Bong Joon-Ho: My $50M Movie Before Parasite Was Aimed at Making People Give Up Watching Movies on Smartphones and “Go to the theater” Instead
Image
Filmmaker Bong Joon-Ho has delivered some of the most unique and visually interesting films in the past couple of decades. The South Korean director smoothly transitioned to making Hollywood blockbusters in the 2010s before returning home to make Parasite, which won him multiple Oscars.

However, before his global success with the neatly crafted intimate drama, Bong worked on a $50 million movie that was released directly on streaming. In an interview, the director reflected on the project and admitted that it deserved to be watched on the big screen. Here is what Bong Joon-Ho had to say about one of his most underrated movies.

Bong Joon-Ho wanted people to watch Okja in theaters

Director Bong Joon-Ho‘s most recent directorial outing, Mickey 17, received mixed reviews and bombed at the box office. However, before the movie, Bong received praise for his work on projects such as Memories of Murder and The Host.

From Palme d’Or to Best Picture: Cannes’ Impact on the Oscars Is Stronger Than Ever
Image
For years, the Cannes Film Festival has been synonymous with glamour, prestige and cinematic artistry, with more than a few awards season darlings debuting there. But over the last decade, as Oscar hopefuls increasingly shifted their debuts to Venice, Telluride and Toronto, Cannes saw its influence on awards season diminish.

That’s no longer the case. In the last three years, Oscar best picture contenders (as well as international feature nominees) emerged from its lineup — most notably Palme d’Or winners “Triangle of Sadness” (2022) and “Anatomy of a Fall” (2023). At this year’s Oscars, Cannes Palme d’Or winner “Anora” took best pic, director and actress, while Oscar nominees “Flow,” which won for animated feature, “The Substance,” “The Apprentice” and “Emilia Pérez,” with Zoe Saldaña taking home best supporting actress (she and her co-stars collectively won acting kudos at Cannes as well), all launched on the Croisette.

Neon Picks Oscar Winners, Builds a Library and Looks Primed for a Takeover – Why Hasn’t It Found a Buyer? | Exclusive
Image
With a Best Picture Oscar fresh on its mantle after the triumph of “Anora” in March, Neon is headed to its favorite festival, Cannes, riding high. The arthouse studio founded in 2017 has every reason to feel confident, having released the past five consecutive Palme d’Or winners, and arriving on the Croisette next week with four films in the official lineup: “Alpha” by Julia Ducournau, “Sentimental Value” by Joachim Trier, “Orwell” by Raoul Peck and “Splitsville” by Mike Cavino.

It’s natural for studio co-founder and CEO Tom Quinn to think about capitalizing on the moment, plot to expand his arthouse success and see his small but mighty endeavor financially headed in the direction of his rival A24, last valued at $3.5 billion.

But in a sign of complicated times for M&a in general and arthouse studios in particular, Neon remains in a nether space, with a valuation bankers and dealmakers put at only $200-$250 million.

Image
Korean studio Barunson E&a, which previously produced Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning Parasite, has unveiled an international partnership with Indonesian studio Imajinari, focused on remake rights.

Under the deal, Barunson E&a will handle international remake rights for three of Imajinari’s titles: hit horror-comedy Agak Laen, its upcoming sequel Agak Laen 2, and the dark comedy Tinggal Meninggal.

This deal marks Barunson E&a’s expansion of its international business beyond co-production and international sales, to remake rights. Image
Barunson E&a, the Korean company behind Bong Joon Ho’s Oscar winner “Parasite,” is expanding its global footprint through a new partnership with buzzy Indonesian production banner Imajinari.

The deal positions Barunson to handle international remake rights for three of Imajinari’s standout titles: horror-comedy sensation “Agak Laen,” its upcoming sequel, and dark comedy “Tinggal Meninggal.”

The strategic move signals Barunson’s evolution beyond traditional co-production and international sales as it steps into remake rights licensing, with a focused eye on Southeast Asia’s booming film market.

Imajinari, founded in 2021 by comedian-director Ernest Prakasa and manager Dipa Andika under the Hahaha Corp talent umbrella, has rapidly established itself as one of Indonesia’s most exciting new-generation studios. Tom Hardy's Netflix Movie Havoc Has Been Dethroned By This German Action Thriller
Image
Only three things in life are certain: death, taxes, and the most-watched movie on Netflix changing as quickly as it takes you to press play. At the end of April, the Tom Hardy-led actioner "Havoc" held strong in the top spot among the streamers' programming in the U.S., but according to viewership aggregate site FlixPatrol, it's since been unseated from number one by the new German thriller "Exterritorial."

