest) domestic box office chart — but will that be enough to spawn a film franchise? (Photo: Asa Butterfield in ‘Ender’s Game’) Written and directed by Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Best Foreign Language Film Oscar winner Tsotsi), and featuring Asa Butterfield (the star in Martin Scorsese’s Hugo), Best Actor Oscar nominee Harrison Ford (Witness), Best Actor Oscar winner Ben Kingsley (Gandhi), two-time Oscar nominee Viola Davis (Doubt, The Help), and Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominees Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) and Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit), the futuristic adventure drama Ender’s Game will easily top the North American box office chart this weekend, November 1-3, 2013. The Summit Entertainment / Lionsgate Pictures release is based on the 1985 novel (itself based on a 1977 short story/novella) by Orson Scott Card, an outspoken author...

Review of Ender's Game Film Adaptation: As Complex as Allowed in Today's Hollywood (Not Exactly a Compliment)
‘Ender’s Game’ movie review: Sci-fier displays ‘steel-grey self-seriousness,’ but fails to explore ‘disturbing brutality’ at its core (photo: Asa Butterfield and Abigail Breslin in ‘Ender’s Game’) Orson Scott Card’s sci-fi novel Ender’s Game was published in 1985, and in the 28 years that elapsed before the book became a film, the idea of children trained to fight by orders of an unfeeling government has been repeatedly co-opted, most notably by a certain tale of a beautiful young archer named Katniss. Indeed, comparisons between Ender’s Game and The Hunger Games are inevitable, but the key similarity between the two is that neither film really explores or, in the case of The Hunger Games, even acknowledges the disturbing brutality that lies at the core of their intricately-constructed worlds. To its credit, Ender’s Game, under the clean, straightforward direction of Gavin Hood (one of the X-Men movies, it’s...

We haven't really seen a lot from Gavin Hood's big screen adaptation Ender's Game, but today we bring you the official logos that will be used for the Battle School Army including Salamander Army, Dragon Army, Rat Army, and Asp Army.

The logos come from the following four Ender's Game fan sites... Ender Wiggin, Ender News, Ender's Ansible, and Ender's Game Fansite. I can't wait to see how this movie turns out! I'm a big fan of the books, and I hope to hell they get it right for the movie.

The movie comes out on November 1st, 2013, and here's the synopsis:

In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and...

James Horner to Score Ender's Game Movie!
Movie composer James Horner will be scoring the upcoming Gavin Hood-directed adaptation of Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game. Horner has created scores for films such as Braveheart, Titanic, Avatar, Troy, and several other films. The guy is great at what he does, and I love listening to the movie musical scores he creates. I'm sure he'll come up with some great music for Ender's Game.

In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.

Ender's Game to be Released in IMAX
Lionsgate has confirmed that the Gavin Hood directed adaptation of Orsen Scott Card's classic sci-fi story Ender's Game will be getting an IMAX release. I wouldn't expect anything less, at least parts of the movie should have been shot in IMAX.

The highly anticipated movie will be released on November 1st, 2013, making it the second IMAX release from the studio that month. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is also being released in November of that year on the 22nd, only it will include scenes actually shot with IMAX cameras.

The studio is very excited about this franchise, there's 14 books in the series, which means if this first movie does well, they have the potential to make a lot of movies. I'm very excited about this movie and I hope it turns out to be the incredible film adaptation we've all been waiting for.

Arthur Weasley on ‘Who’, ‘Percy Jackson’ sequel release date, casting on ‘Arrow’ & “Ender’s’
Work has begun on Doctor Who’s 7th season, and while there are tons of unsubstantiated rumors as to where this season is going, conversations between writers, directors and cast via Tweets and interviews can give fans in search of news (was there ever a time when we let shows unwind without knowing all the spoilers beforehand?) some hope. What is confirmed is that Mark Williams, who played Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter films, will guest star in what is probably the second episode of the season. Now what role he’s playing is up for debate, but the owner of the private house where filming is taking place has tweeted that her house contains photos of Rory and Amy, and both Arthur Darvil and Karen Gillan and Williams are filming together. Which could mean that Williams is probably playing Rory’s Dad, as the actors look similar.

‘Ender’s Game’ Casts Three More Adult Players
After more than a decade’s worth of stunted starts and partial collapses, a cinematic adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s decorated sci-fi novel, Ender’s Game is finally ready to begin production. Cameras will start rolling on the project this month in Louisiana, with Gavin Hood (Tsotsi, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) directing an overall admirable cast and working from his own adapted screenplay.

The (presumably) last major casting update for Ender’s Game has been announced, revealing that lesser-knowns Stevie Ray Dallimore (Far from Heaven, The Messenger) and Andrea Powell (The Gates, the upcoming Breaking Dawn – Part 2) have been cast as the title character’s parents. Meanwhile, increasingly-popular character actor Nonso Anozie has signed for a more significant part in the film.

Anozie is a Londoner who most recently appeared onscreen aside Liam Neeson in The Grey, though ...
