Marc Sadeghi had just returned from a work trip to New Zealand when he was asked to meet with someone from Human Resources.
Sadeghi was settling into his job as global head of visual effects for Amazon Studios, based at the streamer’s Culver City office. He had quickly discovered that he had less staff support than he expected, and he was deeply frustrated by Amazon’s “coach only” policy for company travel.
Amazon is famously frugal, and generally requires employees to fly coach or pay for their own seat upgrades. This stands in marked contrast to the free-spending norm for senior executives in Hollywood, and for Sadeghi it was especially vexing. He had back problems — scoliosis and sciatica — and needed more room to stretch out. He had brought it up several times, to no avail.
Now he was being asked to meet with an Hr person from Seattle to go over some “allegations.

Breaking: Carla Hacken is leaving her post as production president at New Regency. Hacken, the former ICM agent and longtime Fox 2000 executive vice president, just took the post last November as Arnon Milchan and CEO Brad Weston began to restructure the company to be a more filmmaker driven enterprise. Rumors began circulating in the last week that the fit with Hacken wasn’t a good one. This comes after Weston brought in vet Valerie Van Geldar to run marketing, installed Tim Clawson as New Regency’s Evp/Head of Physical Production, and Mandeville Films Svp David Manpearl came aboard as VP Production. Weston will now look for a production president to replace Hacken. The company has begun cranking out films, the first of which will be the Allen Hughes-directed Broken City with Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe, followed by the Brad Furman-directed Runner, Runner with Ben Affleck and...

Exclusive: New Regency president/CEO Brad Weston has named Valerie Van Galder to be President of Marketing. At the same time, The Weinstein Company’s Tim Clawson has been hired to be New Regency’s Evp/Head of Physical Production, and Mandeville Films Svp David Manpearl is coming aboard as VP Production. Weston, the former production president at Paramount and Dimension, was hired less than a year by New Regency majority owner Arnon Milchan to refashion the company into an enterprise that would make the kind of ballsy and memorable filmmaker-driven films that once distinguished the company, back when Milchan generated L.A. Confidential, Heat, JFK and Fight Club. Weston has slowly been putting his own team in place, including production president Carla Hacken and Evp Production Alexandra Milchan; TV head Andrew Plotkin; CFO Mimi Tseng and COO Jonathan Fisher. Weston said Van Galder is a big hire for the company,...

New York -- With little fanfare, several of the Weinstein Co.'s top founding film executives are departing the company with no imminent replacements for their positions.
Executive VPs/co-heads of acquisitions and production Michelle Krumm and Maeva Gatineau quietly left the indie distributor three weeks ago. Production president Michael Cole and senior VP production Carla Gardini will be following suit in the next few weeks. Executive VP marketing Gary Faber is expected to depart by the end of the year.
In short, TWC will momentarily find itself without heads of production and acquisitions. The company said it is planning to replace them.
The moves come as the company gears up for the awards season, with hopefuls that include "Vicki Cristina Barcelona" and "The Reader."
"In all businesses there are always comings and goings," Harvey Weinstein said, adding that the company has been "fortunate to have Lance Still, David Glasser...