Written and directed by Christian Zübert, "Exterritorial" stars "Barbarians" actress Jeanne Goursaud as a mother on the hunt for her missing kid. The twist? The child apparently disappeared inside a U.S. consulate building in Germany, and Goursaud's Sara has to bend and break more than a few rules to find him. Fortunately, Sara is an ex-Special Forces officer, so she's equipped to fight her way through the consulate building and get to the bottom of her son's disappearance – potentially...

How Trump’s proposed movie tariffs could impact Oscars
Image
President Donald Trump sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry on Sunday with a social media post threatening tariffs on international productions.

“The Movie Industry in America is Dying a very fast death. Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood, and many other areas within the U.S.A., are being devastated,” Trump wrote. “This is a concerted effort by other Nations and, therefore, a National Security threat. It is, in addition to everything else, messaging and propaganda! Therefore, I am authorizing the Department of Commerce, and the United States Trade Representative, to immediately begin the process of instituting a 100% Tariff on any and all Movies coming into our Country that are produced in Foreign Lands. We Want Movies Made In America, Again!”

Typical of the president, the proclamation came with few details and was quickly denounced as unlikely,...

The Bear's Ayo Edebiri Lost Her MCU Role by Dropping Out of Thunderbolts* (& She Gave Very Important Advice to Her Replacement)
Image
Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Thunderbolts*.

Thunderbolts* was Geraldine Viswanathan's first foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or the world of superheroes at large, for that matter. Before Viswanathan was cast in the role of Mel, the part was originally going to be played by Ayo Edebiri, who was forced out of the role due to scheduling conflicts.

Per Collider, Viswanathan was experiencing the same doubt and anxiety that many other first-time Marvel performers have described. When joining an entertainment behemoth like the MCU, things are kept fairly under wraps, meaning that when a role is offered, new actors often don't get to read the entire script. In a very Who Wants to be a Millionaire? moment, Viswanathan decided to phone a friend – one who had already landed the same role.

"I was like, 'Hey, girl. So, they gave me a call about this. What do you think?...

Film Review: Homeward Bound (2024) by Kim Dae-hwan
Bong Joon Ho
Kim Dae-hwan made a remarkable debut in 2014 with “End of Winter,” which not only received the New Currents Award at the 19th Busan International Film Festival but also earned praise from then-jury president Bong Joon-ho. This early recognition helped launch his career, eventually allowing him to work alongside the Oscar-winning director and contribute to the screenplay of “Parasite.” Now, Kim returns with his third feature film, “Homeward Bound,” which had its premiere on May 1st in the Korean Cinema section at the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival.

The story follows Jung-ha (Jang Young-nam), a teacher and painter, who lives peacefully in Chuncheon while secretly dating her girlfriend Ji-seon (Ok Ji-young). One day, Jung-ha’s son, Jin-woo (Ryu Kyung-soo), returns home from Canada, unexpectedly with his new girlfriend Jenny (Stephanie Lee), whom he quickly announces as his fiancée and very soon-to-be wife. Shortly afterward, Jenny’s parents, who are supposed to be in Canada,...

First Look at Steven Yeun’s Sentry For Thunderbolts* Will Make You Glad It Was Lewis Pullman in the End
Image
Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thunderbolts* is in theaters and wow, what a storm it brought to the franchise, especially with Sentry officially flowing into the MCU. Among its chaotic anti-hero crew, one golden god stood out, Bob aka Sentry. Of course, fans have been impatiently waiting for him ever since the trailer teased a glimpse of the unhinged powerhouse, but now we’ve seen him all, and it’s time to say the casting switch was a blessing in disguise.

Played by Lewis Pullman, Sentry featured an intense, eerie, and oddly sympathetic character, yet another dangerously unstable mix that worked perfectly for Marvel’s terrifying hero. And Pullman’s pure comic-book chaos performance made us forget the once imagined Steven Yeun donning the golden cape version. Honestly, Sentry might just be Marvel’s most haunting big-screen debut yet, all thanks to the casting choice.

