Fans of Happy Endings will soon have a way to relive the moments from the show.
Casey Wilson and costar Adam Pally will co-host a Happy Endings rewatch podcast, premiering next week, People reports.
“We interviewed everybody and it’s so dumb and so silly. It’s really ridiculous,” says Wilson, who publicist Penny Hartz in the ABC sitcom during its three-season run.
Happy Endings starred Wilson, Pally, Eliza Coupe, Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton and Damon Wayans Jr. The series followed the six as best friends living in Chicago. It ended in 2014.
There is some hope of a revival, Wilson said, although business complications are making that a slow process.
“Which couldn’t be more boring,” she says.

Fire up the ribs, alert the staff at Rosita’s and wake up Chad the underwear monster because the curse of Penny’s birthday has been lifted! A soul-killing 11 years ago this month, the world lost one of the greatest TV comedies to ever be mistreated by a network: Happy Endings. After three seasons and probably twice as many time-slot changes, the eminently quotable, easily rewatchable ABC sitcom created by David Caspe delivered its traditional season-finale wedding episode. At the time, none of us knew that it would be the last we’d see of Chicago hot mess Penny Hartz, her gay bestie Max Blum (Knuckles‘ Adam Pally) and unrequited crush Dave Rose (Zachary Knighton), his on-off girlfriend Alex Kerkovich (Elisha Cuthbert), her sister Jane (Eliza Coupe) and brother-in-law Brad Williams (Damon Wayans Jr.). But like the sun blasting through your drawn shades, three days after going into ...

This post contains spoilers for "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" episode 4, "Parallels and Interiors."
The Monsterverse is coming up on a decade now, dating back to director Gareth Edwards' "Godzilla" in 2014. But in all of those years, the human characters in the franchise have often left much to be desired. Fortunately, the Monsterverse has finally figured out this piece of the puzzle. The key? Kurt Russell. "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" is currently in the midst of its first season on Apple TV+ and Russell's character Lee Shaw is easily the best human character we've had against the backdrop of this world of monsters.
In nine years of the Monsterverse, we've had some extremely memorable monster action, including one heck of a showdown between Godzilla and King Kong in 2021's aptly named "Godzilla vs. Kong." The humans? That's a different story. Oftentimes, these characters feel like vehicles that are just driving us toward the next monster showdown.

On Nov. 6, 2001, the Kiefer Sutherland-starrer from Imagine Television bowed on Fox in the 9 p.m. hour, kickstarting a franchise that aired for more than a decade. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:
No question, there are some eerie similarities between the premiere episode of 24 and the terrible events of Sept 11. The tightly woven drama includes vague warnings of terrorist activity, an assassination plot and an imperiled airliner. But instead of causing discomfort, 24 grabs you by the collar and simply won’t let go. Few shows are ever this riveting.
A creation of exec producers Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, 24 employs a couple of novel but extremely effective story telling techniques. First, it unravels its story in real time, with each hour on the screen representing an hour in the life of its characters. Second, it makes frequent use of split-screen shots, showing different angles of the same...

ABC’s ratings-challenged Happy Endings created a cult following thanks to its relatable stories about a group of friends in their late 20s and early 30s. While the comedy helped to launch the careers of stars Eliza Coupe (Jane), Elisha Cuthbert (Alex), Zachary Knighton (Dave), Adam Pally (Max), Damon Wayans Jr. (Brad) and Casey Wilson (Penny), behind the scenes, the Sony-produced series created by David Caspe was effectively its own showrunner training program. As Rutherford Falls creator Sierra Teller Ornelas revealed in a recent Twitter thread, Happy Endings had 23 writers over its three seasons, with an incredible 21 — including assistants — becoming showrunners.
During this week’s TV’s Top 5 podcast, hosts Lesley Goldberg and Daniel Fienberg reunite 14 of the Happy Endings writers to build off Ornelas’ thread and discuss, in light of the ongoing Writers Guild strike, the benefits of having a traditional writers rooms, why having writers on set...

This article contains spoilers for 24 and episodes 1 and 2 of Rabbit Hole.
Since Keifer Sutherland played one of the most iconic American heroes of television in 24, the established actor has tried to recapture the magic he did as CTU (Counter Terrorism Unit) agent Jack Bauer. With a few short stops on the big screen, Sutherland’s television resume was padded with stints on Designated Survivor, The Fugitive, and The First Lady, often trading in his typical role of saving the president, for playing the commander-in-chief.
Yet nothing matched the audience numbers or spoke to fans as much as his eight-plus seasons on 24. Until now.
While The Fugitive certainly had life or death situations and Designated Survivor had political espionage, they lacked the same kind of intrigue as the Fox drama that started it all. Rabbit Hole seems like a great companion piece for 24 as the twists, turns, and action-centered plot feels...

