Armie Hammer Shares Poster for a Safdie Bros. Movie That Isn't Happening
Image
Armie Hammer has stirred up some confusion on social media after sharing a poster for a new movie directed by the Safdie brothers, the filmmaking duo behind Uncut Gems and Good Time, with an important (but not publicized) catch: the project is not real. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. actor posted a cryptic image on his Instagram account teasing a collaboration with Benny and Josh Safdie for an upcoming film titled Persona Non Grata, in which he appears to have a starring role, and hinted at a Fall 2026 release in the caption.

The comments section of the Instagram post (seen below), which Hammer shared on his grid and further promoted via his stories, was immediately flooded with messages from his followers celebrating the news and congratulating the actor on his next role after a three-year absence from feature films. However, reps for both Benny and Josh Safdie...

Armie Hammer Confuses Fans With Movie Poster for New Safdie Bros. Movie, But It’s Not Real
Image
Armie Hammer is not working with the Safdie brothers, despite a cryptic Instagram post teasing a collaboration.

On Monday afternoon, Hammer shared a movie poster to his Instagram account teasing a project called “Persona Non Grata” directed by “Uncut Gems” duo Josh and Benny Safdie, writing, “Fall 2026” in the caption.

A post shared by @armiehammer

Despite dozens of comments hyping up Hammer, Variety is told by reps for both Benny and Josh Safdie that the project is not real.

Hammer, who previously starred in films like “The Social Network” and “Call Me By Your Name,” saw his career derailed four years ago following allegations of sexual assault.

Hammer was accused in 2021 of sexual abuse and improper behavior by multiple women; private messages he allegedly sent to women about his cannibalistic fantasies and sexual fetishes were also leaked online. In the wake of the scandal, Hammer was dropped by his agency,...

All 28 Live-Action Horror Movies Based on a Video Game, Ranked
Image
Video game movies do not have a great reputation, but their reputation is getting better. As modern filmmakers do a better job of understanding and cracking the source material, adapting it faithfully and effectively for the silver screen, the overall stats for video game adaptations seem to be on the rise, with better and better movie versions coming out all the time.

Still, the history of video game movies remains littered with cheap cash-ins and well-intentioned disappointments, and you can really tell from looking at all the live-action horror movies that have come out in the last few decades. Scary video games are incredibly immersive, but many of the movies based on those games have fallen prey to unconvincing production values, amateurish writing/directing/acting, and bizarre and ridiculous tones that weren’t necessarily in the games to begin with.

Let’s take a look at every horror movie based...

Wtf Happened to Jason Statham?
Image
When you think of Jason Statham, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? If it’s a fit bald dude beating the shit out of a nameless goon, good. That means we’re on the same page. Range is not Jason Statham’s forte, nor would we expect his characters to be able to spell “forte”. But the man has marked himself as maybe The action star in modern movies. And that’s good enough for us and his millions of fans. As Frank Martin said in The Transporter: Never change the deal.

Jason Statham was born on July 26th, 1967 in Shirebrook, England. A natural and gifted athlete, Statham was competing in everything from football to diving (he would later be inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame). Then came modelling because, well, look at that jawline!

But it was the screen he was destined for.

A Massive Video Game Movie Flop Tried To Crowdfund A Sequel — And Failed Miserably
Image
Video game adaptations are quickly becoming the next big thing in Hollywood, with movies like "A Minecraft Movie" and "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" and TV shows like "Fallout" and "The Last of Us" all finding massive success. That's a trend that no one would have predicted a couple decades ago, back when the very notion of a video game movie conjured thoughts of low budgets, lousy reviews, C-list actors, and box office deficits.

Back in those golden days, no one was more infamous for his video game movie flops than controversial German filmmaker Uwe Boll. Throughout the aughts, Boll threw up bomb after bomb, adapting games like "Alone in the Dark," "Dungeon Siege," "BloodRayne," "House of the Dead," and "Far Cry." He's arguably the man most responsible for the hellish reputation of video game movies at the time. In 2007, Boll directed "Postal," based on the game series of the...