Interview with Jerome Yoo: By The End Of The Film We Felt Like Dog Whisperers
Image
Inside of all of us are two beasts. For newcomer Jerome Yoo, these beasts take on different forms – whether that is about his Canadian upbringing or his Korean heritage, his background in Stem or his future career in film, and his serendipitous journey to make “Mongrels” possible. We had the privilege of speaking to this promising emerging director – already nominated for eight awards and winner of two at major international film festivals, and with a screening planned on May 11 for CAAMFest. Over Zoom, we spoke about working with translation, dog wrangling, and the good fortune required to be an independent filmmaker.

This interview has been edited and redacted for clarity.

I’ll start with the question on top of my list: Why dogs?

Jerome Yoo: I started with the ending, and worked my way backwards to build a story around that. The seed of the movie started with an image...

20 Unforgettable Non-English Films You Have to Watch Before You Die
Image
Hollywood may dominate the global box office, but for true cinephiles, the real rite of passage begins with exploring non-English films, which are, by definition, international movies. Stories from countries/regions introduce us to different cultures and broaden our perspectives, offering a new way to see the world.

Movies like Slumdog Millionaire, from Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle, are prime examples of people, culture, and struggles shown from a foreigner’s lens. For the real taste of the world, audiences have to dive into cinema beyond Hollywood. When Bong Joon-ho accepted the Academy Award for Best Director for Parasite, he famously said, “Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films.”

From action and romance to slice-of-life genre, including animated ones, this list consists of some of the best non-English films that one must definitely watch before they die. Without further ado,...

Image
While it became clear in the weeks leading up to the release of A Minecraft Movie that the industry was underestimating its box office potential, few could have predicted that it would become a blockbuster of this magnitude. It recently overtook Roland Emmerich’s classic ‘90s film Independence Day to claim the 100th spot on the all-time list, with a lifetime global haul of $817 million. Today, it’s overtaking Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman, and by this weekend,...

The King of Kings reached this box office milestone within three weeks of its April 11 release in the U.S., hitting the theaters just ahead of the Good Friday and Easter holidays.

Clocking pre-sales of more than $14.6M, the film was released by Angel Studios, which also handled Sound of Freedom and The Chosen.

15 Best Movies Like Parasite
Image
One of the most widely acclaimed movies of the past decade was 2019's "Parasite," which became the first non-English language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Directed and co-written by South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon Ho, the movie featured a financially struggling family getting more than they bargain for when they infiltrate a rich family's home. Blending dark humor with thriller action and themes of increasingly divided social classes, "Parasite" opened Korean cinema to larger audiences. And for those left on the edge of their seats hoping for more, there are plenty of intense movies, both from Korea and beyond, to keep the thrills coming.

Long before "Parasite," Korea has steadily delivered some of the best thrillers in global entertainment, both for cinema and television. But to be clear, this list isn't exclusively comprised of South Korean thrillers, but they do figure prominently here. Instead, these are dark thrillers,...

Mickey 17 | UK DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray confirmed for June
Bong Joon Ho
Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17 is getting a full UK physical media release, on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc.

It took long enough making its way to cinemas, but Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17 finally landed at the start of the year, and did decent box office business, albeit nowhere near the numbers that Warner Bros was hoping for. Still, the film exists (no small feat at the moment), and the Robert Pattinson-headlined movie is already available on digital service to rent. Now though, the physical media release is around the corner as well.

Set for 26th May 2025, Mickey 17 will be arriving on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc.

You can find the listing for the DVD release here, although it’s free of extra features.

You do get extra features on the Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray releases, though.

‘Minecraft’ On Another Level With $817M Global, ‘Sinners’ Holdover Halo Takes WW To $162M, ‘Revenge Of The Sith’ Galactic At $42M+ Reissue & ‘Accountant 2’ Puts $38M On The Books – International Box Office
Image
Updated: A very busy weekend at the global and international box office with strong holds for the films already in play and the impressive return of a Jedi.

Before we dive into detail, here’s the topline information.

Warner Bros/Legendary’s A Minecraft Movie crossed yet another century mark worldwide, now at $816.6M global after four weekends. That includes $436.6M from 78 offshore markets. The current frame overseas was $37.8M with the holdover drop from the Easter holiday session at just 44%.

