The Final Destination franchise has been a terrifying rite of passage for entire generations. Whether it’s the infamous log truck scene or the many Rube Goldberg-style deaths that unfold in the blink of an eye, the movies have left a lasting impact. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t reference Final Destination every time they drive behind a truck loaded with steel pipes or hesitate on a rollercoaster.
Now, after more than a decade since the last installment, Final Destination Bloodlines marks the long-awaited return of the franchise. But even as fans soak in the 2025 release, many are already wondering, could there be more? Or is this the last time fate toys with us on screen?
Is another Final Destination coming after Bloodlines?
After solidifying the franchise’s legacy with five movies in 11 years, from 2000 to 2011, the team of Final Destination was on a break.

This article contains spoilers for "Final Destination: Bloodlines."
You never forget the first time you see it: a truck that appears to be humongous, barely fitting within a single lane on a busy highway. Its payload, a large number of thick, hefty, freshly-cut logs, sits precariously on its flatbed, barely held in place by just three chains, which, when compared to the mighty logs, seem precariously flimsy. It's the sort of vehicle you wouldn't be too enthused about driving behind under the best of circumstances, for not only would it cut off your visibility, but it would compel you to conjure up images of your worst fears, should one of those logs fall off the truck. In the film "Final Destination 2," all of those fears come true, as a premonition of death by one of the characters is depicted, the logs begin careening off the truck, and the result...

Last year, Final Destination 6 (which is going by the title Final Destination: Bloodlines) finally, after years of development and a long year gap between sequels, made its way through production. Now, just in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film, the new sequel has arrived in theatres – and JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols is marking the occasion by taking a look back at what makes the franchise what it is: the opening accidents. Because it’s hard to get on a plane, ride a rollercoaster, or drive down a highway without thinking of them. You can hear all about it in the video embedded above.
Directed by David R. Ellis from a screenplay by J. Mackye Gruber and Eric Bress, Final Destination 2 has the following synopsis: Kimberly has a premonition of a horrible highway accident killing multiple people — including her and her friends.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 18 Episode 2 “The Zookeeper.”] The profilers of Criminal Minds: Evolution‘s Behavioral Analysis Unit (Bau) have dangerous jobs. They end up in life-or-death situations quite often. But it’s off the clock that one of them suffers a tragic loss in the Thursday, May 15, episode. It comes after they’ve wrapped the case involving the latest serial killer, the Zookeeper (Elden Henson), of Voit’s (Zach Gilford) network, and JJ (A.J. Cook) is at home. It seems that her main concern will be her son Henry’s (Mekhai Andersen) friend showing him something involving her online; her mind obviously flashes to Bau-Gate, the dark website with deep-faked pornography focusing on her. But it’s about her being a badass at work. When she goes inside, however, her husband, Will (Josh Stewart), complains of a headache before collapsing. He suffered an aneurysm, the team learns as they wait...

If there’s one singular moment that stands above all the gruesome opening catastrophes and over-the-top deaths in the Final Destination film series, it’s the logging truck and the deadly highway pile-up it caused in Final Destination 2.
The original Final Destination set the bar high with a harrowing plane explosion mid-air. Its direct follow-up, released in 2003 and set one year after the first film’s events, upped the ante in terror with a far more statistically probable catastrophe that hits closer to home. Director David R. Ellis and screenwriters Eric Bress & J. Mackye Gruber (The Butterfly Effect) expanded upon their predecessor’s elaborate kills as well as Death’s rules.
Armed with an almost entirely new cast and set of characters, Final Destination 2 unceremoniously kills off Final Destination’s protagonist and premonition wielder Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) off-screen between films, noted via newspaper clipping and details by the sole returning character,...

The high-rise restaurant disaster that kicks off “Final Destination Bloodlines” has a “Looney Tunes” quality to it that some critics will falsely pin on a single falling piano. Yes, there is a thousand-pound string instrument that comes crashing down several stories before flattening a bratty kid in a bow tie. But that’s just the cherry on top of a perfectly cartoonish opening to the best film this fiendish horror franchise from the 2000s has ever known. Delivering the most visually impressive, emotionally compelling, and quick witted “Final Destination” to date, co-directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein work wonders with a reboot that shouldn’t land nearly as well as it does.