Jason Statham Played A Small Part In One Of The World's Biggest Video Game Franchises
Image
No, the headline of this article is not a reference to Jason Statham's leading role in Uwe Boll's roundly mocked film "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale," one of the most derided of all video game adaptations. Instead, this refers to some voice work that he did early in his career. It seems that Statham played a minor voice role in the very first "Call of Duty" video game in 2003. "Call of Duty" was a military-based shooter game set during World War II, released on the PC, and eventually for the XBox 360, and the PlayStation 3. It was a big hit in the early 2000s, and spawned a massive franchise that is still going strong to this day. There are five games in the original World War II continuity, eight games in the "Modern Warfare" spinoff series (set in the present), seven games in the "Black Ops" spinoff,...

A Minecraft Movie, and why the videogame adaptation curse never existed
Image
Warner Bros has landed an unexpectedly huge hit with A Minecraft Movie. But then, videogame adaptations have long attracted sizeable audiences…

What was the first ever live-action movie based on a videogame? The popular thinking is that it was 1993’s Super Mario Bros. In reality, it was Mirai Ninja – known in the US as Cyber Ninja – a big-screen rendering of an obscure Namco arcade game released in 1988. A full five years before Hollywood’s Mario adaptation, it featured a striking mix of katana-swinging action and giant Heian period-themed robots, yet largely drifted by unnoticed. Criminal, really. (Good news, though: it’s on archive.org if you want to watch it.)

Super Mario Bros, thanks to the recognisability of its name and the huge marketing campaign surrounding it, soon became infamous for its distinctly loose handling of Nintendo’s bouncy fairytale videogame franchise. Its critical and financial failure set something of...

‘A Minecraft Movie’ surprised everyone with record-breaking box office. Could awards be next?
Image
Minecraft blew theater doors wide open in its initial weekend, surpassing even optimistic projections and grossing a record-breaking $163 million domestic — the best domestic debut of all time for a video-game adaptation. We’re in a new era for video-game adaptations, with the series The Last of Us and Fallout becoming serious Emmy players and films like the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise and The Super Mario Bros. Movie proving wildly popular at the box office. It’s a far cry from, well, Far Cry and other maligned adaptations of yore, as Hollywood studios are finally figuring out how to adapt and sell video-game-derived movies to the masses. Considering that The Super Mario Bros. Movie contended for Golden Globes, could A Minecraft Movie’s follow a similar trajectory and translate its box-office success into awards love?

The first live-action feature-length video-game adaptation intended for theaters was 1993’s Super Mario Bros. Taking liberties...

The Dark Knight: Uwe Boll decides to change title of Armie Hammer thriller after “friendly” chat with Warner Bros.
Image
The upcoming Uwe Boll thriller starring Armie Hammer shares its title with Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, or at least it did until somewhat recently. According to Variety, Boll had a “friendly” chat with Warner Bros. and has decided to change the name of his film from The Dark Knight to Citizen Vigilante.

“We had a very friendly conversation with Warner Bros. and decided to change our title to ‘Citizen Vigilante’ to avoid any confusion with Warners’ famous character,” Boll explained.

Executive producer Michael Roesch added, “We also got a lot of feedback from fans, who asked us to change the title because of its similarity with Chris Nolan’s movie, so this was another factor in changing the title. Warner Bros. contacted us and asked us to change the title. It was a very amicable discussion.“

Armie Hammer's The Dark Knight Movie Gets New Title After a 'Very Friendly Conversation With Warner Bros.'
Image
In a move that likely doesn't surprise many, Uwe Boll has revealed that his upcoming action movie is no longer titled The Dark Knight. The German filmmaker also shared that Warner Bros., who released an unrelated movie titled The Dark Knight in 2008, was behind the title change.

