  • Has appeared in three films that were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar: Breaking Away (1979), Chariots of Fire (1981) and Django Unchained (2012). Of those, Chariots of Fire (1981) won in the category. All three films won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

His siblings are Vince Cannon (December 9, 1937 - August 15, 1998), Patricia Ann Carrelli Kratzinger Laros (January 23, 1941 - October 19, 2019), and Edward Joseph Carrelli (born February 23, 1945).
  • In 1968 he enrolled at Temple University, but after only three semesters he dropped out in favor of moving to L.A. to get his acting career underway.
  • Working as Halston's assistant in the 1980s, he helped design the Halston III collection for J.C. Penny.
