Paramount Pictures is going full steam with its Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise by attaching some of Hollywood’s hottest stars to voice iconic characters from the expanding Sega series. It broke the internet when Idris Elba said he was voicing Knuckles the Echidna for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I could hear the rapturous screams from my office in Canada as fans of the Blue Blur rejoiced. Now, Paramount is rekindling the fire by bringing Keanu Reeves into the fold as Shadow the Hedgehog for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Speaking about Reeves joining the cast, Idris Elba believes it was his destiny to work alongside the John Wick actor, and he couldn’t be happier about his good fortune.
“I’m a big fan of his,” Elba said about Keanu Reeves in an interview with IGN. “I’ve heard that he’s a fan of mine, and we are destined to make something together.

Remember how the live-action version of Sonic the Hedgehog had a rough start? The fans were horrified by the leaked design of the character, as Paramount initially opted for a more original design, which was panned by fans, so they decided to listen to them and simply keep the original design, and this turned out to be the best decision they made. The first movie was a massive hit, and so was the sequel, so it was no surprise that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was quickly announced, and we can confirm that the movie is set for a December 20, 2024 theatrical release.
And while we’ve had several updates related to the movie, including Jim Carrey’s confirmed return as Dr. Robotnik, today is a big day as the main voice cast of the movie has finally been confirmed, all of that amidst flooding rumors that Keanu Reeves will be voicing Shadow,...

We’ve known that Shadow the Hedgehog would be appearing in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for some time but didn’t know who would be voicing the character… until now. First reported by John Campea and confirmed by THR, Shadow the Hedgehog will be voiced by none other than Keanu Reeves.
The audience at CinemaCon got a glimpse of Shadow during Paramount’s panel, during which a first-look trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was screened. The character first appeared in Sonic Adventure 2 as a dark version of Sonic who does whatever it takes to achieve his goals. The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has included some unexpected voice actors, such as Idris Elba as Knuckles, so it should be fun to see what Keanu Reeves does with Shadow.

After racing toward the finish line at top speed, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 director Jeff Fowler is wrapping up production on the Blue Blur’s latest adventure! Fowler announced the film’s production wrap via Twitter/X with a new photo from the set. In the image, Fowler holds a giant clapper with drawings of the threequel’s primary animated cast, including Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow. The latest addition to the cast, Shadow, takes the spotlight on the clapper, while Tails and Knuckles give the anti-hero the stink eye. Meanwhile, Sonic appears unbothered by Shadow’s presence, shrugging off the new player’s prominence. If you look past the clapper, you’ll find Fowler wearing a shirt saying “Keep Calm and Jim Carrey On,” a nod to the comedic actor’s franchise return as Dr. Robotnik.

I honestly never expected that a Sonic the Hedgehog cinematic universe would be a thing, but here we are. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 kicked off production last year, and James Marsden recently spoke with The Playlist and confirmed that filming has just wrapped.
“Yeah, we just wrapped, actually!” Marsden said. “I feel really proud of what we created, and the response from the fans, we just had to get the animation right on that first movie, but great family, all positive. Jim’s just having a ball, he’s in his inspiration zone… So it’s a joy to watch him have a good time, like really enjoying it again. It’s great, very lucky to be a part of it, and I think fans are gonna be excited about all the new characters.“
Marsden also happened to mention that the production was near the same stages where Deadpool & Wolverine was shooting,...

A new episode of the Real Slashers video series has just been released, and with this one we’re looking back at a movie that gave us two iconic slashers for the price of one: the 2003 monster mash Freddy vs. Jason (watch it Here)! Somehow it’s been over twenty years since that long-awaited match-up reached theatres screens, and you can hear all about what happened when Freddy Krueger crossed paths with Jason Voorhees in the video embedded above.
Directed by Ronny Yu (who previously worked with another iconic slasher on Bride of Chucky) from a screenplay by Damian Shannon and Mark J. Swift (with an uncredited polish by David S. Goyer), Freddy vs. Jason has the following synopsis: Get ready for the ultimate showdown! It’s been nearly ten years since Freddy, from the Nightmare on Elm Street series, invaded people’s dreams to exact his deadly form of revenge and murder.