Speaking with Variety, Boll confirmed that his upcoming Armie Hammer-led crime thriller The Dark Knight had been retitled Citizen Vigilante after listening to both Warner Bros. and Batman fans. "We had a very friendly conversation with Warner Bros. and decided to change our title to Citizen Vigilante to avoid any confusion with Warners’ famous character," explained Boll, noting how the Dark Knight is a popular nickname for the DC hero Batman as well as the title of the Christopher Nolan-helmed blockbuster that was released in 2008 to critical and commercial success.

When Citizen Vigilante was first announced earlier this year under its original title,...

Armie Hammer's Vigilante Thriller 'The Dark Knight' Gets New Title
Image
Armie Hammer has a knack for narrowly avoiding major controversies in his career, and it looks like his upcoming film is following in his footsteps. You might know the Call Me by Your Name actor from his leaked, scandalous and cannibalistic texts that detailed abusive sexual fantasies, which he has been reeling from ever since and recently explained away as poor behavior and a hunting ritual. However, earlier this year, Hammer made a big jump back into the spotlight, sparking yet another controversy when his upcoming film was revealed to be named The Dark Knight. Sound familiar? Well, Batman fans everywhere and Dark Knight IP holder Warner Bros. certainly thought so, prompting a title change.

Directed by Postal and House of the Dead director Uwe Boll, Hammer's upcoming film about a man turned vigilante was, until recently, titled The Dark Knight. Why a filmmaker would choose to name their film...

Warner Bros. Asked ‘Dark Knight’ Director to Change the Name of His Armie Hammer Action Film — Report

Armie Hammer's The Dark Knight Changes Its Title Following A "Friendly Conversation" With Warner Bros.
Image
The Lone Ranger and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. star Armie Hammer is attempting a career comeback following allegations of sexual misconduct in 2021. Los Angeles prosecutors ultimately decided against charging the actor, but his reputation took a serious hit.

Hammer was on his way to the A-List but is largely being relegated to what would have once been "direct-to-dvd" fare at this stage in his career. Last year, he shot Frontier Crucible with Thomas Jane and William H. Macy, and next up is The Dark Knight. Or not.

The action-crime thriller made headlines for sharing a title with 2008's The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan's critically acclaimed Batman movie starring Christian Bale and Heath Ledger. Had it not been for that, chances are it would have been announced and quickly forgotten; either way, a name change has followed.

Variety has confirmed that The Dark Knight's title is now Citizen Vigilante.

‘A Working Man’s Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score Lands Inside the Top Five for Jason Statham’s Career
Image
A Working Man is now playing in theaters everywhere, but how does it stack up to other films in Jason Statham’s filmography? That depends on whom you ask. A Working Man earned a “rotten” 51% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but general audiences have given the film a “verified hot” 89%. This 89% score is enough to land in the top five for all Jason Statham’s movies, sitting at #5 at the time of writing, barely ahead of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw at 88% but behind Wrath of Man, which earned a 90%. A Working Man was directed by David Ayer, who worked with Statham prior on The Beekeeper, which earned a 92% rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, the third-highest of Statham’s career.

Ironically enough, the two highest-rated projects of Jason Statham’s career, according to audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, are also the two first movies he ever starred in.

The House of the Dead: Paul W.S. Anderson’s next video game movie will be very, very scary
Paul W.S. Anderson
A good portion of Paul W.S. Anderson’s filmmaking career has consisted of video game adaptations, with his writing and/or directing credits including Mortal Kombat (1995), Monster Hunter, and six Resident Evil movies. Next up for him is a film version of the Sega game The House of the Dead. Originally released in 1997, The House of the Dead spawned a franchise that includes several sequels and spin-offs, as well as a remake. Uwe Boll directed a film adaptation back in 2003, and that received a sequel in 2005 that was directed by Michael Hurst. Now, Anderson is plotting an adaptation that he promises will be “very, very scary.”

In the game, players take on the role of Ams agents, a government agency tasked with thwarting the conspiracies of organizations that threaten the world. The title comes from the bureau they work for, because their life expectancies are brief. Anderson is producing the...

