David Collins
David Collins is a four time Emmy Award winning producer and co-owner of Scout Productions, a film and television production company that he co-founded 25 years ago. As the creator and Executive Producer of the reality sensation Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, David is a vanguard contributor to the personal - transformation reality boom of the past decade. Airing in over 120 countries, Queer Eye earned him an Emmy Award for Best Reality Series, a Producer's Guild of America 'Producer of the Year' Award and two GLAAD Media Awards, to name a few highlights. Queer Eye aired in over 180 countries and David oversaw production of 19 original international formats of the show. Queer Eye was created with David's groundbreaking "Make Better" model of storytelling, which immediately became the cornerstone of Bravo's network model, and inspired scores of subsequent personal improvement reality programs. In early 2017, Netflix announced the series return with an all new Fab Five. David and Scout are again at the helm. Since Queer Eye, David has executive produced programs for HBO Max, Disney+, Amazon, Snap, Facebook, TruTV, ABC, HGTV, OWN, IFC, ESPN, VH1, MTV, Sundance Channel and ABC Family. Shows include Legendary, The Hype, The Quest, Equal, How To Get The Guy, Knock First, Big Ideas for a Small Planet, The Outdoor Room with Jamie Durie, Home Made Simple, The Antonio Treatment and the two time Emmy Award winner Sox Appeal. David produced First Person, the inaugural television series from celebrated documentarian Errol Morris, that aired on IFC and the big screen release Mr Death. He produced the indie features Session 9 and Transsiberian with acclaimed filmmaker Brad Anderson and Six Ways to Sunday for director Adam Bernstein. Before finding his niche in creating reality television David gained immeasurable production experience on the frontlines as a Director's Guild UPM and location manager on major motion pictures beginning with Jodie Foster's directorial debut Little Man Tate and then staging what was then the largest movie explosion of all time for MGM's Blown Away. Subsequent films include: American Buffalo, Malice, Dumb & Dumber, The Good Son, Hoffa and HouseSitter. Originally from Ohio, David attended Ohio University where he received his bachelor's degree in TV and Film. He is a member of the Director's Guild of America and the Producers Guild of America. He is most proud of his greatest productions to date: twin daughters Ella and Olive.