The "Final Destination" franchise has some of the most memorable death sequences in any horror property, as the uniquely complex methods Death itself uses to wipe out its chosen victims tend to get more elaborate with each entry. Now, the latest film in the series, "Final Destination Bloodlines," is right around the corner. So, in order to get people excited (and a little uneasy), the marketing team behind the movie have revealed they have some nasty and kind of brilliant tricks up their sleeves.
While die-hard horror fans are almost guaranteed to go out and see "Bloodlines", in order to get more people in seats, the film's promotional crew have utilized a bit of millennial marketing magic by playing on nostalgia and possibly the most infamous scene in the entire franchise. That's right, I'm talking about the logging truck disaster sequence from 2003's "Final Destination 2." As fans of the property no doubt recall,...

I’ve been a Criminal Minds fan for as long as I can remember. Evolution season 2 left Voit’s fate in the balance, with the team begrudgingly agreeing to work with him to solve the serial killer case. In Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3, we catch up with the Bau and Voit six months after the previous season, only to find Voit in a coma and the team on the hunt for their newest unsub. Without further ado, let’s dive into the evidence that makes the episode a memorably shocking premiere on Paramount+. Spoilers below.

Yes, indeedy: someone is about to be buried alive again in the name of wholesome entertainment.
In the official trailer for the new season of Criminal Minds: Evolution, there’s more talk about serial killers, sadistic psychopaths, and Elias Voit — the notorious Sicarius Killer played by the enthusiastic Zach Gilford.
The 18th season picks up six months after prisoners attack Voit, leading his restless followers on the dark web to begin wreaking havoc all over the country. In order to stop this group from killing more women, er, innocents, the Bau is forced to play a “real life game of Clue” while saying things like “yes indeedy” as they work alongside the increasingly unpredictable Voit (who seems to his own agenda).
Evolution brings back stars Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, and Rj Hatanaka, along with Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster.

Criminal Minds: Evolution fans, we are that much closer to the anticipated return of the reboot’s third season. After a long wait since the events of season 2, what do we know so far about what we can expect in the upcoming season on Paramount+?
When we last saw the team at the end of season 23, Elias Voit had been sent to prison. However, when he was put into general population in prison, he was assaulted while in the laundry area on the grounds. Even though it may seem like this was completely unexpected, with Voit’s tendency to manipulate situations he finds himself in, one has to wonder if he was involved in setting up his own attack.

Matthew Gray Gubler spent over a decade playing a brilliant forensic analyst for the FBI on Criminal Minds, endearing himself to fans of the series along the way. Now, he will put the skills he honed in that time to use, playing the titular role in a new CBS drama, Einstein.
Per Deadline, Gubler will play Albert Einstein's great-grandson. Following the previous reports of his casting, it's now been revealed that the show has officially been ordered to series at CBS. The logline reads: "Brilliant but directionless, the great-grandson of Albert Einstein spends his days as a comfortably tenured professor until his bad boy antics land him in trouble with the law and he is pressed into service helping a local police detective solve her most puzzling cases."

This article contains spoilers for every "Final Destination" movie.
For over 25 years, the "Final Destination" series has instilled a very special fear of death with audiences. Everyone meets their end at some point or another, but these movies take perverse pleasure in showing all of the grisly manners it can manifest. Unlike other horror franchises like "Friday the 13th" or "Scream," where you can physically see the killer coming toward you, in the world of "Final Destination," Death can take the form of just about anything. All it takes is a loose screw, a curling iron, or a creep with a box full of hook hands to get the ball rolling.
It's very fitting for a franchise about a deadly omniscient presence to make you anxious of your surroundings at all times. But try as they might, the characters in every "Final Destination" usually meet a grisly end one way or another.