‘The House of the Dead’ – Paul W.S. Anderson Updates On His “Very Scary” Horror Movie Adaptation
Image
We had learned this past Halloween season that Paul W.S Anderson (Event Horizon, Alien vs. Predator, Resident Evil film franchise, Monster Hunter, In the Lost Lands) is returning to the horror genre with an upcoming movie adaptation of the video game The House of the Dead, which will be coming along over 20 years after Uwe Boll’s infamous adaptation.

Paul W.S Anderson will write and direct the new adaptation of Sega’s zombie game, which debuted back in 1996 and spawned a franchise as well as a remake in 2022. In a new chat with Variety this week, Anderson details his “very, very scary” vision for the upcoming movie.

“It’s going to be immersive and very, very scary,” Paul W.S. Anderson promises. “It’ll all play out in real time, so it reflects the experience of playing the video game. The only time it stops is when you beat the game or you die.

'House of the Dead' Director Shares Big Update on Video Game Adaptation
Image
If there's anyone who knows how to bring a video game to life on the big screen, it's director Paul W.S. Anderson. Not only has he helmed six Resident Evil movies over the course of his career, but he also directed 1995's Mortal Kombat, and 2020's Monster Hunter, which was based on the popular series of games by Capcom. Now he's at it again with a new adaptation of House of the Dead, which he says is going to be something very "different" for him.

Speaking with Variety to promote his latest release, In the Lost Lands, Anderson touched a little on House of the Dead, which is the third adaptation of the action horror game franchise following Uwe Boll's 2003 version, and the direct-to-dvd sequel helmed by Michael Hurst in 2006. Anderson revealed that not only is filming expected to get underway this year, but that the movie is going...

Netflix snuck in 12 more fantastic movies to begin March
Image
The fine folks of Netflix can be sneaky little devils sometimes. Case in point: even though it wasn't announced with their regular slate of releases, Venom: The Last Dance made its bow on the streamer on February 25th. They decided to really up their stealth release game with a dozen more titles on Saturday. That's in addition to the 12 already on the slate.

This turned what was already a strong debut slate into an outstanding group. You'll find iconic comedies with some of the most popular stars of Hollywood, a trio of classic romances, and some knife-edge thrillers. There's drama and action, too.

There's also a pair of underrated horror flicks ready for your screen. Best of all is the addition of the finest films from one the most influential directors of the past 40 years. Like all art forms, film is subjective. But rest assured, I'm not talking about Uwe Boll...

The Dark Knight First Look Revealed As Director Uwe Boll Refuses To Change Title After Wbd Cease & Desist
Image
Earlier this year, the news broke that Armie Hammer, whose career came to a screeching halt in 2021 following some pretty disturbing allegations of sexual misconduct, had been cast as the lead in a movie called The Dark Knight from director Uwe Boll.

Based on an original script by Boll, Hammer is set to play Sanders, a man "who takes justice into his own hands as he sets out to hunt down criminals. While his crusade transforms him into a social media sensation and a hero in the eyes of the public, the local police chief sees him as a menace to society and aims to take him down."

“The story of The Dark Knight couldn’t be a more current topic, and I’m excited to bring it to life with this excellent cast,” said Boll in a statement (via Variety).

Uwe Boll still plans on calling his next film The Dark Knight, even after a letter from Warner Bros.

Uwe Boll recently wrapped production on The Dark Knight, an action thriller which shares its name with Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed Batman movie. Although the director has said that his movie “is very different from Chris Nolan’s movie, so there is no danger of confusion,” Warner Bros. has reportedly sent Boll a stern letter saying he can’t use the title. As you might expect, Boll isn’t going to back down.

Boll confirmed on The Uwe Boll Podcast Network (via World of Reel) that Warner Bros. has sent a cease-and-desist letter regarding The Dark Knight. “DC and Warner already contacted and said I can’t use the title,” Boll said. “I understand that, but I told them, ‘Guys, remember Rampage, the Rock movie? You used my title.’ The fact that they did that and called me for permission, they could show gratefulness and say, ‘listen, it’s not a Batman movie,...