Also from WB, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners saw an outstanding 14% dip from its opening last weekend internationally, spurred on by the great word of mouth. The weekend was worth $13.5M in 71 markets, and increased the offshore cume to $39.1M for $161.6M global to date.

Rounding out the WB trio, The Accountant 2 (an Amazon MGM Studios title that WB handles overseas) launched in 71 international markets this weekend to an estimated $13.7M.

Box Office: ‘Minecraft’ Powers to $816 Million Globally, ‘Sinners’ Surpasses $161 Million
Image
Warner Bros. has dominated at the box office in April as “A Minecraft Movie” and “Sinners” continue to shatter expectations.

Over the weekend, “Minecraft” collected $37.8 million overseas and $60.5 million worldwide in its fourth weekend of release. Meanwhile, “Sinners” added $13.5 million internationally and $58.5 million globally in its sophomore outing. For the second consecutive weekend, Warner has nabbed the No. 1 and 2 spots on international, domestic and global box office charts. It’s an especially promising reversal in fortunes because the studio suffered a rough start to 2025 with the theatrical flops of Robert De Niro’s “The Alto Knights” and Bong Joon Ho and Robert Pattinson’s “Mickey 17” (and that’s after ending last year with the misfire “Joker: Folie à Deux”).

“A Minecraft Movie” has grossed $436.6 million overseas and $816 million globally, ranking as the biggest Hollywood movie of the year to date. Top foreign markets include the United Kingdom ($67.1 million), Germany...

South Korean Box Office: Robert Pattinson Surpasses Song Hye-Kyo As Mickey 17 Leads The Chart By 7 Million From Dark Nuns
Image
Robert Pattinson’s Mickey 17 ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Bong Joon-Ho is a celebrated South Korean filmmaker. After creating ripples in cinema with his movie Parasite, he made another film, Mickey 17, but to give it global acceptance, he cast Robert Pattinson in the lead. Ever since the announcement, it has been one of the most anticipated movies of 2025. After the release, it became the highest-grossing film of the year at the South Korean box office.

A month before Mickey 17’s release, Song Hye-Kyo’s dark horror-thriller movie Dark Nuns was released. It gained a lot of attention from the critics and viewers and earned quite well domestically, but despite the star power of Hye-Kyo, it couldn’t surpass Mickey 17’s box office collection. Scroll ahead to read more.

Bong Joon-Ho’s directorial movie Mickey 17 is a sci-fi feature drama released on February 28, 2025. The stellar star cast and...

'Superman' Lawsuit Dismissed by Judge, Secures International Theatrical Run
Image
Superman is widely expected to become one of the biggest movies of the year when it flies into theaters this summer. However, a recent lawsuit put the film's release in select countries, including the United Kingdom and Canada, into question. Those are major markets where having a theatrcial run is vital to the Dcu project's box office prospects. Fortunately for Warner Bros., a judge has ruled in their favor and sealed the fate of James Gunn's DC superhero film.

As reported by Bloomberg, a federal judge has dismissed the case between Warner Bros. and Warren Peary, the nephew of Superman co-creator Joseph Shuster. The estate of the late Schuster alleged that the studio did not have the rights to release the film in select territories due to an apparent lack of foreign copyrights to the original comic book storyline. With the ruling, Superman will be able to be released...

Warner’s Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy Are Safe (for Now) After ‘Sinners’ and ‘Minecraft’ Success
Image
How quickly the fortunes of a Hollywood studio head can change.

Just weeks after the word around town was that their jobs were in jeopardy, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group studio heads Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy have passed a key test of their film strategy and will likely live to fight another day thanks to the critical and commercial success of Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” and the birth of a new franchise with Jared Hess’ “A Minecraft Movie,” according to multiple insiders who spoke with TheWrap.

Coogler’s vampire horror film’s $48 million domestic opening weekend and extremely rare A CinemaScore — the first for a horror film in 39 years — has strengthened the pair’s position following earlier misfires like Todd Phillips’ “Joker: Folie à Deux” and Bong Joon-ho’s “Mickey 17.”

Even more impressive: Warner Bros. achieved what no studio has accomplished since 2009, with two films – “Sinners” and...

