- Birth nameMarc Hallon Cherry
- Marc Cherry was born on March 23, 1962 in Los Angeles County, California, USA. He is a writer and producer, known for Desperate Housewives (2004), Devious Maids (2013) and Why Women Kill (2019).
- Broke into the industry by working as Designing Women (1986) star Dixie Carter's personal assistant. She would later guest star on his series, Desperate Housewives (2004), as Gloria Hodge, and was nominated for an Emmy as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.
- Won $15,000 as a contestant on The $100,000 Pyramid (1985) in 1986.
- Once worked as a personal assistant to Dixie Carter.
- In his cameo on Arrested Development (2003), he was the subject of a morality protest spearheaded by Ann, George Michael's fundamentalist Christian girlfriend; in his real life, Cherry employed the star of Arrested Development (2003), Jason Bateman, in the series Some of My Best Friends (2001).
- Has a lovely tenor voice - performed a song ("Beautiful Girls") and dance for journalists when ABC announced its 2005-2006 schedule, which, of course, included the renewal of Desperate Housewives (2004).
- I was washed up. People just weren't excited by my name... That's one of the reasons I had to write something really smart.... That desperation you feel permeating the script is pretty real.