The World's Worst Movie Director Is Picking The Stupidest Fight Ever With Warner Bros.
Image
Armie Hammer's big comeback will see him team up with Uwe Boll for a movie called "The Dark Knight," which is about a vigilante who takes the law into his own hands to combat crime. Sound familiar? Well, don't worry, as the disgraced actor and world's worst movie director aren't remaking Christopher Nolan's acclaimed Batman movie of the same name. However, that reportedly hasn't stopped Warner Bros. Discovery from sending Boll a cease and desist letter ... though you probably won't be shocked to learn that the director famed for literally fighting his critics in a boxing ring has no intention of backing down.

"DC and Warner already contacted and said I can't use the title. I understand that but I told them, 'Guys, remember 'Rampage,' the Rock movie? You used my title," Boll revealed on "The Uwe Boll Podcast Network" (via World of Reel). "The fact that they did that,...

Uwe Boll still wants to call his next film The Dark Knight, Warner Bros writes a letter
Uwe Boll at an event for BloodRayne (2005)
Uwe Boll is still planning to make his next film The Dark Knight, starring Armie Hammer. Warner Bros has written him a letter.

According to Uwe Boll, Warner Bros has issued him with a cease and desist over his plans to release a film titled The Dark Knight. Nobody at all saw that move coming, and it must be an enormous shock to all concerned.

Despite being about a vigilante, starring Armie Hammer (who once came close to playing Batman in George Miller’s aborted Justice League: Mortal) and having the same title as Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed 2008 superhero sequel, the provocative filmmaker claims that using the same title would cause no confusion and is insisting that it has to stay.

In an effort to win over the affections of Warner Bros, Boll added on his podcast that the studio’s Batman films were all terrible anyway, saying, “Most of...

Armie Hammer says cannibalism comments were in good fun
Image
Hollywood can be an oddly forgiving place. But when it comes to cannibalism, that just might be too taboo. Even though Armie Hammer is trying to stage his comeback and he claims to be getting offer after offer, it’s going to be a tough journey back that will require some thick skin. As for the cannibalism comments themselves, Armie Hammer just thought they were fun.

As Armie Hammer recently said on The Louis Theroux Podcast (via Vanity Fair), the infamous text messages where he claimed to love cannibalism came from a place buried in humor. “It’s fun to ruffle feathers and it’s fun to push the envelope little by little. Did I ever have any intention of cutting anything off of anyone or eating anything off of anyone? No. There was never really anything that I wanted. Was it fun to joke about if I was stoned...

Berlin: Amanda Plummer and Barkhard Abdi in Uwe Boll’s Refugee Thriller ‘Run’ (Exclusive Trailer)
Image
African refugees struggling to reach Europe receive an unpleasant welcome in Uwe Boll’s Run. The action thriller from the renegade German director of First Shift and BloodRayne dropped its first official trailer today, shared exclusively with The Hollywood Reporter (see below).

Oscar-nominees Amanda Plummer (Pulp Fiction) and Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips) star, alongside an impressive ensemble cast that includes James Russo, Ulrich Thomsen, Kristen Renton, Daniel Sauli, Marcus Henderson and newcomer Hannah Balogun.

The feature follows a group of migrants traveling by boat across the Mediterranean Sea toward Italy. When the vessel goes off course, tensions rise, leading to violence as the migrants turn on the smugglers. Upon reaching shore, some passengers evade capture, setting off a series of events throughout the day that escalate into further conflict, intertwining the lives of migrants, locals, and tourists.

The Armie Hammer Comeback Has Begun (Sort of)
Image
Four years after allegations of sexual assault and cannibalism by former partners tanked his career, Armie Hammer is inching his way back into the film industry. The Call Me by Your Name and The Social Network star has returned to work on low-budget indie projects.