Warner Bros. Discovery has been in and out of the news a lot lately. From its ruthless new attitude toward its films and shows to its perpetual (yet worrisome) money games, there's reason to be concerned — that is, if you're one to keep tabs on that sort of thing. Recent drama aside though, Warner's streaming platform, HBO Max, still boasts one of the strongest catalogs in the game. Even with the merciless culling and routine roster rotations, there's still a ton of good to discover each month.
March will signal another shake-up for the streaming library: HBO Max will be removing quite a few movies and shows this month. Fortunately, there's still plenty of time to check out some of the best projects before they're gone. Let's take a look at the best movies and shows leaving HBO Max in March.

In this era of so-called peak TV, television networks, cable channels, and streaming services continue to disgorge a head-spinning array of content on a seemingly daily basis. Watching all this content is simply a physical impossibility for one person. Given the sheer volume of television shows competing for viewers' attention, it's not surprising that a select few shows will inevitably rise to the top while others face the cruel axe of cancellation.
Yet this has always been the case since not every TV series deserves to become a hit. However, there have also been many shows that were high-quality but never quite managed to find the audiences that they should have.
This is particularly true when it comes to the situation comedy, which is a genre that dates back to the earliest days of television and has remained a staple with viewers. Some sitcoms, such as "Friends," "Seinfeld," and "The Office,...

Joanna Page has recalled an embarrassing moment from the first ever Love Actually read-through.
The Gavin & Stacey star appears in Richard Curtis’s 2003 Christmas romcom as Judy, a body double working in film.
Her character is required to perform sex scenes alongside fellow actor John (Martin Freeman), but the pair end up striking up a tentative romantic relationship off-camera.
Appearing on Loose Women on Tuesday (13 December), Page admitted that she’d only ever seen the film once.
She then shared a story from the set of the film, when she was sat at the read-through alongside the likes of Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman and Liam Neeson.
“I just remember getting there, I was 23, brand new,” she said. ‘Like, ‘Oh my god, I can’t believe everyone is here.”
She then recalled how everyone was present apart from the women Colin Frissell (Kris Marshall) meets in America, played by January Jones,...

Two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson wants “Love Actually” fans to see both sides now 20 years later.

Love may actually be all around, but it was mostly a white Christmas when it came to 2003 rom-com “Love Actually.”
Writer-director Richard Curtis reflected on the beloved classic film, saying the lack of diversity makes him “feel uncomfortable and a bit stupid” two decades later.
“There are things you’d change but, thank God, society is changing, so my film is bound, in some moments, to feel out of date,” Curtis said in a interview with Diane Sawyer for ABC’s 20th-anniversary special “The Laughter & Secrets of Love Actually: 20 Years Later” (via Entertainment Weekly).

Hapless Sid tries inviting famous one-time pal Elizabeth Banks to his college reunion. Nothing goes to plan – but the film retains real warmth
The Hunger Games’ Elizabeth Banks is an unexpected choice as the muse of this Canadian comedy-drama, adapted from Michael Kun’s pre-social media-era novel about a sadsack software worker’s obsession with Heather Locklear – who, to be honest, was more front-and-centre than Banks in the zeitgeist of her day. Debut director Scott Abramovitch’s gentle film is less a look at digital-age fandom than an affable primer on accepting your own unremarkableness.
Sid Straw (Tony Hale) is pootling along in his job as VP of marketing at a generic firm, waving/drowning on the midlife dating scene, and irritating his sister-in-law Janet (24’s Elisha Cuthbert) with his try-hard perkiness. So when he is called to organise a college reunion, he spies a golden opportunity to bolster his...

The sequel to a beloved British family film, a heavy metal re-release, an Apple title from TIFF and Abigail Disney’s takedown of the American Dream populate the specialty film weekend in a market that may have found sturdier footing ahead of awards season and amid a dearth of blockbuster fare.

