Mission: Impossible star Tom Cruise could be looking to team up with the John Wick franchise’s latest action hero in a new supernatural thriller, Deeper. Cruise’s involvement was first announced by director Doug Liman in December 2024, and the movie is said to follow an astronaut who experiences a terrifying encounter while on a deep dive in an unexplored ocean trench. The project will potentially mark the third collaboration between Cruise and Liman, who previously collaborated on the sci-fi thriller Edge of Tomorrow and the action-comedy American Made.

Per a new report from Deadline, it is being suggested that Ballerina star Ana de Armas is set to join Cruise on the project, which has previously passed through multiple hands before landing Liman. According to the report, both de Armas and Cruise have recently been photographed together, and sources are intimating that the pair are currently undertaking diving training in preparation for the film.

Earlier this week, we got a first look at what appeared to be a downed Sentinel on the set of Avengers: Doomsday. Now, we have a birds-eye view offering a clearer shot at the mutant-hunting robot's legs (in what's believed to be the X-Mansion's grounds).

We also have reason to believe that we'll see the remains of more than one Sentinel, as you can see below.

Unfortunately, the legs are still covered up, but the photographer who took these shots has confirmed that the footprints they've seen elsewhere on set match the Sentinel design from the comics.

The Golden Trailer Awards, the prestigious event honoring marketing executives and companies that create movie trailers, commercials and posters worldwide, will be hosted by James Murray, best known as Murr from TBS’s “Impractical Jokers.” The event will be held Thursday, May 29, at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

A comedian, writer and producer, Murr worked as the senior vice president of development for NorthSouth Productions for nearly a decade before rocketing to comedy fame on “Impractical Jokers.” He is now the owner of Impractical Studios. Murr is also an international bestselling author, whose works include the sci-fi horror “Awakened” trilogy, the suspense thrillers “You Better Watch Out,” “Don’t Move” and “The Stowaway,” and the middle-grade series “Area 51 Interns.” His horror movie “Don’t Move” hits theaters soon.

Today at the Cannes Film Festival, Collider’s Steve Weintraub was in attendance at a roundtable event with Richard Gelfond, CEO of IMAX. Gelfond spoke about IMAX plans for several upcoming movies, and he was asked if there were any plans for Frankenstein to be released in the custom format. Netflix has released movies like Glass Onion in limited theaters in the past for a week or two before the film begins streaming, so it wouldn’t be unheard of for Frankenstein to hit the big screen before its Netflix debut. While Gelfond made sure to mention that nothing is set in stone, he did confirm that an IMAX release for Frankenstein is “under discussion”:

Clint Eastwood’s 2018 crime drama The Mule has climbed into Netflix’s top 10 movies this week, reaching the number 7 spot. The film stars Eastwood himself as Earl Stone, an octogenarian war veteran and gardener who becomes a drug mule transporting cocaine on behalf of an Illinois cartel. It’s based on the true story of Leo Sharp, who became known as the world’s oldest drug mule after he was caught carrying 200 kilograms of cocaine across Michigan on behalf of the Sinaloa Cartel, in 2011.

As well as playing its lead character, Clint Eastwood directed The Mule, which became the first Clint Eastwood movie since 1997’s Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil to star his daughter, director and actor Alison Eastwood. She plays her real-life father’s daughter in the movie, too, although Iris Stone is estranged from her father Earl for most of The Mule’s 116-minute runtime.

The upcoming film Deeper, starring Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas, has reportedly been put on hold. Directed by Doug Liman, the movie had already been given the green light, and both Cruise and de Armas were in London recently, rehearsing for their roles.

According to Daniel Richtman, who shared the news on his Patreon, the reason behind the delay is related to the Trump tariffs. These tariffs have raised concerns, making it difficult for the production to move forward as planned.

There were some huge omissions, though, and even with production underway, it feels like this ensemble is far from complete.

Robert De Niro will star as Jenna Ortega's mentor in a brand-new film called Shutout. David O. Russell, who previously worked on I Heart Huckabees, Silver Linings Playbook, is set to direct.

Per Deadline, the movie is described as a "pool hustler feature". De Niro will star as Jake Kejeune, one of the last masters of the art of pool hustling. "Having lived and lost by the roll of a ball in smoky backroom halls, Jake encounters Mia (Jenna Ortega), a young prodigy whose raw, electrifying talent reignites a fire he thought long extinguished," the official description reads.

Jake will take Mia under his wing, helping her to refine her instincts, as the two find themselves going deeper into the world of "high-stakes pool" where they walk a tight rope between unthinkable riches and devastating losses. The film's description goes on to tease potential conflict between De Niro and Ortega's characters.

After Sunday services, the Gemstones and their entourage have decamped to Jason’s Steakhouse, the gang’s favorite place to hold court and hit the salad bar. There, Dr. Watson — the capuchin monkey who acts as a service animal for Bj Barnes (Tim Baltz), a Gemstone in-law who’s been paralyzed in a freak pole-dancing accident — pleasures himself and smokes menthol cigarettes as the crowd eggs him on. It’s a very “Gemstones” blend of creatively crude and strangely sweet.

Avengers: Doomsday started shooting in the UK earlier this week, and the cast just assembled for a screening of Thunderbolts*.

Adam Pearson, known for portraying Oswald in the 2024 film A Different Man, will next tackle a significant role in a new adaptation of a classic. Pearson, who lives with neurofibromatosis, has been cast as Joseph Casey Merrick in an upcoming adaptation of Bernard Pomerance's renowned play, The Elephant Man. Adam Pearson has booked his next movie role!

Following his breakout role in 2024′s A Different Man, the 40-year-old British actor will be playing the lead role of Joseph Merrick in the upcoming movie adaption of Bernard Pomerance‘s Tony-winning play, The Elephant Man.

The screenplay is written by Bernard‘s son Moby Pomerance and filming is scheduled to begin in spring 2026.