Two years ago, Kate Mara watched a rough cut of “The Smell of Money” – a documentary about Elsie Herring’s decades-long fight to stop a multibillion-dollar corporate hog farm from spraying animal waste on her family’s land in North Carolina – and signed on to become an executive producer alongside David Lowery. Directed by Shawn Bannon, “The Smell of Money” examines not only how and why hog waste is killing innocent people, but also environmental racism, corporate malfeasance and global warming. The docu follows Herring and other residents as they wade through a nine-year legal battle against Smithfield Foods, whose facilities process tens of thousands of pigs per day, making the company the largest producer of pork in North America.

As the box office opens two films featuring high-octane speedsters this weekend, one has emerged a clear victor. Paramount’s “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” looks to top the charts this weekend with an impressive opening between 67 million to 69 million, while Universal’s R-rated actioner “Ambulance” will likely fail to clear double digits.
“Sonic” unleashed on the box office on Thursday to the tune of 6.3 million in previews and has only gained steam since, playing in 4,234 locations. The Sega sequel is outperforming its 2020 predecessor, which opened to 58 million at a time when Covid-19 was still a nebulous threat to most North Americans. That “Sonic 2” is opening even stronger isn’t only good news for Paramount’s hunt for sustainable IP, but it also shows that family audiences are largely ready to return to movie theaters for the right movie.

Things didn’t exactly get off to a flying start with the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. When the initial trailer was released, fans were not happy at all with how Sega’s lead mascot looked. Especially his ‘human-like’ teeth it seemed. Personally, I wasn’t that bothered but the filmmakers were it seems, as Sonic got a quick makeover in time for its release and everyone was happy. But with all that going on, is the movie actually any good?
Fans of the games will definitely be pleased. Right from the opening scenes we see where Sonic grew up and we see him run. Most importantly, both of these things feel like they have been ripped straight out of the video game.

If Tuesday’s two-hour premiere was any indication, CBS’ Zoo is going all in with Season 2.
Whereas Season 1 of the James Patterson adaptation took things a bit seriously as it explored the mystery of a manmade genetic mutation within the entire animal kingdom that turned our fine feathered and furry friends against us, Season 2 — or at least the effects-laden premiere, which for all I know blew the entire budget — is going full-tilt bananas (no pun intended, monkeys). We’ve got multi-animal assaults, a luxury jet that would make S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Zephyr jealous, new characters and...

Are we too quick to consume movies and TV before moving onto the next big thing? Ryan looks at the gathering pace of pop culture...
On the 26th March, Yahoo UK’s Tom Butler sat down with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill for a brief filmed interview about Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Both Hollywood stars wore jumpers. Cavill looked relaxed and chipper. Affleck, on the other hand, wore the heavy-lidded look of someone suffering from jet lag.
It was that wan expression, as the pair were asked about the grim critical reaction to Batman V Superman, which saw the clip shared all over the world. As Cavill responded to the question (“What really matters is what the audience thinks...”), Affleck looked at the floor, unblinking. He appeared to nod gently as Cavill spoke eagerly, although it’s equally possible that he was just comforting himself by rocking backwards and forwards.

Batman v Superman is getting pummeled by movie critics. NPR, as just one example among so many, called the superhero blockbuster “a ponderous, smothering, over-pixelated zeppelin crash of a movie.” It appears that all the criticism is getting to Batman himself, Ben Affleck. In an interview with Tom Butler from Yahoo Movies, Affleck and his co-star Henry Cavill were asked about the negative reviews (or as Butler politely calls it, “a mixed response.”) That’s when someone from the YouTube channel Sabconth decided to have some fun at the Dark Knight’s expense. As you’ll see in the video below, Affleck seemingly zones out as Cavill answers the question. He ultimately rejoins the interview just long enough to offer a terse response. And it’s all accompanied by the most appropriate of Simon & Garfunkel songs. Here’s the video…...

Iris West will soon be getting a new boss in Season 2 of The Flash, and the CW superhero series has found the man for the job. As first reported by Variety, Tone Bell (NBC’s Truth Be Told) has been cast as Scott Evans, “the brash new editor at Central City Picture News. Devoted to hard journalism, Evans will push Iris (Candice Patton) and all his reporters to dig deeper into their stories and report the truth about what’s really happening in Central City.” It hasn’t yet been announced when Bell will make his debut on The Flash, but he will appear in multiple episodes in the back half of Season 2. His character takes over as editor at Central Picture News after Iris’ last boss, Eric Larkin (played by Tom Butler), was killed by the villainous Dr. Light (played by Malese Jow) in this season’s fifth episode,...