Have you ever heard about “The Flying Bandit?” Gilbert Galvan Jr. was a career criminal who managed to – according to the film – rob 59 banks without hurting a single soul. It’s a fascinating story, and now, this tale is featured in the excellent and fun flick, Bandit. The film stars Josh Duhamel as Gilbert, and he is exceptional in the role. The same can be said for the rest of the cast which includes Elisha Cuthbert, Nestor Carbonell, and Mel Gibson. Directed by Allan Ungar and written by Kraig Wenman, this entertaining feature is fast paced, funny, and utterly engaging. There’s nothing like walking into a movie with little knowledge, and coming out a massive fan.
Two days ago, we sat down with Duhamel, Cuthbert, Carbonell, and Ungar to discuss their latest. It was a real treat for me personally, as Josh was one of the first people I interviewed back in Transformers days.

Josh Duhamel's heart has been transformed by his wife Audra Mari. During an exclusive interview with E! News, the actor, 49, shared how he knew the former Miss World America, 28, was the one. "I knew that she was the one early on," he told correspondent Francesca Amiker during an interview with Elisha Cuthbert for their new movie Bandit. "We're perfect for each other. She's an amazing girl. She keeps me grounded. She keeps it real. We're from the same home state and love lake life. We spend a lot of time on the lake together." Josh and Audra tied the knot in their home state of North Dakota on Sept. 10. The model wore an asymmetric A-line gown...

Plot: The true story of Canada’s notorious “Flying Bandit” Gilbert Galvan Jr (Josh Duhamel). A jail escapee from the U.S, Galvan makes his way to Canada and attempts to go straight. But, once he falls in love with a local woman (Elisha Cuthbert Jr) and discovers he has a baby on the way, he turns to bank robbery to make ends meet. To his amazement, he has a natural, uncanny gift for being able to knock over banks without injuring anyone, and once he gets financing from a local tough guy (Mel Gibson), the sky is the limit. For a while anyway…

Yesterday, I posted an excerpt from a recent interview I did with Mel Gibson for his new movie, Bandit, where he optimistically discussed the status of Lethal Weapon 5. The full transcript of the interview will be up tomorrow, but here’s another tease. Everyone knows that at one point, Mel Gibson was offered the role of James Bond, and in my interview, the actor himself explained why he turned it down.
This came about when discussing his new film Bandit, in which Josh Duhamel plays notorious Canadian bank robber Gilbert Galvan Jr. I noted to Gibson that I thought Duhamel was incredible in the movie, but that it’s very different from the usual, more lightweight, romantic roles he gets. Gibson noted that sometimes if someone excels in a genre, they get pigeon-holed, with him fondly remembering Sean Connery and how he couldn’t escape James Bond until he did...

It isn’t every day that you get to speak to one of your childhood heroes on the phone, but that’s precisely what happened to me recently when given the opportunity to interview the one and only Mel Gibson. The legendary star is out promoting a movie he’s in called Bandit, which tells the true story of bank robber Gilbert Galvan Jr (played by Josh Duhamel), who, in the 80s, robbed 59 banks all over Canada with little more than a handful of disguises and some frequent flyer miles. Gibson plays a shady character named Tommy Kay who helps fund his caper; in it, he seems to be having the time of his life. Indeed, Gibson seemed thrilled with how the film turned out and the experience of working with both director Allan Ungar (the famous Uncharted Live Action Fan Film) and Duhamel. We’ll have the full Q...

I own a frankly absurd amount of movies (roughly 5000), and I’m subscribed to several streaming services. In short, I have a lot of films that I haven’t got around to watching immediately to hand. For the past decade plus I’ve been too busy in October to indulge in the Shocktober horror marathons that a lot of my friends do, but as I’m not doing the London Film Festival as press this year, I thought I’d take the opportunity to delve into the back catalogue of horror I’ve had waiting to be watched.
From September 15th until October 30th, I’ll be watching at least one new to me horror film every day, and providing collections of capsule reviews week by week. On Halloween itself, as ever, I’m planning an all day marathon of some of my favourite horror films.

Toronto and Vancouver routinely double as New York City, Chicago and other American cities in Hollywood movies and TV series that tap generous tax credits and currency savings when shot in Canada.
But in what Canadian director Allan Ungar claims is a first, he had to re-create 1980s Ottawa, Vancouver, Toronto, Winnipeg and Edmonton in modern-day Georgia to shoot his bank robber drama Bandit, which stars Josh Duhamel, Elisha Cuthbert, Mel Gibson and Néstor Carbonell.
“In certain parts of the U.S., people are very patriotic. And so it was very bizarre for some of the locals to be walking down Main Street and see Canadian flags everywhere,” Ungar tells The Hollywood Reporter ahead of Bandit getting a theatrical release on around 100 North American screens starting this Friday.
Ungar had originally been set to shoot in Canada his true-life movie about American Gilbert Galvan Jr.