After CBS ended the police procedural drama Criminal Minds in 2022, Paramount+ revived the series two years later, dubbing it Criminal Minds: Evolution. Although the series continued with many characters from the original, some fan-favorite characters didn't return, including Matthew Gray Gubler's Spencer Reid.
Gubler was a series regular on the original Criminal Minds series, which ran between 2005 and 2020. He didn't return for the first two seasons, but he is set to make his return in Criminal Minds: Evolution's Season 3, the show's overall eighteenth season, which is set to premiere on May 8. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Erica Meeser confirmed Gubler's big return.
Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 will also feature a huge time jump, as the new season will take place six months after the events of Season 2's finale.

Wheels up in May, profilers! We're returning to the round table room in the FBI: Behavioral Analysis Unit (Bau) building to solve more twisted cases and tackle life head-on. Entertainment Weekly surprised Criminal Minds fans on April 10 by releasing multiple updates for season 18.
Criminal Minds: Evolution boss Erica Messer dropped some teasers we may not expect. We received a season teaser video, photos, and storyline updates from Voit to Spencer Reid. I'm not kidding when I say they surprised us. Criminal Minds rarely releases updates, besides an occasional Paget Brewster tweet slip. Other than that, fans don't know much until close to release.
Matthew Gray Gubler reprises his role as Spencer Reid
Along with Voit and the Bau team returning, Matthew Gray Gubler's anticipated return is finally happening. I'm a Spencer Reid fan, and I'll be glad to see him, but I can already feel my heart breaking for what he's possibly going to endure.

For the better part of the last two decades, Criminal Minds has entertained audiences with its gripping portrayal of criminal profiling, intense psychological drama, and compelling characters.
Not only did the series offer a deep dive into the world of crime and police procedures, but its emotional depth and complex storyline have often captivated viewers.

Even when the characters changed and the series underwent some major changes, throughout the years, the feel has remained the same. However, the show received a new lease of life when it was renewed and revived back in 2022. And according to longtime cast member Paget Brewster, the change has been very welcome.

Paget Brewster became a fan favorite when she appeared in the role of Emily Prentiss in the 2005 show Criminal Minds. Despite the world loving her character, she was soon written out of the script in season 6.
Despite getting hurt, Paget Brewster took the decision like a champ. She was later re-hired by the same show, but it was never the same for Paget Brewster. Talking about her exit from the show, the actress revealed that the way her character was written out of the script was really exciting.

In the world of thrilling crime dramas, only a few have stayed as popular as Criminal Minds. With more than 200 episodes and millions of fans worldwide, the CBS series is much more than a typical TV drama. And people didn’t just tune in to watch the FBI solve disturbing cases, but they also kept coming back for the characters at the heart of the Behavioral Analysis Unit.
One of those characters was Jennifer “J.J.” Jareau, played by actress A.J. Cook. Her character has been a part of the show since the very beginning, and her transformation within the series has been nothing short of remarkable.

After spending years on the medical drama Chicago Hope, Mandy Patinkin’s next major role in TV was as Ssa Jason Gideon in Criminal Minds. He joined the series in its pilot episode and lasted only two seasons before announcing his exit. The show went on for another 13 seasons, followed by two seasons of its revival show, Criminal Minds: Evolution.
Patinkin’s character was replaced by Ssa David Rossi, played by The Godfather III fame Joe Mantegna. Gideon left the Bau team at the end of Season 3, Episode 2, after his girlfriend was killed by the serial killer Frank Breitkopf. While Gideon had his reasons to leave the Bau, Patinkin also had reasons to leave Criminal Minds.

Later, Gideon was addressed in a major way only in the tenth season of the show when a serial killer from his past murdered the legendary Ssa agent.

Fourteen years ago, Criminal Minds dropped one of its most emotional gut-punches, and Matthew Gray Gubler was the one behind the camera. The fan-fave directed a farewell episode that sent a major Bau star packing, and yep, it wrecked us.
It wasn’t just sad, it was tissues-on-standby, scream-into-a-pillow sad. Gubler didn’t just direct an exit; he crafted a heartbreak in HD.

Criminal Minds: Evolution (formerly only Criminal Minds) has proven to be one of the most iconic police procedural dramas of all time. To be precise, the incredibly performing cast was one of the biggest reasons behind the thriller mystery crime masterpiece’s success, besides its immersive plotlines brought about by the masterminds behind the show.
In fact, to say the least, the cast members’ performances throughout the smash hit of a show have been so iconic and praiseworthy that, despite their respective characters not being famous in the show, the showrunner Erica Messer regrets getting rid of them at one point. One of these very characters was Nicholas D’Agosto’s Doug Bailey.