He has wrapped shooting on two new films: Frontier Crucible, a period western from director Travis Mills and Bone Tomahawk producer Dallas Sonnier, which Voltage Pictures is selling at Berlin’s EFM; and The Dark Knight, the latest feature from prolific German director Uwe Boll (Postal, Rampage). The Boll film, which shot in Croatia, sees Hammer playing the film’s titular crimefighter. Boll also wrote the script, about a vigilante who becomes a social media sensation, drawing the ire of the local police chief.

Hammer set the jobs up himself. He was dropped by his agency, WME, and publicly ostracized after multiple former partners came...

Get a first look at Armie Hammer dealing out vigilante justice in the Uwe Boll movie The Dark Knight
Image
The concept for this upcoming film almost sounds like a throwaway punchline in a comedy — “Controversial acting figure Armie Hammer will attempt to make a comeback…but it will be in an Uwe Boll movie. This movie will be about a vigilante who deals his own brand of justice and it’s titled…The Dark Knight.” However, not only is this movie happening, it’s already well into production in Zagreb, Croatia. Boll stated, “The story of The Dark Knight couldn’t be a more current topic, and I’m excited to bring it to life with this excellent cast.”

You can now get a new look at The Dark Knight as Variety has shared a couple of new images from the production. Additionally, the cast has added Costas Mandylor, who is a regular actor in the Saw franchise. The Dark Knight is based on an original script by Boll,...

Uwe Boll at an event for BloodRayne (2005)
Director Uwe Boll has launched production on his latest film, a vigilante drama tentatively titled “The Dark Knight,” currently shooting in Zagreb, Croatia. The movie stars Armie Hammer as Sanders, a justice-seeking protagonist who operates outside traditional legal boundaries.

Actor Costas Mandylor has joined the cast as Henry, an Interpol officer tasked with tracking down Hammer’s character. This casting sets up a potentially intense narrative dynamic between a vigilante and the law enforcement officer pursuing him.

“We’re very happy to add Costas Mandylor to our cast,” Boll said. “To see him acting opposite Armie Hammer is truly a pleasure.” The film reunites Mandylor with Boll after their recent collaboration on “Run,” which is currently seeking U.S. distribution.

Executive producer Michael Roesch praised Mandylor’s involvement, stating, “We already enjoyed working with Costas on our last movie and couldn’t be happier to have him back. His vibrant...

Just when video game adaptations were starting to break free from the stigma of poor adaptations, Borderlands flopped. Borderlands, based on the RPG looter shooter series developed by Gearbox Studios, had an easy path to success. Borderlands is known for being hilarious, but still capable of telling engaging stories. Its colorful dog-eat-dog universe is fun to explore and its uncountable number of guns ensures there are surprises around every corner.

Sadly, despite a star-studded cast, the Borderlands movie failed to properly bring the franchise to live-action. Borderlands hit for the Triple Crown of video game adaptation failures: panned by critics, panned by fans of the series, and performed poorly at the box office. With the 45th Golden Raspberry Awards coming March 1, Borderlands has a chance to secure video...

The First Resident Evil Movie Is Good Because It Ignores the Games
Image
Video game adaptations have come along way. Gone are the days when the best video game movies that gamers could hope for were movies about video games like The Last Starfighter or Tron, not subpar adaptations like Doom or whatever so-bad-it's-good masterpiece Uwe Boll directed. No other cinematic franchise represents the latter bygone era better than the Resident Evil movies, primarily directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich.

Given the series' current notoriety among both Resident Evil fans and gamers in general, it may be hard to believe or even remember that the first Resident Evilmovie was a pretty big deal back in 2002. Not only was it the long-gestating film adaptation of one of the premiere survival-horror games, but it was the first R-rated video game adaptation of its time. While game purists may beg to disagree, Resident Evil was an important milestone in more ways than one.

Armie Hammer to Star in Uwe Boll's Next Film - Which Shares Its Title With a Beloved Batman Movie
Image
Actor Armie Hammer was on the rise when his career took a major hit in 2021. At the time, allegations of misconduct were leveled against Hammer, and offers for new roles in Hollywood films immediately dried up.