“Bandit” may be, as it proudly declares up front, based on a true story. But it’s hard to believe the titular antihero was quite as charming as the guy playing him.
Josh Duhamel is Robert Whiteman — or, technically, Gilbert Galvan Jr., as he’s known before he escapes a Michigan jail and flees to Ontario in 1985. He becomes Whiteman when he buys a homeless man’s ID, so he can get a job selling ice cream. But when he’s fired, he needs a new gig fast. Unfortunately, even in Canada it’s tough to find work as a wanted convict.
So Robert starts looking around for ways to make some easy money. Actually, make that fast money. Canadian banks, he learns while robbing them, have very little security, and he’s in and out in minutes. But it’s definitely work, what with the careful planning, the costumes and prosthetics,...

Elisha Cuthbert is pulling back the curtain. Reflecting on an earlier time in her career, The Cellar actress shared that when it came to posing on the cover of a hyper-sexualized magazine, "There was really no option back then." "We kinda ended up in a space at the time where that was really happening," she noted during the Aug. 22 episode of the Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson podcast. "Halle Berry was doing it, for God's sake. Jennifer Aniston was doing it." Looking back on the photoshoots that "the [film] studio wanted you to do," she added, "We were probably too young to be being subjected to that and feeling pressured to do that." And while years have...

Brendan Fraser has received a prestigious award for his performance in the forthcoming film, The Whale.
The actor plays Charlie, a man who battles a compulsive eating disorder while trying to rebuild his relationship with his estranged teenage daughter, Elle (Sadie Sink).
Initial reactions to the Darren Aronofsky-directed psychological drama have included attention on Fraser’s transformed physical appearance as a 600lb (272kg) man.
Now, it has been announced that the George of the Jungle star will receive the Toronto International Film Festival TIFF Tribute Award.
Several winners of TIFF prizes have gone on to score nominations and wins at the Academy Awards, including Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of the Dog), Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) and Anthony Hopkins (The Father).
Upon receiving this award, Fraser is said to be in good standing for consideration for an Oscar nomination when the list is finalised early next year.

Quiver Distribution has debuted a new trailer for the Josh Duhamel-led feature ‘Bandit.’

Elisha Cuthbert's horror movies are well-known among horror fans. Now, she's got a distinct trio of horror titles on her resume with "Captivity," "House of Wax," and now, "The Cellar." All different styles of horror movies, all different performances. However, those three movies share one key similarity for Cuthbert: "You can't hold back when you're doing horror."
Brendan Muldowney's "The Cellar" is more subdued, as the actress put it, but there's still notes of fear, regret, and paranoia to play in the old-school haunted house story. Even though Cuthbert doesn't make a lot of horror movies, when she does, she wants to give it...

Dylan Fitzmaurice Brady and Elisha Cuthbert in The Cellar
If you read a lot my work here at Eye For Film, you’ll know that I have ongoing concerns about people moving house in horror films. It’s almost never a good idea, and it doesn’t work out well for the characters in Brendan Muldowney’s The Cellar, who also need lessons in not going into dark places on their own, not playing mysterious old gramophone records and not discounting mysterious symbols in their new home as decorative quirks. If this sounds like pure cliché, however, you’ll be surprised by how scary it is. The film didn’t make it into Glasgow Frightfest for nothing. It subsequently enjoyed a cinema run and it’s now opening on Shudder, so Brendan and I connected and I asked him about his aims when it came to making tropes which feel familiar frightening again.

After a lengthy hiatus, it’s great to finally see Elisha Cuthbert return back to the horror genre, taking the starring role in Brendan Muldowney’s The Cellar. To mark the film’s launch, on the horror fan-favourite platform Shudder, we had the pleasure in speaking to the Canadian actress, as she talks about her return to the genre, and what it was about this specific project that drew her back in.
She also talks about her character and whether she ever adopts traits from those she embodies. She talks about her experience shooting in Ireland, eating Tayto’s crisps, and looks ahead to her next project, the incredible true story of Bandit, where she stars alongside Josh Duhamel and Mel Gibson.