It’s not safe being a journalist in Central City. In fact, it may be even more perilous than being a politician in Star City. Regardless, season two of The Flash has now cast comedian Tone Bell for a multi-episode arc when The CW series returns in 2016. He won’t be a character from the comic books though; instead, he’s taking on the role of Iris West’s boss.

Swansea’s maiden Premier League journey has been a success so far. Many pundits predicted the Swans to be rock bottom and possibly even surpass Derby’s record of the least points achieved in a season but with 2012 around the corner, things are looking positive in South Wales.
The team are sitting in 14th place, 5 points from the relegation zone but also 3 points from 9th. The team ethos of playing the ball on the ground and keeping possession has been maintained to good effect, the home form and defensive efforts have been nothing short of spectacular for a promoted team and the pundits are slowly retracting their previous predictions.
However, whilst we have performed higher than expectations, the club aren’t satisfied quite yet.
Brendan Rodgers has indicated the desire to bring in “four to six new players” in the January transfer window. Since that original statement in late November...

Burkitsville, Indiana one year ago: A lost couple are given directions in the town onto Orchard road. The woman notices his tattoo, so we can watch out for it later too. The couple breakdown and see lights in the woods. She tells him if he had a brain they wouldn't be lost, naturally the scatty scarecrow doesn't have a brain. The scarecrow in the field moves and comes after them. Dad (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) calls Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) and tells them he's fine but not where he is. Sam says he's after the thing and Dad tells them "it's a demon." He knows what happened to Jessica and is sorry, "I would have done anything to protect you." He warns them they're everywhere and they can't help. Dad orders them not to follow him. He gives them the names of missing/dead couples and Dean obeys his order,...

AMC's brilliant but glacially paced "The Killing," has just aired its 7th episode, which means it's slightly past the halfway point of the season, and while the prime suspect in the murder of Rosie Larsen has shifted, it's still way too early to identify the killer. But that won't stop us from trying.
If you're not watching "The Killing," do so. It's slow moving, grim, and immensely frustrating, but it's also one of the better shows on television right now, a program that will hopefully reward our patience. It's a nifty whoddunit, a murder-mystery stretched out into 13 episodes so that it's more like a televised novel than "CSI." It takes us not only into the murder investigation, but how it affects the family of the victim, a political campaign that's wrapped up in the investigation, and the private life of Detective Sarah Linden. Each episode covers a day in the investigation,...

It’s now day five since Rosie Larsen was killed and Detective Linden (Mireille Enos) and Detective Holder (Joel Kinnaman) push hard against new lead suspect Bennet Ahmed, Rosie’s favorite teacher after finding letters written by him that were hidden in her room. Meanwhile the mayoral election campaigns continues and challenger Darren Richmond (Billy Campbell) starts making more aggressive moves to try and get ahead of incumbent Mayor Lesley Adams (Tom Butler).
The Suspects
So how convinced are we that Bennet (Brandon Jay McLaren) is the killer? He wasn’t exactly forthcoming with his information and there’s just the slightest bit of creepiness in that his wife was a former student of his, no? He has a lot of incriminating evidence lacks of a strong alibi but his story could check out, but then again…
Then there’s all that evidence in his house. To be skeptical, the...

AMC’s latest original program The Killing premiered last night and is based on a Danish television series called Forbrydelsen (The Crime) and tells three stories stemming from the murder of a teenage girl named Rosie Larsen in Seattle: The victim’s family, the various suspects, and the homicide detectives leading the case.
The Detectives
Mirellie Enos’ (Big Love) Sarah Linden is a mixture of a young Gillian Anderson in the X-Files down to the strawberry blonde hair and Morgan Freeman’s Lt. William Somerset in Se7en. She is short in stature, large in wisdom and well experienced as a homicide detective but it is her last day of work before heading south to San Francisco. She is planning a wedding and is ready to move on with her new fiancée Rick (Callum Keith Rennie) and son from a previous marriage. Mentally, Linden has all but checked out but this...