After four years, Hammer is looking to get his acting career back on the rails. He has recently been hosting a podcast, looking to show another side of himself as he takes on more acting work. Per Variety, his next role will see him playing a vigilante in a movie called The Dark Knight. While the movie happens to share a title with a beloved film directed by revered filmmaker Christopher Nolan, it is not a DC project focused on Batman... though, with Hammer in the lead, it's still starring someone who was once also cast as the popular superhero.

Jason Statham Starred In One Of The Worst Video Game Movie Flops Of All Time
Image
Director Uwe Boll has a reputation as one of the worst film directors of all time. In the mid-2000s, he helmed a string of well-publicized but critically savaged video game adaptations that immediately sunk to the bottom of cineastes' estimations. In 2003, he made "House of the Dead," and followed that in 2005 with both "Alone in the Dark" and "BloodRayne." He chased those with "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale," "BloodRayne 2: Deliverance," and "Postal" all in 2007, and capped off his run in 2008 with "Far Cry." Fans of the games on which those films are based were incensed that Boll should so clumsily handle the source material, and fans of the cinematic medium were incensed that

Despite his critical reputation, Boll has remained prolific, sometimes helming multiple pictures a year. He directed "First Shift" and "Bandidos" in 2024, and is set to release "Run" in 2025.

Armie Hammer To Return To Spotlight With New The Dark Knight Film? ( Photo Credit – Flickr )

The Dark Knight is set to return, but not the one fans of Batman might expect. According to People Magazine, German filmmaker Uwe Boll has announced his upcoming crime-thriller, sharing the same iconic title, with Armie Hammer cast in the lead role as a crime-fighting vigilante. The casting decision has sparked intense discussions, with debates on whether this first major role since Hammer’s fall from grace will rehabilitate his career or tarnish his reputation.

The Social Network star, who once enjoyed a promising career, has been facing severe vitriol all over social networking spaces following multiple allegations of misconduct — including accusations of r*pe, physical abuse, and cannibalistic fantasies — that surfaced against him in 2021. Though prosecutors in Los Angeles dropped the charges in 2023, his media image among film lovers and online audiences remains heavily scrutinized.

Armie Hammer to Star in 'The Dark Knight' From Director Uwe Boll
Image
Armie Hammer is gearing up for a comeback and, considering how his career was derailed in 2021, this particular trajectory for a comeback seems to make sense as major studios and directors may still be hesitant to cast the once-promising actor. Hammer is teaming up with infamous schlock director Uwe Boll on an upcoming project that will take him all the way to Croatia.

Per Variety, Hammer will lead Boll's The Dark Knight, described as a vigilante thriller that will see the actor playing the titular crime fighter. Shooting on the project will start on Jan. 27 in Croatia, and it follows Hammer returning to acting in the western Frontier Crucible alongside Thomas Janes and William H. Macy. The actor recently mentioned that his acting career was picking up steam once again, and that it was getting so hot that he was starting to turn down jobs.

Armie Hammer Is Mounting His Hollywood Comeback — With One Of The Worst Directors Ever
Image
As anyone with a social media account is aware of, there are numerous celebrities, artists, and public figures who've fallen from grace these days, their reputations and careers falling under the banner of that oh-so-ominous term of "cancelled." While the term is frequently used erroneously, the people who actually have been shunned from the spotlight they once enjoyed are often extremely well-deserving of their fate, so much so that any attempt to make a comeback would have to be an extremely delicate and well-considered one.

Time and again, The Cancelled keep making bizarre, creepy, unwelcome mistakes as they embarrassingly struggle to regain the reputation that they've since lost. Today, we can add Armie Hammer to that unfavorable list of actors looking to mount a Hollywood comeback by jumping onboard a project that wouldn't be favorable in any capacity, let alone to a disgraced celebrity. According to Variety, Hammer has signed...