Update, 4:24 Pm: Extraction producer David Guillod is not going to be charged with sexual assault, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said today.
“After an extensive review of the evidence by the Sex Crimes Division, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has determined that the Office is unable to prove sexual assault allegations against David Guillod beyond a reasonable doubt,” Nathan Hochman’s office announced.
The Friday afternoon news dump by Da Hochman comes more than four years after Guillod was arrested by the LAPD on October 28, 2020, for an alleged sexual assault a week before. At the time of that arrest, the Atomic Blonde producer was facing 11 felony counts in Santa Barbara on multiple charges of sexual assault. That case, which involved an alleged attack on Ted actress Jessica Berth and another woman, was dismissed in June 2022. After that, the cases of two of Guillod’s accusers moved to LA County,...

The Behavioral Analysis Unit is forced to work with Voit to stop the chaos, but the longer they work with him, the clearer it becomes that he has his own agenda. In addition to Gilford, this new season stars Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, and Rj Hatanaka along with Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster.
Erica Messer, known for her work on “Criminal Minds” and “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders,” serves as showrunner and executive producer for “Evolution.

The early pickup for the Criminal Minds sequel comes ahead of the crime drama’s Season 3 premiere, which has been set for May 8, followed by weekly drops on Thursdays.
Speculation about a renewal for Season 4 (overall Season 19 across Criminal Minds and Evolution) started when production on Season 3 (Season 18 overall) wrapped in December, with star Paget Brewster writing on X at the time that “we are optimistic we’ll get a season 19.”
By Feb. 10, the pickup was pretty much a done deal, with the cast and crew informed about it.

The police procedural may be a staple of network TV, but it's finding new life on streaming, as Criminal Minds: Evolution has found a welcome home on Paramount+. The original Criminal Minds aired on CBS for 15 seasons, while Criminal Minds: Evolution will be going into its third season. It brought back favorite characters such as David Rossi (Joe Montegna), Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), Jennifer “J.J.” Jareau (A.J. Cook), Luke Alvarez (Adam Rodrigeuz), and Dr. Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler). Will Lamontagne, Jr. (Josh Stewart) was also among the Criminal Minds: Evolution cast, though he didn't return for season 2.
As a detective working closely with Criminal Minds' Behavioral Analysis Unit, Will once played an important recurring role in the police procedural. He was also romantically involved with J.J., and the father of her child, Henry. Having been a recurring presence since Criminal Minds season 2, Will’s departure from Criminal Minds: Evolution was sudden,...

Over the years, Criminal Minds has cycled through a range of cast members, with very few still on retainer from the early seasons. When the show was rebooted as Criminal Minds: Evolution in 2022, fan-favorites including David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), Jenifer Jareau (A.J. Cook), and Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) re-appeared, but the most notable missing face was that of Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler). After two seasons of the reboot, it has been announced that Reid will be returning in Season 3 as a part of one episode. This news should have left me jumping with excitement, but to my surprise, all I felt was a slight disappointment. To preface, like everyone else, Reid is my favorite character, but there is a reason his return isn't drumming up the fanfare we would expect.

Early last year, Kirsten Dunst joined a group of other highly-skilled actors like Cailee Spaeny and Wagner Moura and ran to the front lines as a photojournalist in Alex Garland’s heavy-hitting drama, Civil War. But, long before she was in the trenches alongside her weary band of photo-taking brothers, she was in a different - but equally harrowing - type of warfare: adolescents. At the turn of the century, Dunst joined ranks with her now frequent collaborator, Sofia Coppola, in the filmmaker’s directorial debut for The Virgin Suicides. The film featured a fun up-and-coming ensemble that, along with Dunst, featured early performances from Josh Hartnett, Hayden Christensen, Giovanni Ribisi, A.J. Cook, and more. Right now, audiences are invited to see one of the quintessential films of the late ‘90s, as The Virgin Suicides is now streaming on Paramount+.
