Dismaland Castle and Big Little Mermaid suffering from split-personality disorder. Dismaland: Banksy and more than 50 other artists create bemusement theme park Who gives a damn about the cheap thrills to be offered by the Star Wars-themed expansion of Disneyland when you can relish the thought-provoking wonders of Dismaland? The artist Banksy, whose 2010 documentary feature Exit Through the Gift Shop was nominated for an Academy Award, has come up with his latest revolutionary artwork: a theme park for the bemusement of the whole family! Or perhaps not quite the whole family. Banksy calls his 2.5-acre art show a “family theme park unsuitable for small children.” Another Dismaland plus. Its construction shrouded in secrecy, Dismaland opened today, Aug. 20, '15, on the sea front at Weston-super-Mare, in Somerset, southwest England. While the theme park was being built, locals believed that the work going on at the derelict Tropicana “lido” – shut down in...

Digital Spy presents Doctor Who Week - seven days of special features celebrating the return of the world's favourite sci-fi series, and the arrival of a brand new Doctor - on August 23.
You don't need a classic theme for a great TV show, but as programmes from M*A*S*H and The X-Files to The Wire and Buffy The Vampire Slayer have shown, it certainly doesn't hurt.
Below, we take a look at the history of the revolutionary Doctor Who theme and also explore how the show has intertwined with the wider world of pop.
'Doctor Who Theme' [Original Version] - The Radiophonic Workshop (1963)
"Did I write that?" Ron Grainer apparently asked on hearing the completed version of the original theme crafted by the BBC's Radiophonic Workshop. "Most of it," Delia Derbyshire kindly replied.
Grainer attempted to get Derbyshire a co-writing credit but the policy of the time was to keep Workshop members anonymous,...

With series eight’s Deep Breath fast approaching, there are questions all Dw fans will be asking – perhaps none as pressing as “What new bag of tricks will Murray Gold be bringing to the theme song?” While we all wait with bated breath, why not take a gander at these variations on Ron Grainer’s immortal work?
Doctor Who Theme – Gallifrey Remixes (Dominic Glynn and Syzygy)
Dominic Glynn’s theme from Trial Of A Timelord is an 80s effort that’s worn well for this writer, particularly the way Glynn sneaks in a new array of far-out soundscapes. This remix, originally performed at L.A.’s Gallifrey One convention, features four upgrades of Glynn’s ‘Trial’ theme, as produced with Syzygy (a.k.a. Justin Mackay). It takes a...

The Klf's albums have been taken down from iTunes. The band's back catalogue was uploaded yesterday to iTunes, Spotify and the Amazon MP3 service. However, the records have now been removed from iTunes, although they remain on Spotify and Amazon. It has emerged that the albums available were bootleg recordings not authorised by Klf stars Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty. It is not yet clear how they came to appear on the legitimate sites. The band deleted their back catalogue after quitting the music industry in 1992. At the time, they released the statement: "For (more)...

The returns of David Bowie, Justin Timberlake and, er, four fifths of 5ive have already made 2013 the year of the Big Pop Comeback. And joining them - in a way - are The Manual authors and Stadium House troublemakers The Klf. Back in 1992, Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty ended the group explosively at the Brit Awards, and their back catalogue was deleted in the UK soon after. From nowhere, the peerless Klf Updates Twitter feed alerted us last night that the albums - and seemingly some bootlegs too - are now available via Spotify, iTunes and Amazon. To celebrate, here are our top five video Klf moments. 1. The Timelords - 'Doctorin' The Tardis' (Top of The Pops)
