Phil Chitty

Phil Chitty, Director of Outstanding Ltd., has been involved in the construction industry for 49 years and has over 40 years experience managing construction and art directing sets and stages for film and television throughout NZ. The knowledge that Phil has acquired during his many years of work within the film and television industry has allowed him to have a unique understanding of all facets of film production, large scale or small , all with same attention to detail.

Coordinating the construction process, from the initial planing phase, through to the final coat of paint, his excellent organizational and management skills, as well as his close attention to detail allow Phil to work within budget and within strict time-frames, ensuring the production process runs smoothly.

With over 200 TVC's and numerous international feature films and TV dramas, Phil has been able to lead teams of highly specialized technicians and craftsmen, including carpenter & joiners, scenic painters and plasters, sculptors, furniture and prop makers, engineers and riggers. From the initial phases of planning, design and budgeting, Phil is able to work closely with the Production Designer and Director to ensure the final designs are met to a high production standard.

Much of Phil's work contributes to coordinating logistics, formulating budgets, cost control and reporting, planning time-frames, implementing facilities, including health and safety procedures.