Insider Claims that Lady Gaga Has Also Been Offered a Role in the ‘Guys and Dolls’ Remake
Image
As of September last year, a remake of Guys and Dolls, one of Broadway’s best and most influential musical that was also adapted into a successful Hollywood musical back in 1955, is in the works. The original movie was nominated in four categories at the Oscars, but it did not win any award.

Now, Hollywood is looking to make a remake of the film, which shouldn’t be surprising, seeing how the reboot and remake era is still very much alive. At this moment we don’t know much about the movie, but we do have some rumors.

Recently, it has been reported that Zendaya was offered to play a “lead role” in the movie and now, another casting rumor has surfaced and it is quite interesting.

‘Minecraft’ Surpasses $720 Million, ‘Sinners’ Debuts to $63 Million at Global Box Office
Image
Updated: “A Minecraft Movie” is barreling toward the $1 billion mark with global ticket sales at $720 million after three weekends of release.

The Warner Bros. PG blockbuster, starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, added another $59 million internationally and a massive $100 million globally over the Easter holiday weekend. Now, “Minecraft” has generated $376.2 million overseas and $720.8 million worldwide to date. It’s already Hollywood’s highest grossing film of the year, and at this pace, “Minecraft” is poised to be the first to join the billion-dollar club.

Meanwhile, “Sinners,” a vampire thriller from “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan, opened to $15.6 million overseas from 71 markets. The film was far bigger in the U.S. and Canada, topping the box office with $48 million. In all, “Sinners” has amassed $63.5 million in its global debut. 'A Minecraft Movie' Overtakes Jason Momoa's Wackiest Hit at Global Box Office
Image
Having completed two full weeks in theaters worldwide, A Minecraft Movie continued its stupendous box office run despite facing competition in the form of Ryan Coogler’s Sinners this week. The movie slipped to the number two spot on the domestic box office charts, but continued to maintain its stronghold overseas, thanks to its broad appeal. A Minecraft Movie passed a couple of major milestones at the global box office this weekend, having already passed the $300 million mark domestically a few days ago. It’s the top-grossing Hollywood film of the year, and a much-needed shot in the arm for Warner Bros. after a disappointing start to 2025.

With nearly $350 million domestically and another $376 million from overseas markets, A Minecraft Movie has earned a combined global total of $720 million so far. The movie has now overtaken hits such as Dune: Part Two, Fast X, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Produced...

‘Sinners’ Drives a Stake Through ‘Minecraft’s Heart in Blockbuster Domestic Box Office Debut
Image
After a disappointing start to the year with two back-to-back under-performers at the box office — Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17 and Barry Levinson’s The Alto Knights — Warner Bros. has rebounded in grand fashion. A couple of weeks ago, the studio delivered A Minecraft Movie, which broke opening weekend records and has since blazed past the half-billion mark worldwide. This week, W.B. delivered another over-performer in director Ryan Coogler’s genre-bending original movie Sinners, which reunites him with star Michael B. Jordan. Sinners took the top spot on the domestic box office charts this weekend, on the back of tremendous reviews and audience reception.

The movie grossed an estimated $45 million in the first three days of release, after witnessing an uptick in revenue on Saturday thanks to positive word-of-mouth. This is higher than Nope's $44 million debut. Sinners holds a “certified fresh” 98% approval rating on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes,...

Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Sinners’ Takes Box Office Crown With $48 Million
Image
Updated: “Sinners,” an original, R-rated vampire thriller from director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan, topped the box office in its opening weekend despite steep competition from “A Minecraft Movie.”

Boosted by stellar reviews and Coogler and Jordan’s popularity, “Sinners” collected $48 million from 3,308 North American theaters, outperforming Sunday’s initial estimates of $45.6 million. Those ticket sales mark the biggest debut for an original film since Jordan Peele’s “Us” opened to $71 million in 2019. But Warner Bros. spent a staggering $90 million to produce “Sinners” (before factoring in global marketing expenses), so profitability remains a question mark.

At the international box office, “Sinners” added another $15.4 million for a global tally of $63.5 million.

“This is an excellent opening for a period horror film. It should have a good run now,” says David A. Gross, who runs the FranchiseRe movie consulting firm. However, he adds, “the enormous production cost is going to...

'Sinners' Casts Out 'A Minecraft Movie' in Domestic Box Office Debut
Image
Thanks to incredible reviews and a fantastic reception from audiences, director Ryan Coogler's Sinners is exceeding expectations in its domestic box office debut. Sinners marks a reunion for Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan; they broke out together with the indie hit Fruitvale Station over a decade ago. In this decade, their careers have grown concurrently. They also worked together on hits such as Creed and Black Panther. Sinners is Coogler's first original film since Fruitvale Station all those years ago, and, as things stand, could catapult him into a rarified space occupied only by folks like Christopher Nolan and Jordan Peele.

The movie earned around $19 million on opening day, which includes the $4.7 million that it made in Thursday previews. Produced on a reported budget of around $90 million, Sinners is expected to generate around $45 million in its first weekend, with a $50 million finish also on the cards thanks to the positive reviews.

Box Office: ‘Sinners’ Makes $4.7 Million in Previews
Image
Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler are sinking their teeth into the box office once again. Their new horror movie “Sinners” has made $4.7 million in Thursday previews at the box office so far.

The R-rated vampire thriller is expected to make between $45 million to $50 million in its opening weekend. Some projections are even higher than $50 million, with Warner Bros. offering a softer range of $35 million to $40 million. With another $10 million to $15 million at the international box office, “Sinners” should bring in a scary good haul in its first weekend.

After misfiring with Robert De Niro’s gangster movie “The Alto Knights” and director Bong Joon Ho’s sci-fi “Mickey 17,” Warner Bros. has two back-to-back hits on its hands. “A Minecraft Movie” is the year’s highest-grossing movie, with $283 million domestically and $557 million globally. It broke records for the biggest opening for a video game movie ever (previously held...

‘La Chimera’ Filmmaker Alice Rohrwacher Named 2025 Cannes Camera d’Or Jury President
Image
This year’s Cannes Camera d’Or jury will be led by a very familiar face to the festival faithful: Italian filmmaker Alice Rohrwacher. Following last year’s duo of jury chairs, Emmanuelle Béart and Baloji, Rohrwacher will chair the group that honors a first feature film presented in the fest’s Official Selection, at the Critics’ Week, or the Directors’ Fortnight. In 2024, the Caméra d’or went to Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel for “Armand,” which premiered at Un Certain Regard.

“First times are always important and they stay with us for the rest of our lives,” said Rohrwacher in an official statement. “Like entering an unfamiliar room, approaching one’s beloved for a first kiss, or landing on a foreign shore. There’s something golden that haloes these moments in our memory. Is that why the most prestigious award for first films is called Caméra d’Or?”

“La Chimera” and...

"A Billionaire Chairwoman": Youn Yuh-Jung Teases Her 'Beef' Season 2 Role and Relationship With Song Kang-ho [Exclusive]
Image
Three months after star Carey Mulligan revealed that production had begun, cameras are still rolling on Season 2 of A24's dark comedy-drama Beef. With a whole new batch of big-name stars, anticipation is running high for what series creator Lee Sung Jin has in store after delivering an acclaimed initial run of episodes that took home eight Emmys in 2024. The shift to an anthology format means viewers will be presented with an entirely new story, dealing with a pair of couples jockeying for power in the elitist world of a Korean billionaire-owned country club instead of Steven Yeun and Ali Wong's rage-filled drivers. At the top of the pyramid will be Academy Award winner Youn Yuh-jung, who's ready to pull back the curtain just a bit on the status of the series and her upcoming role.

‘Sinners’ Box Office Prediction Will Make Ryan Coogler, Michael B. Jordan Mighty Proud
Image
Barring A Minecraft Movie, which has proven to be a smashing hit for the media giant, Warner Bros’ 2025 slate is mostly defined by its auteurs-driven slate, largely featuring original works from auteurs with notable budgets. Although Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17 didn’t witness major box-office returns, things are looking brighter for Ryan Coogler’s Sinners.

While Mickey 17‘s diminishing box-office returns reportedly elevated the bar for Michael B. Jordan’s original release, despite competition from A Minecraft Movie, the original release is currently aiming for a strong start.

Sinners | Credit: Warner Bros. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is tracking for a solid box-office start

Having opened to a whopping 99% on the Tomatometer (as of writing), it appears Sinners‘ critical reception will translate to its theatre run. According to Variety, Ryan Coogler‘s original horror, featuring his frequent collaborator Michael B. Jordan, is reportedly on track to hit $45-50M...
